If you want to enjoy fine dining without the faff then Chart Farm Kitchen is the place. Located at Chart Farm, Dom and the guys are putting together, clever, well conceived and challenging menu. Cooked mainly using traditional charcoal and smoking technique, you are in a for a treat. A seven course menu at a fixed price (April 22 £75/pp) that will challenge your palate and your imagination, The menu changes every month so you never get tired of the same old thing. You are seated at the same time as other diners and served at the same time, so please be ready to be seated no later than 7:30pm on Friday evening. Don't expect the posh linen and the fine silver, this is not what you are coming to Chart Farm Kitchen. You are coming to try something different, enticing and will make you beg for more. The wine list is carefully chosen to match the meal to perfection. If you are a steak lover than I recommend wholeheartedly Steak Night on the Wednesday. Being located at a farm you will not disappointed with the quality of the meat, the fries and the lovely seasonal vegetables. Really I should not give this glowing review for fear that it might take me ages to book a table again, but really this place should go for a Michelin rating. Parking is ample on site. Book early to avoid disappointment the waiting list is long.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. I took my husband here for part of his 50th birthday celebrations. Food was fantastic. We chose the 8 course tasting menu and their Old Bank Billionaires champagne was really nice and very affordable at £70! The snacks at the beginning are amazing!! Each course was great. The only one that was a let down was my husbands 2nd dessert. You can choose between a soufflé and a crème caramel. The texture of the crème caramel was not as expected and had not a nice texture or taste. I tried it too and didn’t like it. But out of how many courses we had, it’s good it was just 1 that was disliked. We weren’t rushed at all, our table was at 6.45 and we left at 10.15pm absolutely stuffed! Between some courses there seemed to be quite a long wait and then suddenly our 2nd dessert arrived and the waitress had to nod to somebody to remove our 1st dessert plates so that was a bit quick for our liking so could be timed a bit better I guess. The staff were all fantastic. Luciano chats to you like you’re old friends and he’s great to chat with and so funny. The young blonde girl was brilliant and so polite and friendly. We loved the way she very clearly explained every dish, that makes a big difference and was really appreciated. One downfall of this place was the loos. One toilet was in a bit of a mess and the loo I used didn’t flush! They really could do with being upgraded seeing this is a Michelin starred restaurant. There are no hooks or shelves in the loo so you have to decide where to put your bag! On the floor? On the toilet cistern? Please put a hook on the door as I’m sure I can’t be the only lady who doesn’t really want to place a nice evening bag on a toilet floor. That’s the reason for the missing star so 4 stars. I would definitely recommend The Old Bank.

Busy restaurant within garden centre. Proper good quality food, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. I arrived without a booking (essential to book) and the lovely waitress made me welcome and managed to squeeze me in during a very busy service. A hidden gem.
