Very nice pub and friendly service

Have been here twice in the last few weeks and me and my family have had great meals and a lovely time. Staff are very good and food has been lovely. Will be visiting here a lot more. Thanks guys

Update on review - no response to this review - no remedial action taken - manager should be concerned but clearly not. Will take up with your head office! TERRIBLE!!! I used to love visiting The Bull, especially sitting in the garden, enjoying the beautiful scenery. However, my recent experiences have been very disappointing. A month ago, I took my parents, who had travelled up to visit, for lunch. The food was okay, but the atmosphere was ruined by a group of loud workmen, led by one particularly obnoxious individual. His voice was painfully loud, like a megaphone, and completely ruined our afternoon. At the time, I assumed it was just bad luck. This past weekend, a friend came to visit, so I suggested a river walk with a stop at The Bull. Unfortunately, the same unpleasant person was there again, this time with even more of his loud-mouthed crew. While we were at the bar, they were making blatant homophobic comments, which was absolutely unacceptable. Their behavior was appalling, and once again, it completely destroyed the pub's atmosphere. It got to the point where I had to leave my drink behind because I could no longer bear the loud voice giving me a headache. Aside from them, the pub was nearly empty, and I can see why. Unless something is done about this group—especially banning this obnoxious individual—I'm afraid you'll continue losing customers. It's a shame, because The Bull used to be a lovely place.

Just been for a lunch today with my friend.The place has a lovely big car park and the man at the bar was very friendly and he showed us to the table.We hadn’t booked but there were lots to choose from.Ordered drinks and food order taken.Lovely Home cooked ham,2 Fried eggs and a small bowl of chunky chips and a small bowl of mustard,so delicious.My friend had the sausages,mash butter vegetables and onion gravy ,both very delicious.Ordered 2 Biscroff cheesecake with banana icecream which was so delicious and a latte.The atmosphere was lovely and everything clean.all the staff were friendly and polite.Lovely menus.We will definitely be back again.

The food was absolutely delicious, and filled me up like a balloon. The service was a bit off with them getting one of our orders wrong and one of our drinks but the atmosphere was good and overall was a great experience.

Worst pub ive eaten at in 2024. Had dinner here this evening. Spent £80+ on 3 mains, 2 starters and drinks. Food was absolutely disgusting. Burgers were dry as assholes and laryped in slimey sauce. The cold brioche buns werent just soggy they were actually dripping wet. The lasagna was the saddest thing ive ever seen, i actually felt sorry for it, looked like it was cooked in the 90s and nuked back to life against its will. Drier than the Sahara, 80% meat, 10% cheese 10% pasta which was crunchy and had curled up the sides. It needed to be binned but somehow made it onto the plate and got served. Honestly rank. No one checked on how we were doing during our meal otherwise we would have sent it all back. Barely ate half of it. Toilets were grubby and floors were filthy. The place generally could do with a really good clean, everything's covered in a layer of grease and dust. They did ok with their Mexican sharing platter (chips, salsa, melty cheese and sour cream) but never again. Left hungry and got a kebab on the way home for dinner.

Visited friends and they booked a table at this establishment. Had the pie, nice and tasty, good size, together with a good size portion of mash and veg. Other people all had good sized portions. The two staff members that dealt with us were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return when visiting our friends again.

The 'Check Back' was perfect... Unfortunately, it was for the replacement adults meal... "Is everything alright with your meal, sir? Can I get you anything, apple sauce?" When I said, "Everythings fine." I was actually saying I was now eating alone as my food was returned because you served it with cold gravy. I wanted to say the potatoes tasted as if they were cooked last week and had been kept warm since... (The skill of making roast potatoes with hard centres without a crispy skin is applaudable...) The leeks were gritty and far too chewy... Though the 'replacement' meal was flooded with 'hot' gravy, it didn't hide the carrot and parsnip I had bitten when they were first served. Finally, I was passing with my daughter to stay in Kent for the night and decided to pick you over a Chef & Brewer... The fact you served my meal cold and then left me to eat alone will never be good in anyone's book. BTW, the child's meal, though a good concept, it definitely was not worth £7.50. The Adults Roast Pork at £16.95, could have been worth it if it had been cooked properly and initially served hot. The overall service was not good... I was only offered apple sauce on the returned meal with no 'Check Back' on the initial meal or my daughters meal...

Fantastic pub. Food was great, beer even better what a great all round boozer.

Nice pub. Sat outside as it was a warm sunny day. My friend's steak looked nicely cooked and he thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I chose the lasagne which was very dry and lacked the zippy, tangy flavour lasagne is famed for.

Chloé made all the arrangements for my mum's wake a few weeks ago. She was very friendly, helpful and efficient. Chloé's colleague Izzy made sure that we were well looked after on the day with plenty of food as well as friendly and efficient service. Thank you ladies!

We stopped here whilst passing through and ordered a sharing platter with side salad. There was a good selection of ales and the food was very high quality. We will be back if we pass through again!

Lovely pub never been there before but had a good meal at a good price

I have been here for food at lunchtime on several occassions before todays visit. I must say that each time it has been an enjoyable experience and a pleasure to return again. The atmosphere, decor, cleanliness and food are all excellent. The staff are friendly, efficient and quick to respond without hovering around while eating. There is a modern menu with classic dishes, vegan choices and a good selection from main meals to sharing platters. Reasonable prices given the high quality of the food. Outdoor seating area in the garden which overlooks the fields towards St Margarets church and West Farleigh. Free car park with hard surface but on a slight slope in parts. Wheel chair access into the pub. Dog friendly both inside the bar area and the garden. Recommend this place.

Pub and restaurant with garden area. The inside was nice and cool on a hot day and the seating looked comfortable. Outside is a garden with a covered area which is where I sat. The grass in the garden was overdue for a cut and looked a little ropey. I ordered some nachos which came out to me very quickly. It looked a little plonked on the plate but was a fair sized position and the taste was ok,if anything a little more cheese would have been nice. There is a good selection of drinks and I liked that my Old Mout berries and cherries even came with some berries in the glass and lots of ice which was very refreshing. The staff I came across all had a pleasant manner. I used the toilets and they were clean. The pub has a decent sized car park and there is no charge for parking.. I've driven past at the weekends and noticed the pub is often packed so it's clearly doing some good things

Haven't eaten there, but their is such a lovely atmosphere, it just feels friendly and relaxed. Can take dogs in, which is great. Nicely decorated, clean facilities. Lots of parking.

We went here as there wasn't any places in Maidstone for a table all fully booked. The Bull had a very nice table for us, very welcoming, very friendly and we had freshly cooked fish (Haddock) and chips and garden peas. Delicious. There were plenty of other options on the menu to choose from. Will definitely go again.

Wow! Where do I begin… popped in looking for a Sunday roast dinner and ooh boy I wasn’t ready for what arrived! The portion was huge and definitely filled me up after trekking through the hills and orchards. It tasted divine I couldn’t believe it. I’ll be bringing all my friends and family. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Returned to the Bull after a break as not previously impressed with former owners but I am very impressed with new manager, excellent place to eat and enjoy the atmosphere... definitely going back!!

Food was ok. Chicken roast was nice, nothing special. 14.95 my partner had the lasagne, was very very dry, no sauce at all. The waiter was kind enough to offer us free desert which was kind, my Eaton mess was very nice but unfortunately my partner was left disappointed again when her chocolate brownie and ice cream came out with the ice cream already half melted, the bowl was very warm, assuming the brownie was warmed up in the micro. Was inedible for her... we was offered a replacement but shed had enough. Upon paying the bill at the bar I was made to feel as though I was trying to pull a fast one with the bill as I was not prepared to pay for the food we did not eat as previously discussed with the manager. However the bearded man behind the bar thought he knew more than I did about the food that he never even saw. Not the relaxed meal I had hoped for. Seemed a shame as I had heard good things. Maybe just bad luck who knows.

Although I've given 5 stars because of the friendly staff and nice restaurants. I must say that my dinner, I had the chicken curry that was lacking any body in the sauce and seems to be mainly vegetables. My other diners had a lovely dinner.

Edge of town pub with good beers and service. Food is old fashioned pub grub, could do with some creativity. Huge garden for kids and dogs. Plenty of parking.

Always enjoy our evenings at the Bull. Lovely pub, with a nice garden area which keeps the sun until sunset. Staff are all super friendly, helpful and efficient. Food is always great - the steak pie is definitely my favourite! Reasonably priced too. However, absolutely gutted to see they no longer do the biscoff cheesecake!! This was always to die for!

This place is epic. Friendliest staff ever. The landlord is a huge character, which just adds to the great atmosphere. Great beers, cracking food and really nice clientel. My favourite pub in Maidstone.

Met with friends for a drink. Lovely place.

Staff stood and watched me struggling to get through the door with my pram. A customer then came to help. First impressions count, this automatically put me off returning.

A real lost opportunity, the food is ok, not exceptional just ok. The service was just lackluster and the place was grubby

Nice pub .friendly staff and good food

Only been there during the day/early evening for food. It is a lovely pub with a good atmosphere inside. Food is amazing and reasonably priced. Friendly staff and will always try to accommodate. My only gripe is the door that leads into the restaurant is always kept open so the smokers smell from the beer garden gets inside so when you are eating it does not make for a very pleasant experience.

Lovely pub, staff very attentive. We both order the steak,ale,horseradish pie, with mash and veg my friend had chips. We were both very disappointed the pastry on the pie was rock hard, and the veg were too hard you could even eat it .

Good food, ordered at the bar. A little long in waiting but that wasn't too bad as the quality is good. Was there on a Saturday afternoon, nice large outside area. Reasonable prices.

Excellent food and value for money we had the Scampi and Hunters Chicken access to the areas a little awkward for disabled persons not insurmountable this refers to the location of the toilets so decide beforehand upper level for easy access or a walk if lower level or outside is selected loved it in the garden would go again

Beers are rather annoyingly always 'coming soon' so limited choice. Food is pretty good and a big garden.

Friendly and efficient service. Very tasty scampi and chips - freshly cooked and delivered promptly. Menu contained offerings to suit all tastes. Pleased to note that there were not many empty tables and the adult clientele was of all ages.

Really amazing - such tasty food, great portions, really fresh and such friendly and welcoming staff. We went twice after a baby class nearby for lunch - a large group of mum's and babies and they were so kind and accommodating. The food was absolutely outstanding, can't wait to return, such a great experience both times.

After a coffee morning at the Muggleton in Maidstone my father, his partner and I headed to the Bull at Barming for a spot of lunch and a beverage. Currently from Monday to Thursday there is a half price offer on the food. My father had one of his favourites - scampi and chips. His partner - small steak and chips and I sampled the fish and chips. Delicious is an understatement ! - we all agreed and these three meals came to under £19. Washed down with a pint of Proper Job, combined with the pleasant atmosphere this all made for a great experience and we're sure to return to sample other things from the menu.

Good service, and reasonably good food. Had a very tasty steak pie, lots of tender meat but the pastry was hard, possibly overworked and overcooked. Otherwise, very good and would go back.

Decided to stop here for lunch, l'm not a fussy eater and eat most things, i ordered hunters chicken, but unfortunately I couldn't eat the chicken, it was very dry and rubbery, and my husbands pie crust was very hard, but the meat inside was nice. I can only assume ume spent too long in the microwave

Friendly staff with fairly good service and good value for money. We had pre-booked from the Christmas menu. Food was a bit bland. Cheese board was great but confused by the toast and not crackers.

Recommended to come here as family visiting from Barbados. 5 of the meals were cold. 2 hours before deserts arrived. Very disappointing and not attentive service. Wont be back in a hurry.

We have popped into the Bull a few times for dinner and always been pleased so we booked to have their festive menu on Saturday absolutely delicious the food was wonderful and good size portions. We weren't rushed, the staff were very friendly and welcoming we will definitely be back. I highly recommend the Bull thank you 😊
