We visited with our friends who were over from Australia. I had requested a table with a good view and they delivered, prime table overlooking the harbour. Staff were really helpful and friendly and the food excellent Would definitely recommend

Don't usually complain about cost, but £12 each for an egg cup size of potted crab and 4 warm bread sticks seems like taking the p**". Come on guys, get real.

Inside or outside this place is fantastic. Inside the pub is a lovely traditional place with a central bar offering up a host of drinks. Upstairs they have further restaurant space with great views over the harbour.....sitting outside is also lovely with great views over the Quay on comfy seating with large parasols to keep sun or indeed rain off. We shared Scampi and gad cold drinks, really pleasant. As always the service was excellent and the food tasty.

I thought I would treat myself to a roast which I would not cook for one. I was put in a separate room presumably because a had a dog with me. I was on my own for the entire meal. Thank goodness I could see out of the window otherwise the experience would have been soulless. Food was OK though expensive for what was a carvery Sunday lunch.

Scampi was delicious, but I was ravenous. We did order some cheesy chips, which if I’m being frank there was a significant disparity with regards the chips to cheese ratio (we will be bringing our own cheese next.. maybe even a greater as well) the chips were indeed fantastically fluffy inside and crispy on the outside side… 8/10 We also ordered an unwanted lemon posset which in really reality to be unwanted. However it got smashed by a knees up mother brown type who throughly enjoyed it (perhaps more than he should) quick query though are the raspberry’s really vegan. All in all would recommend, defo going back for my tea Nice place nice staff good view good vibes. 😎

We sat outside upstairs looking at the amazing view and ordered 2 lattes. The coffee was hot and served with a biscuit. Grace served us at the bar and brought our coffees out to us. She was warm, friendly and polite! It made us feel very welcome. The newly updated outside seating area is fantastic - no more sloping down the hill! The lighting and planters look amazing can't wait to go back again for a glass of wine. This is easily the best pub in Falmouth.

Service great, but food bland and definitely overpriced. I had the hake which was placed on top of mushy new potatoes, hardly no sauce and no vegetables, at £21.00. My hubby had the lamb shoulder which was basically minced lamb clumped together. Our friends werent too impressed with thei meals either. None very appealing or appetising. Our table was smack bang in the middle of the walkway too, so whilst we were eating people were brushing past us. We are local and won't be returning for food again, we will just treat it as a pleasant place to drink.

Lovely staff but very mediocre food. Hake had obviously been kept warm for a length of time as it was dry and a hard crust on top. Chicken burger very poor. Again, dry,hard and unappetizing.

Been coming here for 6 years when doing the twice yearly visit to family-we always get a warm welcome and know we are going to have a great experience. Only one little criticism-we came for an evening meal on a Sunday and unfortunately several of the pudding choices had run out. The crumble had obviously been a popular Sunday lunch pud! Make bigger ones for Sundays!😋😊

Great service, especially from the lovely Lydia. The food was very nice, but the sardine starter consisted of 2 small sardines and a bit of salad costing £9. Come on St Austell Brewery, we know you're primarily targeting tourists, but that's a rip off!

We had a very pleasant evening in the restaurant at the Chain Locker, the decor was appealing and the location, next to the harbour, perfect. Our meal was very good, my husband opting for the brined pork chop which was tasty and succulent whilst I had the salt & pepper squid which was very good. We were looked after expertly by Lydia who was friendly, approachable and attentive, thank you Lydia, you made our evening very enjoyable.

More than just a pub. We dined upstairs, beautiful views and delicious dishes catering for all dietary requirements. Great friendly service from the moment we arrived. Super views looking out of the boats and estuary.

Yet again we went along looking forward to meals of Hake and Mussels to be told the list of ''things we haven't got tonight'' included both our favourites. Again. Along with the Chilean sauvignon. Bit of a New Year let down.

We visited the Chain Locker on Boxing Day to celebrate a family birthday. The food was superb. We had preselected our meals from the festive menu and were not disappointed. The service was excellent. The staff were friendly, polite, helpful and accommodating. The dining area upstairs is a hidden gem with fabulous views over Falmouth harbour. We will definitely be going back.

We love The Chain. It's always warm and friendly. Tonight was new year's eve and it was super busy and food was great for our group of four! The dessert was a bit slow because of how busy it was but they were aware before we could even say anything and knocked off two of the desserts from the bill! Then when we all left to allow them to move the tables around for music, there wasn't a table available for us so they threw some chairs together with a great view of the band and gave us a complimentary round of drinks in addition. The Chain Locker is fantastic and we had a wonderful night😁

Super relaxing Boxing Day lunch with family. The food was lovely and fresh, well presented and tasted good. Staff were polite and professional, we felt well looked after. Love the Xmas decor, made for a cosy, comfortable, unrushed lunch.

The Chain Locker upstairs dining area looked magical for our Christmas dinner. Beautiful tree ,garlands, candles and obviously the view over the water. The staff were fantastic! Genuinely helpful and friendly. Can’t complain about the Menu for Vegans, plenty of choices. The Christmas menu was great . The rolls and olive tapenade, starter and sorbet were delicious. The main was good but by preference we love a bit of red cabbage and a Yorkshire pudding which I know doesn’t traditionally come with a Turkey dinner! Just something I missed. The pudding was also delicious. Great traditional Christmas pudding and the Vegan dessert was creative and delicious. Our one issue was the kids menu. It was the same menu as the adults and for the kids aged 2, 3 and 8 not appealing to them. We would be happy to book in next year as a large family group but would hope for a simpler kids menu. Wow what a great meal - 9 adults for Christmas Eve celebration - the food was perfect (most delicious grilled Hake over crushed new potatoes 😋 and the mussels were the stars of the meal ) Staff were fantastic - so helpful, polite and nothing was too much.

I went with my friends for our Christmas dinner. We had the set Christmas menu. The atmosphere of the pub is amazing, the staff are kind too. The food was not great- I would not recommend. The starters were bland and small, tasted ready made frozen. The main meals again were dry (the pork), the vegetarian main roast came with a cold side of beetroot- it would be good in a salad, but not a roast… the deserts (sticky toffee pudding), was dry and tasted of fruit and ginger, no syrup at all. The normal pub food looked nice, maybe it’s just the roast. But, we would definitely go here for a night out/ drinks.

I went to the Chainlocker as part of a Christmas party and we were put into the Chainlocker’s private dining as there was a lot of us. The waiting staff were great and we were looked after very well and there was a great atmosphere. We were let down by the soup that was supposed to be celeriac and truffle and all you could taste was truffle and the turkey seemed to be chewy and fatty like it was under cooked. The desserts were lovely and we had a lovely evening just let down by the turkey

I would have complained sooner but for being strapped to the toilet all night. To start my complaint, we arrived. We ordered three nibble starters, two times olive and balsamic oil dip with bread and peppers stuffed with cream cheese. Mains we ordered a seafood platter, steak and ale pie, and a veggie burger which sounds quite easy to get right you would think but you would be wrong. The food is coming oh dear the sea food plater arrives hang on a minute, we ordered starters oh said the dimwit waiter and took it back. We ate the tiny portions. Ah the mains are coming oh dear its the same platter but their is a difference the breaded fish is now cold same as the scampi for forty quid you expect the platter to be perfect. Ok the platter was crap. So the pie must be top notch yes, no the pie was devoid of filling and the burger was overcooked. The only good thing was the chips!! To sum up, the staff were rubbish not trained enough. and the food, for what you pay was horrible. This pub should be off your places eat in avoid at all costs!!

We were a family group off a yacht and had decided to eat ashore. The Chain Locker provided great food and a welcoming ambiance.

Booked for 6.30 on Sunday evening assuming we could have roast dinner. Wrong. They stop doing roasts at some time in the afternoon. We booked on line and there is no mention of not doing roasts into the evening. My local St Austell in Yealmpton does roast dinners at this time. We had a vegetarian in the party and she was particularly looking forward to a nut roast. I can't comment on the food as we went elsewhere. On the plus side the staff at the pub are all lovely (we stayed there for 2 nights).

Every dish the five of our party picked from the menu was delicious. Two of the men had the gourmet burger, the other man had fish and chips. One of the ladies had steak pie and the other hake with spinach and new potatoes. The portions were generous. We all really enjoyed our meals. The staff were very friendly and courteous and there was a nice ambience in the restaurant. We stayed three nights in Falmouth and dined in three different restaurants. The Chain Locker was by far the best.

Great pub overlooking the harbour. Being November it was very quiet but the beer was great and my lunch of the Hake was delicious. I'd imagine it's very busy at weekends and peak summer. Definitely be going again next year.

I have been to this pub for many years and havent yet been disappointed, however, this evening I was extremely unimpressed with the quality of the food. The service was great, very efficient and friendly. I paid £18 for a 'westcountry beef topside, served pink', this is in the higher end of the price bracket for a sunday roast (of which I have tried many in the local area). The beef was minimal, tough, and by no means pink- very overdone. There wasnt a great deal of veg, which was boiled and bland. Roast potatoes were good at least! Also, the pub itself and views are great. Honesty, I would have been dissapointed if it had been a £14 meal, let alone £18.

I booked for 12 in the dog friendly part of the restaurant. Upon arrival, due to lack of space we were put on a table of 6 and 4 in the bar. I had to request an additional table as 10 seats won't sit 12 people. The barmaid was lovely and accommodating, she rectified this quickly. The food was amazing, arrived promptly and tasted fantastic, fresh, good portions and hot! Definitely reccomend the West Country Burger!!! The reason for the low stars was the man (I believe the manager) hovering over us as we finished our meal. He removed unfinished drinks from our table and stood watching us, while propped against the bar maybe 8ft away from us. He did not speak to us or express any issues, we were a family group ranging from newborn to 60 with 3 well behaved dogs, the children were being good and the adults were just catching up, The pub was also relatively empty as it was a Tuesday lunchtime, there were no people waiting to be sat and we weren't bothering anyone. I could understand if we were loud or rude, or even if it was busy but that isnt the case. We simply wanted to let our food go down and order pudding and coffees, however he clearly wanted to clear the table. According to the website groups over 5 are given 2.5 hours to dine. We were there an hour before the hovering began, sadly this made a large negative impact on our visit. Especially for my sister who after eating her wanted to feed her baby but ended up doing so in the car.

Lovely late stay at this lovely pub with rooms in the centre of Falmouth. Beautiful room with views over the water, very comfortable bed with luxurious bedding. Breakfast was cooked really well, plentiful and all the staff we came into contact with were friendly and professional. One tiny niggle, although Elemis toiletries are provided, this consisted of a tiny bar of soap and a dual shampoo and body wash bottle in the shower which needed to be pressed really hard to get the gel out. No body or hand lotion were provided which was a bit of a shame. But will definitely be returning again we loved it so much!!!

The upstairs dining room is really lovely, great view, great food and a really good atmosphere. The courtyard outside is a much livelier area targetted more at social drinks, but don't let that put off, once upstairs its a lovely restaurant.
