Castle Rock Tap Room and Kitchen in North West Leicestershire

Was not expecting to be served a Tesco £2.50 ready meal after paying £16 for Yorkshire pudding with beef, roasties, stuffing and peas. The roasties were like those aunt Bessie frozen ones. We spent £46 in total on 2 drinks and 2 mains. Food is edible but nothing to shout about - you're better off going downstairs to pork and pickle they serve FRESH food at half the price. Waited 18 minutes for 2 drinks, and they forgot one of the drinks It wasn't even busy this was 1.30pm on a Monday The decor/atmosphere is nice, modern pub vibes

Extremely over priced. Quality of food is not high. Serve the very expensive premium lager in glasses without a nucleator (What's a nucleator? asked the barman!).

Disgusting processed expensive food. Was hungry and in a rush. Wish I had gone to Burger King.. Couldn’t recommend it but the staff were nice and friendly. Also a bit of a rip off price wise.. Pity. Could do so much better

How the mighty are fallen. In the past we always loved starting our holidays in the Tap - full English, pint of either of the two cask beers - what better way to start your jollies? Well not any more I'm afraid. On this and our previous visit the breakfast was a pale shadow of its former self, only one cask beer on (and not in anywhere near the condition it should have been - come on, Harvest Pale is a belting beer, how can you let it be served like this??) and all at a handsome price - well handsome if you're the owner, not if you're the customer. Such a shame, looks like we'll be eating our own sarnies pre-flight from now on. Update - looks like I never learn. Back in the CR Tap at EMA and got charged £12.95 for a 200ml bottle of prosecco - that really is taking the p**s.

Amateurville. Most reviews are on the same theme. We couldn't get off base one ordering at tabke because the app will only take orders from tables 1-66 Our table was 99. Dohhhh

Popped in for just drinks, no food. Was packed, had to wait for a table. Prices charged are expensive. Not a particular good experience. Usually use the Escape Lounge and after this, will be using again.

Not bad actually also a smoking room if anyone want a cigarette before they flay, just don’t follow the signs wall until as far as you can go then turn left, everyone was turning right could not find it, while I was having something to eat I was glancing around were people were turning right, they definitely turn left, extremely decent prices, as we all know airport are so expensive but in here not to bad, if you see a seat grab it or put something on it because they are busy busy busy

Well locate, up the stairs after you’ve gone through check in and security checks. Good selection of drinks, for us the food was a bit mediocre, but to be fair they were busy. Smoking area is close by if needed.

Ordered Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Dahl dish, when it came it only had cauliflower, no sight of any squash or potatoes Spoke to the "chef" to be told this is what he was sent and he could try another one but could not guarantee it would be any different. Really not very good, would not bother again

Excellent pre flight option. Always head for this bar. Unfortunately more and more often we cannot find space 🥲

Brioche bread was rock hard they said that it’s how the bread comes out, clearly frozen. Refused to give a refund as the chips and fish finger were eaten, manager named Blake or Blaine was not very helpful.

There is a real failure of care and concern at this place the companies involved with the airport including Tui should petition for better standards. A very poor burger with no care, burnt for £15.50 (£77 for family meal) Young staff do their best, but this is a place to be avoided because it exploits a captive audience. The regional managers and company must do better to provide a service and operate a business with integrity.

Why serve a drink your staff canny pour, if your tipping a pint of guiness to get rid of the excess foam your doing somthing wrong and £7.45 for a genuinely insulting pint is a crime

Mediocre airport food at premium airport prices. Long waits for food or at bar if its remotely busy. QR code ordering with the website not updated for the recent refresh (with extra seats). If you sit at tables 67 to 92 you can't order online. How hard would it be to sort that?

Robbers, three ninety five for a coke from the gun, seven twenty five for a sandwich Miguel, four sixty for the smallest thing of chips I ever saw and three seventy for a coffee. Why not put a balaclava on a gun to my head. Even Ryanair are cheaper six mile up in the sky

Waited over an hour for food, which never arrived. I asked for a refund. Ok for drinks, but it's so busy you will probably have to drink it stood up. Very disappointing. Really poor for a big airport.

Food cold and certainly not fresh. We had the the same as last year, 2 full monty breakfasts and it was nothing like last year. I would say last year was much busier in hear and they still serve rubbish like we just got served. Will we eat or drink hear again, definitely NOT.

To sum it up, please try and avoid if you’re after food. If I had known I’d have gone to Burger King. Ordered two burgers and still water and it came to £40 including a tip which I regret doing. It’s the saddest burger I’ve seen and everything has to be done via the app, so there is no “service”. Should have read the reviews before going.

Visited today and dined in for breakfast. Food arrived wrong to what we ordered,2nd attempt was nearly right,3rd attempt we just accepted it. Had to ask 4 times for my coffee I ordered. Never again 👎

I can't stand Airports or the people in airports. Everything about them makes me feel sick to the stomach, so it was a relief to chance upon this place whilst waiting for the tannoy to call us to a gate to be herded like cattle. It gave us a place to just sit and breathe whilst enjoying a pint of Guinness (me) and a sausage cob (my wife). I am assured the sausage cob was very good. Whilst the people in here were just as odious as any other you'd expect to find at an airport, it did not detract from what felt like a little oasis of calm amongst the hordes of overexcited holiday makers. The pricing is reasonable (there will always be a bit of a mark up in an airport) though you do end up waiting quite a while if you order through the app, which for some reason seems to be the less efficient way of doing things these days. Would I come here if I wasn't a captive audience in an airport? Probably not. That being said, I was incredibly glad of it when I was stuck in East Midlands Airport and I will no doubt be glad of it again the next time I am flying out anywhere.

Catching an Early morning flight. Service at point of order was professional, friendly and quick... food followed in a matter of minutes , Ordered 1 full monty Breakfast a Midlands Breakfast and 2 breakfast Baps. Baps were ok apart from hard eggs in both but were reasonable value for money, the full breakfasts alas were a different story, sausages in both were chewy and looked and tasted very dry, the bacon was very similar, fried eggs on both were dry and hard. Whilst they both came within minutes of ordering, which from one perspective would be a real positive this was at the detriment to the quality of the food being cooked way to far in advance & held in a hot hold unit or under hot lamps. I am a realistic sort of person and understand the issues of speed of service in an airport, however this didn't reflect the price point and can be found in better quality & cheaper at other similar establishments in airports up and down the country within the UK.

Arrived at 7.10pm to eat prior to a flight to be told the food would take 40mins when we are due to board at 7.50pm. Not great with a 3 year old. We’ll stick to Birmingham Airport in future

Never again! At 7pm on a Saturday evening, it was the only place open in the airport. Food service was very slow with a 40-minute wait for food. Compared to Wetherspoons at Birmingham airport where service is fast and efficient for the modern traveller, this was completely disappointing. Most tables were having drinks with only few ones having food. Very disappointing experience.

Loads of tables available and staff were pretty good at the bar when ordering food and drinks. Food came quicker than expected considering how busy it was and was probably equivalent to Wetherspoons type of food. Always slightly expensive but that's the way with airport restaurants. All in all would eat and drink here again before my flight

Had a pre flight drinks and the food menu looked lovely so we ordered 2 yorkshire puddings with beef and a kids meal.....wish we hadn't bothered it was just a microwaved flat pudding with a slice of pre packed beef and some hard microwaved roast potatoes. Cost a fortune too,would just use burger King next time. Staff were all nice though

I expect to pay more yet the breakfast served was so well overcooked it was disgusting.

Avoid. We paid and waited over half an hour for 2x kids breakfast and 1x English breakfast. We had to give up in the end in fear of missing our flight. It wasn't even busy. And on my birthday too 👎

Staff not well educated on the drinks they serve. Asked for an Aussie red and the barmaid said they don't have one. But they do. Service was offhand. Typical don't care English workers. The service industry in England hasn't improved much in over 30 years and needs a good kick up the backside.

Would be great if you wiped the tables at least from time to time...

Tacky tables and littered floors don’t exactly invite you to want to eat here. Absence of enough trained staff capable of dealing with busy times.

Das ganze "Restaurant" muss viel besser sauber gehalten werden. Das leere Geschirr muss von den Tischen geholt werden und die Tische müssen dringend gereinigt werden. Man kann nicht nur verlaufen man muss auch Ordnung halten sonst hat der Gast keine Freude. Es war jeder Tisch permanent während meiner fast 3 Stunden Aufenthalt dreckig und überall auf dem Boden lagen Speisereste. Meistens hatten 2 Kellner hinter dem Tresen genug Zeit sauber zu machen. Dieses Restaurant war an meinem gestrigem Besuch einfach nur dreckig dreckig dreckig. Auch wenn man kein Personal hat oder keine Zeit oder welche Ausreden auch immer aber man kann 7nd man muss Ordnung halten.

For a place to nip for a drink in the airport, this place is perfect. However, we went in for breakfast before an early flight. The breakfast was terrible. You couldn't cut the sausages or even chew them properly, and the bacon wasn't cooked. Service was okay, you order at the bar so there isn't really much service. Pretty standard. Prices where what you would expect for an airport.

Very very slow service for the amount of people. Staff pouring one drink at a time and waiting. 30 plus mins just to get the front of the bar. Need more staff. Very expensive and the place is dirty. The windows and plastic have not been cleaned in years

Absolute miserable older lady on the bar. Everyone else looks a little miserable, probably cos I think she was the manager or at least she acted like it. I saw her interact with another man/customer in the most disgusting rude way and he just smiled at her but wow. If you can’t smile and be nice don’t work in hospitality! I think her name was Karen, at least that’s what he called her as he left. 😉 Wow had to come back and add that after posting this review all the other reviews popped up! I’ve never seen so many bad reviews ….what an absolute car crash of a business!

Previously I’d had a nice vegan breakfast there; but they weren’t serving it and the main menu had nothing suitable except soup and a Bangkok burger which was dreadful. Very disappointing lack of choice…

Shocking. £7 a pint and even the manager on shift couldn't be bothered to bring the poured drinks over to me. Inattentive staff too, more bothered about gossipping amongst themselves than doing their job.

This bar/restaurant at East Midlands Airport never has enough staff for, what is an extremely busy airport. There is always a huge queue to get to the bar to order food or drinks and only a couple of people serving. The food, when you get it, us quite good. Do come on management and sort out your staffing. I know you have a captive audience but that is no excuse. You're giving EMA a bad name.

I bought 4 drinks and got charged £27.56 and then the next time I went up and got the same 4 drinks they charged me £35 so I queried about the price difference and was told to shut up else they would make me pay the £8 difference and I am lucky they won’t be making me pay the extra just bloody rude when I’ll I did was question price difference.

It's a pub in an airport, so not cheap, and not the widest selection of drinks either, but what was available was pretty reasonable for a pub in an airport. And it's a Castle Rock pub, so it's about as good as it can get for a pub in an airport. No rating for food as I didn't eat here. 2nd visit, food is fine, had an English Breakfast, was able to swap out an item for another, food arrived promptly, excellent service again.

Nice place in the main square Great music being played, staff are fantastic. Beer prices aren't bad either. Didn't try any food there, so I can't review.

Castle Rock Tap Room is a typical Extortionate Priced Poor Service Airport 'Pub'. Queues of people waiting to get a drink 🍸 at this snails 🐌 pace service outlet and silly prices mean we won't use again.

Mega expensive £6.95 a pint £10.99 for a £5 breakfast.

Go to burger king, likely the same quality of food at half the price.
