My friends and I were on a bus tour for the giant causeway. We stopped for lunch in this restaurant. We arrived first, sat first, and our orders were taken first, which includes three stews. Note that these dishes were preoreded on the bus en route to the restaurant. Unfortunately, halfway to the timefrime given to us to finish our meals, our order has not arrived yet. I approached the girls waiting for our table and asked about it. They said that the stews were mistakenly given to other costumers and they have ran out already. The waitress assigned to our table apologized and offered us to fix some burgers, chicken parcels, or whatever was left in the menu but I declined because there is not much left time for us. I told her I was close to tears because of anger and felt disrespected. She then told me that she can fix some chips to go but I said, "It is never the same." And I apologized that she is the one on the receiving end of this mishap. Anyway, I recommend that you use table numbers to keep track of the orders that come in and which tables had been served. It is not the first time that you are catering for a large number of tourists, so I guess you should have also been prepared well for this. Lastly, if the restaurant and its man power cannot keep up, please do not agree with the travel company to feed hefty amount of people.

NEVER AGAIN !!!! Unless you're a local this crowd don't want to see you. No point in going into the details as it was a disaster from start to finish. And all we had to show for it after over an hour was one drink. The only upside to this kip is the place across the road. The Fullerton Arms is absolutely fine.... and the Rope Bridge Bar/Restaurant only helps to underline that. There probably isn't enough room on a review here to describe how bad the service was.

At 5 we reserved a table for dinner at 7.30. We had two pints of Guinness outdoors while waiting. The pints tasted ok. When I went in to pay, the barman said oh we’re closing at 7. I asked why. He said they’d run out of [most] dishes on the menu but they were happy to serve us at 7 anyhow. Hmm. We crossed the street to the Fullerton Arms where we were staying, and fortunately they were able to give us excellent food at short notice. My impression is that we had a lucky escape anyhow.

Got a 'shepherd's pie' which was just a pile of mince and gravy in a bowl and the tiniest tablespoon of potato hidden in the middle. My boyfriend's got a 'pasta bake' which more closely resembled some sort of pasta soup. Had some chips too which were decent enough compared to the rest. Unfortunately for us there are only 3 places to eat in Ballintoy, one of which was closed at the time, the other was busy so we decided to take a chance on this place considering it had decent reviews and didn't have a car to drive elsewhere. Also extremely expensive for what we ended up getting, suppose they can afford to charge that much when the closest shops/other restaurants etc are in Ballycastle.

We were driving through on our way to the Rope Bridge but first needed lunch. We saw tour buses unloading at the place across the street, so that quickly lost our interest. We opted to stop at this place based on reviews. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family. We visited this area in off-season, we were the only ones in the building when we first arrived, and the staff (especially our lovely waitress) sat and chatted with us about our visit and where we were headed. The food was also AMAZING. I had the Shepard's Pie and my husband the lamb shank. Such a fantastic meal, one of the best of our trip. We would highly recommend this restaurant!

We have clearly been misled by our travel agency that has promised that "this restaurant has commited to source the vast majority of its ingredients from local producers". To make a long story short, it is very very far from being true. We probably wouldn't react just because of the reheated Shepherd's Pie or the sachet pepper sauce on our steak. But frozen chips and powder mashed potatoes in Ireland, the kingdom of potatoes? Come on!

Being a coach driver and tour guide I will always take advise of locals regarding places to eat. Stating at the wonderful Sheep View Hostel I was told there was 2 nice pubs to eat, Fullerton and the title pub. I looked at Fullerton first but skipped as there was a Birthday party and entered the Carrick A Rede Bar, ordered a pint from a smashing lady behind bar and ordered food. Note when I entered the bar at 8.45 the Indian Chef served 3 people food. Another couple entered the bar and ordered food also just after me. So happy camper settled back with my pint waiting for some much needed food after a long day. Then the bar maid came back and said the Indian Chef had finished serving food. Talk about a Jaw dropping experience. I said to the lady Iv been on the road all day and starving and this Chef you had had the neck to serve people in the bar while we were there and then say he is stopped. The lady behind the bar who I must add was lovely please t and pleasing to the eye could not stop apologising. I said to her does this Chef know what he is at in a tourist area. A Chef from Fullerton across the road was in collecting food from the said bar and offered to russle up something for me so I drank up my pint and crossed to enjoy a beautiful soup and Sandwich. The Indian Chef would need to learn our culture and realise the tourist season is short and as the saying goes "Make Hay while the Sun Shines". To the lady behind the bar I give her full marks as she was so embarrassed by what had happened. For the couple who ordered food they left their drinks in discust. So I will spread the word amongst the Bus drivers to stop at Fullerton for Food and don't dare go near the Carrick A Read bar for food until the chef is shown the door. Shame on you.

This bar is one of my favourites in the entire country. I bring groups in here on average 3 times a month and I cant get enough of the place! Its a local experience that I have just never come across anywhere else! though the bar is small it actually adds to the craic, everybody sitting together and swapping stories chatting to the friendly locals and listening to live music, with the turf fire blazing! When Patsy plays there it makes for a perticularly fantastic night out. Hes very interactive with both locals and tourists and gets people up to sing ( if they want to ) :) The local ladies even bring along little sandwiches to pass around to everyone and sometimes little delicious cupcakes! If your unsure which place to choose for a night out as there is a bar across the road too, I find this bar far more enjoyable in my own opinion

We didn't expect an experience but this visit was a joy. I don't want to give an impression that this restaurant is head and shoulders above any where else in culinary terms, although it certainly holds it's own and a little more perhaps. It's rustic, it's informal, its inexpensive, it's welcoming and it's....fun.Our party of 4 adults and two children had had a trip along the coast to Balintoy harbour and needed to eat and warm up. The bar area was cosy and a peat fire was lit and it was quite busy, a good sign. The woman taking our order was no nonsense but attentive and communicated brilliantly. There were a couple of issues, just minor issues, which actually highlighted the professionalism and unpatronising approach of the staff. We enjoyed every moment of our visit and reckon that on our regular visits to Portstewart we shall be heading out to this establishment, the restauranteurs of the North Coast, and their staff, should head up here too to learn a thing or two.If you don't like this place...stick to McDonalds, cos you're taking up valuable space.

Had had lovely meals here earlier in the summer, so when guests were here for The Lammas Fair, took them expecting the same lovely meals and service. Meals were being served in the bar area but it was fairly crowded. Dining room turned out to be locked, so we went across the road to The Carrick a Rede Bar after having eaten here before too, who were not serving meals!. So down the road to the Red Door Tea Rooms, who had a coach party of a family reunion in the main restaurant, but offered to cater for us in the Garden Summer House, which was delightful. Food all served out to us with politeness and hospitality. Delighted with The Red Door, but have to say disappointed with both Fullerton Arms and Carrick-a Rede Bar!. Not a good shop window for Ballintoy and Causeway Coast tourism.

Seemed more like a locals place, where tourists weren't really welcome. Sat at the bar and the bartender (lady owner?) didn't have 2 words to say. Take your business across the street.

Can't fault it! Friendly landlord and staff, wonderful log and peat fire and excellent Guinness. Food delicious and excellent value. We both preferred this to the Fullerton Arms which is opposite.

We stopped here to eat on our way back from the rope bridge. There was plenty of room in the big car park at the rear, and when we got inside, we found that it was completely empty. We ordered our food nevertheless, and after waiting a long 30 mins - considering we were the only customers - along came the most delicious food, and plenty of it. Overall, I would definitely recommend the food, just that the service was a bit slow, but worth the wait I would say.

Our waitress was young, very friendly and efficient. drinks came quickly and order for food was taken with light banter. Three starters between four of us was ample, spring rolls, breaded brie (Scrummy) and chicken tikka. We shared all three as a platter and all of us enjoyed these. Main courses, the ladies had the fish dishes, Ballintoy Mackerel and Salmon, both enjoyed these and said they were delicious, a medium rare steak with ample onion rings, chips and grilled tomato and a Chicken Jalfreizi with rice for the men folk, again scrummy. The Curry was ace!! Again the waiter was young serving the food but was friendly and efficient. Waitress checked i to see if all was well and it was!! We found the Carrick clean and the service fine. A gallery of local turn of the century scenes adorn the walls, and views from the conservatory across to Rathlin are breathtaking. We had a lovely relaxing meal here and would gladly revisit, and recommend!,

Called in driving home from a drive round the coast. Place was empty, it was the start of the season, and there was one waitress working. She was pleasant enough, but when I asked for a highchair, she brought over an absolutely filthy seat that was stuck with dirt. It wasn't just residue from one prior meal either, there was mound growing in the straps. I asked for another clean one, and the second one was a bit better, she must have made an attempt to wash this one, but again, mouldy straps. I wouldn't have put a dog in that seat never mind my child. I used the bathroom, which wasn't much better. We had our drinks (after I had to send back a glass as it was plastered in lipstick), then quickly left. I don't know what the food is like, but I certainly won't be trying it.

Stayed in the free parking behind the pub in our campervan, had a really good dinner and lovely guiness. Ideally placed for both the rope bridge and Ballintoy harbour.
