We popped into this beautiful retro styled restaurant for some quick dessert and chai as it was my husband's birthday. It was quite late when we got there, and their popular Rose & Cardomom Milk cake had unfortunately run out. Nevertheless, the owner insisted that he will get his wife to bake one pronto whilst we played some carrom. As promised we got served this delicious cake warm and yummy straight out of the oven, soaked in milk. A wonderful way to end my husband's birthday that evening. Beautiful atmosphere and such wonderful, hospitable and friendly owners. This place is too underrated in my opinion! I would highly recommend you visit Chaii & Spice if ever you're in that area to chill and play carrom over chai and dessert or savoury Asian food.

The Masala Chai I had today, omg, it was so good that I regret buying a Regular one instead of a Large cup. The Masala Chai was so affordable and most of the food & beverage were affordable. The place seems so cozy and beautiful. I would defo come back again when I come to England. Love from Mauritius xx

This is the second time I’ve been and the first time was about two years ago. The service was haphazard but I gave the benefit of the doubt given they’d just opened and it was packed. I returned today with my family and the service hasn’t improved - in face it was worse - as there were no customers expect us. We went at about midday on a Saturday, which you’d expect them to be prepared for, given it’s a weekend. They didn’t have most things on their menu. We then had to wait 30 mins for our food that came out in drips and drabs. When we complained, the female owner started arguing with us. It just isn’t acceptable. I don’t normally take the effort to write a bad review, but I feel compelled to do so today - because they make you pay for your food upfront so you can’t even walk out! Given such difficult Financial times for most people, I would steer completely clear of this place. Good was greasy. Timing completely out. Customer service very poor. There are better places to spend your hard earned cash in the area. They shouldn’t be running a business if they don’t know how to keep stock or speak to customers.

Wow wow wow. Unfortunately I cannot get my mum's amazing masala chai anymore however this place doesn't do a bad job. Their tea is so so good and what makes it even better are the amazing staff. Absolutely love this place wish it was closer!

Its closed. Thank heavens. Dirty place. Oily food. Hideous. Had a photo of Princess Diana in the window so as to lure in punters. In the photo Diana is running away from this place.

We visited the Gunpowder Restaurant on Greek Street in Soho as part of their India Club monthly dining experience. The 6 course menu showcased Hyderabad cuisine. The Kid Goat Keema Lukhmi was excellent along with the Chicken 65, and the Kakori Mutton Seekh and the Sofiyani Dum Biryani with grilled Mirchi ka Salan. Excellent food and excellent value.

I had an incredible dining experience at Royal India in Covent Garden. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully authentic atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, making excellent recommendations tailored to our tastes. The food was truly exceptional—each dish was rich, flavorful, and expertly spiced, capturing the true essence of Indian cuisine. The butter chicken was silky and packed with flavor, while the biryani was aromatic and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, Royal India is a must-visit. This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in London, and I can’t wait to return!

The idea is interesting, small plates but interesting and very well cooked. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable which is a very big plus. We've been a couple of times and will go again.

Average given the price. Nothing particularly bad, but given the price the food quality was about average and nothing really stood out as wow, as you would hope for somewhere charging £50/head. On the face of it the decor looks ornate and impressive, but actually when you looked closer the wood panelling looked tired, and in places may have had black mould on the edges of the mouldings. The atmosphere was also somehow cold and lacking warmth and class — it is possible this was due to a poor choice of lighting, mostly overhead and cold in temperature, and not enough side lighting and of a warmer colour temperature. It was also actually cold! It is not clear why the air conditioning would be on and set to such a low temperature in October. It was too cold for my 74 year old mother, but eventually they did provide a small space heater, which greatly improved things. The staff were friendly and helpful — i.e. with the space heater —and the manager honoured the price I was quoted online, which disagreed with the price in the menu in the restaurant.
