Excellent selection of cheeses, hams and other specialty delicatessen products. Not cheap, but still good value for money as the produce here you won't get in a supermarket. Very helpful service.

I was visiting from London and found this superb delicatessen by chance . I bought some specialty cheeses and Italian vegetable seeds to grow in the Spring. The cheese was very fresh and even more delicious than I’d hoped , and I will look forward to growing the vegetables next year as a happy reminder of my visit to this lovely shop . It easily rivals any of the best delicatessens anywhere in London and as a discerning gastronome, I was honestly in seventh heaven here . The 2 ladies behind the counter were very knowledgeable and so friendly and helpful . It broke my heart when, as I was waiting for my order to be wrapped , I witnessed a male customer treating one of the female servers appallingly , to the point where , I almost snapped at him , but thankfully he left quickly , perhaps as he saw me staring daggers at him during his interaction. These women were absolutely lovely, they were working so hard, were so helpful and do not deserve this . Shame on you , if you read this , the man who wanted jarred chillis and Cornish Yarg that day. This is a world class shop with world class staff who deserve to be treated kindly. What a privilege it was to visit this beautiful treasure trove of a shop today . They are clearly consummate professionals in dealing with Knobs , but please treat them respectfully and treasure this diamond of a shop have in Shrewsbury .

Probably one of the best Deli’s I have visited in the UK and consistently good every week I go. Meat and cheeses are up there with the best from Bologna / Tuscany as these are our favourites. Don’t be put off by the queues and people in the shop. All good things come to those who wait as they say. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. They usually have a lot going on so don’t think they’re rude, they are just trying to serve everyone. Highly recommended if you want proper food and reminder of being on holiday in Europe, there’s something for everyone

First time visit to this delicatessen earlier this week. The staff were helpful and friendly, and were able to advise on just the right ingredients that I needed. We'll definitely pop in again next time we're in Shrewsbury. Thank you.

A hidden gem of Shrewsbury. Wonderful cheeses, meats preserves, jams, chocolate and esoteric foods you won't find anywhere else! The staff are super friendly and you simply can't find better cheese!

My daughter and myself came into the shop today enquiring about cheese wedding cakes. Well I can honestly say I have never come across someone so rude and unhelpful! She was a grey haired woman who was leaning on the counter and continued to lean on the counter while we were trying to get some information on cheese wedding cakes from her! It was like getting blood out of a stone!!! Quite frankly I wouldn’t step foot back in that shop again or recommend you to anyone due to the ill mannered elderly woman you have serving ( although it didn’t look like she did much of that the way she was leaning on the counter with a shop full of customers) very unprofessional!!!!!

Shocking staff members, I was stood outside this establishment today with my two Italian greyhound pups. My partner entered the store to purchase some items to be greeted by the two staff members discussing very loud how our pups looked like “rats” and are for “common people”, in-front of customers and other staff members. Maybe they were jealous due to the attention the puppies were getting from passers by? My partner asked if they were talking about the two puppies outside, they said yes, she informed them the puppies are hers and left. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But if any of my staff spoke to our clients or customers in that manner I would be disgusted and very disappointed. Just for the record, the puppies are both from the highest pedigree and award winning blood lines, maybe the reason they cause so much attention everywhere they go. Unlike the staffs cheap bleached hair, and the stores overpriced goods. But as I say everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Bought a small pork pie from this shop,the meat was dry, and the pastry stale. Would not go again.

I was looking for some Shrewsbury Biscuits, and Appleyards was recommended. What an amazing delicatessen! Such a great selection. There were so many different types of cheeses there. I wish it was located near where I live. I would be a regular visitor!

The best place to buy cheese In Shrewsbury. Friendly knowledgeable service. Wide range of British and continental cheese. Especially strong on Italian cheese. Good range of local craft ales and other deli products.

This place is amazing. Lovely friendly owner and staff. The food is beautiful. They also make their own sausages, bacon and black pudding. Lots of locally sourced products as well as continental. They have a huge variety of cheeses and also sell loads of local beers and so much more. This place is a hidden gem. The shop itself is stunning. They also have a huge range of lovely Christmas gifts if your looking for something different. They sell the best Franchi seeds. The list goes on. I would highly recommend visiting this shop to anyone.

Amazing range of cheeses, cured meats and other interesting bits - definitely not the kind of stuff you find in the local supermarket! Friendly staff are really helpful and were happy to take the time to explain what everything is. Great for presents as there's loads of stuff you won't find anywhere else and they even sell bottled ale! 👍

You walk in and the aroma of fine cheese and sweet meats instantly transports you to Italy or France, the whole shop is an assult on the senses. Cheeses ,meats preserves and almost anything else you would expect to fine in any fine deli in the land and very knowledgeable friendly staff make it a delight to shop here..

Lovely, helpful, knowledgeable staff, and a fantastic selection of cheeses. I highly recommend the Truffle Pecorino, the Berkswell, and the Pecorino Rosso! The also stock superb local ales, meats, culinary curiosities and, of course, great stuff in the way of pies and other snacks from Reggie May. I don't buy cheese from anywhere else.

Staff very knowledgeable and friendly, stock always fresh displayed very well , the choice of cheese excellent, they also have a stall bin the market which is more oriented to meat and pie's fab choice of bacon.

This is a great traditional deli which has a great selection of British, Italian, and french cheese and cured meats.

Everything you could ever want or need, the cheese selection is out of this world, pate, sausage rolls, pork pies, pasta, the list goes on and on. A must for everyone.

An interesting shop calling itself a cheesemonger but having many other products under the general description of artisan. We bought two types of blue cheese, namely Bleu de Neiges & Stichelton of which the second was delicious in my opinion :)

This deli is amazing. The variety of cheeses, sauces, pasta etc is incredible. The knowledge of the assistants is exceptional - they can advise and recommend a solution when the customer is unsure, so making a visit enjoyable.

Yes, there is a good range of produce for a small shop, and many cultures are represented. This would be fine - if the food were fresh. I bought some cheese yesterday because it's a type of cheese I previously enjoyed immensely when bought elsewhere. It wasn't refrigerated, but I guess I had faith in the company due to other people''s perception of the service there and the range of quality stock. It was comprehensively wrapped in cling film so I did not see the colour of the cheese before I got home. I ate some anyway even though it looked far too old. It was astringent, acrid, and vile. I had stomach ache afterwards which may or may not be related to the cheese shown in this picture. Suffice to say I will avoid this company. What an absolute rip off. Despicable.

They have a vast range of cheese and know about them. The meats pasta and suces are also good. they also seel artisan bread.

Sometimes the only reason I will go to Shrewsbury. There's nothing like a "Propper Shop", that takes pride in their quality and standard of fine wares.

Shrewsbury, and surrounds, would be a lot poorer without this wonderful deli. Great selection of local, British, and Continental cheeses, cold meats, and all the other stuff you would expect from a classy first rate deli. The staff are amazing and very knowledgable, and full of great advice when you are not sure of what you want. You can taste the cheeses before you buy. Also a great selection of real ales and craft beers from small independent breweries. Life really would be a lot drearier without Appleyards. We visit at least a couple of times a week.

I visit Appleyards quite often, usually to stock the cheese board for dinner party's. Everyone loves my cheese board. I'm not going to tell you which is the best cheese they sell because next time I go they will probably have run out, so you'll just have to find your own favourites. The counter staff are very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful, so you'll be in good hands.

I have visited this shop on numerous occasions over the years and have always marveled at their continental selection of foods.This time I purchased some of My favorite Ardrahan cheese, Parmesan and Italian biscuits.The woman in the shop was very rude asking me whether I and another woman were together, then just turned her back on me ?.I left the cheese in the car, as the carpark was like a fridge (as it is usually a bit wiffy) and returned the next day, the smell in the car was that bad I had to open all the doors for 10 mins. to let the smell out.The cheese was inedible and I had to throw my £10`s worth to the ducks.

It would be difficult to find a wider selection of interesting European foods in the compass of a shop this size. Superb items; wide variety. A specialist shop, so not cheap; but worth every penny.

It's absolutely crammed with really special and unusual things. An absolute feast for the eyes. A great mix of local and continental. It's hard to believe the range of things they have in such a small shop. You should see it at Christmas!

A trip around the food counter and shelves in Appleyards takes you around the world in cheeses, charcuterie and sweet and savoury delights of all sorts. The place to find such out of the way things (in my part of Shropshire anyway) as salt preserved capers and raclette cheese.

We walked into Appleyards on a Saturday morning to buy cheese & cooked meats for a party that evening. The choice was fantastic. We explained what we wanted and the two ladies serving couldn't have been more helpful in guiding us through the huge range on offer. When we asked about local cheeses there was a good variety to select from. Likewise, when we wanted recommendations for cheeses similar to more common types, the advice was spot on. The same with the cooked meats. We were looking for alternatives to the more popular hams and salamis and we weren't disappointed. I can say this now because, after the party, there was very little left and we had lots of compliments for our cheese board and meat platters. I don't think we could have done that by randomly pulling cheeses of the shelf in a supermarket. So, thank-you to Appleyards for helping to make our party a success.

I have used this shop on a number of occasions now and their service is fantastic. They have a quite immense choice of so many locally produced things and I cannot finish a visit without being tempted by the massive choice of local bottled beers. Always friendly and just so worth a visit!

I have been to appleyards four times now - pop in and buy a lump of cheese I would never usually try, a bottle of beer i've never heard of and a packet of ships bisucuits (all butter) and sit by the river and have my lunch. Delightful. Amazing selection, great staff and a lovely atmosphere.

We were referred to Appleyards by another merchant when we asked for goat or sheep cheeses, and we were so grateful for the recommendation. the store has a wide and wondrous selection of cheeses from everywhere, along with all the other deli items you might expect. Just one thing, the store often sells out of bread early, so if you need a loaf, it might be best to buy it elsewhere. The location is just off the main tourist streets in Shrewsbury, but on the usual walking tour routes. Note: Appleyards is take-out only.
