Reading the previous comments they must have been to a different place to me. The food what there was was terrible. We dined on two occasions in a evening about 6.45 pm and the majority of the items were not available . What was served was absolutely nothing like any of the pictures on this website.where you say English food the only thing was fish and chips which they only had one portion. The real reason people did not have sweets they were unavailable.

We ate here as part of a dinner bed and breakfast deal, which combined did offer very good value for money. The restaurant is really lacking in atmosphere, and the food is ok but not great. The food portions were small, and one of our mains was very, very heavily seasoned with herbs while the other was especially bland. However that said, if you are staying here on DBB then this is a nice easy choice that gives you nothing to worry about except maybe needing a snack later on..

It's very much a burger or fish and chips menu. If the quantity of food was decreased and quality increased it would be a whole lot better. My 'Appetiser' of onion rings contained about ten large deep fried rings. That came before the starter. By the time the stodgy deep fried fish and chips arrived, I was just about finished. Even when I asked if I could just have the raspberries from the mouse with raspberries, I received about half a pound of raspberries in a bowl. A rather sour service didn't really help. Breakfast is better but the deep fried scourge continued with disgusting cheap vegebangers.

I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and ate here both nights. Despite having a large coach party to serve i was given plenty of yime with yhe restaurany waitresses. They were really friendly and helpful and made my meal more pleasant. The food on both days was good main and dessert on day one and starter and ma8n 9n the second. Pork with balsamic and mash was deliah and the homemade ice cream woth the waffles was yummy. Day 2 was a chicken fest with satay chicken to start. Had the most amazingly fresh side salad to accompany the succulent skewers. Then followed by a stuffed chicken breast with roast spuds and a creamy white wine and garlic sauce. So good you cab have sevonds...yea please yum yum! It was incredibly tasty and all cooked and served within 40 mins despite the large party being served at the same time. I couldn't manage dessert but that is how filling the two courses were. The staff were brilliant on both nights and i have no hesitation booking in again. If you want 100s of dishes to chose from then this menu os not for you but im fussy and i could jave found something to eat for at least 3 nights. Thank you i really enjoyed my food and would not hesitate to recommend on my experience this week.

had lovely room, large shower, air/con ,small TV,comfy bed, large towels, slept well.reception staff were faultless. pity I can't say the same for the restaurant. The service the worst I've ever had. hot plates came followed by veg then eventually the meat by which time the plates were cold.the food appeared to be all frozen and not in line with a 3 star hotel. leek soup was morphed into onion next day, rissotto over cooked looked like rice pudding, cutlet thin and hard, fish bland, fruit salad every day.beautiful hotel but they need a new Chef and quicker waitresses.

I visit Worthing on business frequently and I had heard mixed reviews from the Chatsworth. On an occasion recently I had not option but to stay at the Chatsworth and I was pleasantly surprised at just how good the hotel is.The rooms are spacious, quiet with all the amenities needed for a couple of nights away from home. Situated near all the shops, bars and eateries, and close to the sea front means that the Chatsworth is difficult to fault.

Maybe I'm being unfair marking the hotel as average, but until all the renovation is completed it would be misleading to go higher. We were at the rear of the hotel (great for no road noise), but the room felt like not much has been done to it since the 60s. It was clean and neat, but getting tired. The walls are paper-thin so you can hear next door chatting away, or it could have been the TV, but still, it was annoying. The public rooms have been renovated and decorated and are pretty good and the dining room is smart and stylish. I agree with other reviewers that the staff are all very well-trained and are happy, helpful and professional. The breakfast was OK, though a greater choice of buffet food might be a good idea. Once the renovation is finished, I'm sure that my next visit will warrant a few more stars!

Abysmal customer service. On the night in question my 'rather expensive' tights were torn to shreds by Velcro under the dining chairs. I had to remove them and spend the evening with bare legs ! Hardly comfortable. I complained on the evening and returned no less than 4 more times to speak with a manager. Never once received either apology or redress. Nothing!! It was a large party booking which because of this poor customer service will not be repeated.

I checked in here after leaving the torture of the travelodge earlier in the evening. There is no comparison. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with the wonderful scent of fresh lillies. My room situated on the third floor whilst a little small was wonderful. I had a great view of the park opposite and the bed was very comfortable. The greatest thing about the chatsworth though is its dining. Great food and reasonably priced. My English breakfast was also cooked to order rather than those buffet breakfasts that you get these days. I stay in lots of hotels across the South and I can honestly say, this is my favourite. 10 stars!

If you're planning a restful stay, ask for a quiet room at the back of hotel. Hotel is on main road to beach and there is no double glazing so we were kept awake all night by traffic noise directly outside. Also people leaving hotel for a smoke - noise and smell. Very overpriced for basic hotel. Only good thing was pleasant staff.

My daughter booked this hotel for us so I had no idea what it would be like but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was very nice. It was an old fashioned hotel with a warm welcome and check in was quick and easy.I have mobility problems so my daughter booked me a room with a walk in shower, as there was a lift to all floors being on the third floor was no problem. The room was very nice, clean with nice white bedding and towels. The bed was comfy, the room spacious with an easy chair and 3 electric sockets so no problems charging phones or iPads. The bathroom was compact but clean with hot water and complimentary shower gel and shampoo. The only thing that I wasn't too happy with is that the temperature was set way to high and it was really hot in the room! Breakfast was good with all the usual options, the staff friendly and attentive, the food hot and well cooked.Check out was quick and easy.We will definitely use this hotel when we visit Worthing again.

Not an extensive lunch menu, but the food and service are very good. The food is cooked properly, the waiters are attentive without being over-bearing and the tables are far enough apart for private conversations. Held our work Christmas party here in December 2013 (the dates on Trip Advisor don't go back that far). Safe to say we wouldn't go back - ever. At a cost of £19 per person we were given a buffet consisting of curled up dried sandwiches, some hot finger food which wasn't actually hot, meat that looked as though it had been left exposed to the air for some time... The service was poor and appeared begrudging. The entertainment turned out to be a two piece, who when asked to play some Christmas songs said that they were an Indy band and didn't play Christmas music! Rather killed the festive spirit, such as it was. Afterwards I complained to the Manager of the hotel, but was told that the food was prepared freshly every day and it couldn't have been as I described, and the musical entertainment was 'as billed', so my complaint was unjustified. So much for customer service... I urge you not to waste your money on any event you were planning to hold here.

We stayed here on night on the Easter weekend. Very good offer for Easter! We were warmly welcomed and check-in was very smooth. The food in the restaurant was really good (we had both dinner and breakfast). However, during the dinner we waited for 10 minutes to even get a menu and then we had to ask for it! Otherwise the selection of dishes and quality was excellent. For the breakfast we unfortunately picked a wrong time as we had to wait for about 10 minutes to get in. But then the breakfast was served quickly with a reasonable selection of continental breakfast.Overall, pretty pleasant stay.

I stayed at Chatsworth hotel in February 2015 and became aware of the rich history of this hotel, which seems to be quite old. Though the hotel is quite old and has rich cultural history, it appears to be quite well maintained and neat and clean. The staff at the reception and in the dinning room are very friendly. The rooms are spacious and cozy. I was in the garden facing room and my colleagues were in the sea facing rooms and both were very good. The breakfast was excellent and the staff attentive to guests requirements. The hotel seems to be under renovation and there was smell of paint on the third floor where i was staying. I went to the dining room and looked at the "Table d’hôte menu" £18.95 for 3 courses, £12.95 for a main and £3.95 each for a starter and a dessert. I ordered the smoked salmon and the egg mayonnaise starter. It came and was OK. A bit Bernie Inns of the 1970's for those that remember that far back; and the gammon and egg for a main. I love Gammon and egg. A thick piece of gammon, with unctuous eggs oozing over it as you broke the yolks to eat with the slice of gammon, beautiful. What appeared was a sliver of gammon that you could read a newspaper through. It looked more like a piece of Serrano ham with two hard eggs, so no unctuous yolk then.I refused to accept this repast and the waiting on staff were not surprised... The senior waitress removed my plate and went back into the kitchen and informed the chef that I was not happy.I went to the reception and spoke to the manager there and told him what my opinion was and that I wasn't paying for the meal. They did not seem surprised. Why? How often does this happen?I had looked at the other opportunities nearby to eat earlier and thought that I would support the hotel. My advice is don't be disappointed, go elsewhere.Don't blame the staff, they are only delivering what they can. In my experience, they delivered the best that they could.

I was one of Maire's friends at the 'afternoon tea' at the Chatsworth - see review of 14 June 2013. I have only recently been in touch with her and subsequently seen her review and I wholeheartedly agree with everything Maire has said. This was a very special occasion for my friend and we were honoured to be asked to what we thought was going to be a lovely celebration afternoon. But no - if this is the way the Chatsworth management treat their customers then they deserve to be closed down. They may think they can get away with 'slapping out' food (and I mean that literally) as described, to coporate clients who couldn't care a less what they get, but the whole attitude of the hotel was not only upsetting to Maire, but insulting and totally disrespectful and no doubt to other individuals. I felt so embarrassed for her. Residents and visitors to Worthing, boycott the place.

I pre-ordered afternoon tea here - if you are thinking that you might do the same DON'T! Tea was 'served' (or not as the case may be!) in the lounge area which is shabby and depressing like a run down old folks home or an old time funeral parlour - very depressing. The tea was put into vacuum flasks and left on the side of the bar area for us to help ourselves. There was no waiter/waitress service - again sandwiches and slices of cake were placed on the side of the bar. If you are thinking of cake stands, nice china and tea pots, delicate sandwiches and dainty cakes FORGET IT! My friends and I had to huddle round an occasional table seated on large, ungainly, uncomfortable armchairs. When I complained via letter about all of this I was told I should have complained before leaving the hotel but I naturally didn't want to embarrass my friends by creating a scene. I wrote to the manager and received a totally unsatisfactory response. This tea party was to celebrate my 60th birthday which had happened a few weeks before and which I had been unable to celebrate with my friends on the day. A ghastly disappointment and waste of seventy pounds.

I have visited this cafe twice now with my father in law who is in a wheelchair and frail. Both times the staff have been so welcoming, not minding me doing furniture moving to get dad into a spot where he will be happy. They have also been very understanding about my requests for the way dads drinks are made. We haven't eaten there yet, but the food looks lovely and everyone I have seen has cleared their plates. They also have a children's play area for younger children. I would recommend this cafe to everyone.

Lovely spot especially if you can get an outside table. Shame the windows have the bars across but can still see the sea and beach. Food and drink is of the cheap and cheerful price point. We had cheese burger and chips, the burger was a very good size and tasty. They have cakes, cookies and other snacks, all far cheaper than other venues locally. The staff are lovely, so polite, chatty, and efficient. It makes a change to have such good service these days. We have been back a few times recently because we enjoyed the food and service. It's not for everyone, but the prices more than reflect that. My only negative would be the opening hours don't necessarily match that advertised online.
