Cegin in Gwynedd

Possibly the worst cafe i’ve ever been to. Absolutely terrible food and even worse service, i genuinely don’t know what they get paid for.

Staff very helpful and went off menu for my picky eater. Bagel was delicious. Quiet, nice view and artsy decor.

The salmon bagel was alright, but underwhelming, not too much flavour. The salad was terrible, just lots of dry rocket with a huge chunk of red cabbage, a trace amount of any other veggies, and just one tiny squirt of dressing. Unfortunately, the manager was walking around asking people where did they get their drinks and food and telling them they're not allowed to eat and drink stuff they didn't buy here. This creates a very unpleasant atmosphere in the cafe, won't be going there again. I understand some people want to just sit around not eating anything and they're taking up space, but if people sit in groups and only some of them order, the additional people will be taking up the space anyway, why not let them eat with friends? What if they're allergic? The rest of the staff is always lovely though.

Service is good, food is reasonable price but the older lady that works there was very rude to me and other customers. Other than that it's a really nice place

great food, fresh and clean! We got a quick bite to eat before seeing a movie, due to a function their menu was limited but what we did have (flat bread pizzas) was excellent. Great service too - highly recommend.

The reason for eating here was based on previous reviews as a good place for breakfast with lovely comments and pictures of croissants and pastries but unfortunately there were none and no hot food available until cook arrived at 10. We were there at 9 for breakfast before the open day. I had a slice of cake for breakfast and a coffee both of which were lovely but not really what I was after. My daughter had a cheese and ham bagel which she liked. I’m not complaining (much) but just want others to know what is available for breakfast now so you can plan accordingly. I’d have liked a waffle for breakfast or a croissants. They did have lots of pre packed sandwiches and there was a cheese filled croissant which you could get heated but I don’t like them. The cake selection was good and they were delicious. We came back for lunch and had the specials, Tarka dhal and a chicken curry. Both lovely. A nice cafe, modern, clean, good staff just more breakfast options please.

Waffle is good. Smoothie tastes like puke. Service is good.

Great location, beatiful views, good menu and very friendly staff, especially Cath. The coffee can improve though.

The waffles were very good! It is a large amount of food considering the price. I really enjoyed it and you can also use your yoyo card to get points there.

It's a lovely place for my lunch break, and love the staff and soups. Sometimes I have an irresistible waffle with ice cream, or a fresh salad. there is always a smile and is always super clean. thanks for all the joy you put in your food!

Cegin is a very nice food outlet in Pontio. Very nice food and extremely friendly staff!! Also very good with rewards if you have the yoyo app.

I mean, where do I start with this gem of a find. If you're looking for a firendly service and excellent range of produce, look no further. With a wide range of fresh pizza's, bagels and sandwitches, no one will be dissapointed. The cakes as you walk in will certainlly make you want to have one of each. Highly highly reccomended and to top it all - great customer service, served with a smile!

Fantastic soup, bagels and jacket potatoes,all freshly prepared, never disappoints, , fresh salad, fresh fruit, home baked cakes and freshly made waffles cannot recommend enough. The staff always welcoming, Kath and the Cegin team always ready to please, Thanks guys

what a hidden gem this cafe is situated on the 3rd floor of the pontio building at bangor university, it offers a wide range of foods suitable for all tastes. the soups and bagles are delicious, but my favourite is the gingerbread latte and the homemade cakes. try the chocolate and orange cake its the best with a latte. the staff are very accomadating and they make a wonderful atmosphere, they even smile and laugh. cath is one of the best girls in the building and loves to laugh and joke with the work force, which makes it an enjoyable place. they speak in both welsh and english which i like as i am learning to speak welsh so they always give out new phrases to speak so try your best to speak welsh to them. overall the food is brill , the staff are 110% all times and i enjoy going. BTW im not getting paid for this review just doing it to support the staff.

Great place to meet up with work colleagues and friends for a lunchtime catch up. Staff are friendly and helpful and the cafe is always clean and well presented. Delicious Bagels and Jacket pots with a good selection of fresh cakes to tempt you. You can use YoYo and collect points towards free drinks and food. Nadolig Llawen and thank you for looking after us through the year.

Great place for lunch. Food always fresh. Real coffee. Nice atmosphere in an interesting building. Staff pleasant and attentive.

The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing and the bagels are delicious! The staff are really accommodating and friendly as well. Definitely recommend!

Great place. Clean and fast service. The big shock today was a change of menu and the loss of their wonder pizzas. I hope the Pontio management read this as its a great disappointment to have lost them. Please bring them back!

Great food and drinks and very friendly service. One of our favourite cafes in the area. Highly recommended.

Food could be considerably better. It's very clearly that the waffles have just been store-bought and defrosted and the bagels are stale. Aesthetically a nice place but the service generally is poor and the food is wildly overrated for what you get.

had a vegetarian Panni , which was really good, others with me had Sandwiches we all decided to have a waffles which where out of this world.

The pizzas, waffles and sandwiches are really tasty. For a small place, the quality of ingredients is good. The waffles and ice cream are my favourite.

With so many places to eat out nowadays, Cegin ticks many of the boxes for a lunch time treat. Slightly hidden at the back of Pontio the Bagels are brill and waffles are big. Kids love it

Visited with my husband during a trip to Bangor. Very friendly staff and we both had the quarrymans bagel. Very tasty as was the cappuccinos that we had to go with it. Will definitely call in again when next in Bangor.

I go to Cegin pretty regularly and the service always impresses and the food, especially the bagels and waffles are always amazing. Would 100% recommend Cegin to everyone!!

I went with 5 friends for a quick bite for lunch. The service was very friendly and very speedy. I ordered the greek bagel and it certainly had plenty of filling! I was surprised by how affordable everything was on their menu.

Coffee and bagel are excellent here. I had a Cegin Deli bagel (pastrami, gherkin, cheese) and a latte. The patio is a great sun trap with views across to Bangor mountain and out across hirael bay.

Lovely selection of Danish pastries and some fantastic Bagels in the menu, the coffee was very good. I can only drink Soya and not all coffee shops provide soya, but Cegin do and made me a lovely Soya Latte. Would recommend Cegin to anyone visiting Bangor, it's location is also very nice with a great little sun terrace that I am sure will be popular I the summer months.

Great cosy atmosphere in this cafe. It has a south facing patio which should be fabulous in summer for sitting outside. They specialise in bagels and gave started doing pizza after 5pm. I had a deli bagel - pastrami, gherkin, Monterrey cheese on a lovely chewy bagel. Very very good food!

It's a bit out the way, I was only made aware of this place from a friend. However, the service was excellent and the food as good. Would recommend.

Only stopped for coffee and a chat but this is a lovely little quirky cafe in Pontio. Prices aren't bad, they offer bagels, waffles and have a selection of sandwiches and salads. Great little spot for lunch or coffee, definitely would visit again for food. Bagels looked delicious!

Fresh bagels and a fabulous selection of freshly baked treats greeted our first trip to the newly opened Begin cafe on level 3 of Pontio. It's a little tricky to find first time but worth the adventure! Lovely cosy space with large glass windows looking out across a patio. I can imagine this will be amazing in the summer. Today we had coffee (latte) - very nice (good strength and flavour) as well as a selection of pastries (photos uploaded I hope). A choccy twist, a pain au raisin and a sweet baked 'pretzel' thing which was *amazing*! Really nice space this - worth a try.
