We went on Monday for the first time since the refurb. We had such a lovely time. The food was excellent, the cleanliness was spot on and the staff were so friendly. Will definitely be back

Had the pub classics. The pie was especially good, pastry all round not just a lid on top. The only slight downsides were the muzak and the number of tv screens but we were able to find a spot away from them.

First visit very large plenty of choice where to sit table well presented and clean,good choice of food polite staff

Its now a new seared franchise pub. A well thought out premises inside with a few tables outside. The food is above average and some can be great and tasty and others just big and blande. So choose wisely and you won't be disappointed.

Had a voucher 50%off bill so thought we would try it. After we booked it i looked at reviews & they were quite poor, so wasnt sure what to expect. We could not fault it, very welcoming, food excellent & service first class. It was very busy but we did not have to wait long for our food, we shall come back.

Over the years, The Castle has never gotten it right with the food... until now. Wow! Had the medditeranean platter for 2, and I can't wait to go back and have it again. The juiciest, perfectly marinated chicken. Lovely, welcoming staff, too. See you soon!

Our first visit, enticed by a discount voucher, but definitely our last. We went on a Thursday evening, and the venue was quite busy. We ordered and waited for 45 mins before we were given the wrong order. We then waited another 15 minutes before our actual order came (we both had ordered the same dish) and most of our food was frozen - yes, actually solid, cold frozen! Whoever thought that was acceptable to be sent from the kitchen ought to fired. We felt so sorry for the very hard-working Restaurant Manager, who did what she could for us, but which ultimately resulted in a full refund, and us vowing never to return!

Lindsey amazing polite brilliant table management and table service couldnt ask for more went above and beyond . Megan with the drinks order was super fantastic . Tia with her full of life became the great atmosphere of the whole evening . James great bar man full of giggles . Highly reccommend u try this place coz it’s astounding with great staff x

Really enjoyed our dinner at the castle pub. Took parental units for dinner, it was Awesome.

The pub looks stunning but apart from that its bad. Terrible service which manager put down to new systems but last time we came (before the most recent bar refurbishment) we had a similar experience. After attempting to give it another go we really regretted it. We waited 1 hour and 20 for mains which after two conversations we had with the manager was STILL not ready. A table sat behind us which was seated 40 minutes after us had their meal before ours (one eating something we had on order) Honestly its terrible. The communication is terrible. The service is a mess. The building refurb looks great but is pointless if the basic fundamentals of providing a service are none existent. Avoid at all costs if you plan to eat.

We use this place regularly but tonight has been the worst experience. The service in the restaurant area was painfully slow, it seemed the waitress was more occupied talking to friends than serving, so slow in fact I went to the bar to get my own drinks. The chicken wings were over cooked and hard almost inedible. The burgers and steak asked for as medium were infact well done. We even had to ask for the Coleslaw, that was supposed to come with the burger, as despite waiting for an absolute age for the mains it was not complete when it arrived. Then, to top it all having received the bill it included an item we had not ordered. I can only express our disappointment.

People are friendly and chatty. Service is good takes orders before 12 pm but doesn't open the kitchen till 12pm . Food is very nice good size portion and is always hot. We go early for lunch as its always very busy with a little time. They do very good deals 👌 different ones for days of the week . Breakfast are stunningly good.

There is very little vegetarian options - really struggled to find something (there used to be more options than there is now)

My partner had the fish and chips. There was a lot of fat inside the fish. It seems like the fish was cooked in cool fat.

It was a spare of the moment discission to visit the Castle and it was so nice to be welcomed by the Staff. The meals came out lovely and hot and the service was second to none. I would recommend family and friends to visit. Well done 😊.

I visited the Castle for the first time recently. I came with two friends who had recently arrived on holiday from Australia. Needless to same we were all very disappointed. The Castle wasn’t busy as it was early in the evening. The young girl taking the orders was very pleasant. When the meals arrived .two of the meals were not according to what we had ordered. I wanted chips instead of the baked potato. My meal arrived with the baked potato which was burnt, a black colour. It had been reheated. I complained, the chips arrived, all 8 of them . They had been reheated! The rump steak was fine. The sauces were inedible, the onions, peppers were cool and soaked in watery juices. My two friends had issues as well, poor quality meals. The bowl of mushrooms did not arrive with one of the meals. They arrived after we complained. The pub has overstretched itself. The so called’ Seared’ menu is meaningless as far as I am concerned. I will not be visiting the Castle again unless it changes for the better.

Had a variety of small plates, very tasty, good price, good service on a Sunday at 4pm. Nice modern interior, very clean. Free parking. Glad I visited to try it out, will come back.

First time coming to the pub and we were loving the place and the food all on the menu looked amazing however sadly once we had received the food it didn’t live up to the expectations for example the cheese sauce on the Philly cheese steak burger wasn’t a cheese sauce it was cheese jelly on the side of the plate. also transpired in the chicken skewers as they weren’t grilled and over cooked. Staff were lovely at the place had a nice feel sadly the food let it down a lot

Been to Seared twice now since it’s refurbishment and have been disappointed both times with the food. First occasion I was served raw chicken (very much uncooked, still transparent). This occasion the food was really disappointing again. It’s obviously a very popular place for the young crowd of the local area and price wise is decent - just poor food.

An all round great experience. Lovely refurbishment akin to a Cosy Club in the restaurant area but bar still clearly defined with sports coverage. Menu varied although chicken heavy. Food arrived very promptly. Was expecting quite low quality given the price and previous food served but it was very good for a very reasonable price. We will definitely be visiting far more often and we’re very impressed with the friendly and welcoming service and atmosphere, too.

Table service is slow, from point of ordering to receiving food on the Table is painfully slow. Out of 3 meals I was overcooked one was undercooked, so 1 meal was sent back. Waiters tried to come and take away our plates whilst we were still eating. AVOID

Partner and I decided to try out the castle since it’s refurb upon arrival we noticed 60 odd dirty glasses still on tables that hadn’t been cleaned away to we then got taken to table to be told it was only table service to then have to wait a further 15+ minutes to which not one member of staff asked if we had been seen to or had our order taken to which we decided to walk as we weren’t waiting any longer just to be ignored

Oh dear...new facelift...looks cool but oh dear!! I've sent my simple meal back twice! Mediterranean vegetables with chicken...first,no veg...then the chef must've just chucked a few freezing cold veg on the top n hoped for the best!!!.so it's gone back to the kitchen!now, I've had to sit n watch everyone else eating ...still waiting!! Disappointed to say the least.... won't be returning.

Went today and was pleasantly surprised. Building is beautiful outside, decor inside is new and not to everyone's taste I would say, could be a bit classier tbh. Waiting staff were all very attentive and polite, all excellent. I ordered South American rump steak and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. It was a really nice thick cut of beef and the cook had cooked it to perfection. Really exceeded expectations.

Went for a 50th birthday meal with a big bunch of people family and friends most of food was nice but quite a few meals were very under cooked raw chicken I've been very ill from eatting a indian chicken burger a family member sent hers back as mine was covered in sauce I neba noticed and about 8 of the guests were all over charged awaiting a refund my partner was told at the end of the nite there was an outstanding table of food and drinks but we found they were a family members who was over charged and the table number was mixed up but they paid for what we paid for so yet to contact staff over that as 30£ is abit much to let fly the pub is a nice place to go for a drink but what ever u order food wise check apart from that it is a gud place to go when not busy

The food tasted as lovely as it looked and very well presented. The waitresses were polite and courteous and very approachable, the atmosphere was easy going and light. We had a lovely evening and will definitely be going again. P.S I highly recommend you try the melted chocolate sharing fondue platter....Wow! Thankyou.

1st time back after refurbishment looks really good now. Service and staff excellent. Food delicious however is was not very warm which was a disappointment. Menu choices not as extent as the old flaming grill

Food was terriblw, oily and greasy. Disappointed with the menu was better before the refit seemed to have ruined the place not worth the money going.

Very clean. Friendly service. Waitress was Taylor. Knew what she was talking about and was playful with us. Menu was extensive. Felt like a harvester without having to go to a boring salad cart and having to get your own drinks. Food was great. There was a lot of it. Food was all good quality and well presented and hot. Puddings were nice and it was good to have a vegan ice cream choice. 👍🏻

I had lunch here and the menu had a good amount of choices on it. I had a bacon burger and fries and it met the standard expected for lunch food. The staff were prompt in their service and the establishment was clean. Overall it was a nice pub with nothing to complain about, but me personally it was nothing spectacular that would make me specifically want to go again. A good place to get some food for a normal day

OK, NO great choices of real ale

Yet again a great night out with friends. The food was excellent, I had the Philly steak burger and the steak was cooked to perfection. For sweet we all had the Bao buns, wonderful. Staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming, it was especially nice that the manager was taking time to chat to customers. Looking forward to the next night at Seared.

Top quality food... 10 of us booked a table ..food was great... Good selection of drinks. The only thing I would point out is... the rum & lemonade was filled up to the top. With lemonade.. so couldn't taste the rum ... Shorts should be filled about half way so you can taste the drink . Will go again though

Went here forgetting it had been refurbished. Totally different inside. Nice and bright . We were shown to our seats via a lift as 1 of our group is a wheelchair user . Looked very promising. Then we looked at the menu and began choosing... 1 of our group requires blended food, the kitchen couldn't do this & said the food we chose isn't blendable. ( we do meals everyday & know what we can & cannot blend for this person). We were told that if we have to leave without eating the drinks would be free. We decided to get food anyway as we had our own blender & jug with us & they needed to eat. We asked to swap chips for mashed potatoes, the kitchen does not serve mashed potatoes so then we chose jacket potatoes thinking with butter it will be smooth & creamy, they were hard & came dry, we got 3 little ovals of butter when we asked.we made it work in the end but Looking back we should have just left without eating ,it felt like we were asking too much or being awkward. having a wheelchair lift helped but disabilities arnt just down to limited mobility. Being an eating establishment and not realising or tending to people who have different needs concerning food & eating is terrible .

Oh... my... gosh...! What an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and portion size was fantastic. It was all cooked fresh, and was so tasty. The menu was just absolutely amazing!! So much variety of different styles of food, it isn't like "normal" pub food but so much more variety than just the boh standard. You can actually taste foods that you wouldn't necessarily have in a pub! The staff were amazing as well, so polite, friendly, and just made great recommendations, super fast as well. I can not wait to go back again, there are so many different foods I want to try. We had the tikka burger, corn ribs and the deep fried bao buns, with the cherry blossom mocktail. All of these were just delicious and I'd have them all again in a heartbeat!

Refurb is nice but the food and menu poor. Too many options. No quality. Burger was burnt, lamb shoulder dry and warm not hot. Starters really small for the money but tasted better than the mains. Greasey deep fried desserts. The bao bun dessert was full of it. The fondue for the kids was great but again, weird grease nachos type things around it and pieces of bao buns. Strawberries and waffle was edible. Just think they need to concentrate on some quality not quantity. Didn’t seem like they could handle numbers. Dessert took 40 mins after food to come out. I didn’t complain as I was with a lot of family and don’t like to cause fuss in public. But wouldn’t recommend to a friend. Hopefully it gets better here

I went for a meal here recently with my partner. The food was amazing and great value for money. I was definitely not left hungry when we left. The lady who served us was helpful and friendly. The lady greeting at the door seemed a little less, let's say enthusiastic than others. This didn't effect our evening We will definitely be coming back again.

A little more attention in the kitchen and an otherwise mediocre dish could have been excellent, overcooked and a little dry having undoubtedly sat under lights awaiting delivery to the table

Recently refurbished inside and out, we were impressed with the decor. Clean, tidy and refreshing pub with lots of spaces to eat and relax. We ordered a shared platter £24.95, the Caribbean one. Perfect amount of meat and very tasty. Our only complaint, if you could count it as a complaint, is that we would have liked more vegetables, slaw and sweet potato to increase the size in keeping for two to share!

Visited for a spot of lunch. Hunters chicken had no bacon, chicken was pink (raw) and cheese was slimy. Jacket potato was half cooked, still hard in many places. Would not recommend

Dinner for 3 people, starters were OK, they wanted to bring main course immediately after we'd taken last mouthful of starter, managed to get a 10min gap between. My steak was rare as requested but was dried out on top (obviously kept warm for ages) and inedible) grilled tomato was hard. Best bit was tiny baked potato but they're hard to ruin. Noisy atmosphere, like eating in a canteen. Definitely wouldn't go again. So disappointed. Expensive, poor food.

Only called briefly for a pint. Pub was busy and bustling due to Premier League football being shown on the screens. Nice to see lots of customers, however, since the latest refurbishment, noise has increased due to the acoustics.

We had a great meal here for a family birthday, the food is such good value and the new menu is lovely. It's really great to have somewhere that makes eating out affordable but also have more choice and variety of food. We probably spent about £10-15 a head on food, drinks and this included dessert for most of our party.

We had steak which was lovely and hot and it was nice to have a jacket potato instead of fries all the time, the jacket could of done with some butter on it and i was very disappointed that no-one asked if we had any allergies

I’ve been coming to the castle for many years, however since their recent refurbish the atmosphere is just brilliant, we had an amazing meal, the food was great, we absolutely love the new bright colours and Camille was an outstanding waitress, she was soo friendly and welcoming! The castle is our favourite pub and we’ll definitely be coming back. Well done to the staff, you’re all doing an amazing job. ♥️
