The quality of the food here is disappointing. They serve chutney and sambar straight from the fridge, and the Chicken Biriyani tastes like boiled chicken with flavorless, low-quality rice. To top it off, they don't have a POS machine, so customers must carry cash, which feels a bit dodgy. Moreover, the bearded staff member is unprofessional and lacks proper customer service skills.

Southern Indian food. Unfortunately served Luke warm apart from Gobi 65 which was very good although not sure the price is @£7.99 a starter portion! Butter chicken was excellent. Chilli chicken Dosa disappointing, very sweet veg & chicken, soggy Dosa, accompaniments very bland. A bottle of kingfisher £5.99!!Toilets need a good clean & makeover.

Chennai Dosa in Ipswich offers a vibrant taste of South Indian cuisine in a casual, friendly setting. Known for its authentic dosas—crispy, flavorful, and generously portioned—it’s a hit among those craving traditional Indian food. The menu covers a wide variety of options, from classic masala dosa to idli, uttapam, and a selection of spicy curries. Prices are affordable, making it a popular spot for families and students alike. However, service can sometimes be a bit slow during peak hours, but the delicious food and authentic flavors are worth the wait. If you’re in Ipswich and looking for an authentic South Indian dining experience, Chennai Dosa is definitely worth a visit.

Don't expect standard Indian rstaurant fare- the menu is full of special South Indian dishes, including vegetarian specialities. The dosas- giant pancakes- are extremely good. The staff are friendly and helpful- on my last visit I forgot a paper, and the waiter came haring down the road after me with it! Prices are extremely reasonable, and the food superb. Warmly recommended However, be prepared- cash only!

This is a good restaurant to have south part of Indian cousin in a budget. They serve very good Indian savoury and main courses. Only part I would say not good is they always mandate customer to pay via cash. I think they should be enable card payment as the payments will be recorded to the government of UK and it will be hassle free for customers.

A small yet charming Indian eatery. This is a very authentic Indian Restraunt with everything you’d want to find. Although the cuisine is slightly different to what i’d usually find in the restraunts I usually visit, I found the dishes to be very tasty and at good value. The only downside would be that some items were off the menu, although this may be due to the authenticity of the restraunt, it is also very small and could do with a paint job. The staff were very attentive and please remember that it is cash only!

I have been a long time patron of Chennai Dosa, and it's sad to see how shambolic the food has become. Ordered masala dosa, the filling seemed as if the potato was boiled and filled without any spices. The fish fry stinked, as if the fish was rotten. It's become a trend now with other friends also complaining about the degrading food standard.

A menu with an extensive menu, majoring on a good selection of southern Indian dishes, such as dosas, idly and oothappam, plus some traditional curry house favourites such as Biryani. Warm and friendly - we have always found the service to be very quick and efficient. Well supported by the local south asian expat community, normally a sign of approval from customers who know their cuisine. Just over the road from the Ipswich Regent theatre. Currently cash only, there are several cash points within a short distance. Has become our regular destination for Indian food. Recommended.

Familiar with this chain from London. Uninspiring interior. Food was very expensive for what it was. Kids didn't like the mango lassie which is highly unusual. The paneer Biryani was good. Chicken fried rice was good but a little dry. Vegetarian samosas were tasteless and pretty much inedible. The Idli was good apparently though I didn't try it. Large bottles of cobra and kingfisher available😁.

It was good option earlier but not anymore. Food is very oily these days. In terms of costs - a) only cash taken now when compared to card payments option available earlier b) not giving actual exchange in return as well and rounding the exchanges without consent. c) CRAZY takeaway food price - 34% higher than eat-in price for products. Not aware of any UK restaurant having charging such high charges for takeaways when collection has to be in person. d) Earlier online portals service for placing takeaway order is stopped as well and has to be in person.

Stumbled across the Chennai Dosa prior to going to a show at The Regent, across the road, having not been here previously and not being a local. The food was okay, nothing outstanding but nice enough, and plenty of it. However, the biryani dish did not come with an additional curry , which is the first time I have known that and my sons chicken biryani had a hard boiled egg planted in the middle underneath the rice. Our popadoms were very greasy to the point we needed to thoroughly wash our hands afterwards and one of the sauces that accompanied them was identical to a curry dip you get from McDonalds and the like. The bill too was a bit of a shock , at £45 for two of us, which consisted of popadoms, a biryani each with a curry between us and a coke each. I am not sure it represented particularly good value for money. The service was pretty good and friendly however one of those serving had grease stains on his top which is not a great advert. In the Regent afterwards I was bizarrely recognised by another customer who asked my for my thoughts and I told them, and I received their total agreement. However, that all said, it was doing a fair trade with a reasonable number of customers appearing to be of Asian appearance, which generally I would suggest potentially contradicts my thoughts.

The best takeaway in Ipswich, maybe even Suffolk!. Been ordering from here for the past few years and every meal is outstanding. Other Indian restaurants/takeaways we have tried in the area are either not spicy enough or too oily, whereas Masha get it right every time while maintaing great value. Could not recommend more highly and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Delivery drivers are also always really friendly.
