Came for a birthday lunch while on holiday. I had my eye on Catch for a while as I love seafood and wanted some fresh seafood while away. I went for the Surf ‘n’ Turf Flatbread Mezze. It wasn’t for me but I think I just chose the wrong thing as everyone else on the table enjoyed theirs. There was nothing wrong with it, it was delicious just not really what I wanted. But that’s on me for panic-ordering 😂 my partner had the mussel and crab linguine which was incredible. The others at the table had the burger and chicken n chips which both looked good too. The service was also very friendly :) It’s a great spot for sure and I will be back.

Called in for a late lunch with the pup, I'd been craving fish and chips and we were not disappointed. We had the hummus and soup to start, both gluten free and I was amazed to learn the crispy onions were gluten free (after me asking and checking more than once!) The gluten free fish and chips was fabulous, crispy batter, good sized fish. My partner had the seafood linguine and said it was amazing, couldn't finish it so took the rest home for later. Very dog friendly, even brought a few biscuits over for the pup. Would recommend.

We have eaten here before and it has been amazing. What a difference this visit was! Waiter who served us was miserable and couldn’t care less attitude made him very unapproachable. Drinks order took ages to be taken. Despite the restaurant being virtually empty (15:30 in the afternoon). Food when it arrived was underwhelming. The fish was dry and the chips tasted odd. The pizza was tasteless and the burger was average. Needless to say we are unlikely to frequent again despite this being such a lovely location. We had spent a year looking forward to this visit only to be extremely disappointed.

This was recommended to us by family and what an amazing meal it was! Yes it's a bit pricey, but forget the cost, honestly the most incredible food we have had in a while! We walked away after having an amazing culinary experience - with a beautiful starter of crispy squid and hummus, followed by veggie fish and chips (halloumi) and the fish chowder! All of it was utterly stunning! Paired with a glass of lovely New Zealand Sauvignon and a Poupot. The service was great, the staff were attentive and made for good entertainment, although it was occasionally difficult to get their attention. But we kept in mind that we were a walk in and didn't book. Can't wait to go back!

This is not the place to go for settled mediocrity and an absence of weakness. There are flaws, mainly related to the service - drinks dumped unceremoniously on the table, distribute your own menus if you don't mind, etc. Anyway, all is forgiven as it's a new restaurant. However, much more importantly. It is the place to go if you want to see uncommon ambition in the kitchen, and when the chef pulls it off the results are fantastic. The steak was fantastic, the catch of the day was fantastic and the white chocolate bread and butter pudding divine. So, don't go if you like finding the odd flaw here or there. Do go if you want to enjoy just how far dining in this country has progressed in the last couple of decades. Bravo.

The restaurant's outdoor seating provided a stunning backdrop for a truly remarkable meal. Parking was easily accessible and free as we arrived slightly later in the evening. Every dish was a delight, especially the fresh and flavourful 'catch of the day' fish and chips. The drink menu was impressive, and the service was exceptional. The restaurant manager was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel like valued guests. While the dessert was delicious, it was a slightly smaller portion and the option of outdoor heating would have been ideal. Although on the pricier side, the overall experience, including the impeccable service and breathtaking views, was absolutely worth it.

The service is underground. As others have written (especially in the last few days), you are ignored. Even though it wasn't busy (only five tables occupied), the staff walked past our table several times without bringing a card. The card only came after a request from the neighboring table. The drinks were taken, but no one came to choose the food for a long time. So the decision was made to eat somewhere else. Who does not want it, already has it...

Do not go here. We waited with young children for over two hours for our food.ordered at 12.30. Food arrived 2.30. No apology. Despite asking where it was just dismissed with “ a few mins”. After 2 hours I complained to the manager who very rudely informed me “you were told there would be a delay because of kitchen problems”. This was an outright lie and when I found out waitress to confront her with this lie - the waitress confirming we were never told - she didn’t have the decency to even apologise and instead told me off for complaining about the wait! I couldn’t believe the audacity. They will shut down very soon with this attitude but in the meantime - pls don’t ruin your day by going there.

We never got our main meals! - Avoid The park is a much better option or the pub across the road. We have been coming to Mawgan Porth for a number years now and we tried catch as a “treat” for the last day of our holiday. Lovely position by the beach, but that is the only positive I have to say about this restaurant. It took ages to take the order, or even get the attention of the staff. We finally got starters, but the mains never arrived we waited over two hours, for the mains. I was standing by the kitchen when the staff chased the order and it hadn't even been started. I was then assured “10 minutes” 15 minutes later I was asssured it was on the plate…. Then we were brought the wrong food. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Awful and for the price i would expect much better. Had we known this we would have just got for a pizza at Cornish fresh which again is better than this place…. Avoid.

It took 3 requests to get some water and some glasses to drink it from. The food took an hour to come and again I had to chase it up. Mussels were cold and sent back, second portion also cold, I feel perhaps they had been pre cooked, chilled and thrown into the hot sauce at the last minute. My partner ordered the fish and chips, first portion luke warm, second attempt swimming in greece. Whilst I have sympathy for the lady trying to run the place, perhaps telling people on arrival that she was short staffed and a long wait was likely would have been helpful. Disappointing and Rude Service I had high hopes for trying the seafood at this restaurant, so I didn't mind driving 10 miles to get there. However, my experience was utterly disappointing before I could even look at the menu. When I arrived and politely asked for a table for one, the hostess inquired, if I had a reservation. Despite responding that I didn't, she flat-out refused to seat me, even though there were plenty of empty tables and benches available outside. I repeated my request, but she denied me service again without any explanation. It's baffling how a restaurant would turn away a potential customer like that, especially when they had ample seating. I didn't even get a chance to see if their food was any good because of the shockingly unwelcoming and dismissive attitude displayed by the hostess. I had a fantastic fish in the pub next door!

Ummm nah. Had been recommended this place, and I get it.....nice decor, great location.....all the right ingredients for a fab evening meal. But it was so average. Which we could've accepted if it wasn't for the hefty price tag. The 'chowder' is definitely not a chowder. 24 quid was an insult for this. It's more like a lazy moules mariniere with 3 very small lumps of fish in it. It was actually mostly padron peppers floating in cream. My other half can't eat peppers so that was a massive disappointment. Chips in rosemary very good and frito misto was tasty, but again not what I'd call a misto as such. Wouldn't go back. Not worth the money, as other reviews have stated.

Ok so firstly we did not have a reservation our fault, but we sat outside, whilst waiting several people came without pre booking, but we're offered a table inside, one couple even got free complimentary drinks even though they did not book, not once did the lady offer us a table if it became available, next the starters although very nice 2 x scallops for £14 thought was expensive, the squid was very nice. We then waited 20 mins for main course to arrive to say was disappointed was the understatement of the year fresh fish and chips the fish was ok but greasy and blaned even the rock salt did not lift it and worst still the frozen chips I questioned them only to be told they were pre cut from a reputable company, truthfully they were frozen kfc do the same type of chips and there bad, tartre sauce was nice but no taste to the food. Seafood linguine mmmm, no prawns, red salmon not very nice, a few muscles again very bland not seasoned if there was anyother seafood on the dish we could not find it. Whilst I appreciate the restaurant was busy it was the only one in the area, the road to Newquay was closed which is why we stopped there. We went to Catch with my husband and children, 20 and 17 for dinner. After reading the reviews we were looking forward to it but were very disappointed. We were told only 2 chefs were in, it made new think the head chef was off after we ordered. My son ordered chicken wings to start which were disgusting, they were beige, no flavour and were tasteless. My husbands calamari was good. I ordered the crab and mussel linguini and sent it back. There was no chilli in it, no crab and in a watery liquid, the linguini had been broken up into 2inch pieces. Another was made with a thick cream sauce, again no crab and a few green chilli’s, inedible. My husband had plaice which was tiny and new potatoes that were like school potatoes, for £30 it was a joke. We definitely wouldn’t recommend, top price for poor food. The only thing I can say is the waitress was lovely, a bit out of her depth when we complained, and another couple complained about their food, but nice girl. The service was too slow. Waited 40 minutes for the appetizer, another hour for the mains. The tomato soup for the starter was ok, but the crab roll for the main course was a bit dry despite having too much mayonnaise. Overall, the food seems to be overpriced.

The restaurant itself looks very cute and the staff is welcoming. As for the food, it was disappointing. Firstly, we waited an hour for our food even though the restaurant was half empty. After one hour I went to a counter and ask at the counter about our order. Secondly, the quality of the seafood is questionable. My friend ordered oysters and they were cloudy and tasted strange. The Fish & Chips and crab roll were edible, but nothing more. However, for such quality, they were definitely overpriced. I had the Chowder. It was tasty, but £24 for such a small bowl is a bit excessive. I'm unlikely to go here again.

Perhaps I was invisible. I sat waiting for my order to be taken for almost 20minutes. Three waitresses came out to attend to other sat nearby, once to ask if anybody needed more drinks which they didn’t. Nobody even look in my direction. Went to the pub opposite, fantastic service and great food.

A really nice little joint right next to the water and across from the beachfront. We had the fried calamari, the fish and chips and a rainbow salad along with a few drinks. The owner or chef came out and moved us around a bit to help us find a good spot in the sun out of the wind. All of the food was lovely, with generous servings and fresh fish. My beer (an Atlantic Ale) was also great. Next time I'll try the mussels, they looked good.

A modern trendy place with a great menu. Most was great but 2 meals of chowder were just 6 mussels and a few new potatoes . Cost: £24 per person. I complained but no one was interested in making this better.

Went to Mawgan Porth and found this superb little restaurant. We enquired about a late lunch early dinner with two dogs and couldn't have been made more welcome. The restaurant is bright and has lots of room, decorated with a coastal theme as you'd probably expect being right on the ⛱️beach. Food was superb, fish and chips, fish catch of the day (hake cooked to perfection) burgers and pizza, they have it all. Great young chef, lovely staff. If you're in the area you really should give it a go, you'll have missed it if you don't. We'll definitely be back.

We love this place. As locals, we come back time and again. Food, service and atmosphere always brilliant! The normal weekday menu and surf and turf’ dishes are great, Sunday roast always exceptional. Dogs always welcome and treated like special guests.

I think we must have been on a bad day. The food was nice, if somewhat pricey. However, the service was extremely disappointing. Our initial order was promptly dealt with, but we then waited 45 minutes for our plates to be cleared despite trying to attract staff's attention multiple times. Then had to ask for the dessert menu as it wasn't offered. Our waiter's "humour" was questionable, and he disappeared for a large chunk of time with no-one covering him and at no point was an apology made for the amount of time we had to wait. There were signs up advertising for "staff wanted", in my view this can't come soon enough!

Our last night of a week eating out in north Cornwall. This was the best! The freshest fish, beautifully cooked. Fish platter was simply perfect in a superb stock. The staff were up to speed and easy going. Could not have been better.

Amazing! Noticed this diner as we drove past & we’re so glad we decided to stop for a meal. As an American in England I was thrilled to find a genuine roadside diner, & even more so one with such great food. Beautifully presented & absolutely delicious—I only wish we lived closer. Highly recommend, the staff & atmosphere are great too.

Everything around the area was closed (in march) , glad to have a warm place to go to at First & Last. Ample parking space. Sunday roast was nice. Lasagna and soup - similar to something from the supermarket. Go for the Sunday roast.
