As a massive cat lover and owner of 5 myself i was super excited to go x we were greeted by a lovely friendly young girl . but sadly i was so disappointed there was a distinct smell as soon as you enter and noticed the blankets and cushions were very dirty which deterred us from wanting to eat x the cats were adorable and very healthy but felt there was a severe lack of stimulation and different places for the cats to go sadly i won’t be returning 😟😟😟please take a look at Maison de Moggie in Edinburgh maybe get a bit of inspiration

This is a pleasant little café and I particularly liked the charming music they have playing, made me feel like I was in a Pixar movie. There is obviously a bit of a cat odour but that is to be expected! It is a cat café! There is a tiny menu of a few drinks, toasties and a couple of sweet bites, it's a little on the pricey side but I guess that is needed to cover their costs. The main appeal of the café is obviously the cats rather than the food and drink. The cats themselves seemed happy and well cared for. There are sensible rules in place such as not disturbing cats when they are sleeping and the cats are also able to get space away from the café by going to the back area whenever they want, they are never forced into interacting with customers so I didn't have any ethical concerns at all, they all appear very happy. Visits are limited to 1 hour which was enough time to enjoy it. Booking is pretty essential as it does seem to reach full capacity as they are only allowed a certain number of people in at any one time. Overall, not a bad spot to spend a charming hour.

Visited here with my family and was very uncomfortable with the whole experience. On arriving majority of the cats dispersed to places where they wouldn't be fussed. The 2 sphinx cats in particular hid under a blanket the whole time we were there. There doesn't seem to be somewhere where the cats can get away from people if they want to. The staff had no interaction whatsoever which was very off putting. It seemed one poor cat was getting chased by 2 other cats and was scared but had nowhere to hide. To be honest I'm absolutely ashamed with myself for going in the first place it's obviously all geared towards making money and not about the cats best welfare. The 2 sphinx cats were on the seat hiding under a blanket next to us and we respectfully just left them alone for some peace. As soon as we left the other visitors in the cafe went straight over and lifted the blanket off so they could all take photos and stroke them. It was very obvious that they, and most of the other cats, didn't want to be stroked and the staff just let this happen. This is my first visit to a cat cafe and it will certainly be my last! I felt really sad for all the cats in there. If your going to visit one of these exploitive places then at least have the decency to let interaction be on the cats terms.

This place has been on our list to visit for a long time now, and what a let down. Walking in to the cafe there is an awful smell which made us consider turning on our heels and leaving but against our better judgement we decided to stay. The cafe itself is plain, could do with a refresh and the hygiene and cleanliness of the place made for a disappointing visit. The chairs were clicked to hell (fair enough it is a cat cafe, and cats will click) but the smell off of them was really the issue. I suspect because they’re all clicked, any scents/fluids etc can seep into them. Every time you moved or were close to the material whilst stroking the cats, there was an awful smell. The soft furnishings have not seen a washing machine for god knows how long and again had a nasty smell. The staff were not particularly interactive aside from checking you in, taking a food/drinks order and taking payment for the visit. It would have been nice to see a bit more interaction where they could tell you a bit about the cats in the cafe (there is an outdated poster on the wall which tells you who is who, but a few of the cats had been ‘retired’ and new cats moved in so is not reflective of the current furry hosts). Overall it was a really disappointing visit that we wont repeat.

We have been a regular to catpawcino for 2-3 years now and the cats are lovely. We enjoy seeing the cats and your son likes the different types of cats. However when we last visited last month we noticed a huge difference, the place itself is ran down dirty wallpaper, very dusty lights when you look up at the ceiling, floor dirty, Smells of cat urine as litter trays are in the cage not hygienic at all, cat blankets and the heated blanket stinks and very dirty. Every week these should be washed and the toilet there is a sanitary bin and it sink and theses insects coming out of it the sanitary bins needs cleaning far more regular. We enjoyed visiting catpawcino and the cats are lovely however for future presence we will be going to another cat cafe which is clean. I would hope the owner would come and see how ran down her business is going.

Lovely family time at this cat cafe. Gorgeous cats and friendly staff. Cats are so Friendly. We got to give them treats. My young kids loved it. Delicious ham and cheese toasties, cheese scone and hit chocolates. It is a bit rushed with just one hour and food served half way through but we could take away.

I took my great niece for an early birthday treat, and she loved it. Warm welcome ( we were asked to remove shoes as they had run out of shoe covers!) Clear directions were given about handling the cats, and a small amount of treats were offered for feeding the cats. Lovely atmosphere....place full of soppy cat lovers like us. Purrrrrrrfect.

Recently overcame my fear of cats so thought this would be a fun thing to experience. So glad we did! Very very clean, owner was friendly, although it got busy she maintained her cool and managed to stay on top of everything, reasonable priced-I had the tropical smoothie which was delicious, cats were very well looked after, we even got a chance to feed them treats, other guests were friendly so there was a sense of camaraderie.Overall one to visit if you ever find yourself in Newcastle

Really disappointed with the cat cafe, we had pre booked online, with a well set out website we were really looking forward too our trip there, upon arrival we were greeted by a younger girl, seemed really helpful and she sat us down, gave us some cat treats, which they seemed totally uninterested in, which gave the impression they were over fed treats...the menu was very very sparse, with a bit of it being sold out too, so we had a cup of tea and a muffin each, nothing special from that department. Whilst waiting for our food, several Adults and their children were chasing the cats around the cafe, very clearly scaring the cats they climbed up a height and into a sleeping pen next to our table, the customers proceeded to stand next to us and pester the cats, and anyone who knows anything about body language could tell these cats were not happy!! The staff however looked on and watched the whole time, not intervening at all. It was actually very hard to watch these poor animals have no escape. The cafe itself could of been cleaner, especially for the cats.We only stayed 30 minutes because of the atmosphere and the treatment of the cats however we went to pay and were over charged!! We were not expecting miraculous things, but as the staff they have a duty of care to these animals. You wouldn’t allow people to chase your cat in your home, so they most certainly should not let multiple strangers do it! There should be more shelter for them and clearer rules, for both adults and children.Very very Unimpressed.

My partner and I have been touring around the UK since mid June and as slightly "crazy cat ladies", we have visited cat cafes in Singapore (on our stopover to the UK), Liverpool (my former favourite cat cafe and still a wonderful place), the Lake District, and Edinburgh. This cat cafe at Quayside we only found out about from a random chat with another couple at dinner one night, who mentioned it, so we booked. We managed to book the last time slot for the next day, 6pm, which was good timing for us as we'd booked dinner at the nearby Slug & Lettuce for 7.30pm.Anyway, this cat cafe has all the same rules and procedures as the others (which is good to see, for the sake of the cats), and the atmosphere was SO warm and relaxing, the staff welcoming and friendly, and the cats were just GORGEOUS.They were very active and playful, all different ages, some related, and very affectionate and friendly. There were 2 Scottish Folds, who were just absolutely adorable, some sprightly and loving kittens who gave me headbutts, and all of the cats were so laid back, happy and beautiful.Heaps of toys and catified furniture were present, and the cats were of course able to escape to privacy through a little door if they wished. Also what's fantastic is that this cat cafe includes several rescue cats who can be adopted. Many already have been, and it's no wonder, as they are so gorgeous!!!Thank you for this kittyful experience!

Clean and comfortable little cafe with beautiful cats. Can tell they’re been well looked after and enjoy the company of humans. Great for calming the stresses of life as taking some time out to enjoy just stroking and playing with the many cats. They all have different personalities but are all very chilled. No need to worry about being surrounded they all do there own thing and occasionally come up for a stroke. The lady was very informative and friendly and could tell you enjoyed her job and had the cats best interests at heart. vegan wrap yummy too!

I was always dubious of visiting a cat cafe because I imagined cat hair everywhere and not somewhere I’d want to eat. However, this place was immaculate. The lady working there was so friendly and seemed to love her job. I got a latte and a malteser traybake and both were lovely. The cats did their own thing and came up for a stroke every now and then, such a great place

My daughter took me here for the first time. I was not disappointed. It may be small but it was so comfortable and the gorgeous cats made it a wonderful experience. Contrary to what you might have expected, there were no animal smells and the café was spotlessly clean. We arrived to have lunch and had tea and toasted sandwiches - prepared for you. They were delicious. The cats are free to wander around the room. You are not allowed to pick them up, but you can stroke them, play with them and give them little titbits (given to you by the staff). A very relaxing and enjoyable experience which I intend to repeat. Just in case you prefer dogs, they have a similar café for you too.

We called into this café on our way to The Great Northern Museum. We ordered two coffees at the counter, but when we came to pay, we were told that cash was not accepted. This is a practice that we find quite deplorable so we left. It turned out well for us, because there was a café a few doors down which was very good and accepts cash.

Had high hopes for brunch at Eve but was a bit disappointed. We were seated straight away by a friendly young man. Probably sat for about 15-20 minutes without anyone approaching us for our order. I managed to get the hosts attention and he took the order for us. Seemed like there was a lot of staff but most of them lingered round the bar area. Saying that, their uniforms were odd, some were dressed in jeans/tshirts/aprons but none of them co ordinated so not always easy to identify who worked there and who didn’t. Pancakes were £11, were quite a small portion so not enough to fill you up. The live music was good but I’m not really sure it suited the vibe.
