The variety of sandwiches was amazing; plus delicious scones and cakes, everything so nicely presented. A special bonus was the gluten free selection which was much appreciated. Helpful and friendly advice and the delivery was right on time. It was a most enjoyable Lockdown birthday in the sunshine in the garden- all I had to do was provide plates and serviettes and open the Prosecco! Thank you Cheval!

We called into Chevals to ask about Christmas Hampers, we walked out over an hour later after purchasing five amazing bespoke hampers. Gemma could not do enough for us, we chose everything that went into the hampers individually, with excellent advice and guidance from Gemma. The hampers were purchased with money that had been donated to say thank you and Merry Christmas to our boys football team manager’s, accountant and kit man Westella Willerby Under 17’s, Gemma understood how important it was to make the hampers as personal as possible and she completely achieved it. The hampers when we picked them up were fabulous and everyone loved them. Thank you Chevals we will definitely purchase hampers from you in the future and we wish you the very best for the future. We cannot recommend you enough xx

I asked why i couldn`t have cake and was told that they were now serving lunches only. We will never return.

Birthday treat of afternoon tea. Worst afternoon tea I've ever had. Dry ham sandwich, dry large slice of cake and dry scone served with synthetic cream ugh. Nothing like the description. No selection of sandwiches, no selection or choice of cake. As for the fresh fruit. That must be the 2 cut up strawberries, which I don't like. Afternoon tea should be served on China plates and in China tea cups. The couple sat opposite were also not impressed as they left most their sandwiches and took the cake home. Probably to feed the ducks with. Companion had egg mayonnaise sandwich served in a rustic bun which they said was quite nice. Decent size pot of tea. When asked if the afternoon tea was alright, I told the girl about the dry sandwich cake and scone. Her response was she'd inform the chef? Wish I'd taken a photo to show how poor it is for £12.95. Social distancing and hygiene were well in place including little bottles of sanitizer on the table. I wonder if they wiped them after each customer? Really disappointed as have had meals there before and they were quite good and reasonable prices

I have visited Cheval with friends on numerous occasions for lunch and coffee and cake which have all been excellent so we decided to book for afternoon tea. What a disappointment! When our afternoon tea arrived there was a variety of sandwiches and what we thought were a variety of cakes. This was not the case as the cakes were all the same plain sponges with different decoration. We were pleased to see that scones had been included but unfortunately they were filled with what was obviously tasteless aerosol cream, were flat and uninteresting and left a strange taste in the mouth which we think was due to excess bicarbonate of soda in the scones. On leaving a member of our party looked at the menu on the table and saw that the afternoon tea should have included cheesecake but if they had run out of this we were not informed but were obviously just given extra cake. On the photos on the website the photos show crisps or coleslaw and pickle but maybe this has been discontinued. We will continue to visit but only for lunch or coffee and cake.

Ok, understand we are in lockdown, and things are different, so we decided to have afternoon tea delivered. What a disappointment, asked for a mixture of brown and white bread ! Only came with a few, and I mean a few quarter cut white bread sandwiches. Not that exciting cheese and ham and egg ! Pastries dry and pretty tasteless, scones dry and boring. That was about it, will not be going back. Not even sure why I gave it 2 stars.

Booked a table for my wife and I a couple of weeks before Valentines for the evening meal, at the time we were told depending on numbers booked it may not go ahead but they would confirm - totally understandable as these things need to be financially viable for the business for their survival. How lucky were we when they rang to confirm it would go ahead! (even though there was only a handful of tables taken) Ironically we both chose the same food, goes to show we think alike (but be assured we don't go for identical anoraks🤣🤣) We ordered the Baked Camenbert (is that spelt correct🤔) to start and Steak as main: The Baked Camenbert, my word how gorgeous was that, a whole Camenbert in its Wooden(?) Box with excellent crusty bread 😋 The Steak, now that's where we differ as my wife likes it rare but for me it's medium or rather so long as no "red juices" flow when I cut into it. Absolutely Perfect, and such flavour!!! The Best Steak I've ever tasted and complimented by home made onion rings, wedges and very nice mixed salad. And this followed by a trio of sweet treats and heart shaped chocolate. So, for £60 we had a beautiful, candle lit 3 course meal in lovely surroundings cooked to perfection by the kitchen gurus and served by very smart and friendly staff. Oh and what's more that £60 included a bottle of red wine and a single red rose for the ladies. Now the downside - I only had 1 glass of the wine as I was driving😭 If anyone can say it was better elsewhere how wrong they are!! Looking forward to next Valentines Day already as we know where we'll be!

Went for afternoon tea to celebrate a friends birthday today. Very disappointed in the lack of selection. The sandwich was nice enough, then one piece of Victoria sponge, which was again nice enough, then a scone which was rock hard and inedible. We complained about the scone, and were given an apology and told they would knock something off the bill. All they took off was the extra cup of coffee and a latte which we had.....as the tea and coffee included in the ‘afternoon tea’ is only the one cup, not refillable.... sorry but definitely not value for money.

Went for afternoon tea and was quite disappointed. Whilst the sandwiches and scones were ok we got a single slice of Victoria sponge which was a little on the dry side, it’s advertised as a selection of cakes. For the scones we had a ramekin full of jam and no more that a teaspoon of clotted cream between the two of us. After finally tracking a member of staff down we did get another teaspoons worth! The afternoon tea certainly didn’t bear any resemblance to the pictures on the website. At £26 for two was not good value. Staff were pleasant enough.

Ordered a few coffees which came to our table already spilled everywhere, again this was not mentioned by staff and nothing was done about it..... and the cakes came what felt like 20 mins later?? We visited for my daughters 14th birthday, having booked for afternoon tea. Unfortunately after 45 mins we had still not received food and when we asked what was happening, there had been a problem with the order, it felt like it had been forgotten. The serving staff were really helpful, the manager however refused to come out of the kitchen to speak to us. An hour after we arrived we were served a really lovely afternoon tea, sadly spoiled by the long wait and really bad service from the manager. We were compensated with 2 lots of fries taken off the bill-we had never ordered them, they were brought to keep us quiet, she wouldn’t take anything off the bill. Put the serving staff in a really difficult position, they did what they could for us and we’re lovely.

We visited today for afternoon tea. We've been really busy lately and had a couple of hours before one of us had to go to work so we thought we'd treat ourselves. First the table hadn't been cleaned from the last person but we were given it anyway. One of the minor things was we got our pot of tea but then had such a long wait for our food that by the time we got it we had both cold and no tea left. Then whilst waiting for it a flea was crawling on my partners tea cup and started jumping across the table when we tried catching it! The worst thing about today was that when the food finally arrived, the cakes were terrible. They were hard and dry! They must've been days old. It was tea for two and cost us £25.90 and as you can see from the photo was definitely not worth it. We had to cut the small slice of lemon cake and the bun in half because they didn't give us an equel selection. What made it worse was that they brought out another afternoon tea for the table next to us and it was completely different! They had big slices of fresh cakes. I left my food and when we went to pay I told the lady that we weren't impressed and asked if they did different types of afternoon tea to which she replied no. I then told her that the ladies on the table next to us got different to us so why did we get old hard buns? She only answered with "I'll let them know" and then told us how much we had to pay. I'm really disgusted. We left there feeling completely deflated and upset that our time was wasted and we were fobbed off with some old buns when the people that came after us got proper cakes. Had we recieved the afternoon tea those ladies got I wouldn't have minded paying £25.90 but we were clearly not as important to them as the old ladies. We won't be visiting here again. I just want to know why we got different to everyone else? It was like they fobbed us off with the old left overs they had to get rid of.

Heard brilliant things about afternoon tea at Chevals. Sadly and badly disappointed. The sandwich was delicious, ham and mustard. Two of us having afternoon tea but there must have been a shortage of jam, cream, chutney and coleslaw as the portion was tiny considering it was meant for two. One spong cake was wet at the bottom, common with defrosted cakes, the other cake was stale as were the scones. When I mentioned this I was informed that the salted caramel cake was a “hard sponge” this must be a new invention because the only hard sponge I have come across in 30 years of baking is when it’s stale.

Stopped here on recommendation of equine mad daughter - had very low expectations but was very pleasantly surprised. Warm welcome - nice ambience - excellent range of sandwiches , snacks and "light" meals. All the food we had was very tasty - well prepared and well presented and they certainly didn't skimp on portions . Was perhaps a little on the expensive side - definitely cheaper options around but I guess you get what you pay for. Will definitely drop in again.

I really like this place-the setting is excellent, the staff are pleasant and efficient and the food delicious BUT, yet again it is the presentation of the food which was strange. My wife and I chose sausage sandwich with fried onions and it was excellent, however, the three sausages were not cut up, so it meant that it was impossible to keep the sausages in the bread, whether trying to cut the sandwich in half or biting into it, so you has greasy hands from the onion and tomato sauce that I put on. Surely it is better to cut the sausages in half and give us a fighting chance!!

Called in for lunch - friendly staff, good choice of sandwiches, toasties etc but there wasn't the wow factor - all very ordinary and a little high on price. We will visit again but it wont be our first choice in the area

Called in here for a 'light' lunch on spec. It was certainly not light! On arrival we were greeted by a pleasant waitress, given menus and asked to choose a table. The menu although not extensive had a good variety of meals, sandwiches, desserts at a reasonable price. We chose a fish finger ciabbatta and omelette. The portion size was great - just right. The food arrived hot and with a smile from the young waitress, the ciabbatta with chips and salad and the omelette with new potatoes and salad. All the food on offer looked fantastic and well presented - difficult to choose from. We didn't partake in desserts as too full but will return to sample the scones at a later date. The ambience was relaxing, the tea room housed in former farm buildings adjacent to a pamper room offering treatments. It has a great outlook from the large windows towards the Humber Bridge across open countryside.

We visited under sad circumstances as we had just had a family funeral. The staff were friendly and sympathetic. The food was amazing, especially the coleslaw. The buffet had lots of variety. I would definitely go back hopefully in happier times.

We do love to come here, as the food is generally top class and my wife likes to watch the horses, if a lesson is going on. Not on this visit! My wife had a nice vegetable, soup, which she would have liked thicker than it was but it is personal taste. I had a nice sandwich, with a cup of tea. Unfortunately we realised after we had paid and were leaving that we had been overcharged and we had paid the neighbouring tables bill. It was all sorted out however!

I went here today for the first time for some lunch. The location is good being away from the road and into the countryside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was comprehensive and prices were pretty good. The main course arrived and was very good. We finished off with some home made cakes which were very tasty. I would recommend a visit here.

We have visited this café on several occasions and alway's been satisfied with both the food and drinks . But on this occasion the coffee & hot chocolate arrived in little clear plastic bowl type cups with no handle, yes the double thickness of the cup keeps the drinks hot but also reduce the volume. My mother pot of tea was excellent and more than enough for a couple of large cups.

We have visited here on numerous occasions at it has been first class. It is a nice setting and my wife was transfixed watching a young girl do a better training session on a horse than she does. The food etc is always great here and the service but on this visit, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered a beef sandwich but they had run out of beef, which was fair enough and so I order a cheese with caramelised chutney sandwich. I did not expect the chutney in a little bowl, separate to the sandwich. When opening the sandwich, it was grated cheese, which fell out all over the plate and it was difficult to put the chutney on the remaining cheese without that falling out as well. If the cheese had been sliced, it would have been easier. What would have been a lot easier, is is the chutney was just put in the sandwich at the start! My wife enjoyed her toastie and I did enjoy my messy sandwich but not as much as usual.

This was my second visit. It was a family lunch, our ages ranged from 3 to my 93 year old mum who is a wheelchair user. The cafe is very spacious and the tables are placed well apart, so plenty of room to move the wheelchair. The staff were all very pleasant and the menu is varied. Our order was taken promptly. The food did not disappoint in the least. The portions were more then adequate and the food could not be faulted. I had the goats cheese open sandwich which was delicious. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals. I can really recommend this place.

We went on a quiet Sunday afternoon out of season because the previous review said they allowed the dog to go inside. I asked if we could take the pup in and sit out of the way in the corner. The lady said no sorry I don’t allow dogs in at all.

We had lunch at The Potting Shed with family. This was a return visit, and we think it’s the best garden centre restaurant in the area. Soup was carrot and coriander (delicious, could’ve eaten more!), sandwiches were very fresh, and the haddock and chips were delicious. Restaurant is very clean and well laid out, tables not too close together. I’m sure we’ll be back!

This cafe is now called Miss Bs pantry. Very friendly ladies and delicious food. As a coeliac myself I have to have gluten free. This is very well catered for here so my partner and I have visited on numerous occasions.Various selection of savoury dishes and cakes. Lovely latte too. Well worth a visit.
