I had my 10th Business Birthday Party at the Brewhouse & Kitchen on Friday night and it was brilliant! ALL the staff were so helpful and attentive. I started with a meal for 11 guests and the food was delicious. Then I had a whole room and a large area of the back of the pub all reserved for my party guests. I could set up the cosy room at the back exactly how I wanted and put up banners, balloons and displays around the back of the pub. I'd pre-ordered some prosecco which the staff brought out for my guests (checking with me first as to the timings) and then later a hot buffet (which got eaten very quickly!). It couldn't have gone better - thank you!

I really wanted it to be good as the beer, location and decor is great but the food really let them down. Sunday roast option was quite frankly inedible. The three meat option - presentation was great - however the chicken and the pork were so dry the knife refused to cut it, The pork dinner - well if you like 70% chewy fat this is for you! On a more positive, the chicken burger, cheese burger and mac and cheese were great….. So the moral of the story is don’t expect a nice Sunday roast on a Sunday!

Amazing Sunday lunch here. Kids portions are big too - easily fed our teenage daughter and wife commented she would have been fine with it too! Service was quick, friendly and the food was worth every penny - not over priced at all.

Held my wife’s 50th birthday party in The Malthouse function room. Absolutely amazing service from everyone involved, particularly Scott and Iona. The food was superb too. Thanks so much for looking after us all.

We are staying at their Airbnb and we entered from their main door entrance, the bouncer pushed me out saying there’s no entry. I could not even finish telling him that I stay at the same place. I have paid to live in the Airbnb. And he just pushed me away without trying to talk. That is unacceptable as a guest at your Airbnb

Nice setting/environment & good beer selection but don't go for food - it's glorified KFC ! Scampi was all batter and side salad / coleslaw had been warmed where a plate and been left under a heater.

The one star was for the chicken burger. Just awful, claimed to be Southern fried but was most definitely microwaved. The sound from the Merrychef was deafening and sure enough a minute later my chicken burger arrived. I would have told the waitress when she came back but she didn't re-appear at any point . I wouldn't recommend eating there to my worst enemy it was that bad.

Poor poor food Out for a Mother's Day Sunday roast - - Very under-cooked Cauliflower, and watery cheese sauce for the Cauliflower Cheese. - Very under-cooked pastry around the Veg Wellington - Plate swimming is water thin gravy (- always let your customer pour their own gravy!) Same experience for tables either side of us Oh yer, and the waiter did't bother writing down the order, so no surprise when things were forgotten

We stayed here overnight in one of the apartments and we couldn’t believe how spacious it was! Everything you need for a short stay and the apartment was clean and tidy. The pub also does an excellent selection of drinks and the garden is a great sun trap. We didn’t try the food but I’m sure it was as good as it looks Overall a fabulous stay and we would definitely return!

I would point out it was Mothers Day so would have been busy but when we arrived for 2.30 it was quiet. Food and drink ordered straight away. Ale pie and fish and chips not available so we had beef roast and a salad with chicken extra. Drinks took 20 mins to arrive and food 45 minutes. Half of the salad items listed on the menue were missing and most of the roast vegtables were inedible. I like dente but this was almost raw. Table next to us had simular experience with drink taking 40 minutes to arrive. Didnt wait for sweet as time was getting on. Counted 7 waiters but only one person in the kitchen. To be fair gave me a discount on the bill but Meal was a disaster. Second time we have eaten there. Simular issues first time around when we were literally the only ones eating. Sorry but not going for third time lucky....

Can anyone tell me what this pub used to be called? My Dad used to live here in the 70s and we can't remember the name of the old pub! Xxx

The beer lines need a regular clean. And staff need to know the prices of items. And I'm sorry but having beers not being replaced regularly is not acceptable. If a beer goes off - you replace it. I don't want to go to a bar and taste a beer which has no flavour or I ask for a beer and it's not been replaced. RUBBISH

Wow. What can I say about my tremendously attentive and empathetic barmaid that served me today. Ash is an absolute treasure. So friendly and made me feel right at home here. I never want to leave. Please don't make me leave. Slay, queen.

Had a birthday party here in the maltings function room. Really enjoyed ourselves. We were well looked after by staff and the buffet went down a treat! Always feel welcome here

Nice pub lovely beer, but the only tonic water they have for gin, has a lemon tang, the first Hendricks I had had no cucumber and without asking a lime was put in, which I quickly took out. But the taste was not like any Hendricks I ever had before. I googled the London essence and found was made with lemon, my second gin monkey 47 asked if different tonic was told that’s the only none flavour tonic, please google and it’s got lemon in it.. had to go next door to the coop and buy fever-tree tonic and the monkey 47 tasted amazing as normal, you do need to change your tonic .

beer at Brewhouse was not fit for purpose dreadful mine tasted of vinegar told manager he was not interested offered me a free drink replacement and i said no thanks that is how bad it is I don’t recall ever rejecting a free drink in my life It’s a great pub with awful beer and food

After reading varying reviews I thought I’d check out the Brewhouse for lunch with my son. I’ve previously only drank there so had no experience with the food. I have to say it was excellent and great value. A similar meal in Harvester would easily be more expensive. My son and I had plenty to choose from and the food was delivered promptly. I had no issues at all with cleanliness, service, food quality or anything. So a job well done and a lesson to not judge a place solely on others’ reviews

Upon arriving here at 12pm could already see tables uncleared. Loads of staff 'hanging' around chatting to each other and on their phones. Just to try to get someones attention was difficult. Rubbish customer service- no asking how meal was etc-speaking of which worst roast dinner ive had out by far! meat tough potatoes not crispy etc. Seriously disappointing when this place has loads of potential but lazy and poor customer service

Booked Sunday lunch , app different to website, no printed Sunday menus , beef was tough , chefs swearing in open kitchen in polish , like a builders yard , manager no bothered , very poor

Loads of menu choices not available. Forgot one of our main courses. Forgot to add chicken to one of our dishes. Nachos were stale. Restaurant wasn't busy but staff were inattentive. Had to ask twice for our bill. Really disappointed as it was my birthday celebration. Won't be going back.

El pedido de comida salió mal con un plato enviado de vuelta y un desastre en la cocina, lo que significa que uno de nosotros tuvo que esperar hasta que todos habían casi terminado para recibir el suyo. La comida era mediocre en el mejor de los casos y el servicio era inexistente. ¡Con tantos sitios geniales para comer en la calle principal, no volveremos por comida pronto!

My family and I went for lunch in December, and we were really disappointed. I ordered a turkey and ham pie, but after waiting around 40 minutes—and seeing other people getting their meals—I was told it wasn’t available. They offered to replace it with a steak and ale pie, and I agreed. When it finally arrived, I couldn’t believe it: the pie was still frozen (as in rock solid frozen) and it was sitting on what looked like microwave pellet-mashed potatoes that had not been mixed together. It was a disgrace. Honestly, it was the worst meal I’ve ever been served. I will never go back for food and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

I went to the Brewhouse for New Years Eve. It was disappointing and I know a few people left as the music really wasn't good, I asked the DJ what type of music would be played and was told a range. I said any dance music because people were not dancing just standing around which I know happens but a good DJ works a room and sees what's going on. In the end we left and went elsewhere.

We had a gathering of nine friends for the evening, for dinner, drinks and chat. We have been before so we knew what to expect. We had an enjoyable time, prompt and excellent service for both our food and drinks. The table was the same one as before - plenty of space, warm and comfortable. Between us we all had three courses - my ribeye steak was excellent , my starter of Fried Calamari was a bit small for the price so that was disappointing but overall it was very good. I had a small glass of wine and a non alcohol bottle of beer which were nice. We all had a good time and everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. We undoubtedly will return at some stage.

We needed to be in Southbourne for a funeral. The Brewhouse & Kitchen was ideally situated between car park and church, so we dropped in for a quick beer and a sandwich beforehand. The welcome could not have been warmer, with the young lady behind the bar both friendly and helpful – as were the other customers. There was nothing wrong with the wide and recherché selection of beers. We ordered focaccia sandwiches with confidence, but she was then mortified to report that … the bread was not ready! It is a tribute to the pub’s relaxed ambience that we simply shrugged this off as a trivial setback and looked forward to the eventual wake instead. That, however, was later revealed to be misplaced optimism. It is a truly cavernous pub that goes on back forever and, although the midweek, midday clientele was sparse, I expect that the joint is jumping at weekends. There appears to be a busy events schedule. It is unlikely that we will be back that way, but if we ever have to attend another family planting/grilling in Southbourne we will be more than happy to drop in again. It just felt like a good place to be, and was faaaaar more pleasant and enjoyable than what was to follow.

The restaurant area is poorly lit, so we were using the torches on our phones to see the menu. Our server lacked knowledge about the menu and didn't tell us in advance what was not available, which wasted lots of time as some of us wanted pie, but had no idea it was not on the menu. Food was mediocre. It is a shame how hit and miss the brewhouse can be with food and service. Due to the inconsistency, it is always a bit of a gamble going there, so we rarely visit, and only went on this occasion because we knew that they could accommodate a large group.

Glasses never get cleared quickly, tables rarely wiped down & are sticky. Hoppy hour is good.

Xmas eve afternoon we came in as family of 6 and ordered some nibbles and drinks....pub was empty and the wait for fries and starters was about 45 min ...and it wasn't even worth the wait...not sure what happened but we won't return probably and we used to come regularly.Shame

Booked for Christmas Day dinner and guests found the day very enjoyable. The Team were great at getting the food served on a very busy day. All the meals were nice and plentiful with no complaints.

The foods and service is absolutely unacceptable , I highly not recomend this place, I won't be going there again , first time and last time !!!

Service was good staff very nice for a Saturday lunch time it was very quite. There were about 3 other tables being served. Husband ordered fishcake with poached egg looked lovely but was not cooked. The fishcake was still frozen in the middle. Manager Michael did apologise and said its because they were busy!!!. He ended up with a portion of chips. Asked them to take his dish off the bill and they only charged us for our drinks. Such a shame, so disappointed.

Oh dear. Sat for a couple of hours catching up with a friend but not spending anything because the bar staff didn't serve us!! Don't think it's acceptable to be standing at the bar for half an hour trying to get a drink! Plus the QR code ordering service wasn't working either. Your loss..and unlikely to meet a?friend here again!

we had our Christmas meal for work on Saturday 14th the service was brilliant the food was promptly served and was very tasty went with out hesitation. staff were polite and nothing was too much trouble. the pub had a good atmosphere and was busy with groups celebrating Christmas with drinks and food was a good night out thank you

Paid £22 per head for the Christmas part to get: 6 finger food style items per person including a chicken wing and cocktail Sausage. We had booked in June for our social and had such a great experience I decided to bring the company back, we had enough food then to take home. This time round some people didn’t even get enough to eat! We nobody was taking crazy portions or went to twice. Really disappointed after talking to the manager the next day who just shrugged it off. Definitely will not be going here again or bring my company here again. Reply : We were given a small side plate of chips, please tell me the portion for chips isn’t 1 chip per person too? I had a client who attended her work party there last week and had a similar experience as our June party where people ended up taking food home? So within a week, the portions had changed/ doubled. I can see there is other reviews about the rudeness of the managers.

Happy hour is well worth a visit. The bar staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the beers.

Absolutely beautiful vibe and decoration. Very cosy. Staff are exceptionally lovely and attentive. Food was enjoyable and well made. The little downside is that we waited a log time and the place wasn't really busy, but these things happen. I will definitely come back, lovely place.

We booked a table for 10 on a quiet Sunday evening. Food was mostly good, waitresses were really lovely. This was a first get together for us in over a year and a couple more people turned up and politely asked if it was ok to join the table. The waitresses were really accommodating but the manager was extremely rude which was entirely unnecessary. (There was only one other table in the restaurant). That aside, we had a great time catching up!

Friendly enough and the food was OK, but service was slow, and after a mishap with their ordering system, we waited over an hour for dessert. Even so, they still put 10% service charge on the bill!

Just been there with my husband, steak was sooo fatty, they forgot the sauce and the onion rings, when they did come they were so overdone, it was freezing in there too. Won't be going there again ever, we didn't attempt a pudding !!!

It’s sad to see that the pub was closed with no warning to any guests bookings. Appreciate a maintenance issue and having opportunity while closed to decorate etc but guests that have booked parties, wakes etc in advance not warned. .

We went for a roast as it looked so good ..sadly the crackling on the pork was soggy not crisp ..pork was fatty ..veg was soggy and overall just not the best considering the price

Came for a meal and drink with the old man yesterday. Had a bratwurst which was amazing and the drink went down very nicely. Service from the bar staff was spot on and very accommodating for my dog. Only gripe was the side of chips were quite cold but I didn't say anything at the time as I was starving! Definitely recommend and will be back soon!

The Southbourne B&K is a great pub to bring your dog! They even have doggie snacks for free!

Recently organised a 50th Birthday Celebration for around 20 people. The whole reservation process ran really smoothly and the menu pre-order email and service made it so easy for everyone to order and pay at the end for what they had. Email follow up and response was prompt and efficient and the staff went the extra mile to accommodate table decoration beforehand and storage of cake in their fridge. Staff were friendly and flexible on the night due to some guests late arrival. Food was great for this event and service to table brilliant. Even had the added bonus of a small disco. Couldn’t recommend enough for a party gathering! Thanks guys, you did a fab job. See you soon!

I always try to eat here when I visit Bournemouth. Food is always nice. Staff are always very pleasant.

We have had meals in the Southbourne - Brewhouse many time But on Sunday the meals were cold. The only thing that was hot was the Gravy .. we sent them back twice and each time there has no difference in the template .. not going back for a roast here again …

Fantastic food with exceptional great staff

Went to the Brewhouse Southbourne on Saturday evening for drinks and dinner with friends. Very poor service, extremely long wait to buy a drink at the bar, to place our food order, and to receive our meals. Some food items were wrong, burnt and freezing cold. The dessert was brick hard. Very let down, as I had recommended the Brewhouse to my friends. We will eat elsewhere in future.

Waited 20 mins at the bar to buy a drink. Staff seemed oblivious to the people waiting at one side of the bar. Another customer walked around to the other side of the bar as he was fed up being ignored. Asked a waitress if we could place our food order, she said she would go fetch a machine, 40 mins later before she came back to take our order. We ordered some cheesy bread to nibble on whilst waiting for our dinner. The bread arrived with our meals, almost an hour later, and it was the wrong bread. My macaroni cheese was delicious, but the bread accompanying it was burnt black. My friend's meal was cold. We only ordered one dessert, but my friend said the cookie was rock hard. The restaurant area wasn't even extremely busy. No apologies for our long wait. Very disappointed with the service and the food so unfortunately we won't be eating here again.

Received an email from Brew house and Kitchen Southbourne asking me to rate my recent visit. I've no real idea how they knew I was there ? I didn't book, just went for drinks. One can only assume something so powerful that it knows where I am at any given time asks for feedback, you'd better give it 5 stars. I just advise you all before you enter the Pub to clear your Browser History, you're been watched.

Fantastic place to eat, drink and stay! The food is spot on with a lovely range in menu, great price too to match the great quality of food, really nice dining space which makes it a lovely place for any occasion. Service was really good and Team members were lovely. Along with that they are dog friendly which is really appreciated when you want to take your dog along with you! Would 10/10 recommend a visit, whether a casual drink or place to stay.

We stayed a night in the airbnb and also tried a selection of the small plates in the pub. The app didn’t work properly to order to the table and there didn’t seem to be enough staff working for how busy the pub and kitchen were so it was a bit slow. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well decorated, the toilet seemed to struggle to flush properly but that was the only issue in the flat. The small plates were all tasty and a reasonable price, several vegetarian options too, but drinks were a bit pricy though - £6 for a jagerbomb.

We only came in for one drink! The bar staff were so friendly, we spoke to Brandon and he recommend us beers to try when we first arrived. We had a few pints in the atmospheric bar and decided to try our luck in the resturant, which was busy, but our waitress Fiona who was the only one serving was more than happy to find us a table, even offering to move us out of the sun when we pointed out it was shining right in my husbands eyes. The food was good, the pie had good flavour but could have been hotter in the middle. Big portions! Both of us tried a few more of the beers the servers had recommended, and really enjoyed our evening! We will be back I’m sure, and this time leave room for dessert!

I was lucky enough to have been gifted a Brewery Experience Day by my wife and, having dabbled with home brewing, I was looking forward to learning more about the process on a larger scale. The day started with a briefing from Head Brewer Richard, followed by the full procedure from adjusting water chemistry, adding the grains to the mash, sparging, boiling, chilling and then transferring the results to the fermenter and pitching the yeast. Breakfast and lunch are provided and throughout the day you get to sample all the beers brewed on site. You also take away a 5 litre keg of a beer of your choice at the end. If you wanted to know more about where your beer comes from then this is the experience for you but be warned, it’s quite a physically demanding day (especially stirring the mash), and you’ll want to wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet! The 1000 litres of Hazy IPA we brewed will be available in Southbourne and Bournemouth in early September and I can’t wait to try it. A big thank you to Richard and the Brewhouse team for a very enjoyable day.

I run a Speaker Club once a month in the Malt House Room. Yesterday the room was pre-set as requested with chairs, tea, coffee and biscuits. Great service! Thank you.

The place has a nice vibe but we felt ignored for the first minutes after we arrived. we eventually placed our order at the bar. I have dietary restrictions and can't eat gluten or dairy so there was only item on the menu that I could eat. That meal was also the only one that had any vegetables in it. Shocking!

I didn't stay overnight here but based on the beautifal decor and huge nicely widespread layout I can imagine the rooms to be quite nice. The food is lovely, we had the lunch specials... I brought fish goujons and for the price what I recieved was beautiful and yummy. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful. Dog water bowls are available most places I seen in there. They have a huge beer garden which is lovely with huts, high benches and normal benches with canopies. They also have may parts available to rent out for hire for parties or just a great weekend out! Actually did exceed my expectations!

Since moving to Southbourne this has been our local. Cannot fault the place at all! Harry, Lindon, Adam and Fin are always very welcoming and always giving great service! They go above and beyond like most of the staff but these are just our favourites!

We arrived to the pub at 7pm and sat down to then be told we can’t order however in 10 minutes we will be able to. We waited about 20 minutes and went back to the guy we originally spoke to and politely asked if we can order he again said it will be longer in a rude tone. We proceeded to wait for over an hour. Then finally we got told we can order. So we ordered and have now been waiting 1hour since ordering. My side came now however was cold and we got told everything gonna be coming out separately which defeats the whole point as we ordered a meal to enjoy together. I am really unhappy with this experience and was not once offered a partial refund or a drink/ desserts on the house. Which o believe would have been fair after waited hours.

Nice pub, atmosphere etc - have been before and usually pretty good / friendly. Not so great today….. Seemed like a hassle for the bar person to have to serve us. 2 pints of lager cost £13 Website said brunch was served 12-1pm - tried to order and advised not possible (just after 12). Brunch menus on table?

Will not be returning. Been waiting hours for any sort of service.

We had a query with our gift card but James contacted head office to sort. He kept in touch everyday with an update by email and it didn't take long to sort. Thank you James. Great service. All the staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful and having lived in Southbourne in the past, I know the food is great.

Excellent, friendly & very efficient service - observant hostess noted I was hobbling on crutches and thoughtfully offered us a table closer to the one reserved.. We both ordered the Sunday roast-everything from the thick cut slices of beef, roast potatoes and selection of vegetables that were perfectly cooked (accompanied with additional gravy boat)... & the freshly cooked Yorkshire pudding, was absolutely delicious! Although it was a shame the Prosecco & blackcurrant cheesecake wasn't available, we enjoyed the churros/chocolate dip - We will definitely be back to eat here again...😁

Hadn't got the first three beers I chose, hadn't got my first choice main meal or dessert. Staff are lovely but we won't be back.

From the outside it looks unassuming however looks can be deceiving - a thriving atmosphere with a great selection of drinks and amazing service and real strong favourite whilst visiting southbourne and definitely worth visiting if you are anywhere nearby. Almost forgot to mention make sure you order food as it was next level and everything we ordered was amazing 20/10 I look forward to our next visit.

Brewhouse is my local pub and I come here often with friends, family, my husband or on my own. For this reason and because we like the pub, the atmosphere and location I wasn't going to leave a review despite receiving many emails asking for feedback but after today I feel like something needs to be said in hope for a change. I came today for a glass of wine, the bar was dead at just after 8pm, max of 6 people inside. I got to the bar, one person serving and 2 others busy chatting to a colleague off shift. Fair enough, it wasn't busy. I waited painterly by the bar for a while watching the bartender finishing serving another customer. Meanwhile a guy walked in and stood right next to me. The bartender went around the corner and when he came back he proceeded to serve the guy next to me, even though I was first! Even he pointed at me acknowledging I was there first but the bartender ignored it and proceeded to serve him. This is NOT the first time. It happens A LOT. I understand when it's busy but we were the only 2 people at the bar! The service at the bar is awful and has been for a long time now. New staff on a regular basis. Always very slow, weekends are shocking, the staff lacks experience and customer service skills. Every time you go to the bar you don't know what to expect. There are probably 2 good bartenders behind the bar that hold this place together. That's it. This is not good enough. I'm sure for a venue of this proportions there is room for investing in staff training!

A great night out at the quiz. And I got a free birthday pint. The voucher said free IPA, but the bar staff were happy to change to lager. As always, excellent beer and great ambience.

We used a virgin voucher towards a beer tasting and burger meal for two. We had booked for Saturday night but the pub was packed with England supporters and very noisy. So we switched to Sunday lunch time. A great pub with plenty of industrial charm. It’s an enormous grand building originally a hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The meal of two burgers and fries were good and we also had a roast chicken and veggie wellington both with roast sides ( but the yorkies were forgotten) all very nice . The taster beers were far bigger than I was imagining over 2 pints worth. Sadly as we were driving home not the ideal day to sample them all and do the experience justice. However, I would rrcommend it!

This place could have a lot going for it.. if only they didn't use such unprofessional knuckle draggers as door staff. Real shame!
