Chaiiwala in Leicester

I'm not much of a lunch person but I do occasionally get the nibbles half way through the day and Chaiiwala is perfect for this. This branch is based in city centre so it's useful when you want that quick tea fix or quick bite on the go. The cafe is small, possibly seats about 10 people inside and there's one or two tables outside too. Can be tricky for pushchairs and wheelchairs, unless it's a nice day and you opt to sit outside. There are plenty of carparks around the city centre but the closest one to Chaiiwala is on Dover Street which is literally a minutes walk away.

The vibe is good overall. I like the design and theme. Food is also good.

Food made me vomit shortly after having it.

I get Karak chaii here about once a week. Definitely recommend 😊

Really good karak chai and chocolate cookies. The kebab rolls are delicious and their desi breakfast is amazing.

I’m absolutely obsessed with the iced karak coffee I go nearly everyday and the environment is lovely, I’m always greeted politely by sannah, getting coffee at chaiwalla is always the highlight of my day.

Place has really gone down hill. Higher prices, lower quality

I never really try Chai at brands because they suck at it, how ever Chaiwala really has great great chai. We tried their Masala chai and Pink chai which I tried for the first time and it was good. ☕️ Follow for more such reviews @eat_with__s

Ordered pink tea but nothing like pink tea! Aloo paratha seemed to be the frozen shop bought. Omelette paid extra for chilli and cheese - one small piece of chilli seen Total let down and not worth the price!

I normally goto granby street chaiwala , love my Kharak coffee and roti , above all customer service on Friday evenings by the young girl amazing , outstanding , always welcoming with a smile and keeps you updated during busy times on your order . Well done Sana for great customer service also great coffee every time and roti . Your a true asset to the company

Had a lovely omelette wrap with cheese, tomato and chillis. Was perfect. Reminded me of Sri Lankan street food. Washed down with a classic karak chai. So heartwarming.

The number one chai spot! Food options are okay, they could be better. The place could also be cleaner, or regularly maintained so the tables are clean for the next customer. Otherwise, a go to for karak chai/coffee, indian style!

Travelled from Birmingham to Leicester for something and before heading back came to this place. Packed place so ordered a desi breakfast for me to take away and loaded chips for my son. He loved the loaded chips. When I got to the car I found I was given toast and not paratha which I asked for. Beans instead of daal that I asked for. Some sausages I didn't ask for and my omelette had chillis in it when I asked for just onion. Couldn't go back as had no time so had what I got. Not bad food but the order was so badly wrong. Wasn't what I asked for. Really disappointed with that after an hour driving. Just grateful I was able to have something as I was hungry.

The spot is great for a nice chai with some good and yummy options of food such as sandwiches, wraps or pasty’s. We especially loved the fact that they accept credit cards and got really great customized personalized suggestions by a wonderful lady named Nanina over there. 😊

I love chaiwala, I went today and ordered food, all the tables were dirty, even one of them had dirty cutlery on it, staff was rude, didn't answer me well, also they just went inside kitchen and start talking and after calling again , after some time staff showed up, really bad experience, very rude staff,

Tables are not clean, staff sit in the kitchen we called them several times and the lady was also rude while taking the order, menu was also not provided . Very poor service

Amazing selection of Food, drinks and snacks! As a fellow foodie, I strongly feel Chaiwala is a unique cafe with all day breakfast options which is excellent for all types of individuals. You can grab a warm delicious breakfast anytime of the day. Many of my colleagues, family and friends adore the Chaiwala brand. I appreciate the customer service from all chai Wala stores in Leicester especially Chaiwala Granby street as it’s been one of my main brekky spots since it opened years ago. Well done to management Muzzi and Ali and the hard workers Amara, Adeelah, sana, Amir, sureka and rest of the team. Chai Wala always employ friendly staff who greet you with a beautiful warm smile and serve us customers with respect and professionalism. GRANBY STREETS CHAI WALA’s customer service is hospitable. I have visited many Chaiiwala branches since its launch, some of them near my residence on regular basis. When the franchise was launched, it was unique idea which attained success and popularity, like McDonalds for Chai lovers. Sadly except their chai which is still good, most other menu items are victims of ready made, reheated food. I paid visit to this branch near the station during my recent visit to Leicester. I ordered Desi Breakfast with Karak tea and Pink Chaii cake later. The lady at till was really pleasant and friendly but thats it. When Omelette is the best item in your breakfast, it isn't a complement. Paratha was like those frozen grocery store reheated Parathas. Daal was worst, it tasted very chemical like something stored/frozen and re-heated. Chaii was good. I don't fancy Pink Chaii cake as Milk cake tastes better with sweeter milk, I just feel its bland with pink tea. I love Chaiiwala. Their success is love letter to Chai lovers. I just hope they return back to their original formula of fresh food rather than cutting corners and searching for shortcuts.

Chai is same as other chaiiwalas in Leicester but the Karachi bun kebab I had here is worst thing 🍔🤮

Unfortunately I’m not comfortable of going in this branch with my family. Very strange groups of people would sit there and stare at women. Not sure if any other family will go in this branch if not necessary. It has become a cafe of asylum seekers who stare at girls, women and even kids ! Horrible

Ordered a takeaway coffee and wrap, service was slow and staff were too busy talking between themselves to actually do any work. It's narrow and lack of seating area.

Worst customer service, charging extra money for empty cup. The till person refused to provide tiny cups as being a regular customer i haven’t received any regardless response. A shameful thingi.

Had chai today 17/9/2023 at 9.45pm . Chai was too thin , asked to guy in the till. He didn't response properly went inside. Worst customer service. Having chaiwala for 2year . Taste was worst on that day and the service too. 4.50pounds was wasted. Chaiwala should teach that guy how to deal with customers review. Nothing personal, that's why even didn't mention any colour or ethnicity. Time and date was mentioned, you can check CCTV footage for Confirmation. Thankyou

I ordered tea and donuts, and the tea tasted delicious, but the donuts did not taste good, and were oily and greasy

The usual most ordered cha is actually already made and given immediately when ordered. Thus it's not freshly made, and sometimes it's on the colder side. If someone orders chai latte or some less ordered ones, they freshly made it. Rest of the things are amazing.

If you’re hungry don’t go Here, I ordered masala chips and a passion fruit cheese cake. We were the only couple there. After 30 mins I asked how long does it take, her reply 2-3 mins as they are doing A deep clean it’s taking ages. But the staff at the back have time to come to the front and talk to their friends a laugh and a joke but they food that’s supposedly meant to take less then 5 mins was still gonna be another 2-3 minutes on Top of the 30 mins we had already waited. I asked for a refund I took my refund and went to get food from somewhere else.

Naina was very helpful and organised! Helped us pick the perfect breakfast option, holistic and soooo tasty! The chai delivers and I was transported to the streets of Mumbai.

Chilli Paneer was tasteless, and was stale. The Karachi Bun Kebab, didn’t taste anything like the real thing, it was an uncooked pati covered with an omelette which was warmed up. Pav Bhaji was edible, but yet again wasn’t fresh. All in all I would give Chaiwala 1 star, for the karak tea, coffee and the loaded chips which I enjoyed. All the other dishes were a waste of money. I would advise you to stick to what you’re good at like the hot drinks, and leave the food to proper chefs!

Very disappointed with the quality. Went yesterday with the family (assuming this review is for the fosse park one!) Reheated paneer - still have a stomach ache. Thanks for ruining our weekend!

During this crazy pandemic, my only highlight of a walk out into town has been to pick up a chaiwala. Today I went in and had the best surprise. They've got VEGAN options! YaY! (They're using oat milk) I had myself a vegan golden chai that they were trying out. What can I say the tumeric wasn't over powering, it was sweet and creamy too. I also ordered a chippy bitty which I wolfed down without a picture.! Definitely excited for their new menu items!

Super chai and snacks, limited seating, Poor service Jan2022: I have to revise my above review of 2 yrs ago as service this time was awful. Karak chai was good as always but service extremely poor. Front of house staff need urgent re training!! Our order was wrong, our bill was wrong. After waiting for 20 mins when our order hadn't arrived we went to the counter to enquire with the person who had taken our order.. and were told by him " have you ordered". When our mint white chocolate eventually came...it was without mint! We were promised it would be rectified. The new drink never came. We walked out. Very disappointed inspite of good karak chai. Please let poor service not let Chaiiwala loose its clients

WHERE DO I START!!! FIRSTLY I ORDERED MY FOOD THE TEA IS NICE THATS NOT THE ISSUE THE MASALA CHIPS WAS OK THE CHEESE SEEMED OLD AND HAD NO TASTE. ALL THE TABLES WAS DIRTY AND HAD FOOD AND EMTPY BOXES ONE OF THE BOXES HAD THIS BROWN SAUCE THAT NEARLY DROPPED BECause it wasn’t cleaned and would’ve stained my new clothes!!! I ASKED THE WORKER NICELY PLEASE CLESN THE TABLE AS I DIDNT FEEL COMFORTABLE EATING ON THE TABLE AS IT WAS DIRTY , HE TOOK AGES THEN FINALLY AND WAS CLEANING EMPTY TABLES WHERE NOBODY WAS Sat instead of mine while I was waiting for him to clean it so I could eat . So I asked and said clean this bit too please . The worker said “CALM DOWN FAM”. Very aggressively . The tone of his voice was like he was about to hit me if I said something. He was very very rude the way he said it and I felt like he was about to hit me by the tone of the voice . Then he cleaned my table and he was spraying it and purposely started spraying it so it goes on my food!!!! He done it on purpose I don’t know why as I asked him nicely and didn’t say anything . Maybe he don’t like his job and he can’t cope as they have many customers and seems like they are understaffed . VERY FUSTRATED !!

food and drinks are good - 7 or 8/10 But honestly hygiene and cleanliness is very poor. on a scale of 1-10 for cleanliness and hygiene i would give it a 3 or 4. food and waste are left around without being cleared up by staff or customers. The tables are not wiped either after use. they should make it mandatory all customers should either clear up after themselves, then staff clean the table. If not after customers have left, the staff should clean up. the vibe itself is nice, good-lighting and presentation. however the shop is very narrow and gets crowded and congested extremely quickly. i have been quite a few times now, alone and with friends, and orders do take quite a while to come, they do seem understaffed quite a lot of times. even if your going in for a simple coffee, if there are 2 people infront of you, their orders take so long to process, you could be waiting in a line for 10 mins for a coffee :p i do love the karrak coffee from here though, and the desi breakfast it very nice. food and drink vice i would definitely recommend. But in terms of customer service and hygiene/cleanliness there is a lot you guys can do to improve on . best wishes.

I ordered halwa puri today and puris were as hard as rock. Very very bad experience, they were full of oil. And why don’t you treat children with respect, they served wraps in news paper on the table , no serving plates.

Went on a Sunday with family, arrived at 10.10pm, got our drinks at 10.15pm - store is meant to close at 11pm. Waitress kicked us out at 10.30 saying she needs the place empty as they're closing. I queried this with her as the store front advertised 11pm. Waitress then advised that she needs to be out at 11. Me and family finished our tea outside. She turned away several other customers at around 10.35. If the store closes at 10.30 for service - don't advertise 11pm.

Service is excellent but the tea is not great. It's not authentic Indian tea and you can taste the condensed milk used which isn't an ingredient in authentic Indian tea.

I went in after trying to call for 30 minutes, to be met with disrespect when I asked to speak to a manager. Why place your number up if your going to pick up just to end the call constantly? Makes no sense. Would not recommend

For a restaurant who's name is chaiwala, it is a pity they cant brew a decent cuppa tea. What is served is a milky creamy over the top flavoured gunge with cinnamon and such like, sugared to give you diabetes. This is as far away from a typical cuppa in India or Pakistan, as a milkshake is to a lassi. Please dont mention the samosas deep fried from frozen and the mush they call " samosa chaat". Doesnt exist. Do yourself a favour and go to the many independent local sweet and savoury shops on Narborough Rd. for a decent tea, chaat and samosas. Had to come home and brew a decent cuppa with a cardamon to get the taste of chaiwala out of my system. Never again.

Cheap drinks, amazing flavour. Give me that vegan chaiiwala. Staff were very friendly. The shop had tables for customers to enjoy a drink (hot or cold). Will try more flavours next time. Till next time ...

Had the tea thinking it will be authentic masala chai however the tea was above average..it did have the aromatic masala's however I prefer it with hight fat milk which seem to be missing or probably it was just that cup

Chaiiwala in general isnt all that. Falooda is 0.1% noodles and basil seeds and 50% cream. But leicester doesnt have any real competitors like the chaiiwala in birmingham so they are able to make falooda as poor quality as this. Still the chaiiwala in birmingham is dead too. None the less its fairly cheap and has nice seating areas. Service was fast and the staff are nice. They do halal honours which is a bonus but I think its one day of the week. If there was other chaii shops as there are in birmingham, I would probably never go to chaiiwala again, but since leicester only really as this one in the city centre, its the only reason why I've come here. If people in leicester what the quality of karak chaii and other menu items were like at competing chaii shops in birmingham, I'm pretty sure they would only come here due to convenience too.

I went to chaiwala today for breakfast with my friends. Food was great. The two girls working there Adeela & Ammara deserve a shout out for their excellent customer service, their kindness, and extremely sweet & professional service. We had some minor issues based on our order but they went above & beyond to sort it out for us. Humility and professional service trump everything and both of them exhibited that remarkably so shout out to these awesome girls - chaiwala @granbyst they're def keepers :)

Very disappointed they have burnt my food and actually served it like this and asked for a kebab roll which they said was lamb but actually turned out to be chicken.

Guys spend your hard earned money elsewhere! Ordered Chai’s and once on the Motorway had a sip and they were watered down ruining the authentic chaiwala taste
