Great unusual food (Sunday Slow Roast) great quirky place to eat, staff brilliant.

Really nice and enjoyable experience in this bar and restaurant, first rate and friendly staff and the food was good, and with live entertainment everynight downstairs in the cellar bar, makes a really nice venue for night out or afternoon and early evening, the theatre theme and charlie chaplin memorabilia everywhere was super cool and just adds to the nice feeling you get when your in the place, we will certainly go back next time we are down there.

Some GREAT pub food and GOOD beer.

Great place but expensive beer.

Great atmosphere as always! Not too big a queue at the bar. We enjoyed the post-band disco, and spent time in the wonderfully quirky garden.

It's a nice place. Live music. Felt a bit old haha its more of a young hipster type place it seems but it's a good space and beer options were reasonable and decent.

Excellent place, great atmosphere, fantastic food and exceptional service! It's one of the few restaurants where you are more than happy to have a predrink in the same place!

My favorite in Bournemouth mostly because of unforgettable design and atmosphere. The only thing I dislike is plastic glasses.

Best live music venue in bounemouth. The atmosphere is amazing. Its beautifully created, bohemian, sexy, artistic and humorously decorated. Everywhere you look its a delight. The colours are gorgeous, it's classy and sassy and creative. Its a special place, that houses excellent talent. Ive been blown away by the incredible artists that play there and such an amazing range of music. As well as it being a beautiful and special place that offers such varied entertainment, I feel completely at home in this venue and that's largely due to the excellent staff that run the ship, from doormen to bar staff and kitchen. All top notch service. As a female I feel completely safe as I know security are what it says on the tin. They're a great team, really astute, enabling customers to have a great time, free to let go and enjoy the music, yet looked out for, which is comforting. Theres a great range of drinks and beers and the food is delish!!! I like it that he owner takes pride in his place and spends time there, its like a surrogate family to many. When deciding where to live in this area there were two criteria..the sea and Chaplins. Its a Bournemouth treasure

Honestly, better than expected. We were in the area visiting mates, heard there was a band playing so decided to grab food before. Good, solid British classics. Decent portions, price wasn’t extortionate and staff were cracking jokes with us. Only downside, we could only pay cash and when I walked to the atm, a group of guys tried to take my money. Area certainly isn’t great.

Friday night 8/4/23 great evening until at 21.20hrs I got pulled out for I don’t know what to be honest?? But after waiting outside chaplins while the security investigated for 30 minutes I was eventually allowed back in, but when I asked the security they said we can’t say but a misunderstanding!!! My Girlfriend whose was sat inside was rather bemused, so hopefully Harry who is in charge can have a civilised chat with me about this?? as not a good look & rather embarrassing on all account’s!!! Otherwise I won’t be going back spending my money in chaplins in future!!!

Cool vibes, and lots of live music downstairs, although don't go to see the Priscilla's.

Good atmosphere and friendly people, also an interesting garden. Lots of real ales and ciders. The food is great.

Good drinks. Didn't have anything to eat. For the price, I would have like a glass, not a plastic cup.

Quirky little bar - limited seating indoors however, so be prepared to stand near the bar.

I live close to chaplains & go there now & again. The atmosphere is amazing & I love the live bands 😊

Great love music venue with decent ale selection

Took my wife out for an anniversary meal. We both had a fantastic meal with excellent and very friendly service. Well definitely going again.

My wife and I ate here last night. Fantastic atmosphere, roaring fire, interesting company and great food. The service was relaxed, attentive and excellent. We squeezed in for a quick dinner before a gig at the O2.

A little wacky with their bright colours and interesting art, but nothing could take our attention away from the meal. We had the lamb which was not only delicious but easily adaptable for gf and df. The staff were very friendly and accomadating. We couldn't have asked for better. Thank you.

Lamb "two ways" was the best lamb dish I have ever had!!! Hope it will stay on the menu.

Really disappointing on my way out to the smoking area, my drink got knocked out of my hand. That I just brought and they wouldn't give me a refill. Most places would do so, it's a bad streak of luck that happens to someone a couple of times in their life and it really sucks when you've just paid £5 for a drink when it does and to not give a refill is a horrible thing to do.

Nice food and drink really helpful staff. Would highly recommend

I was asked to leave , but don't know why , but I believe in the staff and all others on the pay roll , they have ALWAYS been there for me and 100% always helped me with my physical disabilities , and getting around the pub site , I would recommend this bar - pub to anyone and everyone , very friendly , I can't sing their praises enough , love them so much 0

Was sceptical about going to Chaplains, mainly because of its location, but have to say it was a little gem. Fantastic service, fantastic food, fantastic atmosphere. Absolutely packed, says it all. Will definitely be going back.

We were lucky enough to go to Boscombe for my school half-term (in October) and even more fortunate to stumble across Chaplin’s on our first evening there. It was so lovely that we went back twice again. Arthur looked after us each time and Erin (who was quite new, I think) was a wonderful waitress too. They were friendly, yet professional. The food was delicious and the decor is second to none. A definite must if you’re in the Boscombe Bournemouth neighbourhoods. We will definitely return…

Chaplins is the place to be in Boscombe, there is a fun quirky vibe, the staff are very friendly and extra helpful, live music is on every night, blasting out different tube vibes like you've never seen before. DEFO WORTH A VISIT "5 STARS"

I went in just for a drink. Where I sat near the bar there were so many bar flies it was horrible. The staff should be cleaning more. It's a shame because otherwise it would be a lovely place for a drink.

Unique pub, great selection of drinks. Can get very busy so be prepared to queue.

This is a great pub, it has such characters and decor, the outside seating area tiers up the back of the building and looks splendid, the service is great and the bar staff are engaging,friendly and efficient inside is welcoming and warm,I honestly was surprised what a good pub this is,well done Chaplins.we didn't eat here this time but I can't wait to visit again!

legendary spot, great local musicians. Charm and feels like genuine boozer.

Foods dead. Found a hair, 2 boys felt Ill after we ate. Pie and mash was dry, burger was dry ,fish smelt like death. Only redeeming factor was that they served alcohol so you could forget your time there.

Eaten here twice now and both times have been brilliant! Food is superb, service is fab and the atmosphere is vibrant! The detail in the decor is my favourite part. A lot of love and effort has gone in to this place and it definitely needs to be visited to be appreciated!

Food was mediocre, and the manager floated around the tables with the countenance of Basil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers. At least the beer was good. The decor was a bit over embellished.

Went for a one off night out and I’m definitely going back! The staff were so friendly and the environment was incredible especially as it isn’t my usual, I still felt included! Even drinking a lemonade was amazing quality and friendly staff One of the bartenders were so quick to clear up empty cups and refill!

Ok arrival deceiving on the outside walking through the doors wow amazing blew us away to decor atmosphere food all was top class I had the burger my husband the pie omg the chunks of beef wow he said the taste was amazing to the drinks and puddings I had apple berry crumble and the ice cream to die for and such a reasonable price and the man front of house was spot on he was the right person for the job he took it to another level would we go back oh definitely thank you. The Cellar Bar is very small, but it doesn't stop them putting on live music. It makes the music experience much more personal. There's sometimes a small charge at the door when there's music on, but often only after 10.00pm. There is always a good selection of beer, which changes on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis. Upstairs in Chaplin's, it's a fairly cosy town pub that serves excellent quality food and beer. 2023 update: Chaplins have opened the premises next door as a restaurant. I haven't eaten there as yet, but an award-winning, independent pub isn't likely to get it wrong.

took my step daughter here last night, for a meal in Modern Times. She is over from Grand Cayman, where food is a big thing. This surpassed everything we have eaten out there, when we visit. The staff were friendly. The food was fabulous , so tasty and great value. Good sized portions . Nice relaxed atmosphere. I always recommend this restaurant to all of my guests who visit my guest house. Never had a bad comment made. Quirky pub as well, award winning, shows off local musical talent as well as some bands and artists from further afield. Visit Boscombe Visit Chaplins and Modern Times.

Excellent meal, decent wine at sensible prices. A little gem of a restaurant in the middle of Boscombe. Well worth a visit.!!!!!

The only decent place to go for a beer in the center of town

Great quirky pub in Boscombe town centre, with really friendly staff. Outside, there is a beer garden, and the cellar is just as interesting, where they have bands and singer songwriters performing. A very relaxed atmosphere 😊

Great place for Drinks and food!

This place is a true hidden gem. We'd been past on the bus a thousand times but never been in, today we took the plunge and were so glad we did. If you like chain bars, this isn't the place for you, as it is individual, quirky and welcoming, with friendly and efficient service, great decor packed with Charlie Chaplin themed art and spectacular food. We visited on a Sunday and had the most beautiful roast dinner, freshly cooked, hot and delicious. For a couple of quid more we added a pudding each, which were generous and plate-lickingly good. However, the best part of our visit was the service and welcome from the staff, who couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay as much as they clearly enjoyed their work. Don't be fooled, Boscombe doesn't have the best reputation, and from the outside you might pass Chaplins by, but step over the threshold as we did and you'll not be disappointed.

This is one of my favourite places for a drink and the live music is good...I love the vibe. I highly recommend trying the boscombe brewery! Or any other Dorset local breweries there. After having your first pint , you feel really good and after the second one , you feel even better 😁😁😁🍻🍻🍻

I really like this place. The beer garden is really nice and they often have live music on downstairs. Beer selection is great too and the food is very good. I'd definitely recommend coming here for food and drink, probably during the day though rather than the evening.

Was going to recommend this place. We only found it yesterday. Sat in a beautiful beer garden went back that night had a great meal. Following night I got thrown out for being 'unsteady on my feet' I'm 58 and got stung on the bottom of my foot earlier. Good luck anyone who's disabled. Disgraceful ageism. Train your arrogant door staff

Had dinner here before going to a gig at the 02, then returned after. Ordered a burger and when served it was still 'pink' in the middle. Staff blame this on the place be so busy before the concert!? They then served a new burger. Its a great bar and will return.

Sadly didn't clock that they don't serve food on a Monday (says it very clearly on Google) but stayed for a drink and glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, could have chilled there for hours.

Another gem in the Bournemouth conurbation, you won't be disappointed. Bigger and brighter after the now fast receding memories of the pandemic. Some novel beverages on tap and a new restaurant area to enjoy.

Love this place , quirky with a good atmosphere , friendly bar staff , quick service, good price for a pint. Its popular so hard to get a table outside when it's warm if that's what your looking for but not something I'm bothered about. Like I said it gets busy but has a good crowd which is where I'm at .

Possible my most favourite place in Bournemouth/Boscombe to drink, eat, and listen to music. Eclectic decor inside and outside, and in the cellar. Great range craft and cask ales, lagers and wines. Service always friendly and efficient with a great mix of clientelle of all ages and background.l. Live music in cellar is varied range from ska to rock, folk to jazz. Give it a go!!!

This place is timeless! Really pretty and gorgeous aesthetics

Staff were so lovely and the food was excellent. We went when it was quiet so can't comment on the atmosphere but the place was beautiful and will definitely be going back
