Given that the food within Country Market itself – the butcher, the cheese counter and the vegetables are all wonderful this could have been fabulous - However, apparently this cafe has nothing to do with country market at all. My salad (at over £7) was iceberg lettuce, 2 tasteless tomato's chopped into quarters, and about eight slices of cucumber. And the chicken was extraordinary! It had been cut into square sided wedges like chips and had clearly been cooked and then frozen. It was very cold, watery and the first couple of pieces tasted a bit like fish. Suffice it to say that I left the majority of the quite generous portion. When I ordered I was offered by the wonderful staff to have either mayonnaise or have it as coronation chicken – I suspect that was to hide the reality of the meat (if you can call it that) itself. They have no salad dressing. You can only have mayonnaise or salad cream – unless you want to put the malt vinegar they use for the chips on your salad. Olive oil does not exist and apparently they only use vegetable oil in the kitchen The redeeming feature was the coleslaw which was absolutely lovely – as were the staff. The cakes looked great and the people in there seemed quite happy with their coffee. They don't actually have a salad on the menu so I suspect they normally put the chicken in a baked potato or a sandwich but for those people who can't eat grains a salad was the only option. I was grateful that they made it for me however I think cheese might have been a safer bet! I was so stunned by how truly terrible it was that I didn't even manage to take a photograph – very remiss or you would've seen the state of the chicken! I was sorely disappointed – it was one of the worst meals I've ever eaten. I would've done better to have gone into the shop and bought an avocado, a couple of tomatoes and a piece of cheese! I know for next time!!

Visited today as we were passing, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. We ordered 2 x burgers and a kids meal, the kids meal looked as if it had just been reheated, the burgers where swimming in fat, 1 of the burgers was particularly bad, the plate was full of fat when the burger was lifted up, the chips were not cooked all the way through and the onions rings where not cooked at all on one side. The milkshake and the hot chocolate where great though. They also have a carte dor ice cream bar which looked great.

This is second time we have been only really to give it a second chance . We first went in the week it opened . Food was awful , barely any ingredients in the panini and stone cold . Not the yummy experience I anticipated when opening anew venture on the positive side the staff and owner were pleasant , I told her if she wants people to come back she needs to up her game as it’s word of mouth that brings customers . We thought we would try it again . This time the rolls were filled with more ingredients , plenty of side salad but for £8.95 for a baguette I would expect so , however they only have white baguettes never have brown as told by staff, also the baguette was stale , like uncooked long life pre baked baguette. The food was edible but evidence of cheap ingredients without taste . When looking in the ice cream parlour I actually felt nauseated . Most of the ice cream containers were half empty making the appearance of the ice cream look undesirable and dirty . Surely the ice cream should be removed from the containers , then cleaned to look presentable. On the plus side the cakes looked good and edible and the tea and Latte drinkable .

Had a great lunch for three of us yesterday. The steak I had was really good for a pub offering and the others liked their fish and chips and burger. The service was excellent (well done Dillon) and we will go back again.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. They don't seem to know what they are doing. I booked a double room with breakfast back in Feb 24 for the 15th June 2024. Unfortunately I had to cancel this and rebook for another date. Luckily I kept all correspondence relating to this because they called me on the 15th June to ask what time I was checking in. They didn't believe I had cancelled and said I would be charged. I sent them the confirmation twice before they agreed to not charge me. No apology though! I then got an email to say they were also cancelling my July booking because the price has increased and they wanted me to rebook at the higher price. I told them to shove it, there is a Premier inn down the road that was cheaper and way easier to book. Awful place.

No longer a pub - it was closed down months ago and has been undergoing a lot of construction work. There is local talk of it having been purchased some type of medical conglomerate.

Popped in for a drink and fast friendly service and lovely and warm inside! Was staying at the other end of the town so didn't need food! Other family near us got food and seemed really content! Lovely place to visit very spacious and clean 👌 will pop in next time in the area 😀

We went for one of the midweek roast events and what a disappointment it was. There was a very lukewarm welcome when we arrived and we were directed to the table with a point of the finger. The food was served quickly and just plonked in front of us. There was no asking what we’d pre-ordered so two of us got the wrong meals. This was rectified when we told them. It was hot but was very mediocre. I think my lamb died of old age. I couldn’t cut it, it was that tough. The potatoes were OK, the peas were peas that had once been frozen, carrots overcooked, the gravy was like water, the parsnips were OK and the saving grace was the cheese sauce on the cauliflower/brocolli. The Apple crumble was nice but again just plonked in front of us. The custard was lumpy. How much was all of this? It was a whopping £25 a head without so much as a jug of water on the table. It was daylight robbery. We wont be back.
