Lovely Store with some excellent homemade products. We called in for tea and cake. It was very busy with customers coming and going and also enjoying lunch. Highly Recommend

Really sorry to have to write this, but the village shop is now 99% gift shop. It used to be buzzing, vibrant and full of customers every day when I walk past. Unfortunately, now it seems to be the opposite. Any provision for villagers to pop and pick up something for dinner that they may have been missing has totally gone. You can't just pick up ketchup these days and if you want crisps, it's game flavour! Please try and cater for all villagers, not just those that want to buy a tea towel or some artisan pottery. 😁

Difficult to fault it - great coffee, pastries and donuts!!!! Very pleasant staff but on occasion they use inexperienced wait staff. Main negative - and this really depends on your mood - is that it is sloooooooowwwwwwwwww.

My parents take my daughter here every Christmas and she chooses wonderful foodie gifts from the wonderful selection on offer here at this small but perfect village shop store and coffee shop. Highly recommended.

Great coffee and always welcoming. Great stop for cyclists! They accommodate various dietary requirements. These guys have been great during lockdown and we wouldn’t be without them. Cakes good too!

Excellent coffee and great friendly staff. Also has a great selection of food and drink for such a small shop. Love the location next to the duck pond.

This luckily is my local cafe and general store. The owners and staff are genuinely helpful and eager to please. They are welcoming to visiting clientele as well as providing a village hub for all age groups. In a village where the pub is currently not trading, this establishment provides an essential focal point both for the community and for passing trade. Selling everything from newspapers, through groceries to local craft and gifts, It is also an off licence.

We live a little way away but dropped in when out for a walk and it was great. Fresh pastries, really lovely people serving and had a big selection of food and drink for such a small store. Would definitely go back.

We came across this wonderful cafe and shop while walking in the area. The coffee is delicious and the cakes superb. We were made to feel very welcome. Currently the village pub is closed and it appears that the cafe is now a great meeting place for the locals. Always seems to be be busy. There is both outdoor and indoor seating.

The Childrey village coffee shop is very special. Friendly, warm and inviting with a lovely range of healthy and delicious lunches. The cakes are exquisite and they have the best pear and ginger muffins I have ever eaten! It’s is lovely to sit outside when it’s sunny, enjoy a frothy cappuccino and watch the geese by the pretty “duck” pond! They have a surprisingly large range of goodies and various gift or home items to buy surrounded by the tasteful and fresh decor. Even the loo is thoughtfully decorated. Friends like to come from the surrounding towns and villages to meet up and always feel welcome. Walkers and cyclists can often be found taking a break from the surrounding countryside and Ridgeway. This really is the heart of this special village.

We visit Childrey Village Stores most Sundays on our cycling route. The coffee is fab, the cakes are heavenly and the loo is spotless! I look forward to the maple and pecan Danish pastries all week.

Stopped in after seeing a sign for coffee and cake after visiting the white horse at Uffington. The lady at the till highly recommended their berry and almond muffins, which were indeed fantastic and I will be attempting to make some at home if I can! The staff were all very friendly and our hot drinks were delicious. Would highly recommend as a stop after a visit to Uffington!

The village shop has become to the place to be in Childrey :) it doesn’t matter if you want a place to relax and hangout, have a (amazing) cup of coffee with cake.. or just need to pop in quickly because you’ve run out of bread or sugar. The village shop caters for all! The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly :) can’t wait for our next visit!

My friend and I stopped by for a coffee at this pretty village shop, and were pleasantly surprised by the array of often unusual and carefully chosen gift items (including a number of Gins), as well as the more staple good quality village shop essentials. The premises is fairly small, but has been newly and comfortably re-furbished with seating inside and out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and our coffee was excellent, prepared to our individual tastes. There was a tempting choice of homemade cakes and biscuits - our choice, delicious apricot and almond muffins! We’ll be back!

It's quite surprising to find a village shop that is just that, a centre for locals to hang out and who in turn make visitors like us feel welcome

Perfectly prepared coffees and wonderfully baked cakes, cookies, brownies, etc. in a newly renovated country store near the duck pond in Childrey. In addition to the superb baked goods, Gill and Jane stock a variety of small producer organic products as well as staples, chips, beer, milk and a nice selection of wines. A modern addition to an ancient village well managed and cared for by two lovely ladies who are also seasoned pros. Hats off to Childrey Stores.

Gill and Jane are warm and welcoming, providing homemade cakes and local produce for a light bite. There is a carefully selected array of delicious groceries to take away including an excellent selection of gin. We had a locally made pastie straight out of the oven followed by tea and Gill's homemade apricot slice.

We’ve been here a few times for sandwiches, today we thought we would try the Brie, bacon and cranberry paninis. I can honestly say it’s the worst panini I’ve ever had. The bacon was really very fatty and cold. Both of us only ate one mouthful and then had to remove all the bacon. The lady behind the counter was very busy so I didn’t feel able to complain.

Food is superb. We had the burger which was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding which was the nicest I have tasted. The serving staff were very friendly and super helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
