You will have to try hard to find a worse fish and chip shop chips were brown dry and bland looked like yesterday’s just left under the heaters save your money go elsewhere

Really rude staff. The lady on the phone was super annoyed that the kitchen were still cooking at half nine when they close at 10. Rude and sarcastic staff that clearly do not want to be there they want to be at home. Probably time to recruit...

Lady in there decided she didnt want to serve me even though i was the only one there waiting to be served. Took her boss telling her to serve me for her to actually do it. Super rude - chips werent worth it either, would give 0 but will give 1 benefit of the doubt

The best fish and chip shop in Maidstone. We have used this for such a long time. We have recently found out it was Halal also, which wish we knew sooner as my partner and daughter have only ever had the fish when we have come in. Now we know means will be able to have more choice of what to have.

Very busy Friday at 1800 but was expecting it to be.. good food as always.

Can not fault this place what so ever been going to this chip shop since I was a young boy food has all ways been good always fresh and tasty the staff are always there to help and are always welcoming kayleigh the 2 newish girls shane and lewis and the cook always helpful and organised food is always correct ,by far the best chippy în maidstone won't go no were else !!! So for any other silly comments on google reviews I wouldn't listen to them because there probably stuck up there own a***

Staff are so unorganised, lots of confusion over printed orders, staff member repeated what I had asked for when it was ready and when I got home it was wrong, it even said on the box what should be in the kebab and it was correct but I didn't order that kebab, useless, organise your staff better

Honestly the batter was so crispy, the fish was really fresh we also brough battered mushroom and it everything was amazing. You can see and feel the cleanliness. Highly recommended!!!

Rung to order on the phone,so I dont have to wait when I get there, just collect. The man on phone said come and order here, I dont understand you. He hang up and did not answer my next call . So rude.

Fantastic fish shop always have a large cod cooked fresh with a salad £11 great value and so filling thank you lads .

Haven't been in since they moved from Parkwood Parade but today I gave my son some money to pop over there. I was absolutely horrified when he didn't bring any change home. I checked the prices and they are truely ridiculous and as the food was also well below average I shall not be returning.

Brought cod chips fortnight go the fish was so dry had to put in dustbin orderd new cod chips yesterday and there was hardly any fish in batter cost £21 will not use no more poor quality

Visited here last night. When i got home I had brown dry chips that were disgusting. No sauce or salt and vinegar like I asked. The burger had no salad at all. No sauce and was a mess the donner meat I ordered was cold and full of gristle. I returned it. The staff did say sorry and were polite. The manager on the other hand. Came to the front. Told the staff to make sure they check it. Did not say 1 word to me at all. No apology No money off etc. Then went out back again whilst the staff made me some new food. Still was not happy as by the time I got home for the second time. The chips again were horrible. Most of them inedible I ate about 5 of them then they went in the bin. The chips taste old and stale. The sausages are always cold. The burgers are OK but very expensive. Like everything is here! The managers publicly talk to the staff like rubbish when there not hiding in the back doing nothing. And obviously when there is a problem they do not even have customer service skills to deal with it! Would not recommend ***EDIT... I just went to the chip shop to get some lunch for my friend as she wanted chips. I asked for the chips and the manager came over and said I need to get out and I am not welcome there! I said "so just because I have voiced my opinion online I am now banned from the shop" he said yes now leave! Wow so it seems that unless you agree with everything the manager says and completely love his food then you are banned! Is it not the whole point of reviews that you can give your experience! Also not to mention that this is AGAINST THE LAW for him to do this ! You cannot bann someone for leaving feedback.

I travel past quite a few chippys and always get my food from here. Never been disappointed. They do a lovely Donner. Nice fresh Salad and nicely browned meat without all the grease. Everything we have tried from here has been nice.

Good selection of fish, burgers & kebab, all cooked well. If you like burgers, try the half pounder. Good quality burgers and fresh salad. I use Charlies fair regularly as I work in the area and I've never been disappointed.

Unfortunately very disappointing. The costs for a cod & chips are very high here so you’d expect top quality. I don’t mind paying more if it’s excellent. It wasn’t. The fish was very small and the chips were very dry. They seem to have a thicker skin on them which just doesn’t work for a British fish & chips. To add to this the person who served me insisted on repeatedly calling me “darling” which in modern times really grates. With such a competitive market for takeaway these days you’d have thought quality and value would be higher.

Food is always fresh, and is a great value for money on regards to the portion sizes.

Lovely fish and chips but very cold in there in winter while waiting for your food

I like the fish and chips but I ordered a donor kebab and a chicken shish. When I got home I found the donor to be dry and crispy, burnt. The chicken tasted like it had been sprinkled with gravy granules. Couldn't eat any of it. I took it back and the owner refused my claim, wouldn't give me a refund or credit and said he would rather lose my custom.

The food is always freshly cooked and delicious. Products are of the highest quality and the staff at Charlies are courteous, helpful and friendly.

Great food, big portions, lovely clean and bright looking place. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that whenever I've been in there, service has been really slow but I guess if you want freshly cooked food, you're going to have to wait.

First time here.....Although the place was clean and tidy (being newly built) the chips were hard and average, and the woman that served us had no customer service skills at all. Not even a smile! The guys behind the fryers spent longer looking up and down the customers and gossiping about them, then they did cooking anything! Not a great first impression and we won't be back!
