Champs Sports Bar & Grill - Hillsborough in Sheffield

The staff were extremely rude when we visited. The staff were mainly female and they would only serve the male customers. I queued for 55 minutes, my boyfriend joined the queue and waited for 10 minutes. Extremely unfriendly and generally poor attitude. There was a fight and I tried to help the bar lady, I got a dirty look in return. It ruined the football for us, won’t be going back

Server was incredibly rude. I visited on 14th July for the big game and the server kept bypassing me and a lovely lady to serve the conventionally pretty girls and his own friends. Very discriminatory considering the server was a member of the BAME community themselves. Won’t be coming back, very BAD service.

Honestly visited this place in may last year, I was away for work. Missing home, big Newcastle fan. There was a big game on, wanted to go out to watch it because the hotel wifi was terrible. My work colleague decided to tag along, he's a good soul so why not. It was meant to be a quiet one, 3-4 pints, cheer the lads on through the screen as you do then head to bed for work in the morning. Must win game - we battered them. However unfortunately Sheffield Wednesday were doing the absolute impossible and overturning a 4-0 deficit in the second leg of a playoff semi-final. It was only an extra hour, but the atmosphere there was so great that also ended up being an extra 3-4 pints and a rather drunken pizza from the papa johns a few doors down. A year later and someone at work mentioned they're from Sheffield, which brought me back to my visit to this city. It was a terrible trip, but this bar is the only reason I look back on it with a positive nostalgia. The people there, the staff, were absolutely amazing. I'm yet to find a bar I've enjoyed as much as this in my own area. I've never met so many friendly strangers or staff in my life. I highly, highly recommend it.

We got there too early and they still weren't serving food so we went to TacoBell and Lunch box.

Good atmosphere, but a little expensive

Wow !! This place is huge... I came here just before opening and was amazed at the size of this venue... Huge amount of indoor and outside seating with multitudes of screens showing the latest sports depending on your taste in sports they can show multiple different events at the same time (just ask at the bar and tell them where your sitting) Tastefully decorated with comfy seating and exceptionally clean throughout with no attention to detail missed. 3 pool tables and the biggest outdoor screen I've ever seen at a pub.. outside bar is open during the summer and sporting events. Beers from £2.95 and spirits from £1.99 5 minute walk from the university campas this is the ideal meet and greet hub. Champs is a stunning venue serving food from 12 midday till 9 Friendly staff and comfy surroundings, a real treat on them hot summer days to come. 😎

Big love to that ginger bird she is a legend!!!! Fit and pours great pints, only reason I’d ever go to champs, but it’s a great boozer regardless.

Stopped for some lunch with the family while we were in the area. Great for me as Soccer Saturday was on, not great for my wife who wanted the vegan burger but they didn't have any left. Food selection could be bigger, but it's a sports bar, not a restaurant. I don't know why I'm even bringing it up. Anyway - 1 star off for the lack of snap for the Mrs, staff were nice though.

Saturday night was a shambles. Is it always like this? I was stood at the front of the bar for 20 minutes without a single acknowledgment from staff. Ended up walking off and sobering up for two hours while watching the free boxing. This isn't the staff's fault, there just isn't enough of them. I wasn't the only one leaving the bar without a drink either. You could make way more money with 2-3 more people on at peak saturday night. Won't be back in a rush, simply because you can't get what you came in for!

Terrible service. It took me 20 minutes to get served at the bar while the staff served all the other 10 men that came after me. My friend is pregnant and asked for food and they say "oh we are very busy come back in 20" as if you can wait 1 hour for food when you are pregnant?? First time here and don't think I will be coming back

Sports bar? What a joke. At the moment they have karaoke on full blast while Sheffield Wednesday is playing. Reyt annoying. Someone also accidentally switched channels during the game for about 3 mins, could not see anything. For anything sports-related, I would not recommend.

Good for sports and a game of pool, burgers are pretty nice. Don't order the nachos they are not as described on the menu (tiny portion and came with a bit of melted cheese no salsa jalapeños or sour cream like it said) the drinks are pretty cheap but the shots are way over priced I paid £3.70 for. Shot. Also the venue was super dirty and the place was pretty quite when we got there, the toilets had no toilet roll all night. None of the tables were wiped at any point which is pretty disappointing when you're eating in an establishment all in all it was an okay place but I won't be in a rush to go back

6pm on a Saturday and gents toilets are an absolute write off. Told bar staff and got 'ok'...

My friend booked a booth with a TV for the football last night, when we arrived all the booths were full, we asked the staff if they could clear us the booth we booked and they said that they couldn' because people were sat in it! What is the point of booking system if it is not enforced. Poorly run and needs new management ASAP!

Superb facilities for sports fans. Need to sort staffing out on Match days. left after 2 drinks on Saturday morning because of the delayed service from 2(then 3) bar staff walked around the corner and found pub with half the punters but twice the bar staff. Management not looking at the bigger picture.

Was full of angry Man Utd and Liverpool fans who made the atmosphere toxic. Tables were not attended to so were dirty...... ketchup, crumbs, dirty glasses

Came up from the big citeh for a mega one with an old pal forward rolling down down the eccy for maximum shunts. But four euros for a toasty!? Ya joking aren't ya!?

Spot on bar, plenty of room, large bar area great bar food, two huge screen's,best one in the very large beer garden (No plants😀) plus numerous smaller one's evey which way you turn your head, great atmosphere,the only downside is the beer is far too expensive, but all in all a good place.

Me and a friend arrived for a drink early on a friday, Rob was very accommodating he gave us a lesson in fruity gins and then showed us a table outside before bringing us our gins! The golf was on a huge screen in the beer garden! And then we enjoyed the music and atmosphere. Very much recommend the bar.

Sat in the beer garden for a few drinks with friends. Ordered via the app, drinks didn't arrive, questioned this with staff after 20 mins and they asked for the receipt so they could get the drinks. Arrived 10 minutes later and dropped the drinks when transferring to the table. Second time we ordered...we ordered a non alcoholic cider and they gave our friend ( who was driving) an alcoholic one. He didn't realise until half way through the drink. Alerted the bar staff and there was no apology just a replacement. Third round, ordered drinks, member of staff came outside 15 minutes later with a receipt and asked if we'd ordered drinks, said yes and she informed us they could no longer serve us in the beer garden (10pm) so if we wanted our drinks, we'd have to move inside and take the receipt to the bar. Moved inside, went to bar, barman didn't have a clue what we were on about. Ordered a whisky and coke and a separate measure of whisky, both came with coke. Had to ask for this to be corrected. Visited the ladies toilets. One cubicle had a hole in the door where the lock should be so you could see straight in. The next cubicle had vomit all over the toilet and floor. Cubicle I used had a roll of toilet roll sat on the floor (disgusting). No social distancing in the toilets whatsoever. The guys reported that the mens toilets were flooded with urine on the floor. Whole experience topped by a RAT running through the beer garden whilst we were outside and my partner stepping in sick when walking out of the venue. (They'd conveniently covered it with a piece of paper towel and not bothered cleaning it up). Most vile experience in Sheffield I've ever had.

We waited at the front door and no one came to instruct us what to do re Covid or where to sit. We struggled initially with the drink ordering process (scanning a code on each table). You'd think that staff might cotton on to the fact we were sitting there with no order coming through. Maybe get the staff to actually check that newly arrived clients aren't struggling with ordering? We finally sorted it. The drink was fine. We didn't eat but the food did look good. When we left there was still no one manning the front desk where customers are asked to wait.

Cocktails tasted a bit watery Drink service was quick And the wings would be in my top 3 Lots of seating and have shuffleboard and pool tables (should book for guarantee of space)

Great bar staff, can't remember the lads name but he was a top bloke and very friendly it was on Friday 28th May around 4pm so please promote him!

DO NOT BOOK HERE FOR FOOTBALL! we booked a table for the biggest game of the season specifically stating in the booking request that was why we where going, only to be placed on a table with no view of a TV ruined the first we weren't even able to catch a glimpse of highlights without being asked to move back DO NOT ACCEPT BOOKINGS FOR FOOTBALL IF YOUR NOT GOING TO LET CUSTOMERS WATCH IT AND RUIN THE GAME FOR THEM!

Tried to book a table and rang 8 times. Got there and was told I should have used Facebook. Very poor service and rather overpriced too.

Rang several times throughout the day and emailed to book a table. When we arrived they said we needed a booking.

Walked in as party of three for table service (due to Covid). The table we ended up sitting at hadn't been cleaned from the previous patrons. Despite the member of staff saying he would come straight to us with menus, we were left to wait for over five minutes while we watched him stand by the bar and go on his phone. We ended up walking out once we had had enough of being ignored and messed about. If that was the service while simply waiting to be acknowledged, then we weren't waiting for food or drinks.

The refurbishment has been good, but has unfortunately meant that prices have become significantly inflated from what they were before. Whatever you do, DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE!! We waited 45 minutes for ours to arrive, only to find it had apparently been blasted in the microwave, as it was all rubbery and dry. The food is also ridiculously overpriced for what it is. If you're looking for a drink and sport locally, the Nursery Tavern or the Sports Shack are far superior!

A really good sports bar. Loads of good quality displays in every direction - even outside as long as it not raining! Even a set of displays across the back of try he bar so you don't miss a play when getting a round in. That was quite useful this morning as there was a big crowd for the Rugby World Cup final and long queues at the bar. A couple more staff today would have aced a five star but would totally recommend to watch sports and enjoy a bevvie or two.

Good atmosphere and nice drinks but disappointed by their prawn salad. 90% onion, topped with just 4 prawns and cost £10! Might be better for other food but def felt like a let down.

Not a good visit at all, looks great, very welcoming. Lots of sports screens. However, waited ages to be served while it very quiet. Staff seemed to be chatting among one another. Had an average beer, but the place stunk. Don't know if there was a toilet issue, or drainage issue. But was vile

Recently been done up, great to go for food or drinks to watch any sport. They can sometimes change a TV to one you want to watch too.

The food was a let down, the beer was overpriced, and the staff were indifferent. Very average. Many better places in the area to visit.

It's been nicely done out inside, I visited here as part of a group, sports bar wouldn't normally be my preferred location but the screens were at a reasonable volume and the bar was well priced. Staff were courteous when serving, not so hot on noticing you needed serving and a bit more involved in their own conversations. An enjoyable evening overall and I would return. Thanks

Great affordable place, TV is amazing for sports and the games you offer are fun.

We went for lunch on their re-opening day (March 1st) and it wasn't a great experience - waited an hour for food to come out, and one of our party's order wasn't brought out at all so she had to go back to work hungry. I understand they had major staff shortages that day which is going to be challenging to overcome, but you'd think that re-opening on Friday, right after payday and next to a very big, busy office would mean that they'd plan ahead. Also, the corn dogs I ordered were very disappointing - a Cumberland sausage very lightly brushed with breadcrumbs and not deep-fried isn't a corn dog! 👎

Terrible service. Stood there 20 minutes, did not get served, and there were customers awaiting longer than me. So football is definitely free, as you don't get a chance to buy anything. It wasn't even busy for a Saturday night.

We went here for pub lunch and, although it was quite quiet, there was a long wait for food. They also didn't offer a gluten free menu. However, the food was better than your typical 'pub grub' but you do pay the price for it.
