Sunday carvery, advertised 12-3, arrived 1.15 only pork available, tough, most food cold, luke warm at best, gravy like water, defrosted shop bought sweets . At £13.99 per person definitely not value for money and won't be returning.

Used to be five pounds to park, last season, but change of management now means that it is ten pounds to park!.. Obviously when Shrewsbury Town are at home. I'm no lover of Tories, and blame them for everything they are guilty of, but... A 100% increase for parking is not a cost of living crisis, it's just pure greed. That said, this year it wasn't standing room only, so we sat in comfort, and enjoyed great beer... Still disappointed that the fish and chip shop, across the road, is now a pizza and kebab outlet, and the gorgeous woman I met there, first time I visited, doesn't work there anymore.

WORST PLACE EVER!!!! Attended here as a Plymouth Argyle fan and straight away my back was up due to the security very pushy with away fans which wasn't on! Only had to explain there was a different entrance for away fans-I'm not to know that as an away fan! Had to queue 25 minutes for a drink eith 1 member of staff serving which was ridiculous and quite frankly annoyed everyone! Eventually another bloke was brought in to help serve drinks. Mens toilet was absolutely disgusting and the floor was that full of water yoh could put your flippers on and have a pool party, absolutely vile! I had 1 pint of coors and a lemonade/lime and the next morning my stomach was not right which I can only assume was a dodgy pint as I had nothing to eat at Shrewsbury. Certainly wont be returning to this dump of a place, utter shambles and they wonder why trouble breaks out when fans are treated like animals!!! The police even moved fans onto the ground as they were 'big lumps' and didnt want trouble-Thats discrimination based on someones size. Overall, absolute shambles!!!!

We booked for a Sunday Carvery as we were told it was under new management, having arrived early we went to the bar for a drink but waited almost 15 minutes to be served as there seemed to be only 2 girls working. We then proceeded to the restaurant at our booked time only to wait another 15 minutes before any staff turned up to show us to our table. It was immediately apparent that the restaurant was filthy, sticky tables that hadn’t been wiped down after the last people had left (the same applied when the couple sat next to us left and they had a dog at the table !!) there was a large covering of dust on all chairs and ledges that obviously hadn’t been cleaned for a couple of months ! If the “front of house” is this dirty what is the kitchen like ?) The carvery itself was of a general good standard with a nice selection of fresh veg (with the exception of the red cabbage which looked to have been left out far too long) the beef, although nowhere near pink was tender, my wife’s turkey good too but the roast pork was extremely dry, so much so that it crumbled when being carved, we did point out that the Yorkshire puddings were cold and the man serving brought a fresh tray out for us. My wife used the ladies toilet during our visit only to find there was no toilet rolls at all !! We did point this out to the waitress who said that they didn’t have any loo roll at all, I really question how staff are managing to maintain satisfactory hygiene levels if they can’t wipe their own bums ?? I honestly think the new management need to address staffing levels and definitely up the cleaning regime, we won’t be rushing back

Called in to The Wild Pig, it was very quiet, in fact I did wonder if they were open, so asked the barman first. The two teas and full breakfasts soon arrived and were brilliant. Completely faultless. One of the best cooked English breakfasts we'd had for ages. Struggling to think of a better one. We ordered fish, chunky chips & mushy peas off the menu. When it arrived it had fish, skinny chips & no peas. At this point it’s fare to say we should have just refused to accept it. I mentioned to the male waiter that it said chunky chips on the menu and the reply was sorry Chef told me he has run out of them. What should have happened was the waiter asking us if it was ok to still have the meal. No sign off the peas, he said they would come later! They did when we finished eating. Needless to say we told them it was a bit late. It was obvious we were not happy so they offered a £5 discount on the meal. Once again I must state we should have refused the meal. The fish was very tasty. Won’t be going back again.

Visited on Remembrance Sunday for a carvery, greeted and seated quickly (should have been a warning), order taken swiftly then nothing. Chef missing for 10 minutes then finally when he did arrive he served the meat knowing there were no toast potatoes ready and after saying they would be out in a minute they finally arrived after the veg was cold, but wait..... not roast potatoes but boiled potatoes with paprika powder dusted over the top for colour (they tasted like dry boiled potatoes with paprika dusted over them) I did complain and they apologised but still no roast potatoes and the Parsnips were cremated. The staff were pleasant but hardly dressed appropriately for waiting on but perhaps that’s a more personal opinion. All in all a shocking visit and I will not be going back. There are loads of good carverys in the area that can cook so they will get my business. If a Chef can’t produce a Carvery they should hang their head in shame!

We went on a BH Saturday and the lack of people perhaps should have set alarm bells ringing. The floor of the main eating area was sticky and the tables, although clear of dirty plates had not been wiped down. The burgers were ‘OK’ (Cajun Chicken and Pulled Pork). The scampi straight out of a freezer pack and the chicken breast was suspiciously ‘thin’ - in fact it was a chicken breast cut in half and the cut edge hidden with the spices. The french fries had a cardboard texture (were they reheated? Refried? Not nice as all). There was a strange ‘vetting process’ when entering the car park (A young man asking what our purpose was in coming to the venue. When we said to have some food he responded “that’s OK then park anywhere” - We did wonder other than eating and drinking, what other folk do!)
