Met up with friends that we haven't seen for 4 years. So a meet up at the cat and fiddle. Was so surprised it had had a makeover. It was clean bright and wonderful staff and excellent meals for all 6 of us. Thank you we will be back soon x

A good affordable pub that has a local, relaxed feel

The food and service never fails here. Always a friendly atmosphere, sports TV a bonus for our footie fan son and the quiz night is always enjoyable.

Not for me, majority of seating is bar stools. Can't comment on anything more as I turned around and left when I had little choice for seating on a normal chair

Went on a Sunday for a pub lunch food was perfect for myself and the fella loved his build a burger that he doubled up for just an extra £1.... Wasn't too busy was very happy overall

Fantastic service provided to us when we had a wake there last week. The staff and management couldn't do enough to support us and the buffet was amazing. Would highly recommend this pub and the main food served is also really good. Children welcome and great atmosphere

Food was poor quality, service was very poor. There was only 2 people serving the bar and food.we where seated near the ladies toilets and you could hear the hand drier when it was being used.the lady serving the food went to the toilet and we never heard the hand drier being used.

Out for a wonderful lunch with Mum and Dad 😘 It was absolutely brilliant... Great pub, warm and friendly welcome from Jacko and all his team. The burgers are banging!! Absolutely gorgeous, really tasty and meaty! Scampi and chips super scrumptious and Cumberland sausage mash and Yorkshire absolutely yummy! Food service excellent, came out quickly and perfectly cooked. The young lady who served our food was so polite and attentive coming back a short time later to ask if everything was ok with our meals and Jacko kindly brought our drinks to our table Very impressed 👍 definitely recommend and definitely coming back Thank you, Lorna 😘xx

We have had quite a few meals here, and have never had cause to complain. We have never had to wait long for our food, which has always been nice. The staff are nice as well. :)

Really enjoyed the Formula 1 Grand Prix breakfast . Jacko and the staff are fantastic hosts. Great atmosphere with great food and service.

We had a big group for a family lunch and to watch the football. Great food and the staff were brilliant. It’s an excellent place to watch football and eat some gorgeous grub!

We came for late lunch early dinner to watch the FA Cup semi final. Great place to watch sport, food was spot on and tasted good. I had the halloumi kebab which was lively and the staff (Stuart in particular) really looked after our group.

Came for a family meal and to watch football. Food was tasty and the waiting time was great. Younger kids went out on the playground in between main meal and dessert. Football was on all tvs and on request they kindly turned one TV to another game to suit customers. Great afternoon. Stuart was a fantastic host

Nipped in with a friend and the children for lunch. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Food & drinks were easy to order. Fast service. Will visit again.

Sadly after the refurb this newly introduced menu is disappointing. Wouldn’t mind paying that bit extra for better food. The nachos used to be good and now everything is from the packet and really low quality. My fish and chips were so bad I left the fish and only ate the chips. A shame that we will no longer eat there. Staff are nice and it’s ok for just a drink. *Edited for clarity

Food was good..... we were served by a lovely lady called Rhea, who was fantastic!! Added happy birthday in chocolate sauce to my lads pudding when she new it was his birthday.... such a lovely touch!! Thanks Rhea ❤️

Very much a chain pub, reasonable prices. Extensive menu, food is fine but nothing special, moderate portion size.

Early visit for the F1 and breakfast. Really clean pub inside and out, good facilities, well managed and organised. Staff couldn't do enough, and especially impressive that time of morning (6am). Breakfast was a great size, very fresh ingredients, and perfectly timmed and tasted great. Will be going back.. Thanks for great hospitality.

Superb morning at the Cat & Fiddle. Showing the Japanese F1 Live, nice 6am start... excellent and attentive host. Superb full English and great value for money. Highly recommend a visit, sports fan or not, the place has a friendly atmosphere, good menu and an array of live sports.

When for the F1 Japanese GP this morning and got to say food & staff where fabulous the food was great value for money and just how you want it to be would highly recommend going to the cat & fiddle sport fan or not will definitely being to the next one in 2weeks time 👀

Just had two sunday dinners turkey and a beef . Had been a couple of times during the week and were really impressed so we thought we'd try rhe sunday dinners . It was extremely busy so we were glad that we had booked. The staff were very pleasant and our meals were brought out very quickly. Beautifully presented and the food was really amazing for the price . My only bug bear was it could have been a tad hotter but was warm enough not to disappoint and it was very busy. Dont know how the staff manage with smiles on.their faces run off their feet. In fact the standard was so good that we would def consider booking for Christmas day as other places we have been to before have been awful. The cat and fiddle would put them to shame .

Amazing. The landlord squeezed 14 of us in at the last minute, which was very much appreciated. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Highly recommended.

Bought Mum for Morher’s was very busy but and all tables were reserved but they still fount us a table and also got treated to pigs in blanket to go with our dinner! Amazing pub with great staff and the manager has turned this place round for sure and should be proud! 👊🏻 😊

Nice pub, friendly helpful staff. It's a Greene king so you know what to expect. Good food for the prices. Big portions and the pubs been recently renovated and looks great.

Went here a month ago 10 feb lovley rump steak medium ordered it today was raw and cold and fatty had to stop eating it told waitress when she cleared away told manager who was very apologetic and refund my meal lm not a complainer but spoilt night out he said it was not cooked enough so was satisfied but then 2 women came in with a dog and ordered 3 meals 1 for dog and was feeding dog off fork then put plate on chair for it to eat of pub plate this is wrong l have my sons dog but would never let it do that even when they dish washed why didt they bring dogs bowl totally wrong wont go again

We visited for food and drinks as a family very last minute and rang to make sure we could get a table booked and what more can you say but perfect Staff very friendly and helpful, food came out quickly and cooked perfectly Along with fantastic offers for food and drinks using the green king app Lovely atmosphere in the pub and look forward to visiting again soon

Lovely refurbishment! Looks stylish but still a warm, welcoming local. Staff all attentive and friendly, always go above and beyond to accommodate any request, whether this be for seating or for food adjustments. The outdoor area is fantastic. Lots of undercover seating with heaters and a large screen TV for sporting/ special events. Nice play area for the children too. The landlord is amazing. Always takes the time to speak to his customers and although he is friendly with the locals, they don't get preferential treatment which is often found in village locals and is fantastic to see. Drop in for a pint/ meal and a game of pool or darts, there's always somebody around who is willing to play. Basically, I love my local ❤️

Been wanting to visit for a while when I did arrive staff were pleasant, didn't wait long for food but it wasn't very hot, the seats we first sat in were dirty with food stuck on them. Been to worse places.

Recently refurbished, looking good

1st time we've been in since the Refurbishment, it's been made very nice , the food was excellent & reasonably priced, the service & staff were very good, & it's got a lovely atmosphere will definitely be visiting again

No longer a drinking pub, now a restaurant pub. Heart and soul gone. Decent and cheap Guinness but the days of the local quiet pub with enough seats and cards/pool/dominos are long over. Looks to be doing a roaring trade but it's not for me. I'll go to..........well, nowhere else because bulls head and castle have gone, carpenters is about 6 days ride on a fast 'ose and me mam dunt want me in before 10pm. Ah be rate, mixed grill we 2 eggs please duck.

Was quiet when we went. A few kids were running about which would have been an issue if it was busier.

If I could have given 0 i would. Poor service and very bad staff and even worse management Terrible pub and would avoid it like the plague. Got food poisoning on more than one occasion. Pipes are not cleaned regularly so beer can leave you feeling pretty rough aswell.

Great local pub, good for dining in and also having a drink with friends. Good for watching sports but a limited beer selection, though good for larger drinks. Good staff service and the meals looked very good though didn't eat during visit.

I used to loved the food, loved the service and love the atmosphere but the reason for the 2 star review is because the refurb has let the amazing pub down. Was so much better pre-refurb and was a really pleasant place to bring family and friends. The menu was more impressive and there was more space instead of being all cramped into one section of the establishment. As a pre-refurb cat and fiddle lover, I hope things will change as I loved to go there with family and friends. 😔

My local pub. Food and drinks are great and not too expensive, there is always daily specials on throughout the week. Quick service and friendly staff in a warm and friendly atmosphere. At times however, it can get rather busy and crowded so be prepared for a wait, but when the food arrives you will not be disappointed. Large carpark, play area for kids and a bar for playing pool. Just had a revamp so the place is even nicer

Great food, good value, good service 👍✌️ They are now re-open after completing the refurbishments and it has a lovely interior and beer garden for the summers

The Cat and Fiddle has been a local watering hole for Kirk Hallam residents for years. It’s had some sketchy moments in the past, but seems to have turned over a new leaf. Lovely no nonsense food and friendly staff, perfect Sunday afternoon really. Brought my mum here for a Sunday dinner and we were really impressed with both the food and the value. Would highly recommend!

From walking to the pub it felt welcoming and relaxed,the food was lovely and tasty well recommended.

Since the refurbishment we haven't been impressed. It is not very family friendly, the restaurant section is not big enough and the lay out seems odd. We won't be returning anymore which is very sad as it used to be our favourite place to eat.

Amazing Sunday roast, turkey wasn’t dry, great prices, friendly manager.

Came for 30th birthday meal and everything was fantastic. The service was flawless nothing was to much trouble and the food arrived all together and was hot not one person had any complaints and with two kids there thats rare! We all loved the refurb thank you again for an amazing night !!!

Good food, good service, but I can't understand why you would swap the bar and the restaurant. The restaurant side now smaller and only has urinals in the gents which is no good for small children. A poor choice during the refurb.

Lovely pub and restaurant, food was great, staff very friendly and Jack was very attentive. Overall a smashing experience and we will definitely be back.

Came on Saturday to have a late lunch and watch the sport, the food was gorgeous would recommend the kebabs and the onion rings were spot on! Really nice atmosphere staff were attentive would come back

Had two fantastic meals there this week. The food was spot on and the refurb has really lifted the place. It has a really nice atmosphere and the staff are so friendly. It is great to have such a lovely community pub nearby.

Had two breakfasts girl behind said no waiting took 40 min to come and beans and bacon cold . Waiter fetched put cutlery was wet no napkins . Said was no brown sauce then he found some . He came and asked how all was told him what was wrong offered us free drinks . Not all about that sure need look at cooks

we had a table booked for 10 the staff where so polight and nothing was a problem. Very good with children and the food was lovely and came all at the same time. Excellent value for the money.

Just returned from a Sunday lunch at the newly refurbished Cat and Fiddle,pub looking great,4 of us ordered Sunday roasts they did not disappoint,excellent value as well either £8.50 each or 2 for £11.99 normally pay between £12-£15 per meal at other local pubs,food and servi were brilliant,would recommend and definitely be returning

Food on Saturday afternoon was absolutely spot on, compliments to the kitchen staff. The pub was extremely busy but staff couldn’t be more helpful. Quick service even under pressure. The refurb seems to have done the pub the world of good and it was great to see my local doing so well. Hats off to Jacko and all the team, you’re smashing it!

Wednesday lunchtime.. Had a burger with fries and onion rings.. bacon and fried egg on top .. VERY SUBSTANTIAL.. very good quality.. and for £5.. Exceptional value. Staff were pleasant and attentive... very pleased with my visit.

Attended the re opening night and what a transformation. This place now looks the part, bright welcoming and set out with loads of room for drinkers. With loads of screens for the sport and the outside now looks welcoming and a bit of a wow within the local area . Going to be back soon with all the entertainment advertised nice to get out ans enjoy a good drink, good surroundings and watch a bit of live music. There was loads of staff on, which was a nice change to most pubs these days ! Cracking place , well worth a visit . One of the best points was the personal welcome from the managers , thanking everyone for coming along ….. now that’s something different and welcomed ! Hopefully see you soon

Great pub prior to refurb, even better after, good food great staff, great atmosphere at weekends especially now there’s live acts on a Saturday

Came to have a family meal, ordered 5 meals 2 were the turkey Sunday dinners waited about 40 minutes for the food to come out, when it came out there was no mash, stuffing or pig in blanket on the plate, I went to the bar to see why and the lady behind the bar said they had ran out and we should have been told, if we had have we would have ordered something different. On going back to the table both people said the turkey was cold and the roast potatoes weren't very nice so I went back to the bar this time a man said the manager would come and sort it out, I went and finished my food which wasn't great either to be honest, 10 minutes later I had to go back to the bar to see what was happening. The lady behind the bar apologised and asked what they wanted instead, which was great but we had all finished and ready to go but had to wait another 20 minutes for the the other two meals to be eatten on there own, we had to order more drinks meaning we spent nearly £80 in there, all in all not a great experience. I also noticed the 2 Sunday lunches for £11.99 were actually charged at full price.
