We chose to sit outside in the calming cheddar rain just underneath some shelter outside of the cheese cottage. To the waiters shock that we were sitting in the rain excited to taste the toasty , we were offered a table inside with our dogs but insisted on staying outside for the full cheddar gorge toasty experience. 😀

Food was nice, waiter was rude and acted like it was an inconvenience when just reminding him we ordered a coffee also. I noticed there have been a few other reviews saying about the rudeness aswell, so obviously not the first time.

Independently owned and family operated treasure in Cheddar Gorge, very close to Jacob's Ladder. Lovely fresh bread and great quality cheeses. Stop by, treat yourselves and support locally owned independent family businesses (so important).

We loved The Cheese Cottage! Run by Coral (who bakes the most amazing scones!) and her family, it’s the perfect tea room. We so enjoyed our ‘elevenses’ that we skipped lunch anywhere else and returned for the most scrumptious high tea. All beautifully presented on classic blue and white china, and at prices that are more than fair! Thank you Cheese Cottage, we’ll be back!

After a walk up and down Jacob's Ladder we came here for a delicious lunch. It was £12 for a sandwich, scone, crops and a hot drink which was exactly what I was looking for. The sandwich had cheddar in it and the scone was fresh and still warm so I was very happy. The staff were also friendly and we had a nice seat by the window which suited our two young kids perfectly. I would recommend this as a reward after a walk around the gorge.

Extremely rude staff. Parked in staff space by accident. A woman came over really passive aggressive told me ‘some of us have businesses to run’ got back in my car went somewhere else. Little tip, if you’re so worried about your business running, you might want to pay attention to how you speak to your customers instead of parking. Don’t go here.

Came here today for a cream tea and the place was lovely. However, the younger lad (I can only assume was the older couples son) was very rude, not only to me, but to other customers as well. One customer came back up and asked for some milk because he received his coffee black, and the young man replied back ‘yeah but you asked for it black’. No need for that sarcastic comment. He was rude when I accidentally came though the one way, even when I was apologetic. Then basically threw the menu on our table along with a pen, then stormed off huffing. Very weird. Mustn’t want to be part of the family business

So many eateries in Cheddar but I finally opted for this delightful little café in its lovely setting behind a fast flowing stream. It was a good choice. It really does have the feel of a cosy cottage inside, with rustic wooden furniture. The lady who served me was so friendly and welcoming. Menu choices limited because of covid restrictions but there was still a tempting selection of sandwiches, toasties, ploughman's lunch and cakes. Ordered a Cheddar cheese, salad and chutney sandwich and a pot of tea. Service was quick and the tea came with a traditional china tea set. The sandwich was generously filled and very satisfying. There's also a little shop selling local cider and ale, fudge, honey, preserves, cheeses and some nice original gifts. Would certainly recommend this café for an enjoyable lunch!

This lovely little tearoom is clearly a 'labour of love' for the family who run it. So much thought and hard work has gone into creating a light, quirky and beautiful space. Add to that the range of quality local food on the menu and in the shop together with the location right in the heart of Cheddar Gorge and you have a cafe that all visitors should make a beeline for. Come away with a bag of fudge for later too - it is absolutely delicious!

We popped in to buy some cheese and a bottle of beer. We decided to stay for lunch. Jake served us. He was very rude sarcastic unhelpful and "forgot" to order my partners sandwich. We ended up leaving. Jake needs some extra customer service training or maybe just let him clear the tables for now. If I could give you a zero star I would. Horrible experience.
