I haven't tried Jamaican before and I really enjoyed it. It arrived much sooner than I expected in about 25min and the price was decent.

I am impressed. To have a freshly cooked lunch delivered to my door on Christmas day at this price is amazing. If I were rating it as a pub / restaurant Sunday lunch, I would give it 4 stars for taste & 5 stars for variety [4 veg!] and portion size. To have it delivered at this price on Xmas day makes it a no-brainer! Pate starter with garnish would not disgrace a top class restaurant. The food was delivered piping hot and as fresh as if it had been freshly plated in a restaurant. All this & a complimentary small bottle of perfectly quaffable wine at around a third of the price of Xmas lunch eating out on Christmas day - & no need to worry about driving home afterwards. Thank you ladies!

Couldn’t resist returning to this gem of a place on our walk up into Oswestry today. The aroma from the kitchen is just so enticing! We tried their Ugandan goat stew on the bone with rice and peas along with the jerk chicken. The stew was absolutely delicious, no chillis in the recipe but very warming with a blend of spices. The jerk chicken was just as good as well, this is a lovely place to visit, value for money plus, tasty tasty food and such friendly and welcoming staff, good on you!

We visited on Saturday afternoon. It was really busy. Liz is fantastic and so welcoming, taking time to explain all the options. I had aubergine curry, rice and peas and bbq beans. It was gorgeous and there were still plenty of other vegetarian options. My husband had jerk chicken (which was so tender it fell straight off the bone), meatballs and rice and peas. He thoroughly enjoyed it. You can fill your own box with whatever you fancy which is a lovely touch as there is plenty to choose from. We loved it and will definitely be back. We're lucky to have it in our town.

Went here for a quick bite on a busy farmer's market day. The cafe was bustling with customers - always a good sign. We had to wait 10 mins or so ( at first we were disappointed until we realised that this was due to the cafe being so popular, and the food freshly-cooked, not stale!) Partner had delicious sailfish and ackie - I had major food envy! But then my curry goat turned up and was absolutely delicious. The staff are lovely, genuinely want you to enjoy their lovely food, and obviously enjoy working together - which makes the atmosphere warm and fun. Would absolutely recommend!

We had been intending to try this little open fronted street cafe serving Jamaican food for a few weeks now... oh boy what a find! The little cafe is situated at the entrance of an undercover market and only open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I would imagine most people order their food to take away, but it does have a few very rustic looking tables and chairs situated at the front of the serving area which adds to the basic but endearing charm to the establishment. There were two gorgeous ladies serving, who were such lovely welcoming and generous people. The choice of food and delicious spicy aromas made it so difficult to decide what to eat and we were promptly told to help ourselves to a bit of everything. We were given a choice of containers to fill and we plumped for the generous looking medium size, even though I was very tempted to go with the large. There was a wide variation of slow cooked chicken on and off the bone in Cajun, jerk and barbecue sauces as well as numerous dishes of vegetables, rices and curries. My favourite though was the beef slices in the most delicious slow cooked sauce. All the meats were beautifully tender and must have been carefully cooked for hours. Sadly we missed out on the goat dish, we were informed it always sells out first... still it’s a good excuse to have go back, which we most definitely will be doing I really feel I need to emphasise how kind natured the two ladies were running this little, what first appears to be, nondescript market cafe. It is people such as these two who reinforce my belief in decent human nature. Whilst greedily devouring the heavenly food in front of us we were brought a complimentary iced melon and mint drink and were then being given some spicy chocolate, pineapple and coconut cake too.... which we actually had to insist we pay for! It was clear to see the people running this little restaurant loved working with food and also loved seeing people enjoying and appreciating their endeavours. They were eager to chat about how they were being given the opportunity to cook at an up coming venue in Nantwich and were also keen to espouse the virtues of the little kitchen situated next to them, which would normally be serving beautiful Fijian food, but was closed due to family commitments. They were happy to sing the praises of and introduce another trader, who if they weren’t such kind spirited people themselves, could have been considered their direct competitor. I can honestly say eating at Cave Valley Kitchens has been a rare and delightful experience. I didn’t just come away with a fully satisfied belly but with a lovely feeling of happiness having experienced such genuine and kind generosity.... a rare treat indeed. This review is my small way of saying a very big and heartfelt thank you from myself, my husband and last but not least, my five little doggies who were treated to freshly cooked roast chicken too. X

On a walk up to the Market Hall in Oswestry last week, we were enticed by the fantastic aromas coming from this kitchen so we decided to try some food. So glad we did, it was so tasty! We couldn’t initially decide what to try so we opted for the small box option where you can try anything on display that will fit into the box ( small, medium or large). I tried the rice, fish and dhal and the small box was plenty for a lunch snack. We also had the fresh mango juice which was really refreshing. Also worth mentioning are the friendly staff who clearly love what they are doing, vibrant and buzzing give this place a visit!

Do not book. We had booked for a family birthday celebration. Service was so, so. Drinks order not taken upon seating and slow to arrive. There were only 3 tables in so can't blame on busyness. For the size of room and number of covers the music was too loud. When it came to taking our food order turned out half of the items weren't available. After placing order waitress had to come back twice to say items we'd ordered weren't available. Standard practice is you tell customers upon seating when items are off the menu. Of the mains of pork, steaks, white fish and risotto my husband was left with only risotto to choose as he's allergic to fish. Pork dish listed as cote de porc (pork chop) but tough, chewy gammon appeared instead. A table near us had to leave (presumably because of little being left). A couple then sat down and proceeded to order things that weren't on the menu we were given. A look up on the website later showed them to be on the bar menu. Apparently the restaurant is closing. If this is correct they should have been transparent when booking about the likelihood of a restricted menu. And also upon arrival. But also poor prep of staff to then not let customers know that items were available from a different menu. ‐------------------ Edit in response. 1. We did tell staff about unhappiness, including with the pork, which is why your staff gave us money off our bill. 2. Bar menu food was served at the table next to us: chicken burger and plaice and chips. Neither of which were on the main menu we were given. 3. We recognised that the servers were trying to do their best under what appeared to be trying circumstances and left a tip. 4. Re husband's allergy. There's normally a good choice of other things. The main time we need to mention it is when going somewhere which has taster menus.
