Chaiiwala in Newcastle upon Tyne

26 April we ordered Nutella wrap, Mango falooda and 2 scoops of icecream (Rose and Mango). The girl behind the till served us 'Rose and Vanilla', when I told her it was not my order she showed faces and responded rudely. I ignored and ordered two scoops of Mango again. She came back with 'Mango Falooda'. The Falooda was warm, we can feel the temperature by just holding it. I dont understand how she did not even notice that the drink was not cold and served it to us. It is obvious that she doesnt care about anything she just wanted to throw it on the table. This is not the first time that girl is behaving rudely with us. Usually we ignore it. But when I checked the reviews, many people have mentioned this about the girl. We really got upset with this level of customer service. Went back to the till and asked whether they serve the falooda hot or cold. He touched the falooda and immediately realised and appologized. Replaced 'Rose Falooda' instead as it mango flavor was not available. He appologized several times and offered large falooda instead of the regular we ordered and a water bottle. We insisted to pay for it, as I told him I want to raise a complaint to the management about the girl. But he refused accept money for the water bottle. I requested to meet the manager or the management to raise a complaint aginst the girl for her rude and unprofessional behaviour, but he mentioned no one is available. Hence I am forced to write this. I will be sharing this in all the social media platforms available and will reach out to the management. We have never experience such a rude and unprofessional behaviour from anyone in any restaurant except the girl in your restaurant.

As I walked into the cafe I was pleased with how clean and inviting the atmosphere was. I ordered a Desi breakfast, and I chose the masala omelette with daal and parathas, and it came with a Karak Chai. Both my food and the Chai were nice and hot and presented well. The food was full of flavour, and the Chai was sweet, spicy, and very creamy. The prices are sensible in my opinion, and the service was very friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back!

We ha e been here quite a few times and I would say we get nice indian breakfast and street food. Its one of the very few places available for Indian breakfast in Newcastle. We loved Aloo tikki burger, Karak chai and desi breakfast. Few items need imrovement like Pav bhaji and puri (comes as a part of various items).

If you're a fan of Masala Chai, Fenham has a number of cafes that whip up a lovely milk tea. Especially in this cold weather, a warm cuppa really feels good. ☕ Chaiiwala serves snacks and also a few variations of Chai. I had Pink Chai with almond. The almond bits surprised me; lovely small crunches accompanied with pink froth. Jeffri Ramli had the standard chai. Delicious. As some say, Chai is life 😆

Excellent tasty menu, very competitively priced and staff v helpful. Have been to the restaurant a few times in last 2 months and all experiences positive. (Only point was that some dishes were too chilli hot but the next time we asked for this to be adjusted and this was not an issue, proving customised approach). Well done!!

Very very slow service and feels like they don’t care about customer anymore, hopefully will not visit this place

Puzzled by the negative reviews as I personally thought the food was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. I wasn't keen on the Karak Coffee which was far too sweet, though couldn't fault the Desi breakfast, which was delicious. The masala chips were good too.

I ordered the loaded fries. What I got was soggy fries drenched in sauce. The chicken tikka pieces must have been old as they tasted chewy and dry. The food served did not resemble anything like the image they have on their website. This was the first and last time I will be going there. Disgusting!

popped in to have tea and coffee waited service at counter for a while. ordered 2 chai latte tea was luke warm doesn’t anyone check the temperature of what they are serving ? disappointed at the first visit to a chai wala. nice taste though but luke warm not good !

Would give this zero rating if i could! Cold tasteless food disgusting customer service! Tea tastes like its been there for days. Do not go here!

I’m so glad I discovered this place. The karak coffee is sweet & nutty which I personally love. Staff are always friendly and quick service.

I go there frequently and quality is always good, service is prompt and polite always. The food is slightly smaller but what do you expect for the price it’s so cheap for the quality you’re getting, in fact perfect snack size food- if you’re hungry order double portion. The menu is just the right size offering variety without potentially exhausting/slowing the kitchen during busy times. I love it.

The karak tea and chai latte Absolutely disgusting. Every time I have been its been different and tastes horrible. Food doesn’t taste great either don’t recommend.

strictly ok menu choices very limited and quantity small. tea was extremely sweet. wraps are quite small. may visit again for the.coffee which was good.

Good place to handout for a simple breakfast or a quick evening snacks. Always buzzing and active place. Have tried their pink chai, Karak chai, bun omlette and omlette roll. You can taste a proper Indian masala chai(Karak) here. Definitely worth visiting

Amazing authentic chaii, had karak chai and cinnamon chai, both great. I will recommend the sugar free version to people not used to sugar in tea, as kadak chai has sugar in it. Very helpful staff, still managed to get orders quickly despite being packed...
