What a wonderful visit - great welcome from all the staff - a real Team. The food was delicious and well presented plus the atmosphere in the restaurant, although very busy as always, was very relaxed. Just a Great Big Thank You to you All. As you step out of the restaurant you're enter a most delightful shopping area; so many hand made goodies. Pottery, paintings, home crafted scarves + a super selection of cards + home made preserves and more. If you're thinking of visiting Somerset then think YANDLES.

Mum's favourite place. Ordered her favourite, bacon bap. Was told breakfast finished at 11.30. When I asked what the time was (I really didn't know) the answer was 11.32. Ha ha. So asked for a BLT instead (lunch option). "Lunch doesn't start till 12". So we sit and wait for half an hour? "Yes". Ha ha again. Not even a pretend show of 'I'll just go ask the kitchen nicely.' Give this one their due - they take their duties VERY seriously. Still mum's favourite place, as staff service and food usually spot on. Hopefully this one is just an anomaly. All things must pass ... 🙏

My husband and I visited Yandles for lunch as we have always found it enjoyable and today was no exception. We arrived about 2 and it was quieter and we were served quickly. We were really excited when we arrived as the cafe was quite busy and we were expecting great things, we ordered ham egg and chips and a woodmans lunch, the ham was wet supermarket sliced ham and the chips were a pound a bag chips from Iceland I should think. The woodmans lunch advertised granary bread and we asked if we could swap for white bread which was agreed, a very big mistake I think, it was swapped for two slices of ready sliced bread! This with a tomato half a dozen pieces of cucumber and three mousetrap sized chunks of cheese did not equate to the price of £9.50, The cafe was lovely the staff were polite but the food did not live up to the standard you would expect from such a great facility in martock.

Yandles Café is next to the excellent gift shop and has a pleasant rear terrace (for warmer days), as well as external seating near the entrance (good for dogs and their companions), and plenty of tables inside. Fine selection of freshly baked cakes and scones. Loose leaf and speciality teas, as well as a good range of coffees and soft drinks. It is an enjoyable place for an informal breakfast (the "Saw Miller's" offers a hearty, omnivorous full works, but there are delicious pescatarian/vegetarian/vegan options available too.) It is pleasant location for an informal lunch with friends or family - daily specials (such as fish cakes or stew) as well as soups, sandwiches, hot dishes, etc... The café is a popular location for tea (last orders at 4.15pm). The staff are helpful and cheerful. The café is owned and run by the family of the saw mill and other businesses on the site - they are brilliant at supporting the local community; staff come from a range of backgrounds but all take pride in their work and determined to provide a great service. Good to know that ingredients are locally sourced and food freshly prepared. Parking is easy - there is a substantial car park on site. I popped in for a pre-Christmas breakfast with my sister earlier this week - a local group were singing carols and it was very festive. Be warned, the café is popular with people from the area, as well as passing travellors en route on the 303, and can be busy at peak times.

What a lovely place to spend some time! Adjoining the gorgeous gift shop, you can get breakfast, lunch, or sweet treats. My particular favourite is the homemade soup, perfect for a winter lunch. I tried this cafe some time ago and it was awful. However, i decided to try again as this may have been an unusually bad day. It wasn't! I have attched photos of the absolutely appalling BLT. We waited around 20 minutes for this. The cafe was half empty and only one other order was in abeyance, so no excuses. I heard the 'ping' of the microwave and my worst fears were realised when a re-heated microwaved piece of charcoaled bacon was placed in a bap with limp lettuce and two slices of tomato. To add insult to injury, we had to wait for the tea though goodness knows why. It was so strong that it was undrinkable. I asked for some hot water and was given a tiny milk jug full. In fact, the young chap serving drinks plainly had no idea what he was doing and was excruciatingly slow. I hear another couple complain that their tea was cold. My advice is to avoid. Maybe when the boss is round things are better but the people working today could not possibly claim that they were understaffed, there were at least 4 people in view and they did very little work.

Every bit as good as others have said. Visited after a friend’s well-founded recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. We did, however, think the portion sizes were too large! It was impossible to finish my meal (scampi & chips) despite being initially hungry. I think they could reduce portion size and thereby reduce food waste )and improve their profit margin at the same time) without detrimental effect on their customer offer. My partner enjoyed her lasagne with salad, and we were delighted that they sell Luscombe soft drinks with their excellent menu. Recommended!

Having been to the hospital in South Petherton we came out wanting decent hot drinks so we headed for The Cedar Tree, not far away. They were not far off closing but were more than happy to supply us with a tea and a coffee. The cakes looked lushious but we resisted. They do basic snacks and have a "Specials Board" at lunch times, all home made. We have not been in The Cedar Tree since it was re-vamped a few months ago. It is now very stylish and comfortable. You have a choice of sitting at a table or lounging in the comfy sofas. During better weather there is an outside terrace seating area to enjoy. They also have on sale jars of pickles and chutneys, or jams and marmalades. I came home with some delicious Gooseberry & Elder Flower jam which I later succumbed to on fresh bread and butter, well worth it. The staff are welcoming and helpful and make your visit all the more pleasurable. If you get there in time you can later wander round the crafts & hobbies sections, or pop over to the gallery. Last year I purchased a very pretty picture of a tawny owl which I had framed and now adorns my hallway. There are lots of pictures to choose from. If you work it right you could arrive in time for lunch, have a wander round and have afternoon tea before going home having had an enjoyable day out. And take home a jar of something yummy as a reminder.

We were planning a half day in the Langport and Martock areas so I went on to Trip Advisor beforehand to check out suitable places for a light lunch. The Cedar Tree had good reviews so we went there. We arrived at 11.50am and ordered a baguette and a ploughman's and the waitress said she would make them up at midday which is when they start serving lunch. They were incredibly good and definitely worth waiting for! We also ordered tea for two and it was proper loose leaf tea with a strainer. I would happily call in here again for a meal - they also serve jacket potatoes. It's a large building with additional outside seating and there's also a nice shopping area for people who like arts and crafts.

It arrived very quickly (along with a pot of loose Earl Grey tea) and was delicious - a huge amount of cheese, lovely pickle/chutney, a fresh salad selection, sliced apple and a warm crusty roll with butter. It was a huge plateful and was just yummy.Very reasonably priced and with very friendly, helpful staff, I just wish I'd had room for one their delicious-sounding cream teas or a slice of homemade cake. Booked for dinner but on arrival, they thought we had booked for buffet, fortunately they had a table for us within a short time so we had a pre-dinner drink in the bar, which is fabulous and then went for a lovely meal in the Bistro, it is a small and intimate restaurant and quite modern and food is served on hot rocks, which you cook yourself to your own taste. Nice concept and food was really lovely BUT find that it gets pretty smoky when it is very busy. This is not a unique concept to us and it was a very nice change. Service was attentive and good and wine selection is great. Little pub at the Langport Arms is friendly and wonderful for pre or post drinks too.
