Came here while waiting to fly to Greece drinks and food good better than Birmingham airport by far would recommend

Bad enough in a restaurant where they can't be bothered to wipe down tables in normal times. Sticky and stained with last persons crockery when we arrived, not removed when any our orders arrived. Had been there an hour before any table was wiped down. Food was ok, beer a bit stale but not bad enough to return. Hoped for better.

Ok where do I start made a order on this Friday gone ,the children’s porridge was £6.95 the adults £4.95 the app led us to believe that a drink and snack where included. When the order arrived this was not the case £2 more for less ! The two packets of salt and vinegar crisps we ordered never did come !!! So they basically stole the money of use for them , and then there’s the coffee well it did not hare any coffee in it the machine must have been Brocken !!! But I have to pay credit where it’s due the English breakfast was amazing well cooked , good quality Ingredients, so compliments to the chief., it’s just a shame that only one of the two breakfasts we ordered came out the other never came we had to leave to catch our flight feeling ripped off !!!! Next year we are going to fly from Birmingham airport where there’s a better catering facilities. Very very disappointed!!!! Eat at your own risk . To be fare the staff did say they where having problems with the new app .

OK for a drink, but expect long wait times. We were considering food but saw the bill would come to near £50... looked at others food and didn’t look appetising at all. Read other reviews. Saw a few others complaining about their food.Recommendation would be go for drinks here only, then Burger King next door for your burger.Standard airport grub and drink prices. Ok place to use some time before boarding flight. I’ll be honest other UK airports have better pubs.Disclaimer: we visited early August when COVID-19 was in play so please bare that in mind.

Early morning flight to Spain so breakfast needed. I had full monty costing £13.99, 2 of everything with toast and tea. Plenty and filling, my wife had a bacon bap at £4.99, paying 99p extra for an egg on it. Pot of tea costs 2.50, as it’s an airport restaurant you pay over the odds and quality ok.

Just popped in for a pre flight drink 7AM and the place was so busy. Service was ok drinks not bad but very pricey as you'd expect. Not sure if I'd eat here after reading some of the reviews.

Ordered the ultimate burger and was the most disgusting burger I have ever eaten. It came within a couple of minutes of ordering so was obviously microwaved. It tasted like corned beef and came in a crap stale white bun. The chips were average at best. And all for nearly £14!Avoid like the plague.

We had a pint here before a flight. Very pricey but has to be expected in an airport. Decent drink though.

A bit better than the usual airport catering - GF sausage and bread available at 05:00. SWMBO enjoyed her Bacon Bap and I enjoyed the very generous portion of scrambled egg and smoked salmon, shame it was so cold but that is elf and safety for you.

We went upstairs at East Midlands airport for a beer and a glass of wine. You can take the stairs or lift or escalator and there is a childs play area close to the stairs. If you want a cigarette there is a door opposite the bar to go outside.There are plenty of tables and chairs to sit at.The person in front of us at the bar ordered 2 beers and the bar man put them on the bar and asked for the money. The cost of those 2 beers was just shy of £12!!!! We thought that was shameful and walked away disgusted. We would never go up there again.

We decided to have a couple of drinks at Castle Rock Tap Room whilst waiting for a flight out of East Midlands Airport.Situated on the first floor, this restaurant is probably the biggest in the Airport so ample seating available... there is also a bar area with high stools.Good choice of food available including a great selection of breakfasts. We were going to have breakfast here but decided not to however have had before and enjoyed it then.Staff were a little miserable but had a good view of the runway up there.Overall, not bad at all.

Ordered two pints of San Miguel the bar lady poured them but when she tried to put them through the till she had lost her card, I waited for five minutes wile she frantically tried to find it the three other bar staff including the manager served numerous other people, when I asked if one could put my beers through I was told I was being rude,Poor customer service and very poor management now sat in frankly and bennys having a beer and meal.

When Castle Rock first opened their Tap Room and Kitchen at East Midlands Airport they made an effort and the food was good.Today's serving of a vegan breakfast was frankly appalling.For the princely sum of £9.99 per head we were served with a dried up Quorn "pattie", a single small mushroom, a sad and solitary hash brown, a small bowl of baked beans, some raw spinach leaves and a ladle of watery grey and gritty gruel which masqueraded under the title of "scranbled tofu".I have been a vegetarian for many years and have eaten hundreds of veggie and vegan breakfasts in greasy spoon cafes, pubs, hotels and hippy communal eateries all over the country some great, some good some not so good and I can honestly say that this was by far the worst.Thirty pounds spent, three VERY dissatisfied customers.Never again.

Really don’t usually bother giving bad reviews,I just don’t return but as a frequent flyer from ema I feel that we are being sold so short by this terrible offering at our regional airport!My partner and I had a longish flight and as we wouldn’t be arriving until late in the evening, we decided to eat here before our flight.The food was awful, oily calamari for £9...sent that straight back , then a cheap wrap with frozen rubbish inside just chucked on a plate £7 !!!And a cheap frozen chicken burger in stale cheap bun that disintegrated as it was so stale £12,.The saddest part about this was that the staff were obviously embarrassed about the standards and the manager refunded us immediately, must be a soul destroying job , whoever is behind this embarrassment to my local airport needs to look at this failing venture and offer us quality, well cooked food that we look forward to as part of our travels,and are happy to pay for.

As a family of six, we come to ‘castle rock’ for breakfast 4 of us had baps with a mixture of fillings, which all came out cold, or luke warm.

It was really fine to be here eat and drink befor my holiday. Its not so cheap here but still like for airport it's allright. When I was flying was a massive busy fortunately staff was quick and helpful.

Firstly we all know we’re going to part with a small fortune @ all airports to purchase anything , that’s a given & not my complaint.

I think would been cheaper order a bottle than 2 glass wine but hey ho! Decent service, nice glass el vino pre flight....all you need really! Plenty screen to show flights.

This is what you pay for when ordee "Bread and butter". Was expecting fresh bread. Also burger and chips came in a couple of minutes from ordering, and was clearly not fresh, microwaved. Would not recommend!

Decaff coffee yep, good choice if beer yep. Pity about the queue but they tried their best and there was a variety of seating (just about enough). Food looked OK but didn't try any.

Just nipped in for a cup of tea, one of which was decaf, and some toast. Took us ages to find a table...... that was clean!

Thought I’d try here before our flight

Not busy but couldn’t see any staff to ask how we proceed to order food. Eventually asked a girl who came to tidy a table. Order at the bar. Had the all day breakfasts and asked for no chips. Came with chips and a burst eggs. It was ok but definitely not the best breakfast I have had.

......to try to avoid the appalling pap that budget airlines sell in the name of food.

Popped in for a ore flight breakfast today.

Quick service, had a bacon cob one without egg and one with. The lady with blonde hair tied back, mid 20’s was very polite and quick. Thank you.

Breakfast My husband had a sausage Bap, the sausages had big lumps of gristle in them he hardly touched them, I had 2 slices toast and Jam the bread has hardly toasted and only one small Jam hardly enough for one slice of toast. Glass of house wine Pinot £7.95! Won't be going back!

Outbound to Rome on a long weekend and stopped for drinks after bag drop. Good service but it's not a patch on Birmibgham or Manchester as a little overpriced Too early for us for food as we were dining later. Not bad but busy as the school surge had started.

Arrived at east mids airport early for our breakfast before our flight,last year it was delicious,so we headed straight to castle rock.We are both Gluten Free so ordered 2 breakfasts and 2 teas.Fabulous loved it just as good as last year.The bacon is so good,egg,beans,hash brown,mushroom,tomato,everything hot and cooked perfectly.Tea,a good cuppa,a lovely chat with a staff member when she came to clear our table,top marks for brekky from us two £8.99 cannot fault it,it was cooked perfectly,delicious again,see you again in July.

I ordered an all day breakfast for the princely sum of almost £12 (plus an extra £3 for a cup of tea), with high expectations. What arrived was the worst all day breakfast I've ever laid eyes on. Two pale fatty bits of bacon stuck together and barely cooked, a fried egg that was solid, underdone chips, cold baked beans and an oversized greasy closed cup mushroom being passed off as a flat mushroom. The only saving grace is that I managed to make myself a good cup of tea to wash the insipid taste down. I'd have happily complained on the day but members of staff were as difficult to find as something positive in my food.

Always a nice pint in here. A must to get you in the mood for your holiday friendly staff. Not tried the food but always burger king next door

This establishment is airside at East Midlands Airport, situated in first floor in the departure lounge.

Arrived and had to ask to be seated. 3 serving staff were huddled having a chat. Place was empty. Server was chirpy and friendly, with a nice smile.

Pricey wine. No jägers and for 3 blonde ladies going to Budapest that’s not on. Seating was brilliant - was able to paint nails.

good atmosphere to relax before flying and you can wander around seeing the planes you will be flying on through large windows,typical airport bar prices and food very good

Comfortable seats, and a nice layout of tables which gave groups of people there own reasonably private space. The bar staff were also pleasant and professional, but the prices of the drinks were extremely high even for an airport.

My husband had the pie and mash , the crust on the pie would have needed a sledge hammer to cut it dont bother

Had veggie sausage bap. I had a fried egg extra on mine and even with a runny egg it was quite dry. Not the best veggie sausages either.

I ordered chicken kebab, thinking they can’t get it that wrong. How wrong I was! The ‘chicken’ processed onto kebab sticks was hard and bone dry, almost impossible to prise off the sticks. A complete and utter disaster. It was an insult to be served such c**p.

Early morning flight out of EMA, restaurant was not very busy so it was enjoyable to sit in a comfortable seat and have a bite to eat and a drink, service was quick.

Had a couple of decent Cappuccinos and a bowl of porridge (requested no Syrup - no problem). Quick and tasty and ready for the flight!

Was here Sunday just gone , and was not impressed with the service at all ! When approaching the bar there was 5 girls all stood together behind the bar back to the counter also, 2 of them had their arms round each, she wasn’t upset or anything so don’t know what was all about, they must just really like each other.. anyway when they finally noticed I was stood waiting a girl with long blonde hair , a sort of light tanned jacket on , no smile asked me what I wanted so I ordered my two drinks , took 3 of them to make them , and when made instead of putting my drinks where I was stood with all my hand luggage put them about 5 foot away from me , which made me have to pick up all my bags and move along , then I just got £2.50 no please just one thanks when I gave her the money .... then when she finished closing the till she walked back to the group lent back on the wall pulled her phone out head down and showing another girl something ... rude horrible girls ... get some better staff !!!!

Yet again another chance to rip you off before your flight .over priced cr#p food,,can’t actually remember asking for extra fat on the bacon .also don’t know why they paying a waiter to sit on Facebook here is a picture of the food receipt..as if walking between all the over priced tosh wasn’t enough .

Came here before a flight and ordered 3 breakfast baps, they came incredibly fast! I had barely sat down before I saw them coming out. Lovely food and an enjoyable atmosphere.

Sat me down, checked on me. I said I needed one more minute. Twenty minutes later someone finally came back for my order. Unfortunately, my flight is about to board and I have no time to eat. Not mad, because I’m actually sad. Been craving a big English breakfast all day. :(

There was 4 of us getting a flight out to Spain so needed food , sat down in this upstairs airport restaurant where we was greeted pleasantly. I had the ultimate burger which consisted of Prime British beef burger topped with grilled back bacon,

WE ate here prior to taking a later afternoon flight - we took a little time to find the Castle Rock Tap Room (upstairs), once we arrived we were shown to a table over looking the runway and our order and drinks were delivered to us in a timely fashion.

Poor order process Attitude shocking. Pub actually markets training! Food choice patronisingly basic

Wednesday 22nd and we were in the Departure Lounge in East Midlands Airport awaiting the departure of our Jet2 flight to Kefelonia.

We had an early flight so had breakfast here. It is located on the first floor in departures and there were plenty of seats at the time we arrived but did get busy.

Always seems to be busy and often standing room only although it is well staffed and efficient service. Used to be a lot better when one area was given over to waiter/waitress table service. Obviously in the airport it is a captive market and the prices reflect that.

If you're after a drink before your flight, I'd recommend coming here. Service was alright, and the amount of seats they have is actually great. You shouldn't ever have a problem getting a table. It's not the cheapest place in the world for a drink, but you're at an airport, what do you expect? Didn't try any of the food as there are plenty of other places at the airport that'll have you covered on that front.

The actual restaurant isn’t that great, staff are un enthusiastic, tables are sticky and filthy, but the veggie fish and chips were amazing. The best battered halloumi I have ever had...it’s a shame this restaurant is only in East Midlands!!

On entering, we were told there was a forty minute wait for food. No problem for us. The food when it came was good and we enjoyed our meal.

Cost us just shy of £10 for 2 pints (think it was Carlsberg and Somersby) … not going to bother again.

Went with two girl friends. Table was really sticky, the trays for your drinks were all sticky and not cleaned. The bacon and sausage baps were lively but the breakfast was cold.

I pass through the airport on a weekly basis and every time I eat here it gets worse now no table service why?We don't have enough staff there off sick!

Even at the unearthly hour of 5am after having checked in for our flights went upstairs at the airport after getting through security to the Castle Rock, we opted for table service which is at no extra cost. I had the full English with toast and coffee whilst Yvette opted for bacon and egg on toast with tea, we shared a glass of orange juice...

Had drinks and toast here before boarding plane. Wasn't too busy as very early morning. Shown to our table, ordered and was served quickly. Food and drink was ok but pricey as all the cafes in there are.

All a little chaotic with people standing, sitting on the floor and generally overcrowded. Luckily we did manage to get a table. Food and drink overpriced for what it is but that’s airports for you.

Floor in main area is littered with food debris. Waitress deliberately emptied liquid from a serving on to floor leaving a real slip hazard. Wine arrived - glasses although clinically clean were unpolished (heavily water stained) and not pleasing to the eye. Food arrived luke warm. Yes it’s busy but so much room for improvement. You really need to try harder. You have the monopoly here and don’t seem to care. I won’t be back that for sure. Frankie & Bennies next time!!!!!!

One of the worst breakfasts I've ever had greasy uncooked fatty bacon tiny sausages undercooked eggs slimy grease laden half a mushroom for 13 quid lol

Relatively quite for a change, perhaps it was because we travelled later in the day. Very quick service at the bar, decent enough drinks but overpriced.

I love the beers so for a change decided to eat here at the airport .

Our first trip here this morning for a gluten free breakfast before our flight,pleasant welcome from the staff,ordered and paid for our meal and in a flash it was there,great, so we tucked in.It was really really nice,the bacon was fab a fried egg,hash brown,small pot of beans,a tomato slice and mushroom,all was cooked perfectly.We are so impressed that in future we will eat here before we fly instead of ordering from airline,thank you Castle Rock a lovely experience,lovely friendly staff and a great gluten free breakfast.

Slightly better than our last visit, less busy, quick service from the bar staff but tables still not being cleared of empty glasses.

I caveat this review by stating we were travelling on Boxing Day an thus the airport was probably not at its busiest. This venue was just what we were looking for for a pre-flight lunch. A reasonable menu of 'pub grub' and an excellent selection of drinks. It was not too crowded and thus food was delivered quickly. The burgers were excellent and everything was reasonably priced by normal airport standards. Whilst the choice at East Midlands is limited, we will certainly consider using this establishment again if we fly from there.

Service was very quick and the veggie breakfast was lovely. We did order a round of toast each too as the breakfast did not come with any. The tables were cleared away quickly and staff were friendly. We couldn't fault it and we will be going back next time we visit East Midlands Airport.

I'm here on my own on a Tuesday night so it's pretty quiet and it's lovely. I'm pretty sure it would be horrific on a Saturday in the school holidays! But for now it's very chilled. It's clean, the staff are very friendly, and the food is all right. I had the Spanish club sandwich, which is a chicken & chorizo ciabatta (served cold). It comes with fries but I upgraded to sweet potato fries for an extra £1. Had a glass of Malbec. Total was £15.24. I've really enjoyed it, although the sandwich could have done with tasting a bit more of the chorizo than the chicken, but it was tasty enough. Just debating whether to have another glass of wine.

Had lunch here while waiting for a holiday flight.

In a airport with a captive audience and expensive drinks, you could at least have enough staff on to clear tables of empty glasses and keep it tidy.

It should have been a sign when the staff were eating Burger King at the table next to us. Bar disgusting, literally flies flying everywhere, bar had obviously not been cleaned in a very long time!

Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drink and cleanliness of the place, staff very good and attentive, well worth a visit

Had a breakfast here this morning before my flight, there isn't much choice at the airport. But the breakfast was of a very good quality. Slightly expensive but overall good.

Ordered 40 mins ago and still waiting!! Good job our flight is delayed. Whilst we have been sat here Ryanair have landed and turned a plane around and it's just took off. Perhaps they should lend their expertise to the kitchen.

Not cheap but at least the food is of a decent quality, airports have a captive audience and so the prices are comparitive

Limited choice being in an airport but we chose here to have a drink. Prices are expensive, bar is noisy and tables and chairs dirty.

This is the first place we call when going away, and often signifies the start of the holiday. Yep, it's expensive, but no real complaints to be fair. Good breakfast menu, poor (and overpriced) vegan choices, but would rather be here than anywhere else when I'm at that airport.

I know most places in airports are pricey, but I had a pint of Carlsberg and lime, glass of orange juice and a bacon cob (and it was mostly fat). £12!!
