Really disappointing experience. Service was incredibly slow given the restaurant was very quiet. Food was very expensive. £22 for a very bland fish finger sandwich!! Chips were decent though. For smaller children (3-6) you can share a child's portion between 2 for anyone thinking of going. However, I'd just go to the pizza place a few doors down. You need to up your game if you're going to charge premium prices.

Popped in here with my sister and niece. Ava was a very friendly, smiley member of staff. She was very attentive with my niece. She got her colouring in pencils and paper and extra Ketchup when she needed it with her kids meal. I just had three oysters but they were delicious and fresh. Other members of staff were also friendly. Would hopefully come back here to eat dinner next time as the menu looks very good!

Long wait to order and even longer to deliver to table . Shame because the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and music . As local guests we probably wouldn’t go again

We had the most lovely lunch at Catch. The staff were so kind to our two daughters (four and seven) and let them play in the front hut to their great delight. All of our food was absolutely delicious. I had the catch of the day and it was stunning. My husband is not a massive fan of fish but even his pork dish was so skilfully made and tasty. I would recommend pre booking, which is fair enough given how great the food is and its location. Thank you so much Catch, we would definitely recommend!

We think that this was probably the best breakfast we have ever had. We sat on the deck in the sunshine. The service was really friendly and efficient. I had the croque monsieur and my wife had the foccacia, avocado, eggs and crab - both absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and so very tasty. Coffees were hot and perfectly made. We live just up the road and now very excited to be able to pop in for a real treat. We would highly recommend. Slightly on the more expensive side but absolutely worth it. Thanks so much!

Had friends down for the weekend & couldnt get in a highly recommended restaurant so booked here as our friends like good food. Arrived for our 7.30 booking on saturday night 4 mins early informedctable was being readied so asked to sit outside on sofas which were grubby & covered in bird mess. Werent offered a drink so as there was now a que to get in we entered the restaurant through the other door which was propped open waitress was just inside but we were told someone should come & take our order we could see the bar and asked if we could go through to order & see what drinks they had, No we were told, someone will be along! We explained we had been waiting & no one had & we hadnt even been given menus etc. NO you have to sit & wait. Hmmm annoying. We waited & no one came then a lady told us our table was now 'ready' so we went in after being seated we waited (still not offered drinks & no menus then I caught a young girl who got us some menus, the table was like a large table for 8 split slightly in the middle & a couple were on the other half.we eventually ordered & asked what the fish options were well you could have battered hake grilled hake or hake! Or roasted sea Bream which took about 30 mins. Any monkfish or Turbot etc I asked? No just Hake! So 3 of our group of 4 just ordered fish n chips (Hake of course!) I decided to try Lobster as only had it once as a Thermidor., we skipped starters as our confidence was at zero. The food arrived & no cutlery & when we asked for it they seem suprised (I thought they were dressing our table?@ I asked the waitress if they could dress my crab & open the claw s I had never done it but it wasnt done & when I.mentioned it the same lady said you have a cracker & a pick.hmm well my wife has arthritis & couldnt do that if it was hers! Then I tried to eat it the body section was full of much & shell & the other half was dry & very chewy. I told the lady it wasnt great & they offered me a replacement so I asked for sea bream only to be told it would be 30 mins & tricky so they recommended pan fried HAKE this came with no sauce & the bed of chewy greasy 'veg' it was on was inedible my wifes fish n chips came out with NO PEAS which was eventually remedied. We all had empty glasses & no one offered any further drinks all evening. We thought of skipping desert & geting out but me & my friend decided to have the sticky toffee pud after the pleasant young waitress said it was her fave. No custard bur cream or ice cream. A good portion but cold & a bit dry & when she asked how it was I said it was cold & she said its meant to be warm! The couple next to us were foreign & waited ages for 2 cokes & left early hardly touching their meal & didnt seem happy. Maybe the chefs absent? Well no further drinks or coffees were offered so we got the £150 bill which tbh we should of refused to pay but had they been more attentive this could of been £250 easily. N.B. i tried to phone before writing this to speak to the manager or owner but was told there are numerous managers & they didnt know who the owner was? So I said ok then I will leave my honest review. Avoid this place. Dave W Cornwall Ok

Sadly Catch is so hit and miss, you could have a great meal and impeccable service one day, return and it’s the opposite. Sadly today was the latter so won’t be returning.

The catch of day was good. Fish fresh. The crab was fresh. Such a shame the linguine came late, due to missed order. It also had the same sauce as the peas in fish of day. Mint and crab in a seafood linguine was unexpected and not on a good way. Basics are good, needs better management.

Overcooked and bland pasta, tiny fritto misto and tasteless crab….. have been going for several years but the chef is very hit and miss. Staff and venue are excellent though, just a shame with the prices as high as they are. At Catch you don’t know what sort of meal you are going to get; even the Lobster Shed at The Pig Hotel down the road is cheaper and more reliable.

From the start to the end of our meal, it was amazing! Super lovely staff that did more than enough for it and made sure we were happy with everything! The food was absolutely perfect, well seasoned and mouth watering, drinks were flowing, the atmosphere was lovely! Desserts were to die for! Gorgeous location, we will be back soon! Great family restaurant and pet friendly. The food was good and portions were very generous.

This place uses reasonably high quality ingredients but is let down by very amateur "cooks" (no actual chef would accept that poor of an end product to leave their kitchen) Bland and overcooked on all the seafood dishes we had. The sticky wings were decent to be fair but the batter they use on the fish was tasteless and soggy. Very disappointing. Cost is very high for mediocre food. The worst thing was the service, although all the staff were friendly and polite which we appreciate the waiter somehow forgot to put both our kids starters and mains through to the kitchen meaning we had to wait 15 minutes for the kids food on both courses by which time my wife's and my food was cold. there is far better places to eat very close by for much better prices and higher quality food

Very long wait for food 1hr for starters, 1hr 45 for main, food over cooked mackerel dry, fish in batter soggy, very disappointing as been here lots of times, staff were excellent took food off our bill, and were very polite, said new menu and normal chef away but no excuses as it was Easter so I knew it would be busy,

Extremely overpriced for average food. I asked for a smashed burger and when it came it wasn’t smashed and had half a bag of lettuce in it. My sticky toffee was extremely dry and tasteless and the sauce was cold and had very little of it. The service is also very slow there. However the chips there are great.

The staff were very friendly and helpful but the food is overpriced and tasteless. My wife had the fish and chips, which at £23 is expensive and the quality was poor. I had the mackerel (at £38) and it was completely tasteless, both the fish and vegetables. My biggest regret is that I was too British and did not tell the staff how disappointing the meal was (we had our 2 young children with us and they get embarrassed when we ask or mention anything). We eaten here several times in the past (3 years ago) and it was better value then. I wouldn't recommend this place at all, for either quality or value.

We booked here as we we’re staying close by for my Mothers 80th birthday. The starters were lovely but the main courses were poor. My sister had belly pork which had a fur ball with it. It was a matted lump of hair. My Mum had steak which she ordered well done but came raw. We called the manager over when we found the fur ball but she never apologised and more or less said we must have put it there. Her attitude was appalling. It was supposed to be a lovely lunch for my Mum. But turned out to be a disaster - but I suppose one she won’t forget.

£46 for 1xfish and chips and one extra portion of fish to takeaway and eat on the beach! When we questioned the price, having expected to pay £20 - £25 for our order the front of house chap was rather rude. Generally a very unpleasant experience at Catch. Won’t be returning and made sure we have told all our friends (we are locals) to avoid the rip off merchants too. No wonder tourists are saying Cornwall has gotten up itself and is a rip off.

Unfortunately disappointed. When we first arrived the setting was lovely, friendly staff and overall nothing out of the norm. However when the food turned up it was simply not good enough. Charging high end prices for not low quality food The food was okay but definitely not worth the money. It was 14 pounds for prawns as starter. When it came out, the size of them, I couldn’t believe it. I spent more time taking the shell off them then eating it. They were minuscule as well as having a lot of larvae on. For main I had the chicken, which was actually not bad. It was well seasoned and the chips were good but again way too highly priced for what it was. They need to sort that kitchen out or at least lower the prices because the location is lovely and well as the staff.

The food was fantastic, the service not too bad and the atmosphere ok, the beach made for a great addition but the restaurant itself could have been more lively.

Came for a birthday lunch while on holiday. I had my eye on Catch for a while as I love seafood and wanted some fresh seafood while away. I went for the Surf ‘n’ Turf Flatbread Mezze. It wasn’t for me but I think I just chose the wrong thing as everyone else on the table enjoyed theirs. There was nothing wrong with it, it was delicious just not really what I wanted. But that’s on me for panic-ordering 😂 my partner had the mussel and crab linguine which was incredible. The others at the table had the burger and chicken n chips which both looked good too. The service was also very friendly :) It’s a great spot for sure and I will be back.

Called in for a late lunch with the pup, I'd been craving fish and chips and we were not disappointed. We had the hummus and soup to start, both gluten free and I was amazed to learn the crispy onions were gluten free (after me asking and checking more than once!) The gluten free fish and chips was fabulous, crispy batter, good sized fish. My partner had the seafood linguine and said it was amazing, couldn't finish it so took the rest home for later. Very dog friendly, even brought a few biscuits over for the pup. Would recommend.

Sat outside here in November after walking some of the coastal path. Lovely setting for a hot drink and cake.

After a dire experience at Wax in Watergate Bay (walked out), a quick phonecall to Catch had us a last minute table. The staff were incredibly accommodating for such short notice and made us feel very welcome, the atmosphere was great, and the food fantastic. The coconut curry was excellent.

We went here for lunch. It was very quiet given the time of year (October) but the food was delicious and the staff were so accommodating and friendly. We had oysters, hake and chips and crab burger. All of the food was so fresh and well prepared. We couldn’t understand the 4.1 star rating when we left as it was a lovely experience and we will definitely come back next time we are in the area. Only constructive feedback would be to refresh the laminated menus, they were a bit grubby!

Great service very quick and genuine Kitchen timing on bringing out food was not great as partner finished his dinner before I had mine due to being returned for being undercooked did find cheff more interested in looking at surf conditions although. The service staff where very quick to correct any problems we had Regardless to timings starter dish of the (scolaps and chorizo) was lovely

We have eaten here before and it has been amazing. What a difference this visit was! Waiter who served us was miserable and couldn’t care less attitude made him very unapproachable. Drinks order took ages to be taken. Despite the restaurant being virtually empty (15:30 in the afternoon). Food when it arrived was underwhelming. The fish was dry and the chips tasted odd. The pizza was tasteless and the burger was average. Needless to say we are unlikely to frequent again despite this being such a lovely location. We had spent a year looking forward to this visit only to be extremely disappointed.

poor service from surly grumpy waiter who took our orders with a 'humph'. Despite only having 4 (inc us) tables occupied we had to search for someone to take our drinks order & then again to order food. Food passable but not what we've experienced in the past here, oil needs changing in fryers it left a bitter after taste on the batter. unlikely to return tbh

This was recommended to us by family and what an amazing meal it was! Yes it's a bit pricey, but forget the cost, honestly the most incredible food we have had in a while! We walked away after having an amazing culinary experience - with a beautiful starter of crispy squid and hummus, followed by veggie fish and chips (halloumi) and the fish chowder! All of it was utterly stunning! Paired with a glass of lovely New Zealand Sauvignon and a Poupot. The service was great, the staff were attentive and made for good entertainment, although it was occasionally difficult to get their attention. But we kept in mind that we were a walk in and didn't book. Can't wait to go back!

This is not the place to go for settled mediocrity and an absence of weakness. There are flaws, mainly related to the service - drinks dumped unceremoniously on the table, distribute your own menus if you don't mind, etc. Anyway, all is forgiven as it's a new restaurant. However, much more importantly. It is the place to go if you want to see uncommon ambition in the kitchen, and when the chef pulls it off the results are fantastic. The steak was fantastic, the catch of the day was fantastic and the white chocolate bread and butter pudding divine. So, don't go if you like finding the odd flaw here or there. Do go if you want to enjoy just how far dining in this country has progressed in the last couple of decades. Bravo.

I do understand some comments that food can take a long time to arrive but bear in mind this is a hit spot for families (4+)...the place was full of families so imagine how many orders you gotta have in a day. Our food was amazing, we ordered a lot of seafood starters and some mains and all was delicious. It's well worth visiting

The restaurant's outdoor seating provided a stunning backdrop for a truly remarkable meal. Parking was easily accessible and free as we arrived slightly later in the evening. Every dish was a delight, especially the fresh and flavourful 'catch of the day' fish and chips. The drink menu was impressive, and the service was exceptional. The restaurant manager was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel like valued guests. While the dessert was delicious, it was a slightly smaller portion and the option of outdoor heating would have been ideal. Although on the pricier side, the overall experience, including the impeccable service and breathtaking views, was absolutely worth it.

We are family of 4 spend £235 afternoons around 3:30, not a busy time. Service there was not good at all, had my drinks ordered first place, it takes long time after starter finished. They all went somewhere. Staff wondering around doing nothing. Have to call several time to get them attention and it seen no one wanting to serve the table. Food overcooked like kind of BBQ dark bread Has to ask for exchange. End up had different bread, avoid. Avoid

The service is underground. As others have written (especially in the last few days), you are ignored. Even though it wasn't busy (only five tables occupied), the staff walked past our table several times without bringing a card. The card only came after a request from the neighboring table. The drinks were taken, but no one came to choose the food for a long time. So the decision was made to eat somewhere else. Who does not want it, already has it...

We never got our main meals! - Avoid The park is a much better option or the pub across the road. We have been coming to Mawgan Porth for a number years now and we tried catch as a “treat” for the last day of our holiday. Lovely position by the beach, but that is the only positive I have to say about this restaurant. It took ages to take the order, or even get the attention of the staff. We finally got starters, but the mains never arrived we waited over two hours, for the mains. I was standing by the kitchen when the staff chased the order and it hadn't even been started. I was then assured “10 minutes” 15 minutes later I was asssured it was on the plate…. Then we were brought the wrong food. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Awful and for the price i would expect much better. Had we known this we would have just got for a pizza at Cornish fresh which again is better than this place…. Avoid.

Do not go here. We waited with young children for over two hours for our food.ordered at 12.30. Food arrived 2.30. No apology. Despite asking where it was just dismissed with “ a few mins”. After 2 hours I complained to the manager who very rudely informed me “you were told there would be a delay because of kitchen problems”. This was an outright lie and when I found out waitress to confront her with this lie - the waitress confirming we were never told - she didn’t have the decency to even apologise and instead told me off for complaining about the wait! I couldn’t believe the audacity. They will shut down very soon with this attitude but in the meantime - pls don’t ruin your day by going there.

Shell-shocked staff doing their best to stop a sinking ship. Food took an age to arrive which greatly differed from the description on the menu or photos on their website. Complaints from other tables could be heard all around us and with no little wonder. Waiting staff were dignified and apologetic and did not dodge the flying bullets that were going off around them.

Been going here for nearly eight years now and don’t normally write reviews. Service is appalling and no recognition of the wait for largely young families to be fed. Sat down at 7.30 and were served well after 10pm. Hopefully owners will do something rather than the same trite replies

Oh my, do book early, as you’ll be in for a LONG wait at this restaurant. When they say it’s the fresh catch of the day, I didn’t realise they would be literally setting sail when we ordered. It was hours until our order arrived. We weren’t alone either, the vibe in the whole place was grumpy. We were celebrating my wife’s 52nd birthday, by the time we left she was closer to 60! Poor staff, they were heads down, dodging the bullets. I hope this was an off night. I’ll be fishing for my own supper next time.

Fabulous meal. Helpful, friendly staff who went above and beyond to accommodate us and our dogs and a great atmosphere. The menu has some really interesting dishes on offer, not just the usual boring fare you often find. We went quite late in the evening and when we arrived it was absolutely buzzing. Brilliant find and we'll definitely return on our next holiday to Cornwall.

Great food and friendly staff. Lovely fish and chips. They have a ramp to the decking area and door and one table inside that is wheelchair accessible so I'd recommend booking in advance if you are a wheelchair user that prefers to eat inside.

The venue looks the part but I was disappointed with the food. The crab sandwich had more green leaves than crab and my partners chowder contained potatoes that were barely cooked. Given the prices this was quite disappointing

Absolutely stunning breakfast went there by accident because wife forgot to bring our breakfast of Greek yogurt and granola so we pop in after a swim with the dogs and oh my god going back tomorrow superb

Just had lunch there and the service was absolutely terrible. We sat outside and I had to go in to request menus as we were completely ignored. Then waited ages for our order to be taken and had to ask twice before someone eventually took it. Our drinks took 40 minutes to arrive and I had to chase them in twice. It took 3 requests to get some water and some glasses to drink it from. The food took an hour to come and again I had to chase it up. The staff seemed to have no idea of providing any sort of service. My husband said his fish and chips were awful. Huge shame as its a lovely setting and we previously had dinner there a couple of years ago and it was very good. Would definitely not recommend it now.

Wonderful restaurant in one of my favourite locations. The service and the food were both incredible.

We visited the Restaurant on a wet Friday afternoon, we were greeted and given a table for myself, my partner and our sopping wet pooch. We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating for both us and our pup. The food was delightful, I ordered the "Grilled daily catch" on this particular day the fish was Hake served with wilted vegetables and fries, fish was well cooked and fresh, the greens were seasoned well and delicous. Friendly staff, dog friendly, great food 5 🌟

Beautiful lunch at Catch this afternoon. Dog Friendly. From the minute we entered the staff were welcoming, friendly, full of knowledge and that continued during our service. Starters muscles and scallops full of flavour, mains curry and linguine all generous portions. The chef catered to my partners food intolerances, we could not of asked for more. The adaptions kept meals full of flavour. Highly recommend visiting, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to return.

Ate here a couple of times and both experiences were very different, but I would still go back (for dinner but not breakfast). Dinner was lovely- some people in my group had the fish, which was cooked well. I had the vegan chickpea curry, which was delicious. Service was great and the atmosphere and view was lovely. However, breakfast was a different story- burnt toast, missing components, missing orders, and 1 person had to wait 10 minutes after everyone started eating before getting their food… Service still good and they took food off the bill which was very decent of them.

Would highly recommend. We dined at 8pm - 4 adults and 2 six year old boys. The food came out quickly, was hot and exceptionally tasty. We ordered mussels, squid and the miso Frito starters then the seafood linguini main. This was super fresh and tasty. The wine was lovely too. The staff were very accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us.

We found a table and sat down, there were plenty of tables. My husband got the menus; admittedly we had not made a booking but it wasn’t particularly late. One waitress came over and asked us if we had made a booking, we said we had not. We can’t possibly serve you please leave; so we did. It was noticed by the next table, the lady looked shocked. Urgent improvements in customer service needed….

Great food well cooked and presented, helpful friendly staff, what else is there!

Food was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced however some things to mention, whilst it looks open you cannot place any food ordered until 5pm and the staff where very slow to take orders. We waited 30 minutes to be asked what we wanted. That said, it is clean and modern inside and the food was nice and tasty. Solve the time and staff issue and you will have yourself a 5 star restaurant.

Front of house man Gareth is very friendly and amusing. The food and service is excellent and unobtrusive. We had the Misto Frito starter and Grilled catch of the day plus a seafood linguine. All perfectly cooked and served. Delicious! We will return!!

Went for lunch, lovely spot. Starters were OK, mains could only be described as awful. Mussels were cold and sent back, second portion also cold, I feel perhaps they had been pre cooked, chilled and thrown into the hot sauce at the last minute. My partner ordered the fish and chips, first portion luke warm, second attempt swimming in greece. Whilst I have sympathy for the lady trying to run the place, perhaps telling people on arrival that she was short staffed and a long wait was likely would have been helpful. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive food slower still. Other people seemed to be having similar issues. Service is dreadful.

Great food but really terrible service 2 years in a row. Waiting for food for over an hour isn’t really acceptable and neither is waiting 30 mins + just for drinks, especially when its not particularly busy. Used to love coming but has really gone down hill. Please sort it out, used to be a great place for food anytime of day.

Absolutely terrible service, there was only 4 tables at the time we were there and it took 30 mins for our drinks to arrive. Then when the food eventually arrived 4 out the 8 of us had very disappointing meals and had to complaint (we never complain). During which time another round of drinks ordered got forgotten! The venue and menu looked so promising but failed by a long ling way to deliver.

Disappointing and Rude Service I had high hopes for trying the seafood at this restaurant, so I didn't mind driving 10 miles to get there. However, my experience was utterly disappointing before I could even look at the menu. When I arrived and politely asked for a table for one, the hostess inquired, if I had a reservation. Despite responding that I didn't, she flat-out refused to seat me, even though there were plenty of empty tables and benches available outside. I repeated my request, but she denied me service again without any explanation. It's baffling how a restaurant would turn away a potential customer like that, especially when they had ample seating. I didn't even get a chance to see if their food was any good because of the shockingly unwelcoming and dismissive attitude displayed by the hostess. I had a fantastic fish in the pub next door!

Visited for a birthday celebration and were left somewhat disappointed. The catch of the day fish was quite well received however the curry and linguine were unfortunately both quite bland. For the price it certainly wasn't good enough. The service was friendly but not very well organised, with plates being cleared before everyone on the table had finished and starters arriving at different times. I were shocked that a pint of lime and lemonade to cost £6.50. This is simply ridiculous, and by far the most expensive I have ever experienced in any restaurant.

Had two great dinners here and the food was delicious and well priced. It’s not far from the beach and the coastal path so the view is great. But you do need to book if it’s a weekend/ peak season.

This was the third place we’ve eaten at in the area. The setting and ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. Unfortunately the service although polite was extremely slow. We dined at 6:30 and the restaurant was only a quarter full but not enough staff to cope. We waited a good 40 minutes for our main dish and then a good thirty minutes just for the dessert menu. The food was cooked well but potions were very small and the men in the group were disappointed. Dessert unfortunately were very disappointing and we had far better in the pub just a few paces along the road. Probably wouldn’t go back as the pub served better food and of a higher quality.
