This is the best fish shop in Hull. Called on Friday lunchtime whilst back in Hull and had superb Haddock and pattie. Big white flakes of the best tasting fish cannot be beaten. Really friendly staff and a great Hull business. See you at Christmas!

Probably the best chippy I have ever visited. I opted for and XL haddock with chips, which came to a very reasonable £10.20. On getting home and opening the wrappings, the fish was a huge thick haddock loin, not the thin fillets you get at some places. The chips were cooked just as I like them, with salt and vinegar put on them for taste. The service was extra fast and pleasant. A real gem of a find for me, and I'll certainly be returning. Thankyou for a great "chippy tea".

Good friendly service from the staff and excellent food. And very good portion as well. Would highly recommend as the best chippie in Hull.

Best Pattie I’ve had in years just how I remembered patties as they used to be the fish was amazing nice big chunky flakes of white fish in a lovely crispy batter and chips were very good too first visit to this chippy but will definitely be returning

This place is legendary and you can see why. I will be honest its been a few years since i last visited but boy i can remember why i loved it so much when i lived close by. We ordered medium fish and chips twice, it was huge. More than enough for us, the fish was a fair old size and flaky, white and tasty with a lush crispy batter. The chips were plentiful and well cooked, just how i like them. Quick and fast service with a smile. Great place to go.

Cave Street Chippy is a bit of Hull Legend ! Easy to see why. Service with a smile. Great quality freshly cooked fish and chips and choice of Haddock, Cod, Skate and Plaice tho not all pre cooked and ready to go. All very reasonably priced. Not sure we're previous reviewers £12 price came from ?

Used to be the best chip shop in Hull, now I’d say it’s the worst. How they manage to get their chips into the state they do is beyond me. Brown, over cooked, greasy, mushy and flavourless. scraps are nice...that’s something I guess for a £12 meal...

Forget Pappas and Funkyfish this is the best Fish&Chip shop by a Country Mile. The fish is tender and tasty whilst the chips are first class.

Nicely cooked fresh food and lives up to expectations. I got a large fish and chips the fish was massive.

We went for fish and chips tonight for ourselves and three grandkids. The food was beautiful and more than enough to feed us all. The fish was big and tasty, the batter was golden and crispy. The portion of chips Is always more than enough for me and one of my grandkids to share. We also got pattie and chips, a sausage and chips, mushy peas and gravy. All the food was well cooked and tasty. Will definitely return.

To say this is the worst fish and chips I've ever had sums things up!! Been here lots of times and always really nice but tonight it was totally inedible...The chips although there was plenty were just scraps and the fish had never met a haddock never mind disguising itself as one...the only nice thing was the pattie! Won't be going back in usually don't mind the fact it's a bit more expensive than other nearby fisheries but this was just awful absolutely gutted!

I visited Cave street chippie on a friday afternoon at around 1:30 p.m.the large haddock looked good and fresh out of the friar.I said to the man i would like one of those large haddocks with chpis please.He pleasantly took my money and then presented me with two small portions of fish with my chips.To make this decision,nevergiving me the option even though i had said how good the large fish looked was very poor and showed alack of respect for a new and potentially regular customer.It was a disapointing and as i feared the quality of the fish was low as is usually the case with smaller pieces of fish.I HAVE NOT BEEN BACK!

Fish is huge and I mean huge the chips are in abundance seriously value for money at its best ...we travel from afar way down under in Perth Australia just for a good fish supper. Ahh the patties what can I say except please give me the recipe so I take it home ..

We eat from here quiet regularly and can honestly say it is the best chippy about. We live bransholme so is a good 15 minuite drive but it is more then worth it. Staff are always very friendly and polite and the food..... well that speaks for its self the fish from here are enormous and the chips are to die for i dont knkw what you do to them but they are BEAUT!

Carl is a good laff always spotless & clean... his fish & chips are enormous curry, gravy, peas etc are all nice but his patty butty OMG it's a proper hull patty we have friends & family from Manchester: as far as Malta & Greece gym over & the 1st thing they ask for is cave street.. I live hu7 but I always go to cave street.. Best by far..

We are fortunate to have a few decent fish and chip shops in Hull but Cave Street is definitely the best of the lot. The fish is always cooked perfectly, beautifully fresh with a lovely light crisp batter, the chips are the tastiest ever, the patties have so much flavour and not forgetting the battered sausages that we always get as a special treat for our four legged friend, his favourite treat ever. The service is always swift, the staff are really friendly and Carl the owner is a great character.

We always used this chippie when we're in Hull and now we've moved to South Cave we still use it all the time. In our opinion you won't get better. In fact I think we're going to get some now!

This is probably the best fish and chip shop in hull, and well worth travelling to. I probably pass twenty fish and chip shop in the journey from my house, but wouldn't consider stopping at any of them. No cardboard boxes full of dry chips rattling around. These are wrapped in paper as fish and chips should be. Keep up the fantastic work guys.

My husband and i have travelled the length and breadth of UK and by far cave street Fisheries is the best. Delicious lovely white fish cooked to perfection by Carl. Would recommend everyone to give it a go, you will not be disappointed

Attended at lunchtime after reading a lot of positive feedback. Readily found a parking / eating spot in the street which is a bonus these days.

Forget us being the city of culture just come to Hull order Haddock pattie chips and a bag of scraps with curry sauce/gravy optional. This chippy deserves a Michellin star !!

As someone whose eaten a lot of fish and chips over the years I can confirm hat Cave Street is Hull's best fish and chip shop. The fish and chips are good quality, cooked perfectly, and the staff and wonderful; warm, friendly, and brilliant at their job.

This is a great Fish & Chip shop. The batter has some substance to it. It doesn't flake off into little bits like some other shops.

Recently in 'Ull as a first time visitor I was taken (by a local) to the Cave Street chippy and it was amazing! This was also my first experience of a Northern chippy and it's true what they say, Northern chippys beat Southern ones hands down and I'm a Southerner saying this. So aside from the haddock and chips, which was first class and very generous servings (we even had chip scraps which I’d not seen in years), I also had the local delicacy, a pattie buttie in a breadcake, and not forgetting the copious amounts of another local thing, chip spice, as well. Definitely a meal I won't forget in a hurry, never took a pic as I scoffed too fast. Anyway, this is a highly recommended chippy in Hull and I will be back one day I hope. And oh yeah, the staff were really lovely, too.

Best chippy in Hull in my opinion. The chips are beautiful nice and brown and taste amazing! The staff are all friendly and polite and the place is always immaculate. If I could eat here for my lunch every day then I would but unfortunately I have to watch my figure ;) so it's a treat every couple of weeks for me.

We are new to the area and was recommended by friends to try here, What a let down for the cost of 3 fish chips and side orders peas and curry I would of thought we would of enjoyed them as it was not cheap. The fish was more like a cracker bread it was that hard think it must of been there since the lunch time trade,. The chips looked like they had been cooked in gravy browning they was that dark also stone cold. However the curry was very tasty but we had nothing to put it on as we had to throw the food away, Must say the staff was very friendly and I was served as soon as walked in. We was left really disappointed and hungry May be we went on a bad day.

Yes,I know it's subjective but for me the best chippy is this one. Always consistent always good service and always delicious. I have patronised this chippy for decades and have never had bad fish and chips. Fish special every time, well nearly always...

I occasionally treat myself to a medium fish or small fish and pattie. I've eaten fish and chips from some of the best chippies up and down the country and also worked as a fish fryer. Cave Street Fisheries fish is cut from cut from thick flaky fillets and can compete with the best anywhere. You know it's good by the satisfied expression on people's faces as they sit nearby in their cars and vans gleefully tucking into their meals - it's so good they have to eat up there and then!

After speaking with friends and family about their favourite chippy Cave Street was mentioned. So we gave it a try and I must say it was nice and of good quality. The fish was well cooked and reasonable size for the money but the chips lacked a little in quality and portion size. The pattie was nice but smaller than we usually have and the peas where excellent. On the whole worth a visit but just don't expect anything too special.

Always top quality, fresh haddock. Always busy, speaks volumes about the place. Worth a journey across the city for me.

The usual please....haddock n chips 4times and a portion of mushy peas. The chips are cooked till dark brown - perfect. The fish - very white, fresh, batter dark brown- perfect. Always get take away from here - recommended.

Never been before but my partner had informed it had a great reputation years ago. Well that might of been years ago. The fryer man seemed moody, had his back to me all the time cooking only my large Haddock. Not customer friendly in my eyes & after that my fish was slightly overcooked Which was a shame as it was massive. Chips were OK but cheap tasting curry so I won't be waisting my petrol money to travel across the city again. Sat afternoon and I was the only one in probs says how much maybe this has gone down hill.

On a trip to Hull UK I had the good fortune to stumble on this fish and chip shop what a find,probably the best in the UK maybe even the world its worth a trip from overseas again just to taste that beautiful fish.

Fish and Chips is a must for me when I travel the UK, and Cave Street Fisheries is a must when in Hull! Really tasty fish, really huge portions, and a really lovely Carl behind the counter. Good food, good fun - go!
