It's a takeaway food is crap,not authentic and not all consistent poor chef tastes like out of a jar sticky mess vile 😫 Do not go there! 😡

So disappointed! Lady was so rude and vile over the phone. I used to order regularly but the customer service is shocking now. Please avoid at all costs. I have experienced it in person and over the phone with the current lady serving. Awful service such a shame it’s gone downhill

I hardly leave reviews but feel I have to as some on here are so bad… haven’t had food from here for AGES… but it’s recently had new management or change of ownership. First up… you can now order online with delivery (before you had to go in and pay cash). Ordered food on a busy night but it arrived 10 mins before expected. Big portions. Hot and really good. Actually had lots of flavour (which can be lacking from some Chinese takeaways which I always find strange and Chinese food should be packed with flavour). 5 stars from us. Will order again 👍

Im only rating it a 1 as I can't give it a 0. Me and my girlfriend had food from this place on Wednesday night. Within 5 hours she was on the toilet with food poisioning. It was the worst food poisioning I have ever seen and she ended up in hospital on a drip. Do not eat here under any circumstances.

Oh my goodness I have never ever had such a terrible take away. It was £55 for 2 of us (delivered) and it was absolutely inedible. We ordered 1/2 duck and they forgot the onion and cucumber the ribs and chicken satay was absolutely cremated and tasteless. We threw it in the bin and got fish and chips. Awful.

Just had a delivery and have to say the food was fantastic, speedy delivery too. I like eating Chinese food and this excelled, great to have a takeaway that deliver.

Twice in one week! We're holidaying I Chipping Norton and have had two takeaways from Chefs Cottage in a week (calories don't count on holiday right?) The first one we ordered online and collected, the shop staff were super friendly and helpful, we received our order quickly and the food was lovely! Only downside was the chicken ball batter was a little mushy in the middle. Second time we ordered online for delivery, at £8 the delivery fee is high for a 10 min drive but worth it as again the food was outstanding and piping hot. Both times we asked for slight menu changes and we received them both times no fuss. Shame we have to go home as I'd love a 3rd this week haha!

Was worried after reading previous ratings but shouldn’t have . Squid was delicate and crispy , crispy chilli beef was tasty . Really generous portion of sesame prawn breads too . On top of this the delivery was timely and delivered by Chris Martin of Coldplay .

Went into the shop to order were told our food which was only 3 items would be ready in 10 minutes, however as more people came in to order and others who had ordered over the phone came in to collect it was clear the staff couldn't cope. The person taking orders had no idea what he was doing and had been sending the newest orders to be made first. This resulted in a 45 minute wait for 2 small dishes and some rice - not how I wanted to spend my evening. The food wasn't all that pleasant either, chicken was fatty and the crispy shredded beef sauce just did not taste right, certainly not worth the wait or the money. We will be ordering from elsewhere in future.

Racist people won't deliver to us because 1 person didn't pay for food years ago and when I said would you do that if 1 person did the same thing in a street of houses would you not deliver to the full street? The reply was no but that's different isn't it!!!! Racist and volatile people all because we're traveler's.....

Disappointed. Friendly staff (which gains the 1 star) but food has to be the nastiest cheapest Chinese I’ve ever had 😢 good job I’m not a local or I’d have been back for a refund

The food quality is so poor I threw £45 worth of food in the bin and cooked for myself. Every aspect of the meal was just wrong, the starters are worse than supermarket microwave starters and the mains are no better. All of the meat was rancid, the chicken was so tough I took one mouth full and spat it out. I don't understand how they have any positive reviews, either the owners wrote their own or paid someone to write them. Avoid like the plague

We arrived 15 minutes after close but the wonderful staff kept the restaurant open to serve us some delicious food. Really lovely, polite staff who were so accommodating. Highly reccomend!

One of the best Chinese takeaways I've ever eaten food from. Their fried bean curd is delicious and I'd recommend it to anyone, I've never had a disappointing meal from this establishment and the staff are lovely, friendly and helpful.

Always go to this Chinese as it’s what my dad likes, the past couple of times haven’t been great but decided to give it another go, always have crispy shredded chilli beef, this time it was the worst and safe to say I will never return. 2 meals £20 and this is what we are given!

I have never had a Bad Meal from there, Lovely Staff and Owners, only reason for 4 star is they do not take Card over phone, and rarely have Cash nowadays. Maybe some are trolling but i like it.

I should have smelled a rat when I saw all the prices on the menus had been increased by felt tipped pen. This place is very expensive so I assumed it would be good quality food. It isn't. There's plenty of the cheap ingredients but very little meat. It is all cooked very badly and what should have been crispy meals were a tasteless mulch. Payments are made by cash only, in a pandemic. I don't know why and the guy on the desk wasn't saying. The place has the look of a bunch of amateurs pitching up day by day and trying their luck. The biggest surprise here is that they get any good reviews.

Never had a bad meal, tremendous service, good fresh cooked food, lovely atmosphere, lovely people. Really recommend this takeaway, delivery service excellent.

When a Chinese can get chicken balls and chips wrong you need to worry. Well I say chicken balls, more ball than chicken. Chips were at least thrice cooked. Curry sauce was just wet, no flavour literally just brown wet liquid. Shredded beef was day glow pink again no flavour. We then played hunt the squid but when we found it like the chicken balls was just batter. The only decent part of the meal was the crab and sweet corn soup.

Really applaud by the terrible service, had my order messed up twice.. I ordered a delivery of vegatable noodles, when it arrived it was full of meat. I rang up chefs cottage only to be told it was what I had ordered, however they kindly offered to send out a new delivery. The man on the phone even double checked and asked me would I like eggs or meat to which I replied no. The delivery was fast however there was meat in my dish again.. I rang back up only to be told I was wrong and was handed over to the chef who was adement she was correct.. No apology in any of this may I add. I decided it was best I go into show them, only for the lady to argue with me it wasn't meat. I'll add a picture and you can make your own minds up....

Spectacularly skilled at extracting every single flavour out of food and representing it as something which almost resembles something vaguely edible. So impressed. The experience reminded me of a girl I once met. Got home with some expectation, took the wrapper off to and dramatically lost my appetite. If this is the chefs cottage then no bloody wonder there’s a housing crisis.

This is my go-to takeaway in Chipping Norton. Always tasty and quick from order to ready. Some of the reviews on here are a bit unfair. The food IS cooked fresh - you can hear the stir-fry pan clacking and sizzling away in the back. Have never had a problem. Would recommend for hearty, tasty Chinese takeaway.

PROBABLY THE WORST FOOD I'VE EVER HAD. I JUST WANT TO FORGET ABOUT IT I guess 've were lucky we're not all I'll. How do they get away with it And bloody expensive !!

Battered king prawns, duck, chicken, ribs and curry, all very tasty, freshly cooked, will definitely use again.

I ordered a takeaway last night and they told me to pick it up in 5 minutes... that should have rung alarm bells right there !!!!I was literally 15 doors away so I set off after 4 mins I when I got there it was waiting !! It was the most watery disgusting Chinese takeaway I have EVER had !Prawn chow mein , chicken and cashew tasted the same and lovely ones like they were cooked in dishwater ... do not waste your money as I’m sure it’s all frozen and heated up as I’m pretty sure you can’t cook those 2 dishes plus crispy seaweed and chicken satay plus chicken rice in 6 minutes and all boxed up and waiting !!I cannot believe it’s still going.., the worst £32 I’ve ever spent !

I live in this town and only got a takeaway from here because others were closed. Special curry had two pieces of beef and two pieces of chicken - that's it. Sauce was all oil and really thin. Rubbish, as the title says.

Picked up a takeaway, early evening, not busy, lots of staff hanging around. Took a while to prepare. Egg rolls very greasy, chow mein, awful, not much in it, not good value for money.

We use this takeaway every month, it's convenient for us and the food is ok!! Can't complain, and the food is fresh and cooked daily!!

Very very quick service- food wasn't appalling but have had better! Big portions so good if your really hungry! Order the beansprout noodles- best thing we ate!

Some friends and I ordered a takeaway from here. Found the food to be ridiculously greasy and unappetising. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered 8 different dishes, the order was timely, staff pleasant and food hot. However, we only enjoyed 4, finding the remaining dishes bland and with very little flavour. Overall disappointing as it wasn't cheap.
