Cast Iron Grill in York

Was ok not great, me and my partner both ordered medium rare steak yet mine was very rare whereas hers was cooked as requested

If this wasn't in a city it would be half the price for the quality of food.

Bland food, with not much option for allergies

The food was amazing but when the lad asked do you have any allergies I said yes "tomato and fish" his reply was Okz todays special is tomato soup then brought the food out and it had tomato on it, but apart from that it was good, think some training needs to be done as if it was someone else with a allergy who relied on a epipen could of been a lot worse very dangerous

Other half ordered a pizza and I ordered fish and chips. The pizza was really burnt on the underside so he didn't eat it. Whilst my fish was OK the chips were frozen which was disappointing a surprise for a 4 star hotel. With so much choice in and around the area more of an effort is required. The restaurant was very quiet for a Thursday evening. Speaks volumes.

Great service and friendly staff - could do with more gluten free options on the menu

Totally disappointed - Ordered a steak (it was a mi - stake) full of sinew. Menu advertised it at £30...was charged £32 plus £5 for fries plus 12.5% surcharge...totally unacceptable & in fact disgusting. Will certainly not be promoting your Restaurant. To say the least was expecting a delicious steak served with fries etc etc.

Delicious food...but. £32 steak, all good, but £5 for the fries to go with it and £5 for a side making it £42 Fine perhaps for business expenses accounts, but we weren't the only leisure guests pulling a face at the pricing structure. Breakfast was in general very good...but... Fab cereals and cold choices, fab selection of breads preserves etc. Hot food on the buffet, mostly hot, despite being under heat lamps half way through breakfast service, bacon cold. Grilled tomatoes cold. Black pudding cold. Plates in the plate warmer...cold. at 8.45am. Breakfast served from 8am - 11am. Too much prepped too far in advance. Suggest smaller batch production early morning to mitigate this issue. Mysterious jar of maple syrup, but nothing else...at 9.30am...homemade waffles ( actually very good) appeared but no evidence of the waffles until well over half way through service ? With just a few tweaks the dining experience could be outstanding !

If I was to be honest the breakfast was a little poor because it was left on hot plates too long , the staff were very good and the restaurant was clean and tidy ,it was a shame because I love my breakfast s.

If your looking for something to eat try the burger, one of the best I've ever tasted

Amazing food !! Out this world !! Best service, best food & best atmosphere, above all staff made my daughters 10th birthday a day she will always remember, no requests, all done by staff, even know they were really busy having a fully booked hotel, that did not effect there level of welcoming service provided, before our meal we already loved the atmosphere in this hotel, All staff do the company proud & offer a unbeatable service !!! Wish I could name 1 staff member but every staff member from floor, pool, reception, bar, restaurant & passing in & out doors has been amazing, all deserve credit We will be back !!

Came here as staying in the hotel. Food was expensive so was expecting a good dish. I was not disappointed the food was amazing. It is quiet when I dined. Steak was perfectly cooked and chips were crispy on outside and fluffy in the middle.

We were passing by and stopped to eat here. unfortunately it was evening and it was raining a lot so we rushed inside after leaving the car in the parking. no one told us to put the vehicle registration.we received a letter to pay £100 for the parking. we called the restaurant, they was very rude and they didn't help us. ridiculous!

Quiet today, but unexpectedly excellent Christmas lunch

63 pound for a chewy steak 2 drinks and a poor buffet would not recommend presentation was good just a case off making a s##t shine

Delicious and very pleasant service! Access possible if you are not a hotel guest. We recommend :)

Enjoyed appetizer and main dish. Dessert was not what was described. Was supposed to be a tart, but was rubbery was cut into a pie wedge and served with lemon curd after menu said raspberry sauce. Was disappointed. Waitress dumped food down the back of one of my co diners.

Lovely place but very expensive

Good starters. Sketchy steaks - ordered 4 fillet and 1 rump special - chewy and dry 3/5 of them. One was so tough / gristly we had to send back. Great staff and service and hence the 3rd star. Eat here if you don't have an option / feeling lazy else better options in town.
