We went with a travelzoo voucher, had 2 three course meals and a glass of Champagne each for £98. The food was amazing and the chef came and talked to us. The head waiter was attentive and had a good sense of humour. We chose the cheapest wine on the menu (£65 for a bottle)! So we weren’t popular with the sommelier! It was one of the best meals I’ve had in London - very good value for money. Great experience under massive chandeliers!

Sorry this review is late but this has, excuse the pun, eaten at me since I took my wife on our anniversary on 1st January 2023 when this restaurant was names Celeste, I understand is is now rebranded following the loss of their star but I want to get this off my chest. We book a couple of months in advance with the hotel as we are both vegan and were assured they catered very well for vegans. So on January the 1st we turned up and took our place in the lavish dining room and when we informed the waiter we were vegan he did not disguise his look of horror and went off to see the chef. He came back and said the chef was deciding what he could cook, I explained we arranged this well in advance but he informed us there were no notes made against our booking. Anyway the very talented chef managed to rustle up a salad starter, a very stodgy risotto the offered a rice pudding desert! More Little Chef than fine dining. The only positive note was the sommelier who suggested an wonderful organic champagne. So anyway the most disappointing anniversary and £450 for the worst meal I have ever had in, supposedly, one of the finest hotels in London. Moan over, back to Alaine Ducasse who knows a thing or two about vegan diners!

We dined early on a Thursday and The Grill wasn’t busy, indeed it looked like the staff outnumbered guests for most of the evening. So we were well served in quantity, although it wasn’t perfectly polished and our food could have been warmer when it reached us. Orkney scallops were excellent with tasty accompaniments. Dover sole was a little overcooked and Cornish Turbot wasn’t the freshest. White peach Eton Mess would have been better with more than a few slivers of peach. All this, and the wine, was too expensive to be good value. Based on this dinner experience it’s surprising that The Grill is in the top three percent of London restaurants. Perhaps it’s the much less expensive three-course set lunch that’s best, or the afternoon tea. We had been shown to our table in the stylish room under the chandeliers and the canopy roof and handed what was claimed to be “our fantastic A La Carte menu” with the hope that we “would have a fantastic evening”. Better than Good but not Fantastic.

As you enter the dining room it had a distinct aroma like Frankincense and myrrh - I don't really know what it was, but it was interesting. The dining room which is sunken in the centre and raised along the sides is nicely decorated with a glass ceiling. The waiters are very quiet that you can barely hear them, however the head waitress, Georgia, had a strong loud accent which was harder to understand. Interesting show of opulent inefficiency with 4 waiters and 1 waitress bringing a table of six their entrées. The waitress seemed to be Spanish with absolutely no character, somewhat abrupt and totally not worth the cost of admission. For the Festive set menu, I ordered for as a starter the Westcombe Cheddar and Roscoff onion tartlet, celery, pickled walnut, hollandaise which was interestingly nice. Then the main entrée, lacking of any taste Norfolk turkey Wellington, with caramelized parsnip, sprout leaves, madeira and truffle which in total was uninspiring... the sprouts were tough, bland swede mash, and parsnip slices with a burnt red wine sauce. The 3rd and final course - I selected the Lanesborough Christmas pudding and ice cream which although quite small was quite nice. So unto the most annoying part as I sat there trying to get the waitress Georgia to bring the check yet she ignored me and then went to 2 other tables with their checks I waited over 15 mins... finally I went to the waitress station to get her attention while she was chatting to her wait staff. So was this worth £55 for a Festive dinner; certainly cheaper than some but with a bland main entrée I would pass on even if the head waitress were to be more diligent and attentive.

Not our first trip to the Lanesborough Grill and hopefully not our last. It's my daughter and I's favourite lunch in London! From the welcome at the door to the serving staff, and from the wine/cocktail menu to the food - it's all just very lovely! My gluten intolerance is always catered for (both in the grill and in the Library bar). Executive chef Shay Cooper is an absolute genius, everything we ate was sublime - especially the Isle of White Tomato starter! The staff in the Library Bar are darlings and our cocktails were delicious. We will hopefully return soon!

Located in the Lanesborough on the ground floor, beautiful interior. The 3 course meal is now More select with only two items on each course as to three previously. The heritage tomatoes was good as was the terrine . The beef’s cheeks was average- a fatty cut but the sauce salvaged it. The chocolate with mint desert was below average. The millefieulle with caramel was very nice. Service was excellent but food was not at their usual level.

We used a voucher given as a Christmas present on my wife's birthday. The whole experience was simply amazing. My wife had an operation on a broken wrist a few days before our visit and was in a cast. So, at the time things were a bit tricky, she needed a lot of help. The staff were so accommodating and helpful to us both throughout our visit. Even directing us to a bathroom where I could assist her. The food and the service was simply amazing. My wife was given a birthday to remember despite her injury. Top class.

We had lunch at The Lanesborough under their offer of a fixed price meal, a present from our son for Christmas. The meal and staff were wonderful and efficient. However what led to the lower grade review was when my husband decided to order the Cheese platter for an extra £12. Well that was a joke and really quite insulting. Got more when we flew on BA two days later.. and that was included in our fare! I would also warn people that you will also automatically have to pay a service charge on the whole meal. Not a problem for us however just remember that when you come to budget for lunch.

Yesterday I experienced the Queen Charlotte afternoon tea at The Lanesborough in London. This was created in partnership with Netflix and Shondaland. The limited-edition menu pays homage to the Regency era; a time of great revelling and high style, of elegant parties, balls, and grand dinners, all with a contemporary twist. Establishment and Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Lanesborough’s has a richly decorated dining room, naturally illuminated during the day by a domed glass roof. Such a beautiful elegant room. There was no pianist or any music, so you could easily hear your other companions. Level of Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unfortunately I just wasn’t impressed by the level of service we received. I have given it a 3 for average but for this level of establishment it was quite poor. The attention to detail certainly wasn’t there, I had to look around and wait to find a server near by to get tea replenishments etc. The one positive was we certainly didn’t feel rushed! Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The sandwiches were most enjoyable, and again I liked the different varieties of bread. As we didn’t have the salmon we were asked which additional sandwich we would like. The scones I thought were doughy, I really didn’t like the texture. The jam although quite plentiful just ran straight off the spoon. The petite fours were a no for me. I completely disliked that one was to share. I am one of those people who never likes to share food and I really found this to be in very poor taste to have to deal with at afternoon tea when out with friends. The petite fours whilst pretty to look at, were just too much mess and fluff. Tea and Tea Ware ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Being in such a fabulous Georgian dining room plain white cups, saucers and plates seemed a little boring, but I really liked the silver teapots, milk jugs and sugar bowls. Value for money ⭐️⭐️ This afternoon tea was priced at just £80. In my honest opinion, spend the extra £5 and take afternoon tea at the Ritz, that extra £5 gets you a whole different experience. I honestly felt like I was paying for the association with Bridgerton. I’m pleased I experienced this afternoon tea, but I wouldn’t return and so far it was my least favorite on this trip Overall Score ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #AfternoonteareviewsbyLindsey

We had a Sunday roast at the grill. 3 adults and a child. We had an overall nice experience. We really like the room, and the atmosphere. I just wanted to share something that we found quite ridiculous. It is not suppose to be a cheap place. At almost 700 gbp for 3 adults and a kid with 3 glasses of wines for a roast. That was expected so that is ok. But when my wife got the cheese trolley (which is already at a supplement), she was told she could only pick 3 pieces of cheese. Come on, that is cheap stuff and completely ruin the cheese trolley idea. Are you in such a dire financial situation that every piece of cheese counts? An idea for you: Ask the guests to give you their pocket change at the exit, maybe you will be able to finance the next cheese platter … When we asked for more gravy, the waiter answered a concerned “I will go and check…”. We got our gravy but you should not make it as it is such a special ask. You should do better on those points. That all sounds quite ridiculous …

I had a virgin experience voucher for 3 course dinner.for my birthday. We walked through the lovely Hyde park flower gardens and had cocktails in the library bar first - they were excellent in cosy drawing room with unlimited snacks. 5 stars for those. We chose the lilibet and the one with blackcurrant powder. Yum. There were drinks on the menu costing £6,500 so order carefully! We moved to the grill and the food was great, especially my rhubarb dessert. I gave it 4* though as we are lucky to eat in lots of posh restaurants and a couple of the elements weren’t perfect- the pine nut purée and the poached blackberries. We added on the £45 wine flight which the sommelier chose well. Staff were very friendly and the location sumptuous; lush carpets, fresh flowers everywhere, fires. Very fancy.

Service and setting excellent. Set menu leaves a lot to be desired. The main consisted of a chicken breast with a single wilted leaf. No proper vegetable to have a mouthful of. No carb either. Deserts were average. I have been before and had the Sunday menu and that was fantastic. Set menu disappointing though. Very mean and stingy to not include even any vegetable. Having said that, the chicken was done well.

My wife and I had delicious festive lunch. The ambience was refined yet relaxed. The service was excellent. The only very minor blemish on proceedings was the staff were slightly too solicitous. Over the course of our 3 courses we must have been asked if the food was Ok a dozen times. Once per course you would expect but it became a little intrusive after a while. We even had one of the courses explained to us twice in quick succession. As I said a minor blemish on an otherwise lovely experience that we would highly recommend but worth flagging nonetheless.

Just returned from an unforgettable evening at the Lanesborough Grill. Everything was faultless; the greeting at the door, the welcome into the restaurant- the warmth and courtesy of the staff is the best I have experienced in London. My boyfriend and I had only booked the previous evening but the staff were so beautifully accommodating and kind. This was a very belated birthday present and Andrea and Zilbe (without any obligation!) went out of their way to make me feel so special. I left the Lanesborough a bit teary- eyed at how wonderful our time had been and how kind the people are here. This goes beyond simply good staff- this is good people to their very core at their very best. Paul at the cloakroom was so wonderful and introduced us to the hotel’s gorgeous resident cat Lilibet, who around this time of year enjoys living under the Christmas tree! We will undoubtedly be back- it felt like home away from home. I just cannot express how moving our experience was tonight, mostly thanks to the wonderful team that looked after us. Andrea, Zilbe, Paul and others. Thank you so much. We are just so looking forward to returning very soon.

From the moment I walked through the portals of this beautiful hotel I was made to feel welcome. The doorman ushered me in and escorted me along a sumptuously decorated corridor to the Grill and left me in the care of two lovely ladies who took my coat and showed me to the table reserved by my fellow diner. The impression was of entering a light and spacious drawing room with elegant tables and chairs and comfortable cushions. A pianist played softly in the background. The atmosphere was one of relaxed enjoyment. The staff all seemed so pleased to see us. We chose from the luncheon menu and the wine waiter explained the flight of wines to accompany each course. We commenced with an excellent glass of champagne and slices of bread , warm from the oven and delicious, while we studied the menu. We both chose the Jerusalem artichoke first course, followed by slow cooked shoulder of lamb for me and a gnocchi and mushroom dish for my friend. But that is only half the story. In between each course throughout the meal , delicious and innovative amuses bouches arrived accompanied by our choice of selected wines. The Sauvignon blanc from Touraine was, I think, the best I have tasted. The staff were attentive throughout and we were able to discuss the food which is always such a pleasure. It was a long, leisurely meal in wonderful surroundings and we left determined to return.

I booked the Queen Charlotte afternoon for my daughter's birthday as I wanted to treat her to something special, but it wasn't great. initially we had a very nice welcome, but we were given in my opinion the smallest table in the room and the service was slow. When all our table was set and the food and drink was served (sandwiches, desserts, scones, tea cocktails and water along with plates, cup & saucers, plates and cutlery) there was absolutely no room to even move anything and I couldn't even see my daughter during the tea as the cake stand was in the way so I we had to keep moving our head to the side to chat. It was our first time to the Lansborough and the experience was not great. The signature cocktail was very nice and the desserts were good, however the sandwiches were only just average. The dining room is charming. Food was nicely presented on the tiered cake stand, decorated with plastic leaves and oranges. I am more than happy to pay the price for a great afternoon tea, but I do expect an excellent experience all round to match the price. Overall, this was an underwhelming experience, I have been to far better afternoon teas in London.

I was taken here for a surprise treat by family and friends to celebrate my retirement. As one of the most luxurious hotels in London, you might expect to be intimidated by a visit to The Lanesborough. This was certainly not the case, starting with the wonderfully friendly doorman who offered to dispose of the empty cans of G&T that my family had been consuming in the taxi. Without exception, all the staff we encountered were smilingly personable and efficient. The Grill itself is in an elegant space with tables nicely spaced. My family had arranged for a bespoke menu with chef Shay Cooper, with the only stipulation being that it had to include his celebrated Beef Wellington - an appropriate choice considering the hotel's location near to the Duke of Wellington's former home. What followed was a succession of delicious and inventive dishes, beginning with the most amazing bread. I could happily have eaten much more of this had I not seen what was to come. There were courses of crab and lobster, neither of which I would normally consider eating - my mistake - they were both delicious. Risotto managed to be simultaneously unctuous and crispy, an interesting combination. The Beef Wellington was literally 'melt in the mouth', the only complaint being that several (all) of us would have liked second portions. A different take on millionaire shortbread concluded a fantastic menu. The evening finished with coffees, digestifs, petit-fours and a chat with Chef Cooper. I should add that all of the 'front of house' team complemented Cooper's menu with their warm, informative and efficient service. It was really a 'night to remember'. My only thought after this was to consider going back to work in the hope of a second retirement dinner at The Lanesborough. My thanks to everyone at the hotel who made the night such a wonderful experience.

Poor before we had even eaten. Taking my Mum to enjoy Beef Wellington, her favourite dish, I phoned ahead a few times to ensure one was available. Just before I arrived at the restaurant, they confirmed it was available. We sat down in an empty restaurant, rather inefficient staff. We were told there was no Beef Wellington, so I pointed out that one was put by. Then we were told they could make one, and it would take 40 mins, to which we said would that be 40 minutes or could it be longer ? On visiting the toilet I heard the chef say ‘if they wanted one, it might take 45 minutes’. Nobody wants to be considered a nuisance in a restaurant, so we decided to take our custom elsewhere. Having travelled all the way from Hampstead to enjoy Beef Wellington, my Mum’s favourite dish, we left & ate elsewhere. Sadly not beef Wellington.

Refined, elegant food in a classy dining room. Classic French techniques and flavours, with friendly, formal service. The lunch menu is very gold value at £125 for three courses, plus bread and various bites. The butter was extraordinary!
