I contacted the hotel directly, twice, immediately after my stay, rather than just place a review straight on here, but, disappointingly, I failed to get any response. On a plus point, all the staff I met, were cheerful, helpful and polite, breakfast and dinner were very good. The big disappointment was the room and it's vicinity. I was in a single room on the ground floor (113), and I am afraid it wasn't very clean and very 'tired.' The first thing I noticed was the dirt on the hairdryer, then the light switches, the creased, yellowing net curtains and sticky door handles and counter tops. This makes you look harder, and I found that, not only was there one broken soap dispenser in the bathroom, but the second was empty and had the remains of someone's shaving stubble on the top. The bed was very uncomfortable and I kept getting the strong smell of stale cigarette smoke during the night. I discovered that this belonged to one of the pillows. All these issues can easily be put right by a good scrub and wash. The garden could have been made lovely too, by cutting the grass and pulling out the huge weeds in the borders. I expected better for my £99 a night tariff.

Arrived at this hotel for an overnight business stay. Check-in was easy and made better by the two helpful and cheerful ladies on reception. My room was on the lower floor, which was nice as there was no lift. Free WiFi, which allowed me to finish work before dinner. I decided to eat at the on-site restaurant. Potato and leek soup (my favourite) served with croutons and bread roll. The main meal was loin of pork very pleasant although a steak knife, if offered, would have been welcome. Fresh vegetables were cooked al dente which were lovely and small new saute potatoes. All was reasonably priced. Breakfast was good, and the selection was ample. The pool and gym were not open on Mondays at the moment. It's definitely worth a return visit next time

I had an extremely pleasant meal in the hotel's restaurant. Good "honest", "real" food. Nice selection to choose from. Excellent service from professional, attentive, friendly servers. The vegetable puree soup HAD to have been made on the premises. Nothing that nice ever comes out of a can. Not a "grand"/ "trendy"/ "fancy" restaurant... thank heavens. "Just" a GOOD restaurant. Very peaceful, pleasant atmosphere... room's lighting, decor, music, lighting, other patron not "exciting". but NICE. AND this is locally owned operated. Why spend money that will leave your community? The fat cats who own the big chains don't need another yacht. I'd rather my money went to the people who worked to give me a splendid evening.

Stayed for one night on a b&b basis. Room was very clean although the carpet requires renewing as it is worn in certain areas. Remarked on a couple of minor issues which I was assured would be dealt with. I hope they are as the first impressions are so important. A good response from reception on arrival and breakfast (now back to buffet style) was very good and plentiful. Restaurant staff were clearing and sanitising tables as soon as guests left the area and were very efficient.as well as pleasant. Overall a comfortable stay.

Hotel immaculate and very clean BUT food was truly awful. Ordered steak medium it arrived in 3 minutes clearly been hanging about and was not medium. I sent it back and got another inedible steak . The waitress didn’t offer any compensation merely said no-one had complained before which is clearly untrue. The staff are attentive and but the restaurant which was empty apart from two tables is clearly letting the hotel down

We often miss breakfast because the beds are so comfortable! Dinner is good. A small menu given the current situation but we recommend the salmon and the lamb. Some seriously nice wines too very reasonably priced. The bar needs a re-vamp but given the location, we always enjoy our stay here.

Stayed here for two nights and was very impressed with the restaurant. Good food, reasonably priced, plenty of choice. Friendly, efficient staff too. No pressure to buy expensive drinks from the hotel bar, water and rolls provided on arrival. We liked it here and this added to our enjoyable stay in Chichester.

I was in Chichester on business and stayed for a night here.. Very good hotel located a mile from Chichester train station.. Nice and spacious rooms.. swimming pool, sauna and steam room amenities available which does help you to unwind after a busy and stressful day.. the restaurant was very good as well.. great food overall.. only blemish - I’d ordered desserts at the very beginning but while waiting after finishing my main course, I was told that the chef had left and they won’t be able to serve the dessert which was a bit weird.. saying that it’s a very busy hotel.. I’d to extend my stay at Chichester for another day which was unplanned and I was keen to get back here but nothing was available; all booked. Recommended..

We enjoyed an overnight stay at this 3 star hotel. The room was clean and comfortable enough but with a basic motel feel. The leisure facilities were small but clean and adequate although longer hours would be better for the late arrival and early deprtures. Breakfast was excellent and all the staff were very friendly.

9 of us went for a friends birthday, waitress Karen very cheerful ,chatty and helpful . Food was very tasty ,I’d say not too much to choose from but enough. Had abundance of veg and was told if we wanted any more just ask. Lovely evening then we asked for the bill OMG ,we worked it out that we would all pay £60 per couple. Except 1 couple were to pay less cause they had less. What a nightmare it must of taken half hour to explain it would work out ok . Then when we finally paid we had to do it in 2 payments. He said it was the card machine. .??

Accommodation has all 'mod cons' but the atmosphere is not appealing, decoration in the room is that bit old, curtains not hanging properly, noise from adjacent bedroom. The food was good at dinner, with good portions, but there again the atmosphere is not appealing. Just tables in a row and poor lighting, no background music the first night, very quiet. Breakfast is good too and the restaurant was heaving. There is a sports center and a swimming pool but I did not try them.

We visited for lunch mid week. Good service and a good value lunch. Not always easy to find anyone in the bar to serve you.We both had salmon pate - a very smooth pate - too smooth. Almost like a fish mousse. A very good main course. generous amounts of tender lamb, potatoes served in 'Duchess' style. Vegetables - generous quantities and piping hot.Coffee served was a little on the thin side. They do use a lot of foreign staff so conversation is difficult if there is a problem.

We stayed here for my cousins wedding as it cost the same as a taxi home! We really wished we had got the taxi home! Firstly the wedding meal Beef was tough and fatty, the dessert of berries was incredibly bitter and the champagne toast was definitely not champagne!!! The staff struggled to understand English which caused problems . The rooms were miles away and when you finally arrived, they were tired and old! The bathrooms were moulding, old plastic taps and I can honestly say I have seen better in a Travelidge! The walls were marked and nothing in the decor matched! The hotel at night was so hot and our first safety issue arrived as we found the window would not open! Finally with force it came open but had no way of holding it open as there was no fastener!!! Finally after a sleepless night we can ok breakfast! Then when it came to payment it was £30 more than the agreed price and I'm still awaiting the £200 refund to my credit card which they insist on having if you don't wish to pay for your room until the morning (kept open for drinks purposes). I can safely say I will never be going back!!! on many occasions! The r

The breakfast is of good quality and was a reasonable price.Hotel has a pool but I wasn't there for that and it was late anyway but it does look like a nice one.The majority of the guests here tend to be tradesmen stopping away on business. All in all it served a purpose and wasn't a bad hotel.

I have to explain that I was at a function for 125, so that might be partly to blame for the problems I had. The starter, of fresh melon with an apricot and ginger compote was sublime, a very good start to the meal, trouble was from there, there was only one way to go. My main course was Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes and vegetables. The vegetables were nice and fresh, and barely cooked so nice and crunchy. The Roast Potatoes seemed chewy as did the Yorkshire Pudding, and most of the Beef was left. I thought that was bad, unfortunately the Dessert topped it. What looked like a nice Strawberry Gateau, with a nice fresh strawberry on top was stale. It felt like it had been cut into portions days before, and left out, not nice at all. I asked for it to be changed for the cheese board, as did a great many others. I would like to go back and try the "Seasons" restaurant, just to see if it was just a problem due catering for large numbers.

Popped in for lunch following a walk to the Halnaker Windmill. Managed to get the last table available. I had the "lunchtime" size fish and chips with tartare sauce and mushy peas and my partner had the gammon, egg and chips. Both were very good. The "lunchtime" size fish and chips was a perfect size. My partner then had the crumble and ice cream and I had a mini version with custard and a flat white coffee. All very good too. Friendly staff and a great menu. A good selection of alcohol free beers. Definitely one to visit again when in the area, would book in advance.

We popped in without a reservation on a Saturday lunchtime and luckily they had a table for us. The pub was buzzing with happy people, clearly lots of locals too which is always a good sign. We had three courses - hadn’t planned to but the food was just soooo good! The prawn cocktail was the best we’ve ever had, and mains were delicious. OH had sea bass and I had lambs liver. Both served piping hot and with fresh veg. One of my main beefs is when food isn’t hot enough. Not so here, well done Berkeley Arms. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for too. We live 20 mins away but we’ll most definitely be back!

Very disappointed in my Scrambled egg on brown toast, the egg had no taste very pale done in the microwave, and water on my plate made my barely toasted toast wet and soggy. Great pleasant staff. Service good but unfortunately the breakfast was horrible.

We often visit this Greggs whilst shopping in Chichester as their sausage rolls are the best. As I don’t drink dairy milk, in the past I’ve always had soya in little cartons. My husband asked for oat milk (my favourite) and to my pleasant surprise Greggs now offer oat milk as an alternative. So my order was for an Americano with oat milk on the side. My husband also mentioned “on the side”. This is because I don’t take much so need to add it myself. So when the lady served an Americano with oat included (frothed up, yuk) (Since when does an Americano have warm frother milk in it?) I said, no I ordered oat milk on the side. Stroppy cow said she didn’t hear that (we said it twice) and that anyway they don’t serve oat milk on the side. So I’ve paid for a coffee that I can’t drink as it’s too milky. I really expected her to say “sorry madam, let me do another one for you”. I mean, for the sake of customer satisfaction, just pour it away and serve me what I’ve asked for! Is it too much to ask to have oat milk on the side? This is a first for us. Every other coffee establishment we visit serves it cold, and on the side when asked. She has no customer skills at all. A right stroppy cow. We were disgusted.
