We were staying in Bushmills and had a marvellous meal here. The tandoori cod was divine. Excellent choice of wines from carafe of house wine, half bottles through to serious cellar choices. Good service. Would recommend.

Been going to the Bushmills for over 30yrs and it is one of those rare places that has retained its traditional character, ambience, quality and excellent service over that period. If anything the provenance and excellence of the menu has gone from strength to strength. Thoroughly enjoyed this visit as ever.

The best starters we’ve had recently (crab tart and Guinness and onion soup). Very friendly service, the guys couldn’t do enough for us. We enjoyed it so much, we went back the following morning for a gut busting breakfast. Thanks guys, you haven’t seen the last of us for sure and as the Irish would say, ‘it was grand’

Went for lunch on a reasonably nice day, although it had rained earlier in the morning. We went with our dog but they are not dog friendly inside and when we went they said they would not be serving outside on the terrace. No idea why not. So basically no service. Don't think I would bother going there if you have a dog as no guarantee of getting any service whatsoever.

Went here for Sunday lunch with family from USA and the experience was excellent. The food was great and the portions were huge. Only downside was no wheaten bread with the prawn cocktail. The staff were all very good and helpful. Excellent selection of beverages from the red ale to the Italian craft cider. Lovely fire in the entrance hallway and we recommend here for charm, character and great food and service.

We recently took some friends for what we previously enjoyed Sunday lunch at the bushmills inn restaurant, very disappointed with the whole thing, introduction and welcome to the table good, service willing but very uninformed as to our guests dietary requirements, no info on the menu as to specify choices etc so we had to enquire as to suitability, it personally left us feeling very uncomfortable let alone our guests. Main meal not hot and again nothing special for the prices charged. Dessert good but overall poor.

We visited today and had booked for the advertised carvery. We understand that many places do not allow you to go to a counter at this time, but it can be done. The meal was served as a Sunday roast. It was a set meal, with no choice of portions and although it was enough for me, anyone with a big appetite would not have found portions adequate. There was just one small roast potato and a quenelle of mash potato. The cauliflower and broccoli mornay was a tiny portion, just a tiny floret of cauliflower and a tiny floret of broccoli. Sadly, the meat was all over cooked and the yorkshire was so crisp that it shattered on cutting. We ate at 2pm and maybe the earlier sitting would have had fresher food. Unfortunately poor value for money.

We decided to have lunch at the Bushmills Inn Restaurant after touring the distillery. The roast was very good, it was Australian country pub standard, which we enjoyed. It wasn't fancy, but it was filling, which is what we wanted. We didn't expect cordon bleu cookery, just a good, solid lunch.

It was a tasty roast lunch but so very, very lukewarm, coldish. Bushmills, again, needs to be told to serve at a warmer temperature. The only warm thing on plate were the roast potatoes and I am sorry to say, they need roasted more. Overall a nice lunch but the chefs should do much better.

Called in after the Causeway to have a look and get a cup of tea. We were thinking of booking it for again for a night away. Anyway it is very nice and charming. We were there late afternoon and asked for scones. They said they had scones but could not give them to us as it was after the time they were allowed sell scones. They offered crisps or pre packaged biscuits as an alternative. So my cup of tea was very lovely but my disappointment palpable that it could not be enjoyed with said scone! Most especially when they were sitting out in the kitchen and could hardly be given out the following day?!

Enjoyed an early meal here seated in an enclosed booth which was great to feel private and distant from other tables. The service was good and staff all in masks. The food was delicious and I was delighted that they allowed me to switch the sauce for my chicken to the Bushmills Cream which was supposed to be a steak sauce - it was amazing. Dessert of a chocolate and salted caramel tart was the icing on the cake.

We were directed outside because we were neither residents nor eating. We dutifully obeyed, sat at a table and received our drinks. Then - and only then - did they come out to clean the table previously used. It looked tidy and clean but were told it hadn’t been sanitised. We had been sat there for a few minutes. No track and trace. So who was there before? Should We now take a couple of weeks off work just in case? All smoke but not quite the full cigar.

We’ve enjoyed a lovely week in Bushmills and made the most of this lovely local inn. We’ve eaten out there 3/4 tines and always had great food, great service and the staff seem very aware of the safety issues around c19 with disposable menus, sanitation stations and restrictions in restrooms etc. I think some of the reviews are harsh and not focused on the great food and the history and atmosphere this place provides! We live locally and have had food/drink before. On this occasion we were with family who were home from England. We arrived early as we had been told on the phone that there was already a queue for the gas bar opening at 6pm and it was rammed! We easily got a table outside (it wasn't rammed?). I asked at reception how things worked and was advised by the guy at reception to wait outside until the gas bar opened. On waiting along with other customers we noticed that other people just arriving were going in despite this.I asked again at reception if there was a system in place and was advised by a (different) guy that we could come in and wait near the Gas Bar and it was first come first served. Had I been told this in the first instance, we would have gone straight inside and waited. It was a 'free for all' with no staff supervision. Hand sanitiser at the door was not being used. Staff were not wearing masks nor were customers asked to despite many of them not adhering to social distancing. There was no track and trace system in place to record names and contact details. A waiter provided paper menus which were being reused by other customers. We waited several minutes before he returned to ask if we would like a drink. We asked for the wine list and if there was dairy free or vegan cheese available. He disappeared for several minutes and could then be seen taking orders from other diners. After 30 minutes my daughter went to the bar and asked if he had forgotten about us. He said that he was busy and would be over soon. He never arrived. Eventually a young waiter came and very efficiently took drinks and food orders. He attended us for the duration and was excellent. The food was mediocre and would not have been worth the full price had the eat out scheme not been available. Overall I feel that an establishment of this calibre could do better. A waiting list system should be put in place to ensure fairness to all casual dining customers. Track and trace and sanitisation measures should also be implemented.

However, the cheapest wine was 32 sterling - my partner wanted a wine which would odrdinarily cost max 20 sterling which was almost double that price! this was a very special occasion for us so we did splash out but there is no need for these prices during these times when eating out is such a special treat. i did feel Covid Guidelines are being adhered to very well.

Went to Bushmills Inn with high expectations this evening but k somewhat disappointed. Starters and main courses were very bland eg I had the salt 'n chilli squid which had no chilli whatsoever. My husband had the steak (lacked flavour), and his peppercorn sauce resembled gravy as it had no peppercorn flavour. Side dishes were also lacking in flavour. Even with the Eat Out to Help Out deal we felt our meal was overpriced for what we got. On a positive note however the desserts were good and the staff were very pleasant and attentive.

We have been to the bushmills inn several times and were looking forward to making the most of the 'eat out to help out' deal. We called ahead and were informed the restaurant was fully booked but if we arrived for 18:00 the bar would be opening then and serving food on a first come first served basis. We arrived approx 17:30 and again checked with one of the staff who told us to sit outside and wait until 18:00 and we could have a drink while waiting. We watched other people arriving and seemingly going directly into the bar but assumed there must have been some pre booked tables. At 17:50 we decided to go inside to see if we could get a table to be told they had no tables available as they opened the bar earlier to start serving. We and the people behind us were very disappointed as no one had told us the bar was opened early, in fact the opposite. The couple behind us also had been told to arrive at 18:00. The waiter we spoke to or the reception could have told us, instead we have wasted our time waiting and couldn't get a table.

We visited here for our anniversary dinner. The food was fine but totally overpriced for what it was . My lamb dish was £24.25. It came with one piece of asparagus, one baby carrot and a few peas. The potato dauphinois was an extra £4.75 and if I had wanted the luxury of some vegetables that would have been another £4.75! My husband ordered the sirloin and asked for medium rare but it was cooked medium. After being given the bill the waitress never returned to take payment. In the end we went out to reception to pay and were told that we could have paid at the table or at reception but waitress had not told us that and we had seen her take the card reader to another table. We were really concerned that no member of staff was wearing any sort of face covering. The only precautions against Covid was a hand sanitiser at the entrance and paper napkins and menus. There was only one way in and out so very difficult to social distance. Next time we want a delicious dinner at a reasonable price with impeccable service we will be visiting The French Rooms or Tartine where this is always guaranteed. Also we will feel happier because good precautions against Covid are in place in these restaurants which was certainly not the case in the Bushmills Inn

We stopped for food at the bar on a Monday evening. I had rang ahead to ask if we could reserve a table but was told the bar was on a first come first served basis. Fair enough. Turning up we were told the bar wasn’t opened for food just the patio or we could sit socially distanced at two tables for two in a small dark side room that hadn’t been cleared and looked dirty. Now all this in itself wasn’t a problem but the attitude of especially two members of staff was. We really felt unwelcome. If you weren’t eating in the main restaurant they didn’t seem interested. It was raining outside and only Three of the tables had umbrella coverings and they were suggesting we sit in the rain! Anyway we were lucky enough to get a table with a covering and enjoyed the food brought by two lovely members of staff. The desk staff should take a cue from them! Two stars because the food was good but the experience not.

My experience differed from other recent reviews. The food was excellent. We had the soup and salmon for starters and they were both delicious. This was followed by the catch of the day (plaice) and the sea bass. Again, excellent. For dessert, we had the toffee pudding and the salted caramel cheesecake. Again, very enjoyable. In regard to Covid safety measures, the waiter left the cutlery on the empty table adjoining us and sanitiser was available on entry/exit. Perhaps a one-way system could help on exit (as we weren't sure which way to go), but it had identical safety standards as other restaurants we visited in NI (such as Ox, Deanes EIPIC and the Poacher's Pocket).

Sat outside the Bushmills Inn on a lovely summer’s day with our newborn baby. A girl had a large dog, she then proceeded to take the dog off the lead. My husband asked her to put the dog on the lead as our baby was on the ground in a car seat. She gave a mouthful about her dog wouldn’t touch him. We asked the waitress to ask her to put the dog on the lead which she did. An older woman came out and put the dog on the lead and then gave a mouthful about the dog being nowhere near the baby. We told her that a dog should be on the lead, she then began to intimidate us by standing at our table. I said just to leave it and she then said I quite an aggressive tone that she advised us to leave it. We then subsequently found out that the woman in question was in fact the managers wife. After paying our bill one of the managers came and told us that the lady in question would pay our bill provided we didn’t come back. After leaving another manager confronted me and told me I left his daughter crying after asking her to put the dog on the lead. He then got into my space being very aggressive whilst I was standing with my newborn in his car seat. A lovely afternoon out as a family turned into a hellish of a time full of aggression and threats. Don’t go near the place, this is how management treat people especially after businesses reopening. Left in tears by an aggressive, rude manager. Simply because I didn’t want a large dog off the lead around my newborn.

I had booked a table for 4 for the Sunday Lunch, we had friends visiting from the UK and excited to take them to the Busmills for Sunday lunch. From start to finish it was one of the worst Sunday dinners I have been served. The meat was dry, the beef was full of fat, the dinners were cold, the gravy was cold I got very little in term of vegetables as I declined their carrot opion and had 1 small bit of cauliflow and a minute piece of broccolli. The roast potatoes were burnt and couldn't be eaten. It was horrendous. I didn't want to make things awkward in front of our guests and waited until today to speak with the duty manager, I have to say it wasn't positive and i would have fully expected some kind of compensation. I was just advised that they were sorry to me and my guests. I am so disappointed in the lunch and the way the complaint has been handed.

The food is fine. Poor squid. Good goat's cheese. Okay lamb. Decent peach parfait. Nice ambience. But simply too expensive. £40 for three courses. Which is almost the same price as its fellow Blue Book member, Ardtara, 45 minutes south. And the food at Ardtara is way way better. Bushmills is one of the few fine dining options on the entire North Coast. It doesn't need to be that good. But it would be nice if it were. (They also did little or nothing by way of Covid precautions - no masks on staff, a little social-distancing but this score is only based on the dining experience).

This time round we were extremely disappointed from the mix up of order followed by chewy roast beef with high fat content accompanied by undercooked carrots. This was followed up by butterscotch sundae dessert with vanilla ice cream and not honeycomb as listed on menu. Finally got our table at the back of the restaurant. Table cloth was stained which then made me worry about how clean everything else was. There was minimal social distancing. The girl gave us cutlery and napkins each. Leaning over us. Not sure why she couldn't of placed them on the table and walked away. I ordered the risotto which was bland and boring. My husband had the steak which was ok. My daughter had a burger which wasn't cooked and sent back. My son had chicken, mash and gravy. Gravy wasn't good at all. We have always loved the Bushmills Inn so this is not the review I would like to give to this lovely hotel and restaurant but after a recent meal there we were very shocked to see a lack of safety measures concerning Covid 19 which other shops and establishments have implemented. The girl who greeted us at the front desk was bright and cheery but the serving staff were very abrupt, unhelpful and unwelcoming. We had hoped to eat outside but despite booking well in advance they couldn’t accommodate this and it seemed that only walk ins there for drinking were given these tables. The conservatory was very hot and we had to ask for the windows and double doors to be opened, the response was the opening of two windows and none of the large double doors were opened so there was very little air circulating which is contrary to all advice about keeping public spaces well ventilated. The positive was the food which was delicious as always but unfortunately we won’t return again during the Covid 19 outbreak, we just didn’t feel safe in that environment.

Firstly the positives: the staff were wonderful, they made us feel very welcome the moment we came in the door and couldn't do enough to make us feel comfortable. The Guinness was excellent, and the restaurant is beautifully laid out and decorated. There are three reasons for the low score. Firstly while the food was nice (I had the salmon and my partner had the lamb) the quality was not sufficient to justify the price. Secondly the portions were quite small, I would recommend ordering side dishes, although this adds to the already heafty price. The third and main reason for the low score though is the lack of facemasks. We ate at several restaurants during our Northern Ireland trip and while the tables are sufficiently spaced here, this was the first restaurant we were in where the staff were not wearing some sort of covering. I would recommend management encourage this going forward as it is becoming the norm and goes a long way to helping diners feel safe during these strange times. We spent a lot of the meal, and the day after worrying about it.

The presentation was poor, the wild mushroom sauce was tasteless and the chocolate mousse was far too firm. While the service was good the meal itself was disappointing. There are alternatives in Bushmills and when we next stay in the Inn we would go to one of them. It's a pity because the breakfast was great and our room was excellent and the staff delightful. It was sad for me to return to a restaurant I had previously loved and had fond memories of. I brought a friend from Italy especially as a treat but in the end it was an expensive letdown. The meat was cold and obviously cooked from frozen. Not acceptable at such a high quality place. Service was amazing as always and the place beautiful but the combinations of food and flavours did not work. One may call it a matter of taste but when the cheese should be warm is cold, the meat is cold, the meat is tough when it should be tender then I am sorry that is not acceptable. Live reasonably locally and am a regular customer. Called in on a cold day for a hot drink and a snack by the fire. Only one of the fires were lit and the atmosphere was decidedly dull. Asked for hot chocolate made with soya milk or other dairy milk alternative. Waiter asked if we were residents???? and advised that we could not have this if there was no non dairy milk in the fridge .... they would only go to the shop to buy some if we were residents!!!!. The snack menu is limited and did not include a hot drinks menu. The discrimination against non residents, poor attitude and lack lustre menu and ambience were very disappointing. The Bushmills Inn did not live up to it's website description on this occasion. We went to the local cafe where non dairy milk was available as 'the norm' and where staff would happily have nipped to the nearby shop had there not been any. All served with a smile in a cosy atmosphere and a fraction of the price.

Had dinner here, historic restaurant and inn just a few miles from our B&B; (Causeway Lodge). Originally a coach house and stable, from 1608. Used as an inn, private residence, a chicken house and a bicycle factory over the years. Now a four-star inn and restaurant after renovations done 1980 to 2010. Lovely landscaping and outdoor seating areas. Exterior flower boxes were lovely. Decor inside was elegant and original. Restaurant sources its food locally, featured the farms on the menu. Ireland does not create its own wine, though, climate is too cool and rainy, so the only item on the menu that was not local was the wine.

Have eaten here on 4 or 5 occasions over a number of years most recently in December 2019. The menu is somewhat small but ultimately they are aiming for fine dining so that's to be expected, it does have variety to be fair. Food is well cooked, has lovely presentation and has good flavour. Staff are very attentive and the place has a lovely atmosphere. It is expensive though, most mains are somewhere between £15 - £20 without a side and the cheapest side is £4.

I visited the Bushmills Inn on November 26, 2019 as just a patron of the restaurant/bar. I had one of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant! The bartender, Scott, was wonderful! He was prompt, attentive, friendly and professional. The seafood pie was outstanding! I am not one of those people who take photos of their food and post it to social media, but I wish I had in this case! I had a whiskey and gin flight, as well as a couple more beers.. I stayed longer than anticipated because I ran into some fellow, friendly travelers and we ended up having a very nice visit! It was a very cozy experience overall.. complete with a real coal-burning fireplace in the bar. Not many places could top this!

A friend and I visited for a Meal and Movie night. The surroundings are beautiful and we were given a warm welcome. We both ordered pork starter, which was delicious, followed by steak, also quite tasty. The dessert selection was disappointing but my friend enjoyed the butterscotch sundae.

Romantic, posh, good food. An expensive meal but worth it for a special occasion. This restaurant was romantically lit with lots of interesting rooms and nooks and crannys. I had the duck dish with an Indian twist, which was delicious and I recommend it.

They coped well enough with our large windswept and wet group that had nearly been swept off the Giant's Causeway by the wind and rain. We two had seen all that years ago in sunshine and, as the Causeway has stood the test of time and is unchanged after millennia, we opted to bus it to the lunch venue for a warming and excellent Irish coffee and Guinness by the peat fire in the inn till they all joined us. Lunch was less exciting, a group meal of simple chicken and salad but it was OK and service was friendly and efficient.

Really disappointed, did our research and thought this would be a really good end to this part of our holiday. We are foodies and really enjoy eating out (and cooking in) and we like good wines. We had asked for a stable booth but got shown to the garden room, we objected and graciously were given the booth but at the busiest cross section of the restaurant. The wine we chose was not available and our second choice was ok though at nearly 40 pounds when it’s readily available at 13 seemed a big mark up. Food wise the starters were brilliant, the lamb good the steak was only ok, and for the price I’ve had a lot better. Staff took our coats but just pointed out where they were when we left. I’m summary over priced for acceptable food and wine. I’d try somewhere else locally

As part of our tour of the Antrim Coast and Giant’s Causeway our tour group had a prearranged meal at the Bushmill’s inn Restaurant. We were in luck. It was Sunday and they have a traditional Sunday Carvery here.

Returned to the Bushmills Inn, in a delightful setting on the Causeway Coast. I organised a family dinner for my relatives, and we all greatly enjoyed the meal. I had the Four-bird Terrine, followed by the Slaney Valley Lamb. The lamb was inventively prepared, with differing cuts and styles, and superbly presented with accompanying fresh potatoes and veg. I finished with the rhubarb and vanilla cheesecake - excellent with the ginger!

There were eight in our family staying at the Bushmills Inn. We opted to eat in the hotel restaurant after a long day of seeing the sights. So glad we did! Dinner was excellent, and the service was superb! We enjoyed the chicken liver parfait appetizer. Some of the entrees we had were the pork belly & scallops, the cod, & the sea bream. All were outstanding!. My daughter is a cheese afficionado and really enjoyed the cheese tray for dessert! Would recommend eating here.

I was with a tour group and we stopped in for a "Carvery Lunch" at Bushmills Inn. Ham, Beef, and chicken were available, and all was delicious. We went through a buffet line where servers dished out whatever you indicated. The food was luxurious, and from the looks of it, this is a very pleasant place to stay.

Last time we were in Bushmills we had dinner here and enjoyed that much that we decided to dine here again. There have been a few changes since our last visit but the decor is still warm and welcoming. The service was faultless and the meal itself once was delicious. It was nice to have another enjoyable meal here and next time in Bushmills we will certainly dine here again.

Being welcomed in the usual “you are very welcome here” fashion, we knew this was going to be a promising evening. And it was-despite running out of all the specials we ordered, no oysters, no special wine and no special dessert, we had the choices from the regular menu. Chicken liver parfait, lobster mac & cheese and the Irish cheeses were our substitutes and boy did they deliver! Could not recommend the restaurant highly enough! Couple it with a stay in the rooms and you’ve got a perfect evening!

We ate in the bar because restaurant was busy. The service was fast and efficient and the food excellent. I had the Irish Stew which at first I thought was a small portion but it was adequate, but not massive as described by the staff. The fish pie was good too and we were recommended to try the black chips, which were very unusual but good. Dogs are not allowed inside bar or hotel. However there is outside seating with dog bowls but signs all over the grassy areas saying no dogs so we left ours in the car. Such a shame they are not allowed in the bar areas like most good hotels.

On a wild, horizontal rain day, sitting by the peat fire in reception with an Irish coffee was a joy, apart from the open door draft! Way better than the Rope Bridge that day!

We visited the Bushmills Distillery and had lunch before to line the stomach. The Carvery was full so we ate in the pub. The beer was typically outrageous and a good thirst quencher. The menu is limited to typical pub food. Fish and Chips were good and I enjoyed the lamb stew very much. Small portions but filling. The odd one was the beef bon bone. They were a chopped meat that seemed fried. Would not order again but they are popular. Very historical dating back hundreds of years. A nice place to visit.

We’ve been here very often and always had a lovely meal ..I don’t know what happened this time but the meal both starter and main course although beautifully presented and with pleasant waiters was totally tasteless ..It was as though they had run out of salt and seasoning .. the pepper sauce had a little flavour but was like out of a packet rather than the rich creamy sauce we were used to .. was the main chef off Have they changed chefs? I don’t know but listening to Americans at the table beside us saying everything tasted the same made us realise we hadn’t lost our tastebuds ! Please Bushmills Inn, If you’ve changed your Chef .. change him again .. You need to bring back the original high standard you had.people don’t mind paying high prices if the meal is memorable for the right reason ....
