The service was ok but only one other couple there so it should have been. The food was pretty awful - I had a mushroom and truffle flatbread with stilton. The base was fine and it did taste ok but had hardly any mushrooms, a tiny smidge of stilton and zero truffle. Son and gf both had pasta which was dry tasteless and stodgy. Hubby's ceasar salad was fine. I've given 2 for atmosphere because it was virtually empty, which we were amazed at given the glorious weather- but now I can see why. Be a long time before we eat there again

Not been here for a couple of years...Will be a lot longer until next time...pricey menu for a mediocre pub..not that we ordered food as the overly loud music ,hoping to set the scene as an 80s Ibiza all nighter, is not OK for those just wanting a pub lunch.

A very nice pub that used to have good quality food today has been big disappointment. Everything we ordered, burger, Sunday roast, a Merlot beef very bad, most likely leftovers from yesterday.

Only give 1 because it wouldn't let me give zero...food disgusting fish and chips vile fish dry n burnt chips bad mushy peas and gravy like water...chicken dry and luke warm salad old and soggy after complaining the girl who works there was really helpful tbf she didn't charge us but apart from her the overall experience was very disappointing and for the prices they charge I expect better definitely won't be returning and definitely would not reccomend

I think on my experience the biggest issue was the size of the steak. I have ordered a ribeye steak dish for £25 and when it came I was disappointed. The steak was tiny; I also got asked as I wanted it to be cooked but was so thin that was impossible to cook it right. Also a friend of mine had a sirloin *Sunday dinner and again the steak was really thin. In the other side was plenty of veg but still I don’t think it was worth the price. I would not recommend those dishes. For the rest atmosphere and staff they are ok

Sunday Dinner Treat? unfortunately not. Roast potatoes were pre made and not fresh, watery gravy and all very tasteless. Allergens not checked on taking the order. This place used to be packed on a Sunday. Very disappointed and unfortunately unlikely to return.

Popped by for a couple of drinks.. really nice staff, lovely decor and ambiance, we shall return for food and more drinks soon!

Just had a fantastic family meal from the specials menu at the Castle Inn. The service was great and the food was delicious. We have been before and will be going again. The pub is friendly and welcoming and the Management are always attentive and informative on forthcoming menu's. I would recommend this pub.

We have been here lots but wont be going again ordered food wrong pie was delivered so my husband sent his food back so we could ear together 25mins later food delivered but my husbands steak was cold which proves it had been left on side while my pie was cooked bad service only 2 staff we paidfor drinks and left wont be returning emily who took our order was not helpful at all we deffo wont be going back oh also no beer only guiness and cider if they had told us when we booked we wouldnt have gone

A traditional pub with a fab menu offering great size tasty meals that don't disappoint. At the weekend I opted for the goats cheese salad (with a side of the TASTIEST onion rings - ive tried a few!). Others in my group had ceasar salad, burger and flatbread and everyone commented on what great food it was. Pleasant staff too make this one to return to.

Excellent seafood menu, the Indian coley was delicious and the burgers went down extremely well. Friendly staff. Dog and child friendly too. Plenty of car parking. Will certainly dine there again

One of my worst dining experiences ever. I went here on a Sunday around 5pm with my son, daughter in law and two young grand kids. it was reasonably busy but not hectic. . We ordered 5 drinks and the waitress brought the kids drinks 10 minutes later. I expected the others to follow but ten minutes later I had to ask her where they were. We then ordered three adult Sunday lunches and pasta for the kids. My son and I wanted the slow cooked sirloin of beef but they only had one portion left, so I had the chicken, along with my daughter in law. 30 minutes later the food hadn’t arrived so I asked the waiter if he could find out how long it would be. He came back a few minutes later and said it was being plated up. Another ten minutes later it turned up at the table. I knew then that it was going to be a bad experience.the half chicken was extremely dry, as were the roast potatoes. They had clearly just been kept warm for a long time. The cauliflower and broccoli were undercooked. The other chicken was the same and my son said the beef was really tough. I sent my meal back and declined the offer to order something else (bearing in mind how long we had already waited.) my son and daughter in law would have sent their meals back but they hadn’t eaten all day and were really hungry. The apology from staff was half hearted. We then ordered a dessert for the kids and my daughter in law asked for a crème brûlée but was told there weren’t any left, so she didn’t order anything else. When the kids ice cream arrived, it was vanilla and not chocolate as requested. The waiter then said the chef was actually making her a crème brûlée but I was gob smacked when it turned up. The top was soft and underneath it looked smelled and tasted like cold scrambled egg! Absolutely disgusting. I wasn’t charged for my main course or the brûlée but the bill still came to £68. When you pay £18.50 for a Sunday lunch you expect it to be of good quality. Staff didn’t even offer an apology upon paying the bill. Definitely won’t be returning. Poor food and poor service.

Had bottomless brunch drinks were not very flowing and very watery had to wait half hour for one order!!! tried to order another drink but was told not while other people had a drink had to wait

Very disappointed the food was awful, frozen fish mushy peas terrible chips to match served with a can’t be bothered waitress oh well . Will not go again .

I must say , I booked my wife's birthday due there and nothing was at fault, food was amazing, top service, and just the general ambiance around the place, 10 out of 10 , thank you pawel and Emily, also the other young lady working with the team, obviously to the kitchen team. Fantastic.

Food nice, service wanting. Never came to check if meals ok or wanted condiments. Waitress not really busy but had to go to bar to order desserts.

Went back to the. Castle for lunch today. No where as good as my last visit. The pub was cold and uncomfortable. Food not as good and they had no lime for lager.

We had a lovely meal here! Both the kids menu and the regular menu have lots of good traditional pub foods with some amazing pasta dishes. The Caesar salad was the best I've had, with lovely thick anchovies and a good amount of crispy bacon. Booking recommended for weekend lunches. The staff had very sensibly placed our table and another with a high chair close to the till and bar area, which hopefully meant that noise from our toddler didn't travel so much towards other diners.

A great place for a family lunch. The food was great - unpretentious pub food but with classy touches and good quality ingredients, well-prepared. The staff were friendly and helpful. Really good value for money.

Called in for a quick spot of lunch one Friday recently - this fish cake covered in pea puree immediately called out to me. A friendly large pub in one of Sheffields most pleasant suburbs

Sadly, not as good as it used to be, which is a real shame. Used to eat here often but have been away for a few months and decided to catch up with friends over lunch at the Castle. I’d swear the rotisserie chicken had been reheated, or deep fried, as it was dry and just not great. Also, my friends fries were more like scraps and also seem to have been reheated. The waitress, although efficient, didn’t make any effort to engage and didn’t smile once. To top it off, the place was chilly and the decor is now getting decidedly shoddy and stained. Such a shame that this was one of our ‘go to’ places. Not sure it will be now 😞

My partner and I had a wonderful evening meal at the Castle Inn. This was our first time and we was not disappointed and I would fully recommend. Great food and the staff was very nice and helpful

We booked this for a meal after a funeral. I was so pleased that despite numbers in double figures we were not asked to pre -order,something that would have been inappropriate for such an occasion. The whole atmosphere was relaxed the food was lovely and importantly all plates arrived at the same time. Staff calm and friendly. All in all.Excellent and thank you.

Went with my husband this week, the pub was really cold 🥶 and everyone who was there eating was sat in there coats, not one radiator on, not what you really want when you are going for something to eat, you want to take your coat off! food was ok

The staff are friendly and the food is great in a lovely traditional pub , I’ve eaten here in the summer and sat outside and inside and was great and would definitely recommend. Visited this October and I must say please wrap up warm inside , my food went cold quick and I ended up eating it fast as was so cold, I won’t be eating back here again I’m afraid until the weather warms up.

Very nice local pub with excellent food including gmany gluten free options. I thought the GF flatbread was especially good, significantly softer than the average cardboard based pizzas you get elsewhere.

Really good food but the service was very poor, after our main course the plates stayed on our table for a far too long time, In the end I had to beckon a waitress to come and clear them away. It also took for ever to ask if we wanted a dessert. Good food spoilt by disappointing service

A hot day, but the curry choices on the specials sounded so good we had to try. They were so good especially the beef rendang, gorgeous!

The pub is more settled now it has a longer term manager. Quite smart but has a smaller bar which allows dogs and children into. There is also a terrace and paved area outside of the weather's good. I've only eaten here once but it was good food. My wife had calamari and the portion was a little small but did taste great. Beer wise Abbeydale's Moonshine and Bradfield Breweries Farmers Blondes are regulars and are always kept well. A good pub for a passing pint. 11/3/23 Popped into the snug and had friendly service and cliente. Recommended.

I'm really conflicted about this place. I had an excellent burger, and I love all the different cheese options for the burger, Have I ever mentioned that I'm a bit of a cheese fan?, but the fries were really really bad, surprisingly bad. So I'm not sure I will be returning, maybe it was the intern in charge of fries?

Not been for a while but wasn't disappointed Sunday lunch was lovely all fresh and very hot and lovely gravy but pub in need a good make over very dated come on guys keep up with other pubs .

Lovely dinner with friends all the more spectacular because of the incredible thunderstorm going on outside - didn't matter too much to us as we were having a meal and drinks and could stay put until it subsided. Food and beer selection was excellent. Had the seafood linguine which was lovely washed down with a fine local ale. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Very patient while we deliberated over the menu. Meals all looked so good. Tasty meal choices were plentiful and freshly cooked. Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream a real winner with grandson. We will certainly be returning.

The three of us had different meals. The rotisserie Chicken was described as tasty The beef bourbignon was massive My mussels in sauce were absolutely delicious and very plentiful. Excellent and friendly service by the two people who looked after. Well worth a visit.

Bearing in mind this is a residential area pub, I wasn't expecting a huge beer selection. There were 3 keg beers and mine was fine. The pie was tasty but the chips were hard and I left the minted mushy peas. Had a funny taste and were watery. That said, it is a nice friendly pub and worth a visit

Attended for lunch on Mothering Sunday 3 adults and 2 doggies, the Castle Inn was very busy. We placed orders for starters and main course, starters arrived very quickly but it was then nearly 40 minutes for our main course to arrive. It was quite difficult to attract staff attention, I feel that being Mother's Day perhaps was a mitigating circumstance for the long delay, the food had good flavour and well presented.

Not local to the area we visited with friends on recommendation. We commented between us that our reception was a bit 'underwhelming' so it's interesting to see that others have commented on this. That's where the negative ends. The pub area was a good atmosphere. The staff in the restaurant were attentive, helpful & friendly. The food, of which we all chose different, was lovely and of good portion size. I would definately return.

Meal OK but expensive for what you get. Didn't feel as if I'd had a treat or luxury meal which is what I was expecting.

We've been today at lunchtime for a Birthday celebration meal. The menu was extensive & all 4 of us had a different meal which were all excellent.The service, food, drinks were all spot on. 100% recommend the Castle Inn....

Lovely atmosphere & friendly staff, who were very attentive but not pushy. The food looked wonderful as it arrived & was amazing. We have been a few times & have decided to make it a regular venue.

After a very friendly welcome, we were treated to excellent service. The food was extremely well prepared and plentiful, so much so that we couldn’t manage the usual pudding. To cap it all they served my favourite beer, Bradfield Farmers Blond which was kept in excellent condition. A great evening in a traditional Inn

We booked a table here after it was recommended to us. We all ordered something different from menu. The food was superb, especially the steak and ale pie. It was great to see a local ale form Bradfield Brewery on sale. We will call here again when we visit the area again.

Amazing tasty food, great drinks/wine, ambience and service. All for a reasonable price too! Usually amazing, food served in a bucket is not cool.....

After several visits with friends and as a couple, my wife and I have enjoyed our evening meals. We were confident of consistency in the quality of the meals. Indeed previously I wrote a very positive review. Sadly tonight it was so different and so disappointing. We ordered fish and chips, which previously were delightful. This time many of the chips were burnt, and probably re-heated. The fish was not as fresh as previous, and the batter much harder, again probably reheated. It wasn’t consistent with previous servings. It was also very noticeable that our meal was delivered within a few minutes of ordering, which both surprised and concerned us. The bill showed an overcharge for a drink and when questioned the waiter stated that the menu was probably an old one showing a previous price! The bill was amended to reflect the price listed in the menu - not good. Very disappointing as we had looked forward to another visit . Richard Cowley

Went to celebrate my nephew’s birthday. On booking, they told us the restaurant was full so we’d be in the marquee but it was heated and cosy. It was far from cosy, we were cold and had to get blankets from the car to put...

A bit soulless, not the "local" it was once, although that may be a reflection on the neighbourhood rather than the pub.

One of best gastro pub meals we have had in a long time. Great beer too. Well worth it, make sure you book though.

Nice local pub with good food and drinks

The food was ok, the gammon was chewy and hard the eggs were cooked perfectly. I asked for chips with my order and I only got around 8 chunky chips. The staff lacked awareness, when they were taking our food order the staff member taking the order did not check for any allergens. The plates were sat on our table for around 20 minutes even though we are sat right next to the kitchen the staff are still unaware that the plates need clearing.

On our way to a different bar for lunch and stumbled on the Castle we decided on the 4 bites rather than a large meal boy did we get a big surprise . The food was delicious and plentiful, we could not finish it all....

Been a few times, food is always very good and reasonable prices. Nice wine!! Excellent service as well. Always a good night out, will be back

Took our disabled son out for his tea really enjoyed the evening, food was really good hot and tasty staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend this pub
