My favourite Chinese food in banbury. Loyal customer forever

Just ordered and payed for special egg fried rice with extra egg and it was rubbish , no meat or prawns hardly but plenty of rice with egg, been ripped off not happy 🤬

Ordered egg fried rice. Arguably the worst one i’ve had. No flavour, no taste , no seasoning. It was basically cooked rice.

Was not very busy but the service was nice not pushy, food was hot all in all very pleasant.

Friendly, welcoming, good food, happy days.

ordered a meal at 6:50pm said it would be 20 minutes ended up being over an hour wait with people ordering and getting theirs within 10 and losing our order

Not great at all compared to others. Poor rice, poor chips. A long wait and a fair few quid for what it’s worth ! A lot better in Banbury!

Probably a nice restaurant but having no menu available, usually an old menu photographed which is out of date. Update your menu and people will not go somewhere else. Good peace of advice. Thought about takeaway but menu I saw is no longer available as restaurant receptionist advised. Boring.!!!.

Ordered salt and pepper chips was decent size for £5 decent portion.

I have been there to order a House special what my wife loves the most and she absolutely loved it, she always want to eat there food as we think is the best in Banbury, they got a very good taste and the portion size is very good and big as it is supposed to be at a takeaway!! The staff are very friendly and can explain to you all their menu. I will always choose them for the Chinese takeaway. They need an award for the best takeaway in Banbury!!

Do not go here, I ordered orange chicken with friend rice on friday night and was violently ill for 6 days after. This was the closest i've come to death and would not wish it on my worst enemy.

1st time hand have to say what a great restaurant had a takeaway order in shop staff was friendly and Once got home tucked in lovely flavours and all nice and hot would use again.

Favourite Chinese. Very pleasant on the phone. Can be a lil wait at peak times but to be expected. Only downside is nearest car parking can be a lil long if collecting food. Food always on point though

Definitely the best Chinese in Banbury town but not the best ever. Food can sometimes be a little bit hit and miss. Service is good. Food is always hot. A very friendly family run business. Good prices for quality of food.

Recently moved to the area and have tried EVERY Chinese in Banbury and this is my favourite. Lost a star as a recent order wasn't 100% correct. Pricier than others but better.

Purchased £35.00 worth from there last night, worst ever; food tasteless, noodle dry, fried rice was boiled rice with a few vegetables with boil chicken. Will not be using again..

Food quality not what it use to be. Don't know if there has been a change in the kitchen but less tasty and more greasy.

Really good have ordered meny time in the passed but think they need to do what they other Chinese takeaways are doing and that is on line ordering be much easier and quicker than to keep ringing

Just had to say thank you for an amazing meal we've just enjoyed. It was delicious!! There was a slight hiccup with our order but it was soon sorted without any fuss, even though they were so busy,and delivered out to us quickly. Highly recommended..

Been going to chens for 3yrs now.. Never had a bad meal yet.. Not always on time but the food never disappoints , worth the wait 2hrs or more..

I had an order from Chen’s today, they have Very fresh food and very fast delivery!

Have they got a new chef, food not as good. Always had the kung po, this now comes with no batter. More sauce than prawns. Will now go elsewhere

Pre ordered at 5pm, for a 7.30pm delivery. It's past 8pm and they are telling me they are still cooking it. Not acceptable. I was recommended this place. 1st and last time I order here... Back to Paw Paw

So sad what ever has been changed in the kitchen, change it back. I've been a loyal customer of Chen's for over 16 years and tonight they have lost my custom for good. Two and a half hours before we got our delivery, when it arrived driver very polite and apologized but food cold, missing chips and so greasy it will keep my fire going for the rest of the year.Goodbye Chen's

Only ever had takeaway from Chen's but it is always spot on. Food is piping hot and consistently great.

We were a family of 3 and had a lovely meal here ..our grandson ordered his own meal of chicken rice curry chips spring rolls..I had the salt and pepper chicken with my husband and it was all very tasty ..staff were friendly and helpful..will definitely go back when next in banbury

I was told about this takeaway and tried it and it met the expectations of what I Had been told. Excellent service and great food.

I ordered on Sunday around dinner time. I expected it to be a while since I was already ordering around that close to dinner. Luckily to my surprise it took under 45 mins and was actually HOT when we got it. My daughter had to let hers cool down. We will definitely order from here again. I recommend the House Special Fried Rice.

Have been using Chen’s for 5+ years. This is the 1st time we’ve placed an order for 12 months and wow what a difference. Both my husband and I had sickness and diarrhoea after both commenting that the food tasted ‘funny’, needless to say, won’t be using again.

Composed staff even while dealing with loud drunks. Good food as always and reasonable prices.

Just visiting Banbury for a couple of nights, fancied a Chinese and happened across Chens. How lucky were we, brilliant meal fairly priced with outstanding but non intrusive service. Went for the set meal with some changes and well well pleased.

We visited this little restaurant on a recent trip to Banbury. Fantastic food, great service and very friendly staff. All in all we had a fantastic time and will return when next in Banbury.

On a Saturday night you will wait for over 2 hours for a delivery, the driver explained its due to too many customers in the restaurant.The food eventually arrived and they’d not included any pancakes for the duck! I’ve used them for over 10 years but will now go elsewhere.

We bought a half crispy duck tonight to add to our very healthy salad. Service was quick and friendly. The duck was ready to collect in just 5 minutes. The place seemed quite busy - other people ordering and collecting. We were very happy with the tasty and crispy duck. Thank you.

The best Chinese in Banbury! Able to eat in, take out or get delivered. Portions are huge and always get complimentary prawn crackers. The staff speak very clear English too.

This was probably the worst chinese restaurant I have been to. The prices seem ok but the quality of the food is so bad that it is not worthy. My noodles were completely overcooked and the beef that came with them seemed taken from a can instead of fresh. Everything was dry and tasteless. Also worth mentioning that they make you spend a minimun of £9 per person if you want to sit in the restaurant (and they insisted on this even though we were the only customers).

Chen's Cottage is the place to go. I ate here two years ago and twice on a visit recently. The first time was after I decided not to eat at Thai Orchid (see my review about that). The people are so nice here. They are talkative although English is always the first language of the server, they are friendly and courteous.

Arrived at around 19:00 on a Monday night and seriously quiet, I was the only dinner. Team were very attentive and I chose the Tiger beer, delicious before checking the menu. Not spoilt for choice but I started with barbecue ribs followed by special curry with egg fried rice. The bill was £20, so very reasonable and the good superb. Really impressed and wondered how this place had got low marks by some!

Don't have many Chinese takeaways but when we do it's always from here can't fault the food and price and general delivered when they say,very impressed indeed

A good Chinese, great after a night out or for a take away. Food is good and staff are friendly. Food is clean and tasty with good portion size. Set menu contains plenty of food and comes out quickly. Wine and drinks are reasonably priced. Toilets are in good condition with a ground floor disabled toilet available. Mid week was not busy when we went but have been on weekends where is is more busy and service and food are the same level.

Nice place to eat with friendly staff , could do with a make over and there is only one bathroom. Food was nice and didn't take to long. Will go back.

The food was great as usual, although there were a few language barriers while ordering our food. The Singapore rice noodles are very nice.

I was shocked to pay £39 for: Sweet n sour chicken balls Salt & pepper chips Normal chips Half a duck with extra salad Egg rice Crackers Pulled my pants back up on the way out. Not to mention you forgot one portion of chips. Great food, no fault with that but severely overpriced - claimed prices has risen by 20p when half a duck went up from £15 to £18.30. Takes the piss mugging people off because you think you have the monopoly when your just going to lose customers based on this. Robbed! I won’t be returning.

Arrived at Chen’s cottage having called ahead for a table ... stood there like a lemon for 5 minutes then was told sorry no more tables for tonight!

Told 45 min for delivery ....cut long story short delivery driver turned up and was abusive and swore ...food was cold and almost inedible. ..called Chens they didn't care ...order took over hour nd half ...will advise anyone not to waste time and money on such bad service and horrible food

Good food but cash only for delivery. No one has cash anymore. I was happy to pay over the phone but they wouldn't except it. Shame

Love the food at Chen’s cottage the staff are always very welcoming & it’s good value ! It’s easily accessible being close to parking at Banbury cross & within 5 minutes walk of the market place

I am a regular customer here and never disappointed. Customer service is unbelievable and they always sort me a good Chinese! Best in Oxfordshire- MR Chen should be proud of his girls. I recommend the crispy chilli chicken with no veg! Up the Banbury
