Caffè Nero in Lancaster

Good enough coffee shop that I frequent quite often. However, service is incredibly slow. I don’t think I’ve had a visit where I’ve been served and received my drink within 20 minutes. They always seem short staffed and seem to prioritise Just Eat and other online delivery platforms rather than their F2F customers. Things need to change here.

I always find cafe Nero to be a bit dirty. The staff are pretty disengaged, but that's just because they seem to always be extremely busy. Good food usually, though like many coffee shop chains, they seems to be reducing the filling levels. In sandwiches and cake size.

Came in today to buy 4 drinks to take out,which we do quite often. Was greeted by 2 very young polite girls, who were no more than 18. The young girls were in training (by their labelled tops). Clearly these girls were left alone to run the place,which was extremely short staffed and extremely busy. The tables outside,and inside ,were full of dirty used pots,which by looking at the ,que, the girls did not have time to stop serving on the counter to clear. The young lady that served us was becoming very upset to the point of shaking,as was not trained enough to be left with her colleague on the counter and unsure what to put in various drinks. 2weeks training she had been given! The young girls were running around and making mistakes with drinks(which is understandable).There was no other member of staff for them to follow as he was having a break!!!! After the man in charge appeared,I mentioned to him that the girls were upset,and more staff were needed to cover his break!! His reply was “I’m entitled to a break!!! I was told “this is happening everywhere very abruptly. He did not have the slightest bit of empathy for the girls,and for his customer care let’s say”it left a lot to be desired,maybe he needs serious training in this department!!! Well done girls you both stuck it out and my heart went out to you both. The place was a complete shambles today due to no staff. Maybe new management is required in your Lancaster store!

Nice small cafe with good service.

Needs to expand ,seating capacity inside is minimal, pleasant staff. Queue can be busy at times that would be customers tend to leave instead of queuing up,reason for 3 stars for service.

My favourite coffee in Lancaster. Good service and the best coffee in my opinion. My one issue is that its so popular that there is often no where to sit. It is a shame they can't expand seating capacity. It is rammed from mid-morning until close.

They are dog friendly and I go there nearly daily after taking my dogs for a morning walk. I have made many friends here and if you see two huskies in the window. They are mine.

Absolutely love this coffee shop, always friendly, helpful staff providing superb coffees. The only drawback is the physical space of the cafe, the Lancaster branch is becoming busier and seating is very restricted more often than not.

Clean store and top service with nice ambience atmosphere. Ordered salted caramel and pistachio frappe cream, tasted like the red flu medicine you give your kids. The latte is nice tho

Great coffee and we had a raspberry pastry aswell x very nice, ground floor bathroom at the back of the shop. Outdoor seating if weather is good.

Nice cafe Nero but not exceptional. This cafe is especially slow even when it’s less busy. Waiting 10+ min when there is only one order infront of you is extremely frustrating. Staff are nice though.

RUDE EMPLOYEES‼️ had a really awful experience today, Jan 1st. Asked an employee a simple question and got sarcasm, an eyeroll and rudeness back. No apology when i called him out on his behaviour. Would not recommend going there and i definitely won’t be back.

Not the greatest although v small so difficult to be high quality all the time. Generally the coffee is not quite as nice as other outlets such as Kendal

We just had hot drinks in Cafe Nero in Lancaster. It was very warm and welcoming and much cleaner than the one in Blackpool 😊

Nice enough coffee and friendly staff. But the decor is dingy and needs an overhaul. And please make sure the lightbulbs are all the same. The variety of color temperatures is quite disturbing.

Busy Caffe Nero branch where the staff were concentrating on the queue for drinks and food, understandably. Clearing tables was taking second fiddle but we managed to make some space at a table by moving dirty crockery. Our coffee, tea and two toasted panettone went down well and we had a good break for 15 mins or so. All in all? 4 stars. A good stop off while we decided where we were going in Lancaster.

A quick call for Sunday morning coffee & cake. First time back here since it was redecorated a few weeks ago.

Went in with my child and there were flies literally everywhere, even the toilet was full of them. I understand that it's summer but I've never been in a shop, cafe or restaurant with that number of flies in it. Child wanted a cake but I had to tell them no because there was a fly actually inside the cake cover. I don't think we'll be back again for some time, especially not in the summer.

Blueberry cheesecake is really good. Love the coffee. Prompt service.

his Coffee Nero branch is just like any other one, with nothing particularly outstanding. The coffee selection is good, offering various types to choose from. During my recent visit, I decided to try the special version of the Frappe. As expected, it was delicious, but I couldn't help but notice that it was quite sweet, probably due to the excessive sugar content. Additionally, the price for this promotional drink felt a bit steep. Nonetheless, I was well aware of what I was purchasing, and I wanted to treat myself to this indulgent beverage. Despite the minor drawbacks, I still enjoyed my visit and the delightful coffee options available.

Would have given 0 stars if had the option went in Sunday 9 th July stood at the counter and was blatantly ignored by staff . We just walked out eventually along with 2 other people . Obviously don't need the customer, s.

Picked up togoodtogo...had a coffee outside in the early evening.Nice and clean outside compared to many other cafés in Lancaster City centre,it seems cafés Nero understands the Mediterranean touch we're trying to implement in the UK in summer...'proud of the outside as well as the inside'

This is by far the best high St coffee shop this side of Milan, not prejudice at all, courtesy is as standard the place gets busy, deal with it, perfect real coffee shop, keep it real people, fabulous

You know, I didn't used to like Cafe Nero at all but now I am really impressed. The decaf tea is very nice (compare it to say Costa where it is tasteless and difficult to brew up) the lunch sausage roll with salad is substantial and tasty for a good price. But its the tiramisu cake. That's totally delicious and so so good. I am a regular visitor now.

Enjoyable music but the atmosphere wasn't good with some people who are talking on the phone like there were in a tunnel!!! No one

Hard working, friendly staff who dealt with a constant busy queue efficiently. I ordered a mocha and the manager made it to perfection. I would definitely recommend this café to anyone in the area.

I used to love coming here but it is a very sad reflection of what it used to be. It is very tired and a little grubby, no enough staff to get served quickly or to clear the tables. The clientele seem to think that a table is for life and there is no respect for personal space.

Would AVOID. I am a disabled lady with a illiostomy bag. I visited Lancaster yesterday with my grandson and called in for a well earned coffee. I was taken short with my illiostomy and it needed to empty it and whispered to a member of staff could I please use the disabled toilet and explained why. I was told point blank NO the toilet door is broke. I very upset customer

My wife and I are big fans of Nero and have visited the Lancaster branch every Saturday for a long time, always impressed by the quality of coffee and friendly staff. Today was a big disappointment. We were served by a tall young man wearing glasses. He spent too much time chatting to his colleagues and it therefore took too long to make the drinks. Not a big problem at that stage. When we sat down we found that both our coffees only came half way up the cup, the rest was froth. My wife went back to the counter and simply asked for a top-up of warm milk. Easy enough you might think. The same young man said "Cappucinos do contain froth." My wife responded that she knew that very well but the coffee was way down the cup. Instead of just getting on with the job, the young man once again stated that cappucinos contain froth. My wife had to become assertive and pointedly asked for a top-up which she finally received. This young man let down Caffe Nero and the Lancaster branch in particular. He needs to learn who is the customer and deliver the service that the paying public want. We do not want to change our coffee shop but this young man made us think seriously about doing so. Remember who is the paying customer and who is the service provider!

Brilliant coffee shop in the heart of Lancaster! It's warm and comfortable with a huge range of drinks both hot and cold, same as a selection of food! The good thing with cafe Nero is you know what to expect with high standards of coffee, staff and a nice relaxing atmosphere and this one is just that! Definitely recommend!

Not too bad. The cup was cold before they put the coffee in it. Same with the milk jug when i asked for an Americana with hot milk. Thats what happens when you have an odd couple serving you.

Ordered Cappuccino and Latte. Capuccino very good and "dryish" as ordered. Latte was served first, very quickly and probably using 'old' milk. Much too sloppy with no creamy milk on top. I took it back and another Barista (possibly bearded, possibly Manager?) assessed it with a spoon and agreed it was "too wet". They made another one which was fine. Thanks Caffe Nero (and the Manager?) for making it right and for an overall, very good customer experience. And 3 bonus stamps via Christmas cracker :)

Nice place, it was busier than expected but we could find a seat. The vegan sausage roll was worth it.

Nice coffee shop, good coffee and nice atmosphere. Staff seemed to know what they were doing and were efficient despite queues. Only downside was how difficult it was to get through the door with a buggy - one of the doors was locked so it was a narrow space to navigate. There isnt loads of room inside for a buggy but we managed to find space at the back and left our buggy by the window. It was snowing at the time so not weather for sitting outside in.

Popped in for a coffee while the rain passed. Not as many tables as we thought but did eventually find one that was available. Hot chocolate was good but the coffee didn't compare to a Starbucks.

This outlet of the franchise is located on Market square. There's seating available both indoors and outdoors.

Chilly as all doors open. People sat all around doing work on laptops. Didn't feel a welcoming atmosphere for lunch

The staff are always friendly in this branch. Clearly they are severely understaffed and that understandable considering Covid. However the windows are really dirty and the store was untidy. But there was only 2 staff who were working their ****off to serve everyone. Please don't criticise the 2 serving staff. They were awesome

Visited today, made to feel very unwelcome. It was made very clear that they were closing in 20 minutes so was made to sit outside at a dirty table with full ashtrays, our drinks arrived in takeaway cups despite not asking for takeaway, then soon after we were told they are shut now so you cant come inside. We just felt like a complete inconvenience to them and not like valued customers. Wont be returning.

Staff member was sadly a bit miserable but given it was a hot day and he had a mask and visor on its easy to understand maybe why. The cafe needs a good clean. Window ledges are a bit grim and the ledges around cafe full of dust. Seats a bit mucky and one was sticky. Staff member was alone with a queue so didn't want to trouble him for a cloth. Toilets were disgusting! This was my first visit and due to Starbucks having no food and sadly will be the last. The coffee was the only saving grace.

Pleasant and speedy service but once we were sat a while, noticed very little cleaning... Removing a newspaper was all the table next to us recieved... Not even a wipe down. Short staffed perhaps.
