We were recommended this place and so glad we were ! The service was brilliant, food amazing and a lovely atmosphere. I would suggest that they put the correct telephone number on the system as the one that comes up is a mobile that goes straight to voicemail - whilst there we asked for the correct number which we were given so that we could book a table in the future. We will be back !!

Decided to stop in for lunch yesterday after looking around the plants in the garden centre. The cafe is dirty, tables left uncleared and we literally stuck to the table we sat at. Lattes were basically warm milk and the girl that served us was miserable and unwelcoming. Decided not to eat in the end, given the above. Won’t be returning.

On our last visit (May 2023) we were a little surprised at how rude the lady behind the counter was. We thought we would give the cafe another try today. Unfortunately, while my daughter and I were looking at the cakes, deciding what we would like to order, the young woman behind the counter told us rudely, she needed a table number before taking an order. There was no smile, words of welcome or asking us if we had decided what we would like to order. We decided to leave and find somewhere, where they would welcome our custom (Tiffin on Clevedon sea front happily managed this). The garden centre is excellent and we will be visiting that again.

We have been going here for years, last two visits just not the same. Today's visit-only skimmed milk available for our lattes, even then they were so cool, I requested they were heated in the microwave, flavour not pleasant either. Sadly we will only be visiting the garden centre in future. Such a pity as their Gluten Free cakes are delicious ( but no good with awful coffee)

The train carriage is a very nice novelty idea. My big problem was the outside seating area. It is filthy with rubbish strewn everywhere, There are water bowls for dogs but they obviously haven't been cleaned for ages. The ashtrays were an upturned flower pot on top of a saucer. They were full of cigarette butts & also not emptied & cleaned for a long time. I also don't understand why there is an old open front shed which has old bits of black plastic hanging off it. I always worry if areas that customers see are not clean & tidy, then how clean are the areas we cannot see.

This is a pleasant place to eat. Good food, although limited menu. Electric scooter friendly. Staff happy & helpful. The only thing that lets it down are the tables which are sticky to the touch. Have visited here for lunch several times, but yesterday 26th was awful. Quiche pastry thick and burnt, chilli filling for jacket potato was so HOT, had to be exchanged for alternative. Service was awful, twice we tried to get the table cleared , as desserts would have been ordered, but nobody came near to take plates away, or to ask if we required anything else. They could have taken a lot more money, if the service had been better. Will be a long time before we frequent this place again. (Party of 8)

Very disappointed today. Looking for somewhere for brunch before starting work and remembered Carriages. Was expecting it to be busy, and wasn’t surprised to find that the only tables available were outside. But I wasn’t expecting to wait ten minutes to place an order at the till, with no one in front of me, to be told that breakfast is only served until 11 (this was with 3 minutes to spare - and I had been standing waiting from quarter to) and no other food was able to be ordered until 12. Pulled in here on Sunday looking for brunch. Staff were friendly but only a laminated menu of Sunday roasts and a few specials were available. Food was not of a great caliber and i really expect a salad to be dressed, not just the option of a sachet of salad cream or mayo, it was dry and seemed old/tired. Its obviously a big draw for older people as the roast is quite good value. The 'carriage' part of the restaurant was, quite frankly, tired and dusty smelling. The carpet in the restaurant was in need of a vacuum too...we arrived at 12.00hrs so no excuse of having been too busy to clean. Won't be back.

I called in for lunch and sat in the railway carriage. It was quaint and nostalgic.I ordered a bottle of apple juice which was warm, not chilled. No ice was offered. The menu offered oven baked jacket potatoes,so I ordered one with cheese. When it arrived,it was obvious that the only oven that potato had seen was a microwave. It wasn't even cooked through,it was lumpy in the middle. The cheese topping was generous, but the tiny salad was tired and limp.I showed a waiter a solid lump of congealed lettuce that I had found in it,but he just muttered 'Sorry' and walked away.I gave up and left.Oven baked jacket potatoes are so much nicer than microwaved ones, and if that's what it says on the menu, that's what you should get if you order one.Mediocre food and poor service made this place hit the buffers for me,and I wouldn't return.

The food was hot and plenty of vegetables, also served desert and coffee or tea. It really is very easy to miss the restaurant if you didn’t know it was there. Located off to the side of the garden centre shop, all that’s visible is a quite unassuming wooden door with a unobtrusive café sign on it, with no hint of what lies beyond. Go on through however, and you’ll find a whole other world. First impressions with the large stone fireplace were something of a country pub, and whilst this is clearly not a pub there are nonetheless a few bottled drinks that you can have to accompany your meal. The counter was off to the right, and the whole places seemed extremely busy with many tables being reserved, although we did perhaps hit it at a peak time. To the left it opens out in to a barn like room, and around the corner from this and largely out of site is an old train carriage from which it takes it’s name. This was really quite remarkable, it seems very well preserved and is really quite an experience. There are lovely views across the garden centre and the hills beyond, and there are also some picnic benches outside for the warmer weather, as well as a Clevedon station sign on the platform!

There were a lot of tables that still needed clearing from previous customers which doesn't look good, but other than that we were very happy with our tea and cake - individual pots of tea and lovely fresh slices of sponge. The hot food menu looked good and very reasonably priced, other customers were tucking in to very generous potions of battered fish and chips, so we may we'll re- visit for lunch in the near future.

There is quite a good selection of light bites and fuller meals for an operation of this size. Alcohol is available with a very limited choice, one beer, one lager and one cider when we visited plus a wine list that I didn't look at. My curry and my wife's panini were acceptable quality. We arrived early and did not have to wait long. However, the place is popular and has quite a small kitchen. I noticed that a couple who arrived not long after us were still waiting for their food by the time we had finished and were leaving. There is a wood burning stove, but main heating is from a large hot air blower, which looks more suited to a factory and makes quite a noise when it kicks in. The name "Carriages" refers to an old (stationary!) railway coach attached to the main cafe area alongside a mock-up station platform. This provides a rather novel seating area, but can feel a bit cold as there is no locomotive attached to provide steam heating!

We visited her for lunch in the week. The menu is well priced and covers most tastes. It does get busy.

Visited for a late lunch today, ordered two cottage pies,,tea and a lager at the counter,no good afternoon from the person serving, but hey ho,the tea and lager came quite quickly the food a lot longer. The cottage pie was very tasty but had peas in it very odd and carrots that's normal. It was served with veg and guess what they were peas and carrots with a lump of soggy leeks. The peas in the pie were obviously from the day before because they had gone yellow, looked funny next to the fresh peas, gravy was lovely, and overall very tasty but need to offer different veg with the cottage pie,and maybe a smile.

I last wrote a review a couple of years ago about how great the cafe was. When my friend and I visited recently for lunch, we were pleasantly surprised to find it had greatly improved since our last visit. The new menu now offers breakfast and a wide selection of light bites and main meals. I'd also noticed there's more vegetarian options to choose from on the menu and now offers a variety of alcoholic drinks. My friend chose the cottage pie and I chose the mushroom stroganoff. The meals were good value for money with generous portion sizes. We later treated ourselves to one of their tasty homemade cakes. The service was brilliant and the staff were friendly. The cafe has certainly changed for the better, I'll definitely be visiting again soon.

We arrived to look around garden centre, not intending to eat.But we were tempted to try the cooked lunch, and so glad we did. The meal was freshly cooked and presented lovely the meal was full of flavour and serving of more than a adequate amount of meat and vegetables .

Food was OK, staff not overly friendly, they said they could not serve full meals in railway carriage due to Health and Safety! Yet you can get more than on moving train!

Had Lunch there today (27/9/16). Overall very poor. The water for the tea must have come from an urn which was not boiling hence the tea was luke warm & weak even with a stir. They did however change the tea but it was generally the same. I had cottage pie which was only just warm. I took this back for reheating so they reheated the whole meal in a micro wave with th result of soggy chips & the cottage pie now being hot on the top & luke warm underneath. Generally inedible & I left most of the meal & the tea. My wife had the potato & leek bake which was nice & piping hot but we were both disappointed with the tea. I will not be retuning as it was £20 wasted.

Second visit this summer, both times because Clevedon was so busy and we wanted to stop somewhere for a quick cuppa before returning to the city. Had teacakes, coffees and cheesecake. The cheesecake could have been fresher, but a minor quibble. The service is friendly and half of it is on an old railway carriage which is novel.

This has much improved since last coming here and we had a nice cup of coffee served by friendly staff .We sat in the cafe but you can sit outside or in the carriages. They do light lunches and meals.plenty of room and child friendly and disabled access but mind the step in the store to the cafe. The cafe is part of a garden centre so you might be tempted to spend on your way out.plenty of parking ,Afterwards visit clevedon court or clevedon it s self.

Taking a drink and some food in an old steam era railway carriage parked in a garden centre? It's actually quite pleasant, and whilst main meals are only served in the attached restaurant, there are plenty of choices for mains and snacks. The snack food is nothing special, but freshly prepared and nicely served. Slightly above average prices for the quality of the food, but the surroundings are pleasant.

Came here on the way back to Nailsea from Clevedon. Limited menu with a lot of fried food. I had the cheese and ham ploughman's which was ok except the bread was stale. Fast friendly service. The garden centre is not very big and the plants were looking a bit tired. Good selection of ceramic pots.

Yet again we came with great expectations. We wanted to have an early lunch and then browse in the garden centre. There were lots of people having coffee etc. Which I thought was a good sign. The waiting staff were pleasant but not over friendly. We ordered a variety of lunch choices. Fish & chips, ham egg & chips and plough mans .After what seemed ages the food arrived. The presentation was fine but very little on the plates! On an average of £6-7. Pounds a head we all thought the same that this was expensive. Not sure any of us we return again. I don't mind paying for quality over quantity but really this was so, so disappointing to say the least. With so much competition in and around the area the management need to re think this....

I think £7 for half the usual sized ploughmans was a bit high. We ordered two ploughmans, Half an apple, small pot of pickle, 2 thin slices of cheese instead of a hearty block, and no salad, but the baguette was OK. My mother ordered a jacket potato with prawns in a Marie Rose sauce, but it came with no sauce. When asked where the sauce was, the chef said.... and I quote... "I don't put the sauce on as people don't like it"..... we ordered a children's ham, egg and chips which was bigger than our 2 ploughmans put together, oh and the salad had a mustard vinegarette sauce over it, sorry but most children want ketchup. £38 for family of 4 was very steep for the quality. We won't be back.

Menu is not very large but ok. Prices well £6.25 for a prawn sandwich or £7.25 for a baguette seems expenisive. £5.50 for a jacket potato with cheese ?We had Hand Carved ham, egg and chips. My definition of Hand Carved Ham is cut with a knife, This was clearly machine cut. Ham was ok but not hand carved. Egg was small bordering on over cooked as the yolk was 3/4 solid. Menu quotes all main dishes are served with veg of the day and a choice of potato. This came with no veg.The other meal was fish and chips. This a good size bit of fish, well cooked and served with peas. So, the menu does not match the food served. Some of the items on the menu seem very expensive yet some are reasonably priced. When I see hand carved Ham on a menu I want Hand Carved ham not machine sliced ham. Hand Carved gives an indication of superior quality.Coffee was good.

Small restaurant within Garden Park garden centre - complete with old railway carriage for coffee. Always surprising as food seems to get better every visit. Only let down by Lemon Meringue Pie which is dry and stodgy with overly thick pastry. Highly recommended for lunch, morning coffee, or afternoon tea.

I heard from neighbours it was good food and they had homemade cakes ? But I have my reservations about the cakes! We did enjoy what we ordered but the service was a bit hit & miss. The young waitresses [excellent] were rushed off their feet, they could have done with an extra pair of hands. We may try the café again? The train carriage was charming and it takes you back in history. They only had two seater tables vacant. I was told on the phone you can't reserve! Its annoying when two people sit at a four seater table and can see that you need a table.

We paid £20 as a couple to go to the Saturday evening sunset event. Unfortunately it was not great. We arrived at 6.30, by 7.15 still hadn’t got a drink despite asking several times. We were then told it was only cocktails, my partner is not a cocktail person and we only booked as it said we had a choice of beer wine or cocktail. Poor cocktail menu 2 with 3 choices all very similar. However we decided ok and finally got a drink. After then asking another 3 times to order food we left at 8.20, totally no organisation whatsoever! It was a shame as the singer was brilliant and location great but service totally awful. Complete waste of money!

Had to shout for service as the worker was busy in the back office doing what looked like Facebook!!!! No apologies for the delay or my having to shout. Even the next customer had the same issue. Coffee was OK but nothing to shout about. Even though it was quiet there were dirty mugs, etc on a few tables. Come on.... Customer service is far more important than Facebook!!!!!
