I collected special fried rice and chilli prawns and curry sauce it was fresh and nice.

Why do they cook all of the food in old oil? It’s like they’re scooping it out of a dirty deep fryer and cook the egg fried rice and all other dishes with it, giving everything a slightly rancid taste.

Chans Chow has been our absolute favourite Chinese (and some Thai) take away for YEARS. We’ve tried others and none compare. Also they have really lovely, speedy service, whether collecting or getting delivery.

I was deceived by the reviews (4.3 out of 5) before ordering. Food was horrendous, very low quality and obviously they use low quality oil. The food smelled, especially the prawn crackers which stank to high heaven. I fear to think what oil they use...would not recommend to anyone. Have had way better quality Chinese food than this.

Very bad quality food, they obviously use extremely bad quality oil. I am and have always been a fan of Chinese food. I eat in Chinese restaurants very often; this is by far one of the worst Chinese take aways I have ever had in my life. Horrendous quality; obviously 'food for the masses' aimed at customers who don't know any better and also have no idea what good quality food tastes like. Would definately not recommend to anyone.

First time ordering today. The food was delicious! The meat was tasty and tender and the veggies were crisp and colourful. We chose a large selection and were delighted with every dish! The food arrived quickly and piping hot. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely gentleman on the phone, BUT unfortunately the egg fried rice wasn’t even fried im sure it was cooked rice, put in the microwave with an egg and mixed around and the chicken balls were very WERID inside really dark “picture to show” ,…… chips and sauces were nice but that’s not enough for me to go back sorry.

Been picking up takeaways from here for a couple a months now and it’s always delicious. The ingredients and the food stand out as very fresh. The egg fried rice is the best I’ve ever had, and I spent a month in China once.

I have been a customer of Chan’s Chow for years now and have always enjoyed their food. And they are super quick delivering. But my last meal from them was so bad, I will not be a customer again. The food was a little under par but then I tasted a prawn and it was spit it out disgusting. It was revolting. I can only assume it was heavily off. The spring rolls were burnt and inedible. Sad that one bad experience can end custom but I can never trust the food again so will have to try elsewhere. Shame, as I like to support local businesses.

I ordered Massaman Duck Curry and it tasted awfully sweet. The salt garlic chicken wings are so salty that I felt hard to swallow. The chicken fried noddle is extremely oily that I can literally pour excess oil out of the pot. This place made me so sick of takeaway food which put me off any other takeaway food for a month at least! They did give me free portion of veg spring rolls though.

We ordered a takeaway meal for 3, the food arrived quickly, was hot, there was lots of it and it was absolutely delicious !

Sweet and sour pork is a pretty basic dish to get right but oh my god I have never eaten anything like what I have just tried to eat - to the point of spitting it out and please believe me I am not a fussy eater.

Had an excellent take away from this place. Food was really delicious and portions were good. Would recommend and definitely order again.

Ordered for 13 people Friday 6.45 pm, ready for collection by 7.15 pm. Mixture of beef, chicken and vegetable dishes, rice and noodles, all excellent. Easily/quickly answered question about allergen (any nuts in food, for food allergy).

Very good classic English style Chinese. Reasonably priced, good portions and not too greasy.

This is my local and I swear by it, out of all chinese takeaways in the area this is by far the best for flavour and consistency which seems to be hard to find. Good pricing and the staff seem friendly enough :)

A fantastic meal for a party of 10 people, one person had a severe peanut allergy, Chans Chow were very helpful and accommodating with allergies which meant we could all enjoy a meal together. Well done 👏

Found this place few weeks ago. Up until last night food was lovely. However last night ordered king prawn curry, from the start just wasn't as nice as previous curry's. Just tasted don't know bit off, the prawns were raw. Needless to say, an hour later was extremely ill, throwing up. Guess I won't be using them again 😕

Really boring Chinese food, usual greasy rice and spring rolls not worth it just chuck a load of pepper in to make it taste like even better hey

The best and most authentic chinese restaurant i've tried in Bristol. They are reasonably priced, always deliver quickly and will chuck in extras such as prawn crackers or even drinks upon request. Definitely recommend.

Best Chinese I've had for years

We got some really lovely food from here. Chilli crispy beef was crispy and tasty. Arrived pretty quickly.too.

I had Thai sweet chicken in chilli sauce which was SO salty, thick and gloopy with cashew nuts which luckily I wasn't allergic to but didn't realise they would be included as there was no mention of them on the menu. It looked and tasted disgusting. You either get a good meal or a inedible meal here - it's just pot luck everytime but don't think we will take the chance yet again!

I can’t give a review for this food because we never received it. We especially pre ordered our food at 6.30pm as we knew a Friday night would be busy. Put the order through and was given a delivery time of 8-8.30pm. At 8pm, we received an email that has cancelled our order because they are too busy. Firstly they shouldn’t have put the order through in the first place if this was the case, and secondly don’t give out your number to ring and then not answer with an explanation of why you have decided to cancel our order after waiting an hour and a half!!!! Absolute joke. And completely ruined our evening.

Ordered Szechuan king prawn and Szechuan tofu, rice, seaweed and prawn toasts. All tasted fresh, clean and nice and really enjoyed it.

Better than average takeaway and good value. The Hong Kong style sweet and sour is good. I've been ordering from here for a few years now and I've always had a good experience.

Ordered here last Saturday and was very impressed! Food was very delicious and portion size was very big! Also accommodated to something I wanted they didn't have on the menu and cooked it perfectly. Great price as well. Definitely recommending and coming back :)

Great takeaway! All reasonably priced, food was hot and had lots of flavour. Good portion sizes. Ordered the quarter duck with pancakes, pork ribs, crispy beef and roasted pork rice. All good quality. Will definitely order again. Reccomend.

Really tasty food! Great service as it doesn’t take too long to receive your order. The staff are really friendly and can recommended food for you to order if you have no idea what to get. 3rd or 4th time using this Chinese and I have to say it’s really very good. It’s hard to find a decent Chinese and we’re well chuffed to have found these guys. Wet quick delivery and tasty good food. Can recommend honey ribs, special noodles, special curry and pancake rolls. All excellent.

Never seen anything like it !! Really bad food , most of it looked and tasted like it was from last week really dry and looked horrible, left a duck leg bone in with the fatty dry pritty much no meat duck , chop suey was bean spouts and sweet and sour with chicken no veg or anything , Lemon sauce smelt like piss , I feel devastated now as I couldn’t even eat it now wasted money on this place ! Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

Excellent food tried it out for the first time last night and I’m so blown away, I’m ordering again today. Craven, I know but it’s a cheat weekend, anyways, best Chinese in Bristol hands down.

A very good chinese takeaway serving tasty food at a reasonably price. Staff have always been friendly, and food prepared relitively quickly when I have been. No option to eat in, but a fairly efficient takeaway service.

Delicious food and delivery very quickily

We use this as our Chinese take away regularly and I can say the price is very decent for the standard of food. Fairly good menu as you’d expect. Have never eaten in the place always takeaway. Can pay by card too which is handy when you’ve no cash lying around. Friendly service when speaking to the staff on phone or delivery.

Friendly, family place. It's been our go to for as long as I can remember.

Had a takeaway disaster from here. Egg fried rice (OK), Kung Po Chicken (Overcooked, chicken like rubber with very soft water chestnuts), Salt and Pepper Squid (overcooked squid very chewy, very hot chilli used which made it almost impossible to eat) and Beef with Ginger and Spring Onion (overcooked - beef as tough as old boots). Will never get food from them again.

Never that impressed with the food, they do have a varied menu though and the prices are good. Perfectly ok for a cheap takeaway but not the tastiest.

Really helpful on the phone, really clean food. Would recommend to anyone. The delivery driver had to wait five minutes while I grabbed some money and was happy to wait. What a dude!

We've been buying take away from here for a long time and unfortunately, the food varies. Sometimes it's great for months, really tasty, then it's not all that great. Maybe this is a change in chef? I'm not sure, but it means that we order from here less than we otherwise might...

Thought we'd try a new Chinese takeaway as our usual one has gone down hill and I'd read some good reviews about Chans Chow - didn't disappoint at all. Really fresh tasting, not greasy or sickly-sweet like a lot of places, very impressed with the quality of food, speed of service and a friendly delivery guy too! Definitely going to be our new go-to Chinese take away from now on!

We love Chans, it’s so much better, tastier and value for money than the other Chinese places in Bristol. My group of friends cover pretty much every dietary requirements and they have options for everyone!

Local to us and we're very grateful to have a good takeaway around the corner. The dishes are tasty and good value, and we appreciate they are not oily, which many Chinese takeaways tend to be. Happy to recommend to others.

Tuvimos el primer plato mixto, 1 / 4 pato, sal y pimienta Pollo calamares, Kung Po huevo frito y arroz. Todos los elementos estaban más aromatizada y hecha a la medida en que la mayoría de lo tiró.

One of the best takeaway meals I've had. Satay starter was delicious, the sauce was especially good with a hint of chili heat alongside the expected peanut flavour. Really good value and friendly, helpful staff. Will be back soon.

We went out for valentines last night ...... so thought we would have a takeaway tonight, never again ! Have had some really nice food before but tonight's was inedible......... not only the wrong order which after phoning them they didn't seem that bothered ......... plus the food was cold ! NEVER AGAIN

Ordered food here every week! Taste very fresh & authentic :) my favorite is the satay chicken skewers. Staff told me the chef blend all the sauces himself! Def recommended.

Chan's Chow serve fresh and nice Chinese hot food at affordable price. I like their curry dishes the most which are not too spicy and really yums! And not forget to say that Chan's Chow serve huge portion of food as well.

I've ordered almost every week! Food is fresh, very polite staff, chef is Chinese. My favorite is their Satay dishes, which was very tasty compare to many other takeaways i've tried, as the chef grind these rich peanut sauce themselves! The sweet &amp; sour dishes is recommended too. Highly recommended!

I ordered a take away from here for delivery this evening. After waiting just over an hour I called to check. They said that the food wasn't in the kitchen so they 'assumed' it was out for delivery! They said to wait another 15 minutes, which I did. After 15 minutes there was still no food so I called back. They had no idea where the driver was. I said I would wait on the phone while they called him. Initially they couldn't get hold of him, they did eventually. The lady was, to be fair, apologetic and said I could have the order for half price. She then said that she had spoken to the driver and he was on his way. I asked he obvious question of where the driver was and they then admitted that it would be another half an hour! At this point I told them I no longer wanted the order as two hours for a delivery was ridiculous. So no Chinese, a very angry person and I'll never use them again. Shame as I used to like them.

Good menu but the food is really quite bland and difficult to tell which dish you are eating. Fairly priced but not the best chinese around.

Have been using Chan's for a few years and on the whole it has been good. I don't know of many better Chinese takeaway in the area. It's worth trying a few of the dishes as they vary. They include vegetables in quite a few of the dishes which is great as I'm not a fan of just meat and rice.

I'm sure lot of people have eaten here and been fine but this is my review after my experience.I ate from here last weekend. I had the chicken with mushrooms and chips and it tasted like it was microwaved and so so hot i could not eat it for ten minutes after i arrived home with it in Henbury.The next day and all the following evening I had really sharp stomach pains that lasted until late that evening. I had not eaten from any where else in the day leading up to me getting my dinner from Chan's Chow.On the second morning I started to improve and made a full recovery.Its safe to say I will not be eating from CHAN'S CHOW ever again.

This used to be my favourite takeaway. Sometimes it's fantastic, and other times (mainly Mon-weds quiet times) the food is not fresh. It's a bit disappointing as I go there weekly or get a home delivery, and although the owners are friendly, they could at least give me some fresh prawn crackers. Sometimes these have been so stale I've thrown them away. Such a shame as I mentioned above sometimes they are very good but this is making me think about finding a new fave Chinese takeaway.

We regularly get our Saturday night takeaway from chans chow and love it! Saturday nights normally have an hour wait (to be delivered) so factor this into your planning. But weekdays it can take as little as 20 minutes. The food always arrives hot and is very tasty! Highly recommended!

The lady who initially answered the phone had a poor command of the english language and struggled to take my address, I was then passed onto a guy who took my address and order. 45 minutes I was told for delivery, after an hour I called and apparently the driver couldn't find my house and was given the wrong mobile number so couldn't call me. We went through the whole thing again and another 30 minutes later it eventually arrived, unsurprisingly cold.There was no discount offered, and the free drinks and prawn crackers they promised as compensation for it being so late also never arrived. And the food was barely edible, very generic Chinese food that tasted like a cheap microwave version from Tesco.Avoid

We've found our local Chinese. Food always ranges between good, very good and excellent.
