Carvery Restaurant in Lichfield

Unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired- would not recommend. The cauliflower cheese was still frozen- when we told this to the staff, we only got an ‘oh no’ comment. Wouldn’t waste your time on a visit.

Had Sunday carvery plates too small Yorkshire puddings nearly black and nearly as big as plate Meats ok roast potatoes couldn’t cut they were so hard no green vegetables Sweets were all very sickly Very nice staff shame about food

A group of five adults enjoyed a Sunday carvery to celebrate a birthday, Our waitress Shona was friendly and efficient. The food was tasty and well-cooked. We all ordered two courses, some a starter and a main course others a main and dessert. We felt it was excellent value.

What a Gem this Hotel is...we went for a Sunday Carvery and was greeted by lovely staff ...the food was top notch and starters were a buffet style with prawns,salmon,salad and pate ,main course was a choice of meats Turkey,Beef,Gammon,which is served thick and cooked superbly then help yourself to veg......very very good quality and value, highly recommend

My wife and I booked in for the Valentines evening 2023. Shona, Carol and Sarah looked after us very well and the meal was excellent - as was the violin and viola duo We will come again

We went for a big family get together and enjoyed it. The only downside is the way they do their two course starters. It’s a very random salad bar self serve. With coronation chicken (I think that’s what it was there was description anywhere) pasta ham, rolls and salad just a shame as it let down what was a lovely meal. The car very was nice and generous with a couple of choice of meats. I had a bit of each and they were all lovely we all found the gravy far too overpowering though as it tasted more like a wine jus than a traditional roast gravy. Next time we go we will avoid the gravy as I had poured it all over my food (as I do like a lot of gravy on a roast) only to find that it was so strong it took the shine off the meal a. It. Didn’t put me off going back though. The staff were lovely too and very attentive.

I had a tasty three course meal from the set menu. Good food, friendly service and excellent value. Very pleased.

Had the carvery lunch today and was a little disappointed with the food. The service was excellent from the young lady but the main course was below par. The beef was very dry, tough and over cooked, along with the vegetables which had probably been sat in the hot plates for a few hours. The pork and gammon also looked dried up but we did not try. However, the Turkey was excellent, along with the gravy. The starters we good, soups and cold meat/melon platter etc along with the deserts. I think as it was quiet and late in the afternoon this may be have the reason for the poor carvery. Hope it improves. Alan

Attended with a party of 8 for a 95th Birthday Party, sat down in the lounge/bar by the bay window, freezing to say the least, decided to move into the dining are, freezing, asked the waiter to turn the heating up if possible, noted that a stand alone heater was adjusted, not good enough !, provide a warm environment in which to eat please !. On a positive note the starters and soup were excellent, no complaints there, the carvery was simply outstanding with a choice of 4 meats, quite brilliant !, all of the vegetables were gorgeous, the gravy and other comparible sauces were excellent.The service by the waiters was remarkable, attentive, polite and so helpful, the young man who served our table was so helpful and catered for our needs very nicely, we still felt chilled until mid meal when other tables started to get populated and body heat I guess provided the extra warmth, firstly shame on you for nor providing a warm environment from the onset, and shame on you for the coldness in the bar, not really good enough !. From a food point of view, very good indeed but could be great with a little more gravitas. Would we return, if the problems with the warmth were to be addressed then of course we would, but with winter arriving somewhat early perhaps not until the Spring/ Summer months, as an adage even the loos were freezing men's and women's. Special thanks for the plate of congratulations to my Father in Law a lovely and greatly appreciated gesture, and again a special mention to the young waiter who served us, a credit to your Hotel.

My wife and I visited today for a carvery meal, we were shown to a table and then asked what our needs were we asked for a carvery meal only, we were told that their restaurant only served served 2 or 3 course meals and were politley asked to go into the bar for a bar meal. Sadly we did not feel welcomed and left their loss as we have previously visited the George and have enjoyed 2 course meals before however, on this occasion we only wanted a meal. Don't think we will bother with this venue in the future.

Visited here for the first time very recently as part of a celebration for family members and we were not disappointed. We had a 3 course carvery with coffee afterwards on a Sunday and have to say the quality all round was second to none. The staff were attentive and friendly making sure we were ok and checking that the chef and food was ready to be served prior to us going up to collect our carvery. Overall an excellent visit one of which would highly recommend as we will definitely be returning sometime soon. Thanks to all the staff as they worked hard.

Too late for the lunch carvery as running late but sat in the elegant bar area and ordered off bar food menu. Excellent service and food. This is not a cheap pub food style bar menu, it's simply good quality and tasty. All enjoyed.
