I recently dined at Ceylon Restaurant and had an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a memorable meal. The menu is a fantastic showcase of authentic Sri Lankan flavors, with a variety of options to suit every palate. I particularly enjoyed the Sri Lankan MUTTON KOTHU perfectly spiced and bursting with flavor. IDLI & SAMBAR was quite authentic , tasty and portions were quite generous. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was spot on. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every need was met, Their recommendations were spot-on, which added a unique touch to the meal. Overall, Ceylon Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the rich and vibrant tastes of Sri Lankan cuisine. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

Lovely food and excellent customer service We went to my mum's 80th and had a lovely time. Crispy dosa is my favourite, and they made it fresh on request. I love to go back

It was a good experience for me. I ordered one portion chicken biryani, quantity and taste of the was really good. I love the atmosphere.

Go there quite often, food is good but I do find some of it very spicy - almost like raw spice flavour coming through, e.g. the lamb curry and the chicken curry - but that's the Ceylon style of cooking. Recommend the egg hopper - simple but tasty, devil mutton and the fried rice. Service is very good with the staff engaging with their customers. Good value food/drinks.

It was my first time trying Sri Lankan food, and I went with my white partner. They just assumed that we both couldn't handle the spice and reduced the spice level without asking us, which is wrong! The food that we wanted was not available, but what we did manage to order was actually tasty. My only concern was that the waitress could not understand what I meant by me being lactose intolerant, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable when choosing the food. Please educate your staff on important matters such as food allergens and intolerance and the difference between the two. In the end, the waitress gave us some dessert as an apology for everything that happened, and the dessert contained milk (I'm severely lactose intolerant). I recommend the food but not if you have an intolerance or allergy.

I really loved the ambience and staff was amazing, friendly and humble. Food was damn tasty, cheers to chef and special thanks to manager helped us with menu and asking us if we are alright or need any thing else.

I ordered egg apam with fish curry and sea food kothu through ubereats. I got a call from restaurant stating that sea food kothu isn’t available and offering less expensive options for same price . When I stated the staff cancel the item they said we just found sea kothu but when I received my order it was plain kothu noting sea food . This restaurant is cheating people. Please be aware of scam.!!!

One of the best Srilankan / South Indian restaurant in Ilford. We were a group.of 20 people who were here to celebrate a birthday party. The whole team was pleased with both food and the service.

Used the catering service and the food was amazing. Ordered the mutton rolls and fish patties and both were very tasty and flavourful. Will now be my go to Sri Lankan restaurant from now on!

Yesterday We visited at the closing time but Gurpreet welcome us & offer a great hospitality . Dosa was so delicious felt like i am eating in South India. Overall a Very good visit. Must Plan your outing to the restaraunt

Awesome and nice ambience and good restaurant with food tasty

The first time at this place and trying out dosa and I was not disappointed. The waitress was attentive and helpful. Can't really share my thoughts on the atmosphere as we was the only ones eating inside the restaurant, but that's not to say it doesn't get busy!

Half portions and switched off the stampcards before I could use mine, generic reviews, not recommended

I especially asked in the notes to make the rice less spicy and it’s spicer than ever!! It was suppose to be for a child. I had to make extra food for her at home. This is the second time this has happened!! Really bad! I’m afraid I won’t be ordering again. It’s pathetic that notes are not read. What’s the point of notes?

The food was excellent and service very good throughout. We held a birthday party at the venue and the restaurant were very accommodating of our needs. The food had excellent reviews from all the guests- special mention was the kottu, lamb curry and fried rice! Wood highly recommend! Thank you!

The Jalfrezi Chicken and Cheese kottu had no cheese at all. Food was so bland and arrived more than an hour late. So dissatisfied.

Well lit up place with some decent food. I really enjoyed my chicken kothu. The mutton kothu which my brother in law ordered was nice too, and tandoori chicken was amazing. My sister had mixed reviews about the masala dosa, the filling lacked flavour. Starters were all really nice. Didn’t get a chance to try the crab fry which I was told was the best dish at the restaurant. I did have to wait a while for my cocktail to arrive which I wasn’t impressed about but the mojito was nice. We had kids at the restaurant, felt like staff could have done better with bringing out their food first as requested. Despite some of the negative feedback, staff were very friendly and overall food was good and I’d recommend.

I recently ordered the Chicken Kothu and Chicken 65 from this restaurant, and my experience was extremely disappointing. Firstly, the portion sizes were incredibly small, making the meal feel overpriced for what was provided. More disturbingly, the Chicken Kothu was made with fish gravy. This is completely unacceptable and quite frankly, disgusting. Who uses fish gravy for Chicken Kothu? It ruined the dish entirely. Additionally, the packaging was poor, which only added to the overall negative experience. I would not recommend ordering from here.

Salty fish fry. Chicken Biriyani is no where close to biriyani no taste at all (more apt name would be pulav). Highly disappointed

We were recommended this restaurant but unfortunately I don't think it's worth the trip to seven kings. The starters and drinks were good however their biryani was too greasy and their crab curry could have had more meat. Also their hoppers is not made well.

I have ordered dhall vada a few times but the last two times, it was terrible. it had no salt or spice. in fact it was so bland and hard it could have been cardboard. I will not be ordering anything from them again. A waste of money.

Wonderful customer service, quiet atmosphere. Family friendly and lovely food. We had some dosas, fried rice, a couple of fish curries and some mutton devil starter. All in all with a lassie came to £61. And their portions were huge. Had to take the rest to go. I'd advise going for dinner after 6.30pm you'll stand a better chance of finding suitable parking.

Really good value for money. I was pleasantly surprised by good quality food. I had soft iddlis and sevaiyan and later on Thali meal in the afternoon. Quantity and quality both great. To top it all the service provided by the lovely lady was nice. She was always smiling and the staff were polite to help me out. Ceylon Street is one of the best restaurants in town. Their portion sizes are generous, which is a pleasant surprise compared to other places where portions are often disappointing. I usually find that one pack of their biriyani lasts for two meals, reminiscent of the hearty portions you get at Indian restaurants. The taste is consistently good as well. However, during my last order, the biriyani was a bit dry, the taste was decent, but it was different from their usual one. So, this time, I added a note asking for more masala. To my delight, they responded wonderfully and delivered a hot biriyani with extra masala, just as I requested. It was delicious and made my day! I’ve never had the chance to visit the restaurant in person, as I always order in. But after such a lovely experience, I can't wait to come by soon and enjoy the service firsthand. Making customers happy is truly the best part of running a restaurant, and Ceylon Street excels at this. Thank you for taking care of my special request. I appreciate your kindness and dedication. Biriyani was really bad, oily and favourless. They forgot raita and salan. NOT RECOMEND

Excellent service. Food was good 👍 Katori/Tokari chaat... Really good. A definite/highly recommend must try starter. Veechu roti and Coconut pol rotis... Spot on !!! Soft and can be eaten on its own. Jaffna Mutton curry: spicy 🔥 Mutton kottu... Really good. A bit spicy 🔥 so Watch out for the chillies if you can't handle heat. Sufficient Mutton pieces.. well cooked yet nice and soft. Paneer and vegetable kottu... Really nice. Spicy level wise: not very spicy compared to mutton kottu. Mango lassi... So good 👍. Beautifully compliments the food especially if you are ordering something spicy. When ordering, I highly recommend going for a jug of lassi. Can be shared with 4 people. Dessert is on the house if it's your birthday. Recommend to Call ahead and let them know. We had fresh and warm gajar halwa and watalappam (Sri Lankan Coconut custard). Melt in your mouth goodness 🤤. When ordering, Please let the staff know your food tolerance including spice levels. All in all... A very good dining experience.

I booked this restaurant on 20 april for mu reception party but i am not happy from there service. Service was not according to the deal that we done before party and they didn’t give their 100% @ food was not according to the plan. Tmmings are also not good of serveing the food.

I ordered mutton devil and chicken devils, hardly we couldn’t find any meat in it mainly onions and peppers only , maybe we need to call onions devils, food taste is good but quantity of food is very less .
