It was very good because there was a lovely lady called Lynne, who served us and made us laugh. Food was very nice, filling and hot. Enjoyed the warm, cosy fire and the soft seats. I will definitely remember this evening very well.

Booked two night stay b&b. We ate in the pub both nights. Have to say this place is a little gem! From the warm welcome, friendly staff, clean comfortable accommodation and exceptional food we couldn’t fault anything.

Chose this pub on the basis of location and quirky name. We weren't disappointed; positives were friendly attentive service and the pleasant, quiet environment. Our room was rather small and cramped - but the bed was a good size and comfortable - and we thought a few more homely touches would not have gone amiss. Both dinner and breakfast were good and a cut or two above the average, so all in all a very enjoyable stay

We stayed for the night. Had the evening meal which was okay but not particularly good value for money. The bedroom needed attention. The heating didn’t work so watching tv in the room was cold..however, the duvet was lovely and warm and we slept well. Next mornings breakfast was excellent. Staff were good and helpful.

What a fantastic country pub, all staff were simply amazing, friendly, attentive, happy and much more, food was amazing, every inch of 5 star quality, our room which was "Rose Garden" was quaint and very cosy. The location to Highgrove was superb, not long distance travel to get there, the weather was superb and the outside seating areas were in full sun, I would definitely recommend this place for a visit, as I've previously said the staff were amazing especially Lynn who greeted us every morning for breakfast with a beaming smile on her face and nothing was too much trouble for her, she looked after us impeccably and was very efficient "The hostess with the mostess" also Paul the Assistant Manager who's knowledge of the menu and local area was first class, he was also exceptionally polite and we shared "good banter". Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which was for my wife's birthday, and will DEFINITELY be returning. Thank you all once again, Paul & Tracy

Sadly the Cat and Custard makes not even the faintest attempt to hide that casual drinkers are not welcome. The beer isn’t kept well which my guts will testify to. Used to be a great locals pub but sadly unless you’re dining they’re not interested.

Went for a meal with friends . I can only comment on my meal which for the price, £22 I thought was poor. I had pork belly which came with mash and on this occasion cabbage as they had ran out of chard. The Pork was a tasteless piece of fat about 2 inches in size with a chewy skin on top. The cabbage needed a search and rescue team to find it on the plate. Some how the mash resembled and tasted like an undercooked pancake. Watercress on the plate had a balsamic dressing and this mixed with the gravy was a weird combination. Nobody came and asked if everything was ok during the meal and afterwards I told the waitress she gave the usual "I'll tell someone " who obviously didn't care less as nobody had the courtesy to come and speak to me about it. All round pretty poor

We entertained old friends here. The first impression when arriving in the pub was ‘comfy and welcoming’. Everything about our visit was top class - very attentive staff (what a welcome change); short but very appealing menu for all tastes; prompt attention to serving drinks, timely serving of each course. Top marks to all the staff. 👏👏👏

Disappointed. Had a lovely weekend away in the area. Stopped at this place for Sunday dinner. Had high hopes with it being busy. Took a while to be acknowledged whilst standing in the pub to be seated. Got seated in a doorway as part of a table for two. Ordered two Sunday dinners for myself and girlfriend. Beef was over cooked and veg was shrivelled and looked like it had been steamed for too long. I thought the vegetables were for one person. I asked for more and was told I’d have to order it and be charged as additional side dishes. I’ll be picking somewhere else to go next time and will be avoiding this place.

Wonderful find we really enjoyed our one night stay. We drove from Hampshire, stopping off at Laycock Abbey before heading onto the inn. We arrived at roughly 16:30, checking in with a friendly member of staff. He showed us to our room, The Rose Garden, which overlooked the front of the property. The room was clean and pleasantly decorated, though quite compact. It was perfect for our one night stay. We made a hot drink unpacked and relaxed for a while. We headed down to the bar for a drink as we were too early for our dinner booking. I do not drink k and was very pleased to find they had alcohol free Pentire on offer. Would love to see Tanqueray and Gordon's on the bar list, too. Again, two lovely female staff served us. Our table was booked for 19:30 in the bar towards the back. Service was a little slow, but there was a group of eight beside us. We were in no rush, so we're happy to wait. We both ordered pork belly, which was cooked perfectly very tasty. Desserts were delicious, an Eton mess and a chocolate brownie, the raspberry sorbet was divine. We took a wander into the garden to have a look at the Italian restaurant outside, twinkling fairy lights in a Scandinavian type chalet. Very inviting wish we had booked there! We would definitely stay again, the inn is in a small village not sure there's much else available. Highly recommend staying here.

Having previously frequented the pub for food with my family, my most recent visits (April 2024) were abysmal. I have never experienced such a hostile environment in all my life, our very presence was an inconvenience. The kitchen was open / closed several times (as they clearly couldn't cope. The manager in charge, was rude, unprofessional, hostile to name but a few. It is a real shame as the pizza's there are tasty, but the overall experience leaves a lasting bitter taste. I will not be back, or will not recommend to others.

We came across this lovely, quaint pub after a day house hunting in Tetbury just before the 2nd lockdown. Struggling to find a place open and serving food, this place was perfect! We chose the pie of the day and chicken burger, which were tasty and delicious and can honestly say was the best pie I've ever had! We will certainly be returning once we're settled in Tetbury and look forward to taking friends for the cosy experience.

Decided to visit the Cat for a change. Not been there for a while. Very pleased the place has been refurbished but still retains the local feel although due to COVID the bar was not as it would normally be. Nice quiet table beer fine but the Rose wine not as good as might have been. The starters Mushrooms excellent and very tasty. The mains Sea Bream and veg and the Steak was superb and very filling. A crumble to share again a great portion.Great value for money meal and will certainly visit again soon. Worth a visit.

Great choice by Mr Homer! We arrived with a few hours to kill before evening dinner service, and enjoyed ourselves in the beautiful rose garden, until a bit of rain stopped play. Our visit coincided with the first day of national dining changes. The staff were brilliant and handled the new rules professionally and calmly and provided customers with advice on the new NHS app.The food was definitely worth the wait. I enjoyed the slow cooked shin of beef and it was delicious. I followed this up with white chocolate and raspberry creme brûlée. My husband enjoyed his belly pork, followed by chocolate brownie and pistachio ice cream. We were lucky to have booked in early as the restaurant was busy with diners who also had a reservation.

No volveremos.

Went for my Birthday lunch as accessibility is very good here and I can't walk far. Garden out front is great when weather kind but we had a table inside, September after all. We shared two starters which were really good, partner had Fish main and I had Pork belly. Most of the food was splendid yet my belly lacked much lean, superbly presented and soft but a bit fatty for most. Huge portions really but just managed to finish. We have just returned from two night stay B&B arrangement. The pub is set in a lovely cotswolds village and the food is of a good standard. My feedback is based on the service we received from the bar manager during our stay. I found the attitude as unfriendly bordering on the obnoxious. There was in my opinion a difference in the way he treated his guests who stayed in the accommodation and the locals. My particular review was that I had booked a reservation the previous day with the bar manager for an evening meal at 1830 and when we came down for our meal the table had not been reserved. I was told by the younger member of staff we could have a table for 1 hour, but we had to leave at 1930. On completing my main course we were asked to vacate out table at 1915 to finish our dessert elsewhere. This made us feel like second class citizens. I can't substantiate whether we had bounced from our meal booking reservation or it was a genuine mistake, either way not impressed

Went on a Sunday lunch time, for a good Sunday roast, recommend by friends. Very simple menu with Covid19. I had the roast chicken, When it arrived 2 small pieces of chicken breast. I had to question if that was correct, and was advised yes it was. I then asked for more, to which they reluctantly did offer. The veg was very small portions as well. three small pieces of potatoes and a few bit of other veg. The gravy was extremely thick and concentrated. A very poor meal I have to say. Also the food arrived on a huge plate with small amounts of food.........I know you don't do that. Oh well, I don't think I would return. Service was generally average. The price for the meal and the whole lunch is vey expensive for what you get. NO VALUE for money.

The waitress asked if she could take our sharing platter starter, even though we were clearly still eating. I ordered pork belly, which I had to return as it was chewy and tough. Very disappointing. After booking a table for 10 to have a post countryside walk meal, we arrived at the pub and received a frosty reception from the bar staff (Like we hadn't pre-warned or pre-booked).The YOUNG staff were trying their very best to accommodate us and we're all polite. The more senior staff however, made the experience one we all would like to forget. After ordering our meals with a few allergens and dietary requirements, they were all ignored. I am lactose intolerant and ordered my chicken burger without cheese, this request was totally ignored. When I pointed out the mistake, which the young staff member apologised for, it was returned to me in less than 2 minutes with the majority of the cheese scraped off but with a few bits still visible. If this had been an allergy, they would have a bigger problem. As a daughter of a very successful landlord, it makes me very sad to see public houses with such great potential being let down by ignorant and ungrateful staff members. As I have previously mentioned, the younger team members were very courteous and accomodating but this was unfortunately overshadowed by the rudeness of, who I can only presume, was the landlady. It's such a shame but as they say you win some, you lose some and they have definitely lost all our future business.

Having visited MANY pubs across the UK, I’ve never been to a pub quite like this one - and no, I don’t mean that in a good way. Most pubs would welcome custom on a Saturday lunch time. As a table of 10, we even had the courtesy to call in advance to give them a heads up. Still, on arrival, we were made to feel as though we were an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. Despite the fact the pub itself wasn’t very busy, our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive at the table and our food order was incorrect on numerous occasions. When we tried to help and order our drinks at the bar, it was made very clear to us by staff and local residents that our custom was detracting from their usual dynamic.Once the drinks arrived at the table, the wine we had ordered was, to put it bluntly, not suitable for human consumption. A glass of vinegar would have been more enjoyable. We asked to swap it for a glass of prosecco instead which was fine. However, when we requested the bill, we realised we were still being charged for the wine. When we challenged why we were paying for it, we were told that the lady behind the bar, who had abruptly dismissed our comments and feedback, had been working in the trade longer than we had been alive and therefore had more taste than we did. It was clear that despite the many years of experience she claimed to have, it had, in fact, taught her nothing about decent customer service or decent taste in wine. This is a pub that clearly thrives off local custom rather than capitalising on those who might be visiting the local area. You’d be better of popping to the local Tesco and having a glass of wine at home.

I chose this place to meet a friend for dinner and found it a good choice. Luckily made a reservation on line as it was Friday night as it turned out to be booked up until later. I found it to be a warm, relaxed atmosphere of a local neighbourhood pub, but the food was first rate gastropub experience. TI had the "pan-pried" cod, which did not really see fried at all, but a moist lovely cut that exceeded my expectations. Staff also friendly and atentive.

The Cat and Custard Pot is a charming village pub with lots of character and beautifully decorated inside. We've been a couple of times for Sunday lunch and never been disappointed. The food is delicious and freshly prepared and the service is top notch. Even though the pub was really busy (so best book to avoid in advance) we were served our drinks straight away and food in about 20 mins. We'll definitely be back!

Our third visit, in less than 5 weeks. If I could I’d be there every week. As soon as you walk in the door, there is a feeling of coming home. The decor is beautiful, the food is amazing (best Sunday roast ever), the service is outstanding. Nothing is to much trouble. Can’t wait for my next visit.

What a great little place. The Inn is lovely, staff polite, a good selection of drinks, food was tasty and delivered to the table quickly. Our room was in the eaves, but cosy with a large modern bathroom. A really lovely place and all credit to the families for saving this little gem.

We are very lucky to have such a wonderful pub in the village, bought by a few of the villagers to preserve its legacy, and what a great job they have done on the whole. Food is very good and consistent and the service is very good and friendly too. My negative as a local would be the rooms have taken precedence over the pub to a degree so the management are constantly fussing about noise in the pub - surely there should be a clause when you stay in a pub that 'pub noise comes as an occupational hazard at times!' Also I have noticed pub bar trade itself has died off a fair bit - a few charming girls behind the bar at times might increase the volume (opinion of 98% of the village male drinkers! - a dying breed although there are still a good core who support) - would love to see the landlords focus on getting the 'boozer' aspects of the pub more robust. Very happy overall though.

Exceptional Sunday roast at the Cat & Custard Pot! The beef was incredible. Staff very friendly and welcomed walk in’s as it was, quite rightly, heavily reserved. Lovely ales also. Highly recommended.

This was recommended by a friend who had previously stayed here whilst visiting the area. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our only complaint would be the coffee maker which one had to use to make tea.

We came here as an alternative to the overpriced hotel we were staying in and it was a really good choice. Great atmosphere, delicious food and great service from the young members of staff and manager.

Having visited Westonbirt Arboretum we had lunch here. There was a very good menu including traditional pub meals. The staff very pleasant and welcoming and the pub was very busy but we didn't wait long for food. My husband enjoyed a cheese souffle as a starter which he said was delicious followed by haunch of venison which again he enjoyed very much. I only had a main course of pork belly which was also very nicely cooked and tasty. Only one had dessert which again was excellent. My only criticism is that although they were very knowledgeable regarding the contents of their food and very helpful, but as a coeliac and unfortunately lactose intolerant too, it limited my choice very much. Had they used cornflour in some of their dishes instead of wheatflour then there would have been a greater variety of things I could have had. I would thoroughly recommend this pub to anyone as the food is well presented and fair prices.

We stopped here for lunch after a trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. It was a particularly busy day and they were tight for tables. After being sat originally, we were then moved to a better spot (unprompted) which was most appreciated as we had a bit more space! Gorgeous food, lovely and welcoming staff - can’t be faulted.

Day tripping with family in the Cotswolds we sought advice from Trip Advisor for a good lunch spot nearby. We followed the reviews and made the trip to Tetbury village where we found the pub gardens, well maintained with colourful hanging pots of begonias inviting us in. Inside the intimate small bar with a few characters chatting on the stools soon had us feeling part of the locals.

I can only give 10 out of 10 for everything at this charming inn in a delightful village. The service was first class, very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Our meals were beautifully cooked and served, the battered cod and chips were the best I have ever eaten - crisp batter and white, flaky fish and fat, well cooked chips. The smoked chicken salad was a good size portion, with lots of colour and flavours. Excellent coffee. There is a lovely garden at the front and although facing the road, this is a very pretty village and the cottages and gardens around are lovely. First class clean toilets and good disabled toilet.

This lovely country pub with rooms caters for all. We had Sunday lunch for 4 and all the food was excellent. Interesting starters which the Chef had obviously given a lot of thought to. Not your usual run of the mill. We all had scallops with black pudding. At first glance Expensive at £12 but the portion size was big with 3 full king scallops served. So value for money. Roast dinner of Sirloin and belly pork was delicious with plenty of veggies served separately. All well cooked. The service is friendly and efficient and despite being busy there were no issues with time delays or quality. This is a great pub, well managed with the manager Francois, providing a very friendly welcome.

The pub is in a small hamlet with just a church and village hall circa 2 1/2 miles outside the beautiful town of Tetbury and very close to Prince Charles home Highgrove. We stayed overnight and ate in the pub on the Saturday evening. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our rooms were to a very good standard and the evening meals were excellent with the best of ingredients. The breakfast offered was Continental with Full English breakfast too. There is an outside eating area only at the front of the pub and plenty of parking at the back.

This is a really welcome, beautifully renovated addition to the area. A warm and friendly local with stone walls and open fires. Food is very good, modern pub style at a very reasonable price for The Cotswolds. Staff are very friendly and efficient and the clientele are a great combination of locals at the bar, people eating and walkers, cyclists etc calling in for a pint. Been several times since it reopened and all have been good.

We had a stay for two nights with two rooms, dinner on evening one and two breakfasts. Positive Points 1. Quality steak 2. Delicious mackerel starter Negative Points 1. Cold and unwelcoming 2. Dirty tables and cutlery 3. Very long wait for food and nobody checked if everything was ok 4. Different change for same drinks every time. 5. No staff....one person does everything! 6. Filthy bedrooms, thick with dust and cobwebs 7. Rooms full of broken items ...mirrors, blinds 8. No slip mat provided for elderly people, so unable to have a shower (my mum was told to throw a towel in the bath!) 9. Extremely old mattress, lumpy and uncomfortable, old duvet with lumps and bumps 10. Linen bundles and beer barrels left outside rooms and at bottom of the stairs...huge fire and safety risk 11. Limited breakfast and very small quantity 12. Coffee and tea not restocked, dirty cups left in room and bed not made 13. Bathroom was rusty, filthy and hadn't been cleaned. Toilets were still dirty from previous guests.
