Carpathia Champagne Bar & Restaurant in Liverpool

Stayed over on boxing night. The cocktails were nice. Food was average. My boyfriends meal arrived when I had nearly finished mine. Service was shocking - had to ask to have our plates removed and waiters must have walked past us 6 times without asking if we needed another drink. Another issue was that we ordered two pornstar martinis before getting the bill. We were not told that there was no Prosecco when ordering and were still charged £7.50 each for the drinks. Expected a lot more due to the reputation the restaurant has. Felt like the staff couldn’t wait to get rid of us!

Mi esposo reservó este restaurante para el almuerzo durante una visita sorpresa a Liverpool. Personal muy amable, con ganas de agradar. Solo menú disponible a la hora del almuerzo (opción limitada) pero buena relación calidad-precio. Buenos menús de bebidas, a un precio muy razonable. Es una pena no poder ir a la terraza de la azotea en un hermoso día soleado, pero se explicó que el área exterior necesitaba un poco de trabajo para que fuera segura antes de abrir en la primavera. No me apresuraría a volver pero un almuerzo agradable (advertencia, los baños son compartidos y no son agradables, ¡baja las escaleras!)

Lovely place, very sophisticated, great ambiance and history. Visited on a Friday evening, Al a carte menu which although limited was a nice choice. Singer on too giving a nice relaxing evening

Brought my wife for a meal on valentines and it was out of this world good I had the faggots which were to die for the little clear sauce bit really was amazing my wife had the scallops which she loved that much she wouldn’t share for mains we both had the pork which again was amazing very tender and not to fatty for dessert she had the French toast and I had the cheese board they took a while to come but just have us time to get another drink and listen to the singer. A perfect night

We have stayed in the past and enjoyed our stay, however this time we came for the special valentine's menu. It was terrible. The staff were helpful and friendly and couldn't be faulted but the food was terrible. The portion sizes weren't consistent with my starter (the best thing I ate) being small and the cheese board being enough for 6 people (lack of biscuits though). The rest was inedible, especially the chips! It ruined our valentine's day and we both left feeling hungry and disappointed. I could make better at home, dont waste your money.

Visited here with my girlfriend for lunchtime. The staff here are wonderful and seem to go above and beyond to make you feel as welcome as possible. Our server was a gent called Dave and he was truly amazing. We chose the afternoon tea and was not disappointed. What a wonderful experience will definitely visit again next time I’m in the city.

Visited the restaurant for afternoon tea on 15th feb. The food was gorgeous! The scones especially with fresh clotted cream. Nothing was too much for the team working here, Dave serving us was amazing. his customer service skills were second to none. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!

Treated my girlfriend to the £89 per couple valentines night at the Carpathia Restaurant, 30 James Street! The restaurant decor was nice, however the live entertainment; guy singing acoustic guitar could barely be heard and it sounded like he was just humming all night! He also didn’t know any James Arthur, Lewis Capaldi or James Blunt songs? This guy was disappointing and then the staff told me there was no further entertainment on after 9pm, despite the hotel advertising live music until 1pm - clearly a case of false advertising! The free glass of Prosecco was provided upon arrival, however, I had to ask for the free chocolates which then come during the starter? This was more like a desert with a blob of cream and strawberry’s coated in chocolate! The food was poor with the main course (steak) being undercooked! I asked for medium cooked steak but was presented with a very rare looking steak. I sent it back to the kitchen but they obviously only had a ‘cook’ and not a ‘chef’ working as the steak reappeared very burnt and still very red in the middle (see photographs)! We decided to pass on the desert due to my girlfriend feeling put off by the undercook jelly-like steak! Overall, this experience was very overrated, very over priced and very disappointing! Will not be re-visiting this venue and would not recommend!

Bar looks run down, very expensive, rudimentary bar furniture, little atmosphere and lighting is extremely poor. Very disappointed.

We had a very enjoyable lunch with stunning views over the city at the Carpathia. The food was delcious and the service from Wendy was excellent, she was very friendly and you could tell she loved her work and cared that we were having a good time.

The views from the rooftop bar were spectacular and the staff were friendly and fantastically accommodating, especially our waiter Anthony, who served us high tea, and a young lady at the bar who chilled our champagne to the perfect temperature.

Had dinner here but underwhelming. Looking at the reviews and website thought it would be a change to sit amongst some maritime bits and pieces, however the quality of food let the place down.

First time here Saturday afternoon. My friend and I called in for a cocktail. The bar area is decidedly underwhelming and just felt lacking in its finish. Just a few seats and hardly makes the most of the view. We asked at the bar if we could order a cocktail that wasn’t on the rather limited menu and given a flat out ‘No’ which rather surprised and disappointed us.

Wedding Anniversary Dinner with fantastic food and excellent service ; Andy the maitre d’ was so lovely, letting us on the closed terrace for some photos too. Kind to the kids as well with ‘tester’ mocktails that the 8yr old thought had nettles in (was mint ) Great history of the building and good views across Liverpool and to the Wirral. Definitely recommend for somewhere a bit special and different.

Stayed at the hotel and so got a 50% off deal for food and drinks. There was little choice as the main menu not on. We nearly left but decided to stay as we were starving. Well I’m glad we did, the food was delicious! Really really good. The girls who work there are lovely too. I have a lot of allergies and they were very good. Would recommend and go back if there was a deal. A bit pricey otherwise.

Food in the restaurant was fabulous served by lovely Olivia who was knowledgeable about the wine and the food. We then went into the bar and Kelsey served us fantastic cocktails. You will see us again.

Lovely Resturant for Christmas Day. Lovely set 5 course meal and lovely staff couldn’t fault it. Great views of the city too. Highly Recommend it

Table for 9, Christmas Party booking, food pre-ordered several weeks in advance, advised the day before the event that the food we'd ordered wouldn't be available because the Christmas menu was now in place. Turned out the food order had been accepted but should not have been, of course it wasn't the restaurant to blame! Then despite the corrections having been made, two of the dishes were unavailable?

Diner with a party of 18 for a family catch up, food and service Both amazing! Olivia looked after us and made sure everything went perfectly, she also helped arrange birthday plates for a belated birthday surprise! Food was amazing as always, the whole family raved about the beef and Eton mess!

We visited Carpathia with some friends a few days ago. What’s should have been a special evening was spoilt by clumsy service and average food . The staff were very friendly but kept making mistakes . Incorrect starters meaning we are our starters at different time . wrong potatoes , Tough beef - the list goes on .

Menu offered lots of variety, food was delicious, exceptional staff made the visit stand out. Great atmosphere.

Me and my friends try to catch up at least once ever two months. This time for our Christmas catch up we came to Carpathia, what an amazing night we had. As we had called up in advance and told the staff it was our Christmas catch up they made us feel extra special as they put us in there stunning private dining room with amazing views of Liverpool docks, name cards and an amazing surprise to finish our meal. We came into Carpathia for Lunch before shopping in Liverpool and I have to say it was gorgeous. We both had the burger and ordered a side of halloumi fries. Dave was our server and we couldn’t ask for better service. We both had the white chocolate orange martinis too which was recommended by the barman and we were not disappointed. Definitely going to come again.

My friends and I had a bad experience at this place. Second time at Carpathia and definitely the last. In my first visit I was not impressed with the food. Second visit and the food was from average to bad and the service was poor. We had to rush to order and eat despite having to return one of the dishes to the kitchen. Our hope to have a few drinks was spoiled by how quickly we had to vacate the table although there were several empty tables at the restaurant. Our evening certainly was not what we expected, real shame.

Beautiful place but the worse service I’ve ever had. Booked the table for 18:30 for 4 people. 2 of us arrived on time and other 2 was running 15 minutes late. We been told on our arrival that we only had 1:45 on the table as they were “ busy”. As soon we sat down ordered drink and still waiting for the other 2 friends. The waitress came to our table every 2 minutes asking if we were ready to order the food and we kept repeating that we were still waiting for the other 2 friends, then she kept coming back every few minutes asking the same thing. It is was very unpleasant as we were feeling under the pressure. Food was very average and my friends rib-eye was the same as weatherspoons, she said, dry , over done. Our meal was ok but nothing special.

Evening meal in the restaurant while staying at 30 James Street. Everything we ordered was lovely as was the wines we chose. Not expensive and would eat here again even without staying in the hotel. Views of the city were lovely too.

Went for a meal last night.service was excellent.my wife and I both had cocktails,and a delicious 3 course meal.can highly recommend and we will be back.

the food and service was much below the level you would expect from a hotel like this. Our server was lovely and i can't fault her but she was clearly working alot of tables on her own. Sandwiches were dry like they had been left out a while

We were three ex-uni friends celebrating our 60th birthdays! The atmosphere was relaxed and our waitress, Chloe, was very friendly and helpful. The food was ALL delicious...we had a fabulous evening! Thank you

We went with a group of friends for my birthday and had a really good experience. The table service was second to none and we were made to feel special. The food was really good, so I'd definitely recommend Carpathia.

Staff were attentive though I was wrongly changed when buying a drink, that was resolved. I was disappointed in the music, the singer was good but we specifically wanted this event for the swing music and it was very mixed genres of music so not what we were expecting, it also got louder as the afternoon went on.

This visit was for a family of five for late Sunday lunch. It was a cold October day and we were looking forward to a top class lunch, in warm and unusual surroundings. It was unusual but only because we were very cold being served average fayre in what looked like well worn surroundings.The dining area is adjacent to the bar and opens out onto the balcony which provides the excellent view of Liverpool and the Mersey. Ideal for a drink on a summer day. Totally inappropriate for a 3 course meal on an Autumn day. I was not prepared to sit in a cold draft at any of the tables (there were no other diners and i now knew why). I asked to go to small room off the main one but was refused as it was set for breakfast. We were reluctantly allowed in after I said I would not stay otherwise.

We sat in the bar, taking in the view of the Albert Dock as the sun went down. The food was lovely with a great variety at breakfast and service was very good.

A relative bought a voucher for afternoon tea at any of the parent company's hotels, so we chose this one on the basis of the Carpathia for its decor and views for my birthday. Booked ahead. When we got there we were told the Carpathia was closed for refurbishment and we'd have to have the afternoon tea in the lounge, which was full of people arriving at - and leaving - the hotel with all their luggage. A couple of members of staff were working on laptops and some music was being played on a small ghetto blaster. The tea was OK but very expensive for what it is. When I complained by email that I didn't think this was the experience promised and wasn't told we wouldn't be able to use the Carpathia when we booked they were apologetic and offered a 50% refund. Nothing arrived and for several weeks I kept asking and they kept promising they'd send it. This went on for about three months until they eventually went quiet. Seems their modus operandi for complaints is to string you along in the hope you'll eventually go away.

Had my friends baby shower here last week, Keeva made the booking process from start to finish a dream, I had the poor girl up the wall on the phone every other day emails back and fourth constantly but nothing was to much to for her and she was so understanding with all of my requests

Well we decided last minute to go to Liverpool. Everyplace I wanted to have dinner at was booked. But not here..should have been a clue. But goggle reviews looked great.

Booked by my girlfriend for our anniversary meal. We were served by Olivia who was fantastic. The food was amazing and included vegetarian options. Olivia made us feel really welcome and even brought us out some chocolate brownies at the end of the meal to celebrate our anniversary. Would definitely come back if in Liverpool again.

I’d suggested to 6 of my friends from across Cheshire and Manchester, that Carpathia would be a good meeting point before dinner in Liverpool. This was based on my previous experiences of the place.

Had a lovely meal today with my partner.. Daisy was well presented, polite and extremely helpful in the menu and. Much appreciated to the hospitality brought by our waitress daisy... highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back very soon!!!

We were staying at the hotel but was unable to eat there on our first night as full. Made reservation for second night and enjoyed our meal. We chose off the table d'hote menu which is good value for the quality of food served. Vegetables well cooked and portions not large but very tasty. Staff very helpful and friendly. One little niggle; the door to the outside balcony was constantly being left open by inconsiderate diners. We had asked to move away as I knew I would feel cold and even where we were sitting was aware of the draught . Felt sorry for diners next to door.

I originally booked a table at the Bastian Restaurant part of The Shankly hotel which we were staying in, but after being recommended to eat at the Carpathea the hotel staff kindly moved the reservation and also informed them I was proposing. Once arrived the staff were amazing, our waitress was professional, kept checking if we were okay for drinks. Once we finished our main course the waitress kindly brought over two glasses of processco and a plate with the words "Will you marry me".

So for a birthday present for my partner, I thought it be nice to have the an overnight stay at the hotel, we stayed here meany of times. This experience we had left us shocked and embarrassed, we had eaten at the hotel restaurant were there was 3 waiters on, Alisha was ours and was lovely, we ordered our food and drink (bottle of Prosecco) which we had to ask for when our meal came. This was just a minor error, after food my partner went out for s cigarette, there was a notice saying please close the door behind you, on which she did. Then the lady with blond hair went storming over from across the room and went to push the doors open, she then went back to the cutlery areas and said something to to this younger girl and the body language that I could see looked like she was flipping out, next minute both of storm over and punched the doors open, the way they spoken and how abrupt they were telling my partner to get in was out of order, there is away of Explaining If somewhere was out of bounds but no! These to people maid seen and left my partner embarrassed when waking back into the restaurant! Everyone was looking! We mentioned it to our waitress who was going to speak to the manager, but no one came to us. I checked out the next day and asked for a form so I can complain and the girl behind the counter said sure, as I leaned slightly over thinking she was in the computer, the girl seemed to be texting on her phone, no eye contact or even ask if I enjoyed my stay, I felt upset about our whole experience here and it didn’t feel special in any way, I rang up yesterday to ask yo speak to a manager and a lady rang me back, she A’s duty manager, I explained ever think to her she wasn’t helpful, all she could say was she heard something about that in a breakfast briefing they had and I’ll and she will contact manager, I’m now waiting on another manager to ring me. How meany do I have to speak to? I’m very upset and so is my partner and we left embarrassed, shocked and very very disappointed, ruined our whole experience:-(

We were really looking forward to visiting Carpathia for cocktails after been recommended by a friend and we couldn’t have been more disappointed. On arrival we were told we could sit by the tiny bar area or on the terrace. We chose the terrace and asked for the cocktail menu. The bar tender seemed put out that we had asked for the menu which didn’t give a very good first impression. We ordered our drinks and went to the terrace door. The door was locked and we had to ask a waitress to access the terrace. Once outside we sat down and put our glasses on the table. It was very windy and a big gust of wind came and blew over my drink straight away which was witnessed by Ross. He said he would get me another one and we moved to the bar area to avoid this happening again. After waiting for several minutes no one came to replace my drink so I went up to the bar to be told that if I wanted another drink that I would have to pay for it. I explained the situation and Ross came over and made a replacement cocktail. It was not made properly and was not shaken as the previous cocktail and had a vast amount of bitter lemon in which tasted awful and nearly un drinkable. Ross was very argumentative when replacing my drink saying that he was doing me a favour and that he didn’t have to replace my drink and that none of my friends were complaining. He seemed to like to argue. I said several times that I didn’t want to argue with him but he just kept going on and on. I feel that the terrace should not have been open or suitable glasses should be given which do not easily blow over. It would have been fine had Ross just replaced the drink as promised however the customer service we received was shocking. We left the bar very disappointed and ventured onto Jenny’s bar, the staff there were excellent and the customer service was exceptional. I would avoid Carpathia and try many of the other nicer bars with better customer service levels. I have never had such a terrible customer service experience as this.

Fantastic building and venue located in city centre and a terrace to see the view of Liverpool. Expectations perhaps too high ....

I’ll start this by saying I really don’t like leaving bad reviews - this is the lowest I’ve left to date but can’t bring myself to go with a higher rating. There are a lot of 5-star reviews on this so maybe we just had a bad day, but I don’t think the issues we had can be a one-off. We also had evening meal and breakfast.

Family occasion and we had a private room with great service.

Todo fue excelente y Jess nuestra camarera fue encantadora y muy servicial y atento. La comida era extremadamente deliciosa y decidimos terminar nuestras bebidas en la terraza de la azotea, que era encantadora, con una vista impresionante de los muelles iluminados por la noche. ¡Definitivamente regresaríamos y lo recomendaríamos al 100%! !

Tomamos cafés por la tarde, G & T's a altas horas de la noche y desayuno, todo en los magníficos alrededores en la parte superior del edificio Albion, ahora conocido como 30 James Street. Para los más resistentes, el desayuno en el balcón es una maravilla con vistas al Albert Dock, inmejorable.

We visited 30 James Street for a quick drink in their rooftop bar whilst we were on a weekend in Liverpool. The decor in there is gorgeous - the terrace was great (mainly because the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day). We ordered cocktails - 3 espresso martinis and a salted caramel one - then decided to have something to eat. We had a selection from the light-bites menu and the starters menu which we shared between four of us. The salt and pepper sausage roll and crackling was fabulous - absolutely gorgeous - I would go back to Liverpool just for that! We also had the cheese selection, some fries and the crab cakes - all delicious. Our day was made by the absolutely top notch service from our waiter Rob - nothing was too much trouble - he bought our food quickly and chatted with us for a little bit - keep him 30 James Street as he's a real asset to you!

Visitamos la semana pasada, mi madre planeó una noche para mí y vinimos a cenar a Carpatia y fue recibida por una encantadora camarera terrianne, estaba muy burbujeante y atenta, realmente no podía hacer lo suficiente por nosotros, realmente disfrutamos de noche. Definitivamente volveremos!

Amazing service, Jess was brilliant and catered for all our needs, nothing was too much trouble, we even got an extra piece of cake as it was our birthday! Thank you!!! Also Jess makes a great cappuccino!!!!

We had gorgeous dinner in the restaurant on our date night. Food was unreal and and our waitress Terri-Ann was great. She made us feel very welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. Very friendly and chatty. :) we will definitely be returning.

Fantastic venue. Superb service & friendly staff. Beautiful day & managed to get a table on the roof terrace. Amazing cocktails & delicious food. Robert looked after us well, friendly & accommodating. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Lovely comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, made special by the history present in the room. Prices, as you would expect from a hotel but worthwhile for the experience

Had a wonderful Afternoon Tea here on Wednesday the service was superb our waiter Rob was wonderful kept checking we were OK had enough tea/coffee etc very polite and chatty person he is a credit to you - the food was amazing and plentiful so much so we ended up with a 'goodie bag' to take away what we could not eat. Would recommend anyone visiting our great City to avail themselves to this Restaurant. Just to add the views of the waterfront are amazing. We will be back

I visited the Carpathia with 3 friends for my 30th birthday. We sat out on the rooftop overlooking the beautiful views and drank Prosecco before our meal. Such beautiful settings! Everything from start to finish was perfect. We were greeted on arrival by our waitress Terianne who couldn’t do enough for us. So friendly and accommodating. Our food arrived quickly and glasses were never left to go empty. We all had different dishes and we all very pleased. Food and service was outstanding. Safe to say we will be returning!

Deliziosa lacation, soprattutto se cenerete nella sala privata in fondo al locale. Vi sembrerà veramente di essere su un transatrantico nella belle époque.

Popped in for cocktails and had the nicest Strawberry Daiquiri I’ve ever tasted and so decided to stay for food. Food was beautiful and the whole night was topped off by the amazing staff who looked after me and made me feel so welcome, thanks to Dave & Jess. Will definitely be back.

Popped in for cocktails and then ordered food because of how lovely the staff were, in particular Dave and then Jess. The whole night was fantastic but the staff were always there to look after everyone. Beautiful atmosphere, will come again for sure.

Recientemente visité este hotel para pasar un momento agradable con mi hija. Excelente ubicación y me encantó el tema titánico, pero el hotel necesita algo de TCL ya que está muy cansado. La habitación en la que nos alojamos no era buena. Necesitaba una nueva decoración, la alfombra necesitaba una limpieza y se reemplazaban los muebles a juego. El baño tenía moho creciendo alrededor de la ducha, lo cual no es sorprendente, ya que cada vez que te duchabas el piso estaba nadando en agua que tuvimos que limpiar con toallas. La habitación en sí estaba muy caliente y no pudimos cambiar la temperatura en el aire acondicionado. Pedimos que se abrieran las ventanas, pero la recepción nos dijo que, como era un edificio protegido, ¿no podían abrirlas? Lo pasamos de maravilla en Liverpool pero el hotel fue muy decepcionante.

Fantastic views...but appalling service.No indication that we needed to go to the bar as many serving staff hanging around.When finally ordered took ages to come to table.Cocktails not stirred properly...when asked for a straw or spoon waiter tutted and didn't return....had to get own spoon.Would have stayed for more cocktails in the sunshine but decided we, like the staff,couldn't be bothered.

We visited the rooftop bar for cocktails and then a spot of lunch. Great menu, good selection for vegetarians which was pleasing. Sea Bream with Hasselback Potatoes, superb. Special mention to our waiter Robert who apparently was relatively new, but with such fantastic customer service will go far. Jess also was so helpful, watched them both attend to other diners with such friendliness, they couldn't do more to help. A credit to The Carpathia which incidentally I heartily recommend.

We visited the restaurant for our wedding anniversary as we were also staying at the hotel. We wanted to have drinks in the bar prior to eating but it only has 4 tables. The roof terrace wasn't open although I'm not sure why, the weather was nice. Everything was sticky. We had to get up and get menus ourselves as the bar staff were chatting to the waitresses. The menus were soggy.

We were staying at the hotel so taking our glass of champagne to the 7th floor was hardly a chore! It was glorious sitting on the terrace and the meal in the restaurant didn’t disappoint. It was actually perfect. Service here is friendly and efficient. Can’t recommend more highly.

We came here yesterday lunch time for a few drinks and we were not disappointed! The staff are all so lovely and the man behind the bar could not do enough for us. (the salted caramel flip was yum!) we did not eat on this occasion however seeing the standard of food come out to other tables we will definitely be back soon to try!

We came for a few drinks on the rooftop bar and we will absolutely be back! Jonny working on the bar was brilliant at recommending which cocktails we should try. The salt and pepper sausage rolls were delicious and the views are beautiful. We highly recommend this restaurant and bar. Cannot wait to return ! Great atmosphere and great staff.

I was having a catch up with some friends while on holiday from Sydney. Jessica and Molly made our evening, nothing was too much for trouble for them. The attention they paid us to ensure we had the best night was above and beyond. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere made me remember why I love Liverpool so much. Great catch up, great company, great place to be !

I visited this restaurant last Saturday night and had a terrible experience. Our table was booked for 7pm. When we arrived they told us there would be a delay so gave us a free bottle of prosecco. We were seated after around 25 minutes. There were 8 of us in total so we had preordered our meals. By 8pm we had still not received our meals so they offered us another free bottle. Our food finally arrived shortly after 8pm. 6 of us had ordered the chicken Kiev. After cutting into it I saw that it was not coked through, and the inside of the kiev was completely raw. My friends cut into theirs and 5/6 of the Kiev’s were not cooked through. The response from the waitress was “would you like me to take it back to the chicken?”. A vey blasé response considering the severity of what has just happened. We asked to speak to the manger and after about 5-10 minutes she finally came over and apologised. By this point it was too late as no amount of apologising can make up for being served raw chicken. We did not want to eat anything from this restaurant and wanted to leave as soon as we could. The manager made an attempt to get us a table at one of their sister restaurants, however we declined the offer, not wanting to risk another terrible experience. We were left looking for a restaurant to seat 8 of us at 8-30pm on a busy Saturday night in Liverpool. Thankfully one restaurant did have space. We will never be returning to this restaurant. Once I got home I checked the rating of this restaurant on the food standards agency website, and was disgusted (although not surprised) to see the restaurant has a rating of 2/5!! We’d have been better off eating at McDonald’s. This restaurant needs closing down.

What a lovely place to eat the waiter Jessica was lovely made us feel so welcome an really helpful lovely girl. Molly the manger is lovely aswel such lovely staff very friendly. Will definitely be coming back again the food was amazing cant wait for are next visit x

We came for a spa night with our friend who was home from Australia. Jessica was our waitress and she made us feel so welcome and at ease. She was very accommodating and helpful. Molly was the manager on shift and was so friendly and supportive of her staff. Definitely recommend the crab fritter for starter. Staff here are absolutely lovely, so friendly and the food it delicious.

I thought I was just going for a nice dinner, little did I know my girlfriend had organised a secret late graduation party for me and the restaurant were in on it. As we entered the reception my robes were presented to me by our waiter joe and I was encouraged to dress for pictures with family who were waiting out on the balcony which had been closed especially for me. Our starters arrived, I had the beef tartare which no longer comes with pickled mushrooms but to be honest I found them overpowering last time so enjoyed the change. My partner had the soup of the day (pea and mint) and said it was creamy and delicious while my parents both had beef carpaccio with celeriac remulade which looked astounding. Main was slow cooked pork belly with black pudding beignet and the smoothest mashed potato, another pork belly with an apple beignet, the best looking chicken kievs filled to the brim with garlic butter, and a red mullet cooked to perfection. We were presented with a tree of prosecco based cocktails and a bottle of champagne! Finally a special Easter platter with "congratulations" written in white chocolate across the plate.

Lovely experience at Carpathia Rooftop Bar & Restaurant. Lovely food, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

A group of us girls are very much looking forward to visiting the city and tried to book a table here. It was not a good experience and we ended up booking another restaurant. My friend left a review to this effect and has been contacted by the restaurant offering us a free cocktail if we take the review down. We have declined as this helps no one. However, if your principles are as fluid as Carpathia's you could always leave a low rating in the hopes you could exchange it for a free drink :-)

My boyfriends 30th birthday was made really special by the staff at Carpathia and James St. We had a meal in Carpathia which was amazing, the food and drinks were lovely. The staff were so helpful and gave us advice on the best dishes. The duck was gorgeous and went really well with the red wine. The guy singing old classics was great and all my family and friends had such a good night. We also stayed in the hotel and was greeted with a bottle of Prosecco in our room to make my boyfriends birthday extra special. Thank you!!

Visited for an afternoon tea with the girls and it was fabulous. The food was perfect and the staff were so friendly. Even asked us if we needed anymore cakes but we were all stuffed. The atmosphere was great, had music on but not too loud so that you couldn’t chat.

There was 7 of us for afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon. The staff were very attentive from the minute we walked in. The food was really good and I would highly recommend the afternoon tea (with prosecco :) , the cakes were amazing and there was plenty of food. The staff brought my pregnant friend a couple of cocktails so she wasn't feeling left out and also catered very nicely for a couple of us who are vegetarians. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and I could not fault the experience.

30 James Street offers without doubt the Best Full English Breakfast that I have experienced in an hotel in Britain in all my 70 years. It is self service from a well provisioned hot buffet counter, which includes crispy bacon rashers, great pork sausages, FANTASTIC black pudding and, the chef's piece de resistance, lashings of unctuously creamy scrambled eggs, as well as baked beans, mushrooms and anything else you might desire to create your own personal version of the PERFECT Full English Breakfast.

Lovely afternoon tea, delicious selection of cakes and sandwiches. staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcome.

We visited here yesterday and unfortunately the website is not advertising the roof top terrace correctly as it is nothing like what is shown online. If it is under construction they should state this and then people are not disappointed on arrival. The restaurant is missing something the staff are not on the ball. We order our meal but were not told that you have to order vegetables separately. The meal was not fulfilling at all. We ordered desert before a couple order their main and they received their main meal first and we had to ask for our desert 3 times before it arrived. It is a shame they haven't got this venue right and for that reason we would not return. There are better places to go in Liverpool and sadly the Carpathia is not one of them.

The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and on that basis it is a 5 however it loses points for a few reasons.

Having booked a table of 12 for a graduation meal the service was nothing but poor. From eventually getting through to the restaurant on the phone to book the table I was not made aware of any graduation packages such a meal, balloons, cocktail tree etc was just asked if I wanted to order from the a lá carte or the grad set menu. The restaurant then wanted to know what everyone was having, which would have been fine had they bothered to actually send the menu when asked for it, noticed that there wasn't a delay in taking my £130 deposit though. Through social media I was then made aware a few weeks later of special graduation packages they were doing but only if all 12 of us ordered from the set menu, after requesting could we receive any of these package benefits we got told yes for an extra tenner we could have balloons and a cocktail for the graduate (WHICH was being advertised anyway for just booking a graduation meal there) so basically a tenner for two sets of pathetic looking balloons. On arrival there, the dining area itself was very nice, with being such a large group we were in a little room of our own which was nice. The food was nice but again no reason asking us weeks in advance what we wanted to then take our order again and provide the options to change it? very pointless. The service from the staff was average if I'm honest, except of that of a young blonde girl, forgive me for not noting her name who helped clear the table between courses etc. Was very expensive for what it was, definitely won't be back. Had another graduation later in the same week and the quality received at Georges Great British Kitchen just around the corner was impeccable right from the service to the food.

Amazing! The staff treated us so well. We had a lovely waitress called Alisha who was funny, tentative and so helpful to the demanding hens! She served us with a smile on her face and even joined in with our games. Great food, great service.... a very happy hen party

Never used tripadvisor before but needed to express our evening. we had a Hen party last night and it was one AMAZING night, 18 of us in our own private room with the curtains closed candles lit and the service of Theresa all night. It was honestly a lovely vibe In the carparhia tonight all staying over and have experienced the best service so far. Thanks for looking after all night we had her up the wall but nothing was too much for Teresa.

Just a lovely lovely night. Visited this place for the first time this evening after reading reviews. What a restaurant, tonight was a special Annual meal out with my daughter my my mum and my sister and we had one incredible night. Major credit to the girl power tonight in the carptathia. We were served by the Beauriful mangeress Molly, who can I say is a credit to the Hotel. She made our experience incredible thank you so much for you're genuinely beautiful ways tonight you really made our night so special, I wish you all the luck Hun. The team bounced off each other and the food was fabulous, hats off to the chef, I had the salt and pepper sausage roll it was to die for. amazing singer, great cocktails great wine, lovely view out on the terrace. Attentive staff, even requested a song on mollys playlist and she played it for us. Highly recommend this place, hoping to try the spa soon! Thanks x

I travelled to Liverpool for my birthday with 12 ladies and thanks to Joe, we spent time on the beautiful rooftop terrace drinking cocktails which has fabulous views and special on a gorgeous sunny evening! It was fabulous !! It's an amazing building..the cocktails were yummy and were even two for £10! O wish O lived closer but I look forward to returning to dine one evening next time I am Liverpool.

Recently came here for a hen do! We had a meal and were served by Alisha and Molly and what can I say they were amazing. From start to finish they really engaged with us, joined in with jokes and really made the night fantastic! Alisha in particular is an absolute credit to the team, she made us laugh from start to finish joined in our games and just made the night an absolute amazing experience. Food and drink were also amazing but even if it wasn’t the service would have made up for it!!
