Carre Arms Hotel and Restaurant in North Kesteven

I was under the impression that my wife was taking out for lunch, following my 70th birthday the day before, but I was shocked to find a full-on party had been arranged for me, attended by family and friends, many of whom had travelled from overseas. The hall, in which the party was held, was fabulous, as were the decorations and buffet. A great day and what a surprise!

Stayed overnight following an afternoon party. The party (for 80) was catered for very well with a good selection to eat. Drink choices of both wines and beers was extensive. Our room was very comfortable with a large bed (as requested) with tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was good either Continental or Full English ( we had one of each). A very good selection/choice. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

I had booked this specifically because their website 4 days previousl said they were serving roast lamb that Sunday. We took drinks to the table, now I know why. Not only did we wait ages for somebody to take our order which we had decided the items that we wanted to order were not there and decided to leave, when I went to pay for the drinks they wanted £10 for the large glass of wine and £4.70 for the shandy. A total rip off and the ambience was unfriendly and chaotic.

Took inlaws for Sunday lunch today. Service was excellent and friendly. The food was superb. Prompt service, amazingly cooked and very tasty. Strongly recommended.

My husband and I travelled from Cotswolds to see my sister close by. Chose this hotel as it was very central for us. Food was amazing at dinner and breakfast and service was excellent. Rooms clean and cosy. Will come and stay again. B and J Wheeler

Have visted frequently for 15 years, the food is always excellent and the service impeccable. The roast dinners are amazing, beef was cooked perfectly, home made giant yorkshire pudding was lovely, great roast potatoes and vegtables, the gravy is so good we always get an extra jug. Portion sizes are generous and excellent value for money. The fish and chips are fantastic. Staff always friendly, attentative and will do anything to ensure you have a great time. Childrens food was also lovely. They change the menu up every so often to keep it lively, and everything feels very homemade, fresh and delicious. What a gem of a place, its one of the best places to eat in Sleaford and we feel so lucky to have this in our town.

7 of us ate dinner here for a birthday dinner. The staff were really accommodating and looked after us well all evening. The food was exceptional, we each ordered a different starter & main and everyone loved their dishes. We'll definitely be back!

The Carres Arms is my go to place if I want great food and friendly service. It has never failed to impress whether you're ordering larger menus or the sandwiches. Lisa and Mick and all the staff are so welcoming and if you're lucky, you can sit in the beautiful conservatory with so many beautiful flowers and plants, that feels like a Mediterranean oasis in Sleaford.

Great food as usual but found our service disappointing. We were shown to our table and left for ten minutes without being asked if we would like a drink or even being given a menu. One of us caught the attention of a passing waitress to ask if we could get a drink and have a menu. She apologised to us and gave us a menu immediately. Our bottle of wine then arrived with the screw top still in place and no offer of pouring or tasting the contents. Unfortunately, the top was tight and was difficult too screw off. Our youngest group member had to oblige! However, our order was then taken and the food duly arrived which was much enjoyed. Our wine was finished so it was decided to order another bottle - but no-one came to our table to see if we were OK. We were looking around to try and catch a waiter's attention. It wasn't until one of us got to their feet clutching the empty bottle that a further bottle arrived, but this time the screw cap had been released. We sat chatting with our wine but no-one came to ask if we would like a desert. It wasn't a good experience and very unusual for this restaurant which is normally spot on. A complaint was registered when paying.

In summary food good, but service very poor. We were shown to our dining room seats but, after waiting some time, had to ask for pre dinner drinks and the menu so we could order soething to eat. Later, with no attention from the staff, I had to ask for more drinks. We finished the main course and until we left the restaurant nobody came and asked if we wanted anything to follow the main course. I complained to the proprietor of the absence of any service. We discussed what I meant by 'awful', and upon leaving the restaurant I was cat called by the proprietor as being rude.

If you are staying here make sure you don’t stay in room 30. It is impossible to open the windows when the kitchen is working as the extractor is right outside and the stink invades the room. When finally the kitchen had closed off and we could open the window we had very noisy youths shouting outside the window!This morning we now have the smell of bacon in the room. Would never stay again.

My brother and I stayed at the Carre Arms Hotel for two nights at the end of July. All the staff were very attentive. We had a small query about our room, but that was quickly answered. The breakfast and dinners were very good - excellent food! As a family run hotel, there is a very friendly atmosphere, and the staff have time for each guest.

Had a late afternoon main course meal - fish on plate - pork on plate - other than chips not a vegetable in sight. Apparently 'they are extra ! ' we are in Sleaford - in a veg growing county come on not even a pea on the plate - ' everything ok for you ' wasn't asked - I'm a local & this Hotel has really gone down in my estimation - won't be rushing back again ...

The purpose of our visit was to meet up with family and found Sleaford to be half way between North Yorkshire and Norfolk where we were traveling from. Having checked out previous reviews on the Carre Arms we were definitely not left disappointed. We had a superb Sunday roast, followed by gorgeous desserts. The waiting staff were extremely pleasant, efficient and very friendly. I am currently in a wheelchair following an operation and found it to be perfect for disabled access and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. I can definitely recommend this gem of a place. Thank you to all at the Carre Arms Hotel.

My sort of well run, traditional hotel style place. Food great with a few surprise items on the menu. Portuguese/Spanish, Italian influence. SERVICE ok. Decor and style a bit dated, fantastic log burner in the winter and brilliant outside seating for the summer.

We visited this popular hotel/restaurant for our office Xmas party! The evening started with a visit from a local carol singing troupe and we all joined in the the festive songs. This was helped with mulled wine being served by the owner to help with the vocal chords! We then had a superb Christmas meal with all the trimmings and then dancing to a great Disco. Well done Lisa and the team for getting Xmas off to a 5 Star Start.

Due to the scarcity of childcare options my partner and I don’t manage many nights out. So we were very much looking forward to visiting The Carre Arms for my partner’s birthday meal.

We eat here quite often as the food is consistently of a very good quality and the staff are attentive and nothing appears too much trouble. To cap it all the guest ales are ‘kept’ very well and as important poured very well indeed.

This has been a family local for years and we always get a spot on food when we come. I would definitely recommend this pub in Sleaford. No other pub like it in the town. It’s clean and well priced!

We visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for a late lunch, and sat in the conservatory - it really was beautiful and the gardening was superb..... I even commented that it looked like a show garden.

I visited this popular hotel on a busy Sunday afternoon service. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I ordered just a main course of Roast Lamb. The was served in a timely manor, with plenty of meat, a large Yorkshire pudding, and hot steaming green vegetables! Keep up the great work!

Went to carre arms with my 2 young kids , spent £20 on drinks, we sat outside round the back on our own , I’d made them half a ham sandwich each, they were eating it when the owner came out and told me I was rude for letting them eat it there I personally thought that was rude of her for saying that we had bought drinks and peanuts in there ,.. that was last weekend..today we went in and spent £40 while we was in there my son came in with no top on just to get another drink and was asked to leave ... poor lad stood outside like he had done something wrong and was quite upset , I didn’t realise we was in Spain and he’s 3 years old and no one was even at the bar other than us !!!i would of understood if I was in there with my top off , needless to say we won’t be spending our money here anymore which is a shame as we started to use it as our local , also both sides of the family were quite shocked at this standard of treating customers so will also no longer be going

Visited here on the run up to Christmas with friends. Very hospitable staff and tasty food. It was a Christmas menu, so would like to try the regular menu another time. Clean and good size G and T.

We were here for dinner in January on a Sunday night. It is one of the few places open at this time, for which we were grateful. We were the only people in the restaurant section although there were some others in the bar. The meat-based meals were good but the risotto arancini disappointingly bland and small. There are a couple of things to note: they do not serve 175ml glasses of wine, only 125ml or 250ml, peculiarly inflexible. There is a minimum charge in the restaurant area of £11.50 and they are unwilling to serve starter (ie small) portions there even if you offer to pay the minimum charge. This seems a crazy waste of food for small eaters. I could understand it if I didn't want to pay the full price. Service was cheerful but we had to wait over half an hour for our meals on a day when there were few guests.

We all stayed here for a friend's wedding and had two fantastic evenings and throughly enjoyed the food and whole vibe. Nothing better than arriving in the last taxi back from a farm in the middle of nowhere to find the landlord waiting for you with the bar open!

We were quite a big group so we waited a long time between courses. I had the soufflé to start which was very good. I had the burger for the main, it was very pink when cut open but so dry that I could not eat it. I was very disappointed. I did not complain because I was with a group of friends. My meal cost £18 in total which I thought was pricey.

Utiliza este restaurante en un viaje de negocios a la zona. Este hotel está bien ubicado con estacionamiento adecuado y para nosotros, teniendo en cuenta que llegamos en tren, también está junto a la estación de tren. El restaurante está muy bien presentado, con un montón de espacio y una decoración agradable. El menú es excelente, con una buena selección de comidas y la comida era de un alto estándar. Los precios son generalmente razonables aunque unos pocos más artículos especiales son un poco más caros. Los dulces aunque bueno no son excesivamente generosos en tamaño y son, quizás, no especialmente bueno para los precios bastante altos. El personal es atento y amable. En general no me puedo quejar de la armas Carre y sin duda volveremos de nuevo cuando esté en la zona.

Bien, no pagará por esta comida, y probablemente han tenido un argumento sobre la calidad de la carne. Al principio tengo que decir que el personal era educado y atento, pero no demasiado, que le permite hacer sus selecciones. Todo el mundo tenía platos principales, 4 x 1 x carne de filete de cerdo. Parece que me dieron la peor selección de la carne, y no demasiado grasos suficiente carne. Todo lo demás con la comida era absolutamente bien, asados, yorkshire y verduras era todo bien preparado. Puede ser una como todo el mundo parecía disfrutar de su comida, y como he dicho, puede ser que me dieron el último mucho, aunque la descripción como costillas de ternera pueden tener algo que ver con eso. Todas las comidas eran de £11. 50, dulces van desde £3. 50 a 5 libras. 25 sticky toffee y queso respectivamente, cafés de £2. 50. En general una experiencia bastante agradable, así que le daría una segunda oportunidad. .

Visited this restaurant as a group of 6 people. We all found the restaurant very welcoming and a good choice of beer, including some real ale. Menu had a great choice and we were all happy with what was delivered. I would definitely return here in the future.

Cannot thank Lisa, her Husband and team for making our special day complete. The food was phenomenal, everyone came up to us full of praise for it. Just pure quality. All the staff were welcoming and went above and beyond to help. My nephews personalised helium balloon came lose and went straight up into the eaves, 30ft high I like to add. And they very kindly retrieved it for us.Nothing was too much trouble for them. Just cannot fault this gem of a place. Very good prices too, you won't be disappointed.

Stayed here a number of times now. Hotel is as expected for £70. Some rooms big and clean. Showers a bit measly.English Breakfast good, kippers good. Would be nice to have a few more cereal choices.Staff friendly and want to do a good job.Food - just a bit inconsistent. Good if you like huge portions (I personally don't as have to eat out all the time). Venison was pretty tough and fatty, a tuna sashimi wasn't a seared pink fish as expected but a huge slab of grey overcooked fish. Would rather pay the same for smaller portions of nicer cooked food.

My friends and I met here to have a meal before we went off to a concert nearby...large busy bar, bustling atmosphere...we were sat in a nicely decorated room, very good friendly service, meals didn't take long to arrive. Excellent menu choice and a specials board. I had pie of the day, which was lamb and vegetables, it had a flaky pastry topping and home cut cooked chips. A little pot of delicious gravy accompanied my choice too. Portion was very generous and was worth the price of £11.50. Everyone enjoyed their meals too...(ranging from duck breast, scallops, chicken and slow cooked beef) Something for everyone. Have to say I hadn't expected to find "London style" food in Sleaford, so this added to the whole event.

We ate here for 4 nights in a row while staying at the hotel. Great core menu with daily specials. Steaks arrived cooked perfectly and the chef is very flexible and willing to alter/change menu items for fussy eaters. We also had a lovely lunch here - beautifully presented sandwiches made to order. Definitely recommend trying this place out.

I had not visited here for about 2 years. Very friendly staff and great food. A nice touch was the live music on a Friday night with two violinists playing beautifully.

The price of £30 a head, for a three coursemenu represents extremely good value.Large candles on each table and Christmas crackerswere a nice idea.As starters, we selected the Shetland mussels and the chicken liver parfait. The latter dish had agenerous serving of the pate, but could have donewith more than the three tiny slices of toasted baguette.We both ordered the turkey, which was beautifullypresented, with lots of potatoes and a large dish ofvegetables. Finally, we chose the salted caramel andpopcorn cheesecake and the Christmas pudding, bothof which were very good.Service was friendly and generally well organised, despitethe hard working staff being under pressure from thelarge number of guests.Overall, a very pleasant experience. I understand thatcompany bookings are made as soon as the menu ispublished, so if you want a table, it is necessary to startthinking about Christmas bookings well in advance.Recommended!

Was going on the music train so was short on time. They turned 4 meals around vey quickly and they were all delicious, very tasty and excellent presentation.Ate in the bar area and it was very nice, would recommend eating here to everyone.

We met friends and asked them to choose somewhere to eat. We were made very welcome, the table was well furnished and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was top notch and and although not cheap, very good value. If you are in the Sleaford area you should put this on your list of places to eat. You will not be disappointed.

Called in for drinks whilst staying with a friend in Sleaford. Lovely ambience, good service but most importantly a great pint of Bass. If you enjoy a decent drop of ale and you're in the area then look no further. You'll not go wrong here.

We had to leave another hotel on the morning of a family wedding. The owners are so welcoming, we booked an early check in and it was ready before we were! such fantastic service. The Carre Arms is spotless and immaculately maintained with a stunning Victorian Conservatory. Thank you for the tour and for saving our wedding arrangements. :)

I came to the Carre Arms Hotel for Afternoon tea with a dozen or so ladies for my future Mother in Law's Bridal Shower.The experience was lovely. We were seated in a lovely courtyard area to the back of the restaurant and the service was prompt and with a smile, even if half of us wanted decaf or herbal teas.There is a choice of tea or coffee and the option of a glass of prosecco for those who fancy it at an additional cost (I'm pregnant so can't review the prosecco!) The selection presented was lovely, three types of finger sandwiches, a huge fruit scone with clotted cream and what appeared to be homemade jam, shortbread, a chocolate mouse, sponge cake etc... It was difficult to finish everything (but we managed!)He one bad point was that there was not enough tea included, and when you ordered more they have you half a pot for another couple of quid. I've been to afternoon teas elsewhere where the tea is unlimited and as it's quite inexpensive to provide tea, I would almost prefer less cake and more tea! Otherwise, the staff were fantastic, the hotel is beautiful and the food is wonderful. I would definitely return.

Wow, what a gem this place is. My partner and myself enjoyed an absolute fabulous meal last night. Staff are very pleasant and helpful, menu choice is amazing and our food was brilliant.
