New Dragon House in West Oxfordshire

I used to go to the dragon house regularly 15 odd years ago, circumstances changed and I hadn't been in over a decade. Decided to pop in for a quick and easy lunch. Really tasty food, good selection, and very reasonable price. Had chips rice and sauce. Enough to be really filling and less than £5.

Fave local Chinese takeaway! Always good food and excellent service! Would eat it everyday if I could!

We had decided to order and asked for the delivery to arrive at 18:30. 17:35 it turned up. We ordered a chicken curry boiled rice, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style. The curry tasted of salt only the sweet and sour was bearly warm. We also ordered vegetable spring rolls all pastry no vegetables. It cost us nearly £30 for an order that turned up an hour early and was just about edible. AVOID

Eaten here many times, very little issue. cash only, friendly staff and great food. Can be a long wait if there is low staff or busy. Would recommend for anyone

Newer buy in this place!!!!! I've ordered a king prawns with mushrooms and with rice and I get one small box, half rice half mushrooms with 3 prawns in it!!!! For 9.80£ !!!!!!!! 4 stars just for taste.

This is the worst Chinese takeaway I have had for the money and they say the menu on line is wrong come on Paul you changed me 25 pound for house special curry with no rice king prawn balls and house special fried rice the curry was small with lots of veg no prawns just lots of onions and mushrooms .

Haven't been to this place since i left the country nearly 20 years ago. Always had good food back then and didn't disappoint when i returned. House Special Fried Rice tasted exactly how i remembered it when i used to live in Carterton.

We’ve been using this for years, but have noticed a decline! A few times our food has turned up stone cold and burst in the bag, after an hour and a half wait. Irks me they don’t take card. Always leads you to assumptions why.

Always used to be our go-to but of recent months the quality of food hasn't been as good as it used to be. As they were closed this weekend we tried Peking Chef and that was so good we're now converts, especially as they also deliver to Faringdon.

Ordered food to be delivered to Burford, Arrived spot on time and food was hot and thoroughly enjoyed it Will certainly be Ordering food from them again 😋

I ordered a home delivery this was my first order with them they delivered to me in faringdon the food was piping hot when it arrived the delivery lady was lovely the food was top quality very tasty and full of flavour myself and my daughter enjoyed the food very much also the pricing was very good I will most definitely be using them from now on I recommend them 100%..

Took an hour to come and forgot half of the order and had to wait 35 mins till rest arrived and the previous had gone cold by that time . made us pay £10 for them coming back out even though it was their fault . Wouldn’t go there again!

Not highly recommended. I didn’t appreciate the food for amount of money I paid. The prawn noodles was only with onions, gravy and 6 prawns. Beef noodles dried and Lots of onion in it with gravy. Sauces salty. No KFS when delivered. Never see noodles with gravy . What kind of food is that? Guys make sure when you order your food double check. But personally will not recommend people to eat much there.

Had a chicken and sweetcorn with egg fried rice. There was zero chicken in it, only sweetcorn

Had friends party recently was looking for Chinese takeaway and ordered from this place and the amount of food we ordered for ten people waited over 1 hour and a half when we got the food some was cold chips were overcooked prawn crackers most were broken curry tasted like powdered curry personally I think overall bad experience and over priced considering how much food we ordered and waited

We have never been to the New Dragon House before, and I can honestly say I'll never go back. The king prawns that were in my dish were soggy and mushy, (putrid!) I've Never had prawns like this before. The whole dish was totally overcooked and the mushroom rice was a dish of salt. Both inedible. My husband's special fried rice didn't have any prawns in it, totally missed from the dish, so that was a blessing except his dish was also just salt. The BBQ sauce on the spare ribs was just pure sugar and the ribs themselves was totally burnt with very little meat. What a total disappointment and waste of money to be put in the recycling bin.

Whenever we’re in Carterton we get take away from here. Always good hot food.

I go for the first time there .I ordered sweet and sour chicken with rice .I was ask to make bank transfer as the don’t take card payment.Anyway 10 minutes later I collect my food .pretty much all evening I have really bad food poisoning symptoms .I will never ever again order from this restaurant again .

Been looking for a Chinese take away that deliver and the food is good for ages and at least we have found one . Mega quick delivery and the food was stop on, 10/10 . Very happy customer

Really disappointed - very slow delivery (2hrs, food lukewarm and very poor quality.

Recieved lukewarm food 2 hours after ordering. Called twice to chase, and was lied to about the eta, and refused a discount. However, delivery driver was very apologetic and food is decent, hence the 2 stars.

Have been here over the years and have had fantastic food however, ordered some chicken balls and halfway through eating them we noticed they were undercooked (as shown in the photo). Very didsapointed as I do like the food here, its put us off ordering chicken balls again unfortunately.

Very good Chinese !! Slightly more expensive than the ones around here but 100% worth it. You get bigger portion sizes and better quality food. Very busy on the weekends but the people on the phone explain the wait times and some drivers call to explain when on their way. The delivery side covers ALOT of west Oxfordshire from Milton right over to Stanford! Would deffo recommend 🥰 I would suggest maybe getting a card machine for customers who come in to the shop and the 1 bank in carterton isn’t always reliable :)

Ordered a wet chicken chow mein and when I got back I found out it was a dry one but before I left the store I asked if it was wet and they said yes Not a great experience at all

Ordered a takeaway (delivery) and was very disappointed. Chicken/duck chow mein was salty and duck fatty. Curry sauce was extremely salty. Duck spring roll was oily, soggy and hardly any duck of which was stringy. The crispy chow main was ok, not amazing. Most went in the bin. We shall not be ordering there again

We recently moved into Windrush place, Witney and was looking for a good Chinese. We had a menu come through and thought we would give the new Dragon House a try. We called up and the person who took the order was very friendly and quick. The food arrived faster than what we were told on the phone which was great. I had the beef and green peppers and black bean sauce, my husband had the salt and pepper chicken, we shared the garlic rice and the kids had chicken chow mien and chips. The food was absolutely delicious and very hot. The portions are big too. We will be definitely ordering again!!

Had a meal from the New Dragon House tonight,everything just tasted of salt,ribs,chow mein etc just tasted of salt,rubbish,will not be using the New Dragon House again!

Dissapointed with our food last night ordered at 6.30 Barbercue chicken really dry, and overcooked, crispy duck fatty and possibly re- heated.

Visited last night. Lady behind counter was very unfriendly. Ordered ribs and crispy beef with fried rice. Ribs tasted ok, but sauce was very very salty. Crispy beef should be called chewy beef, fried rice was ok but not much flavour. Will not be returning.

Brilliant take away, owners are always welcoming portions are generous and a great variety. Must be the only place in Carterton that doesn't take cards! With the lack of ATM's now this can be an issue but the food and service is worth the inconvenience!

Ordered from here and was a bit dubious to start with as from ordering to delivery it only took 15 mins ! And it definitely showed in the food, it tasted like the day before reheated . Even the chips were old , not fresh . I don't mind waiting as long as it takes for delivery if the food is fresh! Its very hit and miss this place there's no consistency, disappointed on this occasion. The prices have also started creeping up aswell.

Best chinese you’ll find in carterton, great range of food, amazing customer service, nice workers the food was amazing and arrived in great time, the drivers are also very friendly aswell!

We had a wide selection of food, all of which was tasty, moreish and packed full of flavour. The chicken chow-mein had an abundance of meat, with the most delicious bite to the noodles. The sweet and sour chicken balls had a crisp outer shell and moist center. Recommend!!!

Unfortunately our usual Chinese was closed on a Tuesday evening, so have this place a go. The food was disgusting and I ended up throwing in the bin! House special curry was served in a small carton with hardly any meat but plenty of mushrooms, and was really thick and gloopy with no flavour other than salt. In terms of cost the food was roughly 40% more expensive than others in the area which is fine if your getting substantially better quality which isn’t the case here!

Food was lovely tonight , big portions ! Still a pain that they don't have card payment 😕. Also just something I observed in the kitchen , quite picky but with covid still present hygiene should be top of list. A lady in the kitchen was blowing her nose and had gloves on which is great but after blowing her nose she should of changed her gloves not kept the same ones on !!

Ace food, we ordered quite a lot at lunch time on a week day so it wasn't busy but it was all really good. The prawns had flavour, the meat was tender, the frying oil obviously wasn't old (a pit fall a lot of places fall into), the sauces weren't slimy, the containers were full and everything had a great ratio of ingredients. Will deffo go again if they're still around when I'm back in town.

Foods good but they really need to start taking card payments and not be cash only.

Ordered tonight for delivery, rang up after an hour and a half to be told they were short on drivers.Two hours after ordering the meal arrived. All of the food that had been crispy was now soggy and cold. The sweet and sour sauce had gone cold and the prawn toast was like cardboard. Not a great experience.

Absolutely vile food. Burnt, dry, congealed noodles. Under cooked almost raw chicken balls, completely unedible and had to be binned. Avoid this place.

Very good food never had any problems. Especially love the spicy chicken wings. Delivery is usually quick.

Friends had recommended the takeaway, which we had delivered to our home. What a disappointment. First, one of the items was missing. Then the special fried rice was the strangest I’ve ever seen! The other items in the order ranged from horrid to fairly nice. We will not use this place again. The only positive was that having been warned we would have to ring several times before getting an answer, they answered immediately.

Not too bad for a takeaway restaurant. Large portions and freshly cooked food. No chopsticks and napkins were provided, though, only a lonely plastic fork.

Ordered a meal for 1 and a starter for myself and my wife and it didn't disappoint. Cooked fresh and everything tasted amazing, we ordered the crispy lamb with rice and chicken satay on skewers perfect for us both.

Not sure whats happened absolutely awful! There was no flavour in anything , rice noodles was dry and horrible no spice. Crispy chilli beef was rock hard inedible and no flavour , jalapenos in the sauce do not go where are the chillis?? Chicken balls...

This is the first time we have had food from here, and it was delicious. Everything was perfect, the crispy spring rolls were a little over peppered but was easy to get over that. The only thing that caused concern, was in our dish of chicken wings there was what I believe to be a piece of breaded fish at the bottom, most likely from another dish. And being someone who has a grandparent who has a severe fish allergy it was a bit concerning. Obviously at the this moment in time we would not be sharing food with others. But if in different circumstances it would have been very dangerous.

Had a delivery today and the food was terrible. We were very disappointed. We tried the takeaway on recommendation and we won’t be trying one from there again! Very greasy food, quantity over quality unfortunately and pricey. We’ll stick to our local in future.
