Chicken Lickin in Leicester

Chips are awful today, and some were uncooked. doner was good. Please don’t change the potato you use. It makes for a disappointing food choice.

The staff is unfriendly and unwelcoming. However, the food is good, better than some takeaways, with a unique taste and reasonable prices.

Come all the way from Birmingham just for them special donner!

Had the runs in the morning health and safety and trading standards needs to be involved this is outrageous how they can still be open the owner is a complete nut job picking his nose like a jobs worth

I used to go here from the 90s, but in the last few years, the food quality and quantity have dropped, but the price has gone up. The taste ain't the same anymore and the place doesn't look appealing as before.

The food is hallal eating it don't know depends who makes it.

Garbage food, ridiculously arrogant service by old men. One of their worker became my friend later in university and he told me that they fry left over fried chips following day. And he also told me one time a rat fell in their chicken tub and this old guy told their worker’s to use that chicken 🤮🤮🤮🤮. I would never go there, use your hard earned money elsewhere.

PLEASE DONT GET FOOD FROM THIS PLACE, its absolutely disgusting and tasteless. We ordered tonight chips, plain donner tray. The chips were covered in salt and had been refried, they were dark brown, stale and tasted horrible soo bad that we couldn't eat them.The donner had no taste. I would not serve this kind of food to anyone. We have been getting food from here for past 20 years, the food last time was bad, thought it was 1 off but this is the worst ever. We will never ever return back to this dump of a place. I would rather be honest than anyone else waste their time and go billals or Rajas across the road. If I could give no stars I would.

Really bad experience. Was in the area and heard how good the food was. Decided to get a take away. Got home to find the food I ordered not there. Took a taxi back and returned the food and got a refund. Went elsewhere for food locally. Never visiting again. No gesture of apology offered.

Food was absolutely rubbish- I mean come on - the fries were soggy and downright pathetic. Meat tasted horrible. Fried chicken was hard, refried, greasy and tasted bland. Save your money - go elsewhere.

we all know the owner is not known for his customer service but it was tolerated because the food was nice...but for me never again, the chips tasted like crisps they were greasy and hard and I'm pretty sure they had been fried about 6 times before they got to me... I would recommend solly's on Uppingham Road

Rubbish food and service. Mac is so miserable and rude that he won’t even acknowledge customers. Stay away as an alternative to chicken licken I would try Soleys who are nice people serving decent food

Had a "special" doner and chips, its was tangy and I realised they make it with pickle! Served in chicken and chips box! I order 2 pieces chicken aswell, it was tasteless, I think it was refried and served to us.

This is the second time we've received refried chips.. tasted discussing!! When I rang they blamed it on the potatoes?!?

ordered two special donner trays 1 large chips. fries were good dinner was disgusting and entire donner trays swimming in oil. asked them to drain it out and still not better off. Donner was full of onions and oil making it look was full of meat. Wouldn't recommend it Ripped off aswell £23.

bought chips tonight and the chips looked like old chips been fryed in old smelly oil cause the chips smelled and tasted like eat fryed fish i had to throw them away and when i rang to tell them they guy on the other side of the phone was not very helpfull no wondor has 0 rating

I do recommend for family and friends members. Good prices and good customer services. They DO NOT SALE water which is good either water should be free or if can't afford the shouldn't be sale out. I do recommend it to all my family members, colleagues and friends. Thumbs up to admin!

Very dirty place, the chicken was soo hot it wasn’t edable. The old man is sooo rude and after spending £40.00 on food wouldn’t let me off 20 pence for a ketchup tub! Best donner meat. Try the donner meat & chips special. Just been in after a long time and still doesn't disappoint. They now have new seating so you can eat in again. It was removed due to COVID-19. Mac is still a character, infact an institution and if he ever retires it will be a sad day.

Childhood Memories, I remember going with my parents 15 years ago, I'm from Preston when I was on the way to London alone I stopped here for a nice spicy donner, it did not disappoint! I hoped it didn't change and they haven't, its the same amazing taste it had 15 years ago!

The owner of the shop ( old man ) is so rude!! Last time I’ll ever go here. Also just found out the place has a 0 food hygiene rating!!! No wonder I get an upset stomach after eating here. AVOID!! They also only accept payment by cash! I wonder why… in this day and age most places now accept card payment.

Special doner is best in Leicester. Chicken Licken is a staple.

This is the best donner kebab anywhere. I have tried plenty in many cities but nothing comes close to the kebabs here. Been going for 20 years+. If you try this place no matter how far you have travelled you will 100% keep coming back!

For those of you that commented on hygiene standards, this place has an official food hygiene score of zero (0, urgent improvement necessary) which probably explains some of your experiences! Don't visit if you care about food hygiene!

Been coming here for years foods not bad I've never had an issue with service, from some of the reviews I've seen on place all i can say is you cant please everyone give it a try, since the price increase it has gone expensive.

Absolutely horrendous! The grumpy old man taking orders like he was forced to do it. Very rude obnoxious and a tad racist!! Would not recommend trying to eat in with children!! No awareness of behaviour what so ever ! Disgusted!!

The shop front is cluttered., Doesn't quite look like an open takeaway. Customers not really using the one-way system in place. Took some time to be served but the food was fine. Cash only, don't really understand this Inthis day and age.

The food is terrible, i asked fir thigh piece. The chicken looked like it was cooked few days ago, like rubber, the chicken under skin was black, not worth the 1 star.

Best place for special doner. Even the southern fried chicken is amazing can't beat it. Have to try it. Pictures show the new updated menu March 2022.

The donor here has some masala thingamabob on it which makes it taste awesome. Portion size is generous, which is quite novel for what seems a Gujji outlet. (The antonym of of generous is Gujji or بخیل). The chicken this time was not the same standard as previously. It was a bit bland, which is ironic, since this place called CHICKEN licken. It wasn’t finger licken that’s for sure. Need to supply better cutlery with the food. That plastic thing moulded in the slums of Surat for 3 rupees an hour resembles a fork, but when you dig in to fat chips; there is a great danger of getting plastic chips. This is definitely not how fusion cuisine works.

Visited after many years as do not visit this side of Leicester much but must say that the Donner and Chips are still the BEST IVE EVER HAD! Ohhhh it just was as Amazing as I remembered it to be!

Dirty shop I seen the freshy Indian staff working picking lettuce out of the bucket with his hands and also used his hand to scoop out the left over lettuce to put the new lettuce in and then uses his hands again to put the salad on the chicken tikka on naan I said leave it don’t want it now absolutely disgusting 🤢

Best place in town for food, worst place for opening hours. Close way to early on busy nights for pubs and clubs. Miss alot of revenue with people having to go elsewhere. Great staff but the opening times let them down. Big time! Would be a 5* if the hours were different.

Excellent quality fast food. Probably one of the better ones in Leicester. At the end of the day it is fast food, it shouldn't be THAT difficult to do and these guys do it very well. Only 4 stars as they don't do Chicken donner.

No one does donner and chips better

Had the maq's special was ok, not how it used to be felt that the chicken and lamb had no flavour and the lamb was boiled not cooked in a tandoor how they used to make it missing that charcoal flavour.

Can't beat a good Chicken Licken, many saw a dip in quality from the renowned fast food joint over the last year or so but i must say after 3 visits in just over a month the CL quality is back again

I'm not going to lie, the place could do with a serious refurb. But, the food has always been on point. Never had a bad meal from here in all the years I've visited. Easily the best kebab joint in Leicester. Especially the special doner or Mac special. I've been visiting for over 20years and the place has always remained consistent in my opinion.
