This place is so well located in the very charming town of Petworth. I would have anticipated something excellent to match the location and well-heeled locals. But the light lunch was very poor and very poor value.. The soup tasted mass-produced and the quiche was a disaster. I think pea and egg was fine - indeed peas with mint are are lovely. But mint mixed with egg just didn't work. My partner and I felt nauseous for the rest of the day.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but this time I can't pass it up. I went for lunch today with my partner. We ordered our food and coffee so far so good. Two tables were left - one with only one chair and the other without any. I took the one with the chair and decided to ask one of the tables if the chair was available and it wasn't so my parner asked the staff politely,if they could provide us with one. Meanwhile, two people left the bar space. The staff lady said "sorry we don't have another chair" and I said could you bring one from outside (as there are outside tables with lots of chairs but it's cold and rainy today and there's nothing to protect you from the rain). The lady said” I should ask the manager “and then immediately changed her mind without asking anyone and said "no actually today is Saturday and it's very busy, customers are moving chairs around and there are no chairs". Sit at the bar, directing it. All they had to do was bring a chair from outside and wipe it down as it was wet from the rain (honestly, I didn't even mind wiping it myself). This is so disrespectful. We already paid for our food and coffee, the bar was busy before and even if it wasn't I wouldn’t have chosen it as the stools are without back support and it's too small for what we order (it's called a bar for a reason, it's for drinks, not for lunch). I also have sciatica, discomfort and back pain which I didn't even wanted to bring on as it's a sensitive subject. The people next to us probably felt bad for us and offered their chair and went to the bar as they said they only had one quick drink. I felt bad for this offer since they were my parents' age and I usually will offer my seat to them. This situation was so wrong. Staff should always offer a solution to customers, especially when they charge you for everything already and there is an quick option. What else I noticed for the time we were in -6 people entered the cafe and left because there were two empty tables and no chairs. So 4 of them could actually stay and at least have had a drink . The food was good, we ordered brie/cranbery sandwiches which came with salad and chips on the side. Double espresso which was also good, brownies and doughnut with jam were all good. But the attitude is disappointing. We asked politly for something so simple. My first job at the age of 18 was in a coffee shop. I have never been disrespectful to customers. Always find a solution. Today I am a 36-year-old woman and I have my own business. Disrespecting my customers is disrespecting myself.

We visited Cherry’s on a busy Saturday lunchtime. There was a long queue to be served but plenty of empty tables, so we waited it out. There were 3 or 4 young members of staff all rushed off their feet. Despite their best efforts, service was slow and it was a long wait before we placed our order and another long wait for the order to arrive (which was surprising since sandwiches and quiche were all pre-made and visible in the refrigerator). The sandwiches were decent, although the bread was cut a bit thick for my liking. The bacon and onion quiche, however, was swimming in grease and had pretty much disintegrated after being reheated. Prices charged for sandwiches and quiches are what I would describe as top end. The overwhelming impression we had of the cafe, however, was how grubby it was. The floor was covered in crumbs, food, stains and dirt which made the whole place feel unclean. The bench seats and tables were sticky. The area behind the counter was chaotic and messy. Clearly more staff were needed to keep on top of this. There was zero presence of any manager etc overseeing a busy Saturday service, and the few poor staff that were there had been left to muddle through. As others have said, this cafe occupies a prime position in a beautiful town. The other eateries in town are all better, cleaner and represent more value for money.

Went in for afternoon tea. Not sure how there can be so many staff, doing so little. Tea tasted like cheap PG Tips. What really turned us off, was the disgusting state inside the mugs. The obvious problem is that we didn’t see the filth, until we had drank the tea!😾 We checked underneath the mugs, and saw they were IKEA, so if so permanently stained, they could have been cheaply replaced. The establishment is in a prime location, on the route from the car park, so should be thriving. The management obviously don’t care one bit, as there are so many poor reviews, going on for so long.

On a very hot day 27 degrees I saw icecream advertised at Cherry's deli. I joined a queue 10-15 mins at the till where the assistant was making the drinks and taking the money. When it came to my turn I was told they weren't doing icecream (hottest day of the year so far) when I pointed out I 'd stood in the queue all this time I was told sorry. There were three staff and I even saw one of them taking tubs of icecream to the freezer. The organisation was chaotic and if I was the owner I would be ashamed to have reviews like they have. At best they could take the sign down. Just to add all the time I stood there I watched a fly buzzing and settling on the salad dish- but somehow the other two staff didn't seem to notice. Catering at it's worse I think the fact it's the first cafe after the carpark probably keeps it going.

Stopped here on a whim as we were visiting the town. After a wander round the antique shops, we wanted a quick bite before continuing in our car to get home. (Car park free for 1 hour btw, just put your reg no in machine and display ticket in car). They only had sausage roll with added cheese left, it was a very tasty, that came with salad and tortilla chips, a really well stuffed coronation chicken sandwich on granary again with salad and tortilla chips and a piece of Bakewell tart and a coffee. Service was quick. Sat outside in the courtyard area, close to some air con units so they were a little bit warm and noisy but there was ample seating inside. No toilet facilities. All food was good, service was fine, despite others reviews I would use this cafe again.

Took a while to order at the counter. Several staff working away, but none looking up. Ordered the pesto salad and received a dinner plate piled high with pasta which had been tossed in pesto. A few green leaves under the pasta and a small number of tomatoes. The food was disappointing and would comfortably have fed two. Some parasols would be good on such a hot day.

Stopped in Petworth for a walk around and a coffee. Cherries looked very inviting. the standard of the flapjack was not great. My husband had a coffe. I asked for mug of hot water (I do not drink hot beverages} the youg lady on the till who also made the coffee was very obliging and put some cold water in mug for me. Very dissapointed when I got back to table as the tray was very grubby and there was a nasty dark brown stain in the bottom of my mug, which had obviously built up over time, therefore I could not drink my water. I would not like to think the state of the other mugs!!!!

I had a lovely experience here a couple of weeks ago. The staff were really helpful when I took my elderly friend in for a spot of lunch. Staff were friendly and the food was really tasty, I had a panini and it was toasted to perfection with that gorgeous crunchy outside a delicious gooey mozzarella inside! ! Thank you!

Do not expect too much. It is an average cafe. Some menu items were unavailable. Considering it is in Petworth and situated in a prime spot, I did expect a better cafe. See photos.

Dirty, overpriced, expensive. Food mediocre. Prime location, deserves to be so much better in its surroundings. Clearly needs some reshuffling of staff/management. The idea of the place is wonderful, the concept is great but the food, service, cleanliness really needs addressing.

What a difference a year makes. Nice to sit outside in the summertime, but in winter, no. Things inside have been shifted about, and nothing for the better. Unengaged weekend staff, a tea bag plonked in a mug for £2.75, and nothing much to eat in the deli other than dry looking quiche. Where have all the lovely cheeses gone? We decided that nothing on show appealed, and ventured elsewhere. Oh, and carry your own tray now.

You have to queue to order your food/drinks and there is a sign that says ‘we’re cashless’ something that is very frustrating if you only want a coffee or tea and would like to pay cash. The person taking the order also makes the tea or coffee. Prices are pretty steep compared with other tea shops or Petworth House. Its in a great position within the town, near the car park but the candy stripes red and white decor makes the place feel cold. Staff are not very friendly and they seem to always be advertising for staff.

Inside was very hot and the windows had a lot of condensation so we decided to get our coffee in take away cups and sat outside. After about 5 mins of sitting outside we were told we could not use the seating area as we had our drinks in takeout cups! Would have understood if they were busy but they were not, they had 5 empty tables. Very disappointed, another couple who did the same as us were also told to leave and they looked at us in complete disbelief at what we had been asked! Needless to say I won’t be visiting again and I shall take my business elsewhere. See the picture, totally empty outside.

We visited this cafe after a muddy walk around Petworth House and wish to provide a very positive review. 1. The food. I enjoyed a good size bowl of soup and croutons both homemade and a slab of granary bread, which was well priced. My husband had a beef, rocket and horseradish sauce sandwich, which at first seemed expensive but on arrival include a large salad garnish and crisps. 2. The tables were cleared promptly and cleaned off with antibac spray. Other diners were clearly enjoying the quiches and sausage rolls. We would recommend it.

Well, I'm afraid that like others who have posed here, I wish I had read the reviews before wasting an hour of my life in this place. Why does the woman at the till make the coffees as well? It slows down the service to an unacceptable level. Two sandwiches took about 40 minutes; the staff were surly and the food overpriced. People gave up queueing, the trays were dirty. I could go on but others have made their complaints eloquently. Needs a complete overhaul and a lesson on customer service. Pah! Never again.

I visited the Cherry Tea rooms yesterday with my daughter and her mother-in-law who has dementia and lives in a care home in Petworth. We strolled up to the town and sat outside in the very pleasant square where the cafe is located. I went in to order two teas and a coffee and faced an interminable wait due to the pathetic organisation (I use the word loosely) of the whole place. I was behind three other people in the queue, one of whom ordered five different coffees and cakes. Amazingly, the girl who took the order then proceeded to make the coffees and plate the cakes while the queue grew ever longer. It then started to reduce in size though as many people simply gave up and left. When it was my turn I asked for two pots of tea and a flat white coffee. I was told, “we don’t do pots of tea – only mugs”. SERIOUSLY? I told the girl we were sitting outside and she said I had to wait and carry them out myself – not the greatest hardship in the world, I accept, but what sort of place is this? I see the Management have responded to some earlier reviews so I would be grateful to hear their comments on my review and answer three simple questions. * Why does the same member of staff who takes the order then make all the drinks causing queues to build up? * Can they really afford to lose the amount of business they clearly do by people giving up and leaving? * This is 2023 – no pots of tea? A really poor place I urge people to avoid – there are far better establishments in Petworth.

Stopped of in the lovely village for Petworth for a bit of coffee and cake . Nicely located and tucked away cute cafe . However the food doesn’t match the location . A classic Victoria sponge was dry with a sickly buttercream . Poor selection of cakes - lots of short reads and brownie type “biscuits” but no other cakes . For almost £9 for a latte and cake this was well below expectations and not worth the slow service . Save for the cute location and decent- enough coffee this place was not worth the visit .

Appallingly rude staff. The cafe was about a quarter full, with three staff behind the counter doing nothing. We were ignored on arrival, so we asked, politely, whether we should take a seat, or order at the counter. The angry looking young woman behind the counter rolled her eyes, snapped and barked at us. We left.

Twenty five pounds for two pieces of quiche and two drinks!! I understand a business has overheads but that is extortionate! I had the exact same meal a few months ago in Horsham and that only cost £16.55, and it was a lot better! To top it off my partner was ignored whilst queuing. I just wish I had've looked at the reviews beforehand. Clearly the owner doesn't read their reviews. Never again.

I was picking up my car from a garage in Kirdford. to think my wife are bringing Me across I decided to stop at the half-moon pub to treat her to lunch as we approach the pub the front door appeared locked however there was no times of opening or closing or no menus we walked around the side to find people inside as we arrived towards the rear of the pub we presented with a beautiful garden and I noticed a rear patio door I opened the patio door and a man said what do you want? I said are you open? His reply was the front door is locked. What does that tell you. I found this to be extremely rude considering they are supposed to be serving the publicyoung lady came up to us and told us sorry sir we’re not opening until midday at this time. It was 1146 whilst the pub was closed. The man’s rudeness has made me realise I never need to visit this pub again. I’m not sure if he’s the owner of the worker chef or just someone in there, but I found his rudeness to be completely and utterly unacceptable on this occasion.
