We’ve been coming here 20+ years. We especially love the croquettes, the garlic shrimp, scallops in saffron sauce and the sangria. The creme brûlée is wicked good.

We tried Paella in Barcelona and loved it. So when we came back to Toronto, and our friends asked us to join them for winterlicious, we agreed. We were all traumatized. I don't think those who tried Paella here for their first time will try it ever again! The Paella was just soaked in water and extremeley tasteless. We felt like we're having soup. There were 2,3 small shrimps and lots of water-boiled onion. I haven't seen anything like this at all... how on earth one can combine shrimp, rice, onion and bell pepper and make it taste like nothing? They don't use spice at all... Imagine paying around 150$ for two and trying this... don't waste your time!

The food was very good. For summer-licious it was odd for them to combine the options into three meals as opposed to letting you choose one of each category, though they were flexible if that's what we wanted to do.

The food is decent. The octopus cooked to perfection, not mushy, not chewy, just right texture with mild seasoning The ox tail is of large portion with rich flavor I do appreciate the mini size paella. My least favorite is the "pizza" The menu is quite traditional, not contemporary. The decor needs a refresh badly The price point is on the high end in relation to the overall value

Very welcoming and attentive staff. Cold meat and cheese selection was very tasty, we ordered 5 hot tapas as well but unfortunately these were not authentic Spanish plates imo, sorry to say but they were very bland and not the best quality. Theyre trying to be Spanish but not pulling it off. Not for us.

This restaurant has the potential to be very good, and perhaps back in it's day it was. In 2024, I feel that where the atmosphere of authenticity is warm and cozy, the food was nothing to get excited about. The owner is a nice man who made efforts to speak with each group of dinner guests in the restaurant, so for that I tip my hat. I just feel it's a restaurant that is in need of a new head chef as apposed to the owner running the helm. I can't say the food was bad as such, rather I would describe it as average food you would get when visiting family and not necessarily at a restaurant by a trained Spanish chef. It was over priced for what was presented. I hope the owner(s) read the comments here as it seems to be a general theme. We all want you to do well, but some changes are needed in order to keep your diners returning for more.

Food tasted really good and their combo menus were well balanced and filling. And I loved their sangria! I went there for my Valentine’s dinner and it was a great choice!! I read not good reviews about the restaurant and I wanted to try by myself and I was very disappointed with the "Spanish " food and the presentations . I am familar very well with the Spanish cuisine, but in this restaurant the paella is more like with the Chinese food , but not Spanish paella, very bland, I could not taste this food at all. Some are okay, but if the restaurant position yourself with Spanish restaurant the chef must prepare the real Spanish food.

The food was, however, just OK. We ordered one of each of the price fixed Winterlicious menu items. They tasted OK but very bland. We were all used to the very flavorful Spanish food from the likes of California. Their paella/saffron rice were more like Chinese fried rice and also very bland. The best dish was their calamari appetizer. I really hope the owners would do something to spice up the food more and make it more flavorful.

Prices are high, I assumed because of the area, but each dish is a delicacy of gods.. Tapas means appetizers , so some dishes are small. And paellas main courses are good size to share for 2 people.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining out at Casa Barcelona after a long dining out hiatus, and it was truly a wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in, Eddy and Nivea welcomed us with open arms, creating an inviting and warm atmosphere. Eddy, our attentive host, went above and beyond to ensure our evening was memorable. He expertly guided us through a selection of four wines, all within our budget, allowing us to choose the perfect complement to our meal. His knowledge and passion for wine added a delightful touch to the evening. Now, let's talk about the food—every dish was a culinary delight! The team at Casa Barcelona has mastered the art of creating delicious, tantalizing tapas that leave a lasting impression. The flavours were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. In summary, Casa Barcelona exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From the warm welcome to the exceptional wine selection and mouthwatering tapas, it was a delightful experience that I can't wait to repeat. The food and service were exceptional. The fabada (bean stew) from the specials board was packed full of flavour and was as good as Joe, the owner, described. After visiting a Tapas restaurant called Chia Tapas in Lymm recently, which was exceptional, we thought we'd give this a try. On arrival, we were happy as it looked like a nice restaurant and seemed very friendly. We could not fault the staff. We were quite disappointed with the food, though. We ordered calamari, which looked like onion rings and clearly weren't freshly made. They seemed as if they were out of a frozen packet, which was disappointing. We ordered meatballs, which never arrived. We ordered a mixed salad only to be told that we'd actually ordered the mixed seafood platter. Upon realising this, we asked for it to be changed only to be told that it was too late. The mixed platter came, and the salad didn't. The platter was average, to say the least, a mixture of prawns all coated in breadcrumbs. These also looked like they came out of a frozen packet. We mentioned this to the waitress, and we said we weren't eating it or paying for the platter. This was taken off the bill without question from the kitchen. It's a shame because it looks like a lovely restaurant with a good atmosphere and nice staff, but on the whole, it felt like what we ordered was like an ultimate combo at a Brewers Fayre. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Summerlicious ordered the paella which was flavorless, without seasoning and far from Spanish. The owner advised that in order to keep his cost down it was not his regular paella. From the look of the ingredients he must need his cost to be in the 20% range. I expected for summerlicious that they would serve smaller portions of their best food. It was replaced with a fish dish which was beautifully presented but equally tasteless. Don't waste your money. McDonald's would have been more satisfying and $140 cheaper.

We went to Casa Barcelona for Summerlisious. The owner pre-set menu options to menu #1, 2, and 3. He said it is easier for him. In any other restaurants, we had a choice of appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. In case, we had to follow the owner's choice to " avoid confusion." Taking our orders took 20-30 min, as we wanted to mix and match. I ordered paella and could eat it at all. It was a mix of uncooked rice, some seafood, and a lot (a lot!!!) of fried onion. I am a sensitive eater and cannot see fried onion on my plate. The paella had no taste, as it was missing saffron, salt, and any other spices. For dessert, I had churros. They were tasty but not fresh (not from today, and probably not from yesterday). I've been to many Spanish restaurants- this restaurant was by far the worst one. The service was good, and the owner told us about his life. I cannot recommend this place. At least for the summelisious, try something else.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at this restaurant. Being from Spain myself, while I appreciated the effort put into creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, I must express my disappointment with the overall culinary experience. Regrettably, the food failed to capture the essence of authentic Spanish cuisine. One of the main reasons I was drawn to this establishment was my love for Spanish food. I had hoped to indulge in classic dishes bursting with vibrant flavors and rich cultural heritage. However, I was sorely let down. The dishes I ordered simply did not resemble the traditional Spanish flavors I had come to expect. To begin with, the paella I ordered lacked the distinctive blend of saffron-infused rice and succulent seafood that characterizes a genuine Spanish paella. Instead, it tasted like a generic rice dish with an indistinguishable mishmash of ingredients. The absence of the signature flavors and textures left me longing for the real thing. Furthermore, I decided to sample the tapas selection, hoping to savor a variety of small plates that epitomize the Spanish dining experience. Alas, the tapas served were a far cry from the tantalizing array of flavors I had hoped for. They lacked the authenticity and attention to detail that would transport me to the lively streets of Spain. It is regrettable to write such a negative review, as I truly appreciate the effort put into creating a welcoming ambiance. However, the disparity between the restaurant's reputation and the actual execution of the cuisine was too stark to ignore. If you're seeking a true taste of Spanish gastronomy, I would suggest looking elsewhere. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the restaurant, as I believe there is potential for improvement. With a more meticulous focus on capturing the essence of Spanish cuisine and a greater attention to detail, this establishment could truly provide an authentic culinary experience that lives up to its reputation. Please note that tastes and experiences can vary, and this review reflects my personal opinion based on my visit to the restaurant.

We had a lovely summerlicious lunch outing at Casa Barcelona. Clean and nicely decorated establishment Staff was welcoming & hospitable. We enjoyed everything we ordered but the only thing that would have made the experience top notch is if they allowed patrons to choose what they liked from the special menu for each course (app, main, dessert). Instead, had course #1-3 combinations preset already (they did allow dessert to be subbed but appetizer and main had to be the two that they selected). I’ve never seen that done during winterlicious/summerlicious.

My husband and I paid $35 each for what they called a special that served us a small child's plate, so since my husband was obviously still hungry I mentioned to the owner that the plate was super small so he said he'd fix the problem and he offered he could make him a bigger full plate, but to our surprise he charged us $40 for a regular size plate of lots of rice and some pieces of beef in a stew. Needless to say my husband was very unhappy. The food was good but everything was so deceiving. We first got someone else's receipt as we were being charged for half a little of wine plus our meals and some extras we never ordered, than he changed it to over charge us with $40 dollars of which at the very max it might of cost him $7 to make.

Went for Summerlicious. Food was lackluster. For a set menu at this price point higher quality was expected. Sangria was good however.

Terrible, mediocre to say the least. Ordered a sangria and it was so water down that there was no wine flavor. Will not return

Came for summerlicious, website allows you book 11:30 reservation, menu shows lunch starts 11:30am, door sign shows 11:30am, so we booked 11:30am Sunday morning. We arrived 11:45am door locked, owner opened the door very grumpy said “we open at 12!” Nicely he still seated us but rest of experience was his grumpiness not only towards us but also other guests, the group after us was also informed by him “every body has reservation, but we open at 12!” It was real difficult to enjoy the meal after, food is okay, appetizers tasted good paella a bit blend, the female waitress was polite and helpful. But I won’t return.

The closest thing to authentic Spanish food (mainly Castellano to me) in Toronto I ever had in 7 yrs. Their Paella are truly cooked in the Spanish way. They actually have many types of paella. Read the menu first, the owner has been changing and accumulating dishes to adjust to the taste of general Canadian customers. If they explicitly name it as spicy paella , and you still take it, don't say it is too spicy. Octopus was great. I was a bit disappointed that they do not sell cold tomato soup, a traditional Spanish appetizer anymore just because it doesn't suit the taste of general Canadian customers. But the altered version with mango was great. Customers are entitled to post both negative and positive comments. But the comments have to be fair. To those who said this restaurant isn't authentic enough or it is outdated , do your research about Spanish food culture and tradition first. Authenticity does imply a high degree of following tradition. You can't just keep the food "authentic " but change everything else. It is the whole package: the foods and the environment. Serving green tea in Starbucks or McDonald's doesn't make the drink "authentic" even if the tea powder was imported from Japan. I listened to the story of the owner about how to keep altering the traditional dishes just to survive the business while looking at my Spanish tortilla that was supposed to be egg and potato cake being reduced into another western omelet........ I felt his frustration and realized why it took me 7 yrs to look for Spanish restaurant. Because the demands of some unreasonable customers killed many authentic Spanish restaurants over the years. But if it is what the market like, we can't do anything. But at least be fair. You said you wanted authenticity, they delivered it then you said you don't like it. They tried to change the way you prefer, then you say it isn't authentic.......... You can post and say what you like but pls be fair.

I ordered a paella and I was totally disappointed, 100%, it had no flavor, it was in the paella pan stirred up when the paella is not stirred, I realized very late, because while they were preparing it there was no aroma in the sea food restaurant, I ordered Garlic Bread and the bread was not a tasty baguette, it was such a soft bread, like Subway, with garlic butter, super soft, not to my liking, and the Spanish tortilla, it was not a Spanish tortilla, it looked like a crepe with onion, also had no flavor. My companion ordered Angus Beef, it was the only good thing. I immediately went to buy an ice cream in other place, I lost my money so and imagine that I play poker, what a bad paella! because additionally it is very expensive.

The owner of the restaurant was very offensive, he says that people from the Dominican Republic, Greece and other countries are ""disgusting"" dirty etc. For my part and my family we will make this known at all levels that we can, TV, social networks, etc. things like these we can never allow to happen. . I would like to point out ,his wife is very professional, polite and kind person.

The prices are ridiculously high. We ordered a Spanish tortilla which is a staple and main dish in Spain. We looked at it and almost laughed. It was a flat bland egg pancake with sliced potatoes on top. Unbelievable for a Spanish restaurant!! We ordered a paella for one person ($60) and could barely find the rice, good amount of seafood but it didn’t taste very good. The food was so disappointing..never again

This place is super outdated in many ways- decor and food stand out the most. Decor looks like it hasn't been moved, replaced, reupholstered, or cleaned in the 25+ years they've been open. Ordered a small tapa style paella, and noticed the old and off tasting mussels in my paella. I took a bite but had to spit it out. Took a while to get the attention of the server who finally passed by. Asked for the bill right after, and it included the food I sent back right away... had to ask them to adjust it. No explanation, apology, or trying to make my experience better.. Long story short, I'd rather check out any other restaurant in the world than come back.. how this place has been open this long boggles my mind. Really bad experience overall. Two thumbs down. 👎👎

Very disappointing. Where to start??? We ordered the set menu (tapas) for two $100 along with an extra tapas (appetizer). They did not bring us any water. They did not bring any bread. Our extra tapas (appetizer), they brought at the end of the meal with the bread because they forgot about it. They forgot one of the tapas, until I mentioned it and they did not bring the right dessert. We asked for salt and pepper because the meal was bland. The pepper came in the plastic bottle that you pick up in the grocery store. Not classy. We also received someone else's bill. Poor service. The dinner for two is only enough for one person. Needless to say we both went home hungry.

We had a wonderful lunch at Cafe Dolce. Very friendly, helpful staff and excellent food and drinks. Loved the Avocado smash on homemade potato waffle, also the Peach and Mozzerella salad. Yummy strawberry milkshake (I asked for non dairy milk and it was no problem). We even managed to squeeze in a mobility scooter next to the table. Highly recommended!
