Cardamons in Havering

I visited the restaurant with my family on a Saturday night, we had an extremely long wait for our food, it seems that deliveries and takeaways take priority over customers inside the restaurant. There is very poor communication from the staff as to how long you should be expected to wait for your food. On a positive note, after a very long wait at least the food was very nice. When our party finished the meal, I went up to pay the bill and the manager thought I was asking for a table and said “ you can’t just walk in here like you are the king and expect to get a table”, I explained to him that I do not need a table, I am simply trying to pay my bill. Obviously this was a misunderstanding, but it was pretty unacceptable to be spoken to like that.

Managed to get in for a last minute booking on Saturday evening, the service was excellent as usual, and we went for a Lamb Madras, Chicken Tikka Pathia and a Chicken Tikka Masala. All were exactly how we expected them to come. Hot and fresh, along with some nice creamy Sag Paneer and a Chilli and Cheese Nann, that was very hot and light. We've been coming here for over 15 years and you know what you are going to get, good service, a tasty meal and you wont be ripped off on the price, some other local Indians have put their prices up a lot, this is only slightly higher but still large portions.

Food was lovely. Nothing to complain about. Service amazing also. Would recommend to everyone!!! We will definitely come back soon.

Delicious food I'm going always. Specially we have our dinner here in Cardamons. One of best Indian restaurants in Hornchurch.

After ordering from here over the past 6 months for delivery,I have always enjoyed the food,although sometimes found the phone manner wasn’t always the best. However last night my food turned up and when I opened my rice there was a dead spider on the inside of the rice lid. Made me feel quite sick and put me off Indian for life if I’m honest. Called the restaurant who wasn’t really apologetic and said the manager was personally going to bring me a refund the next day. Didn’t hear anything by the next evening so called them back. Again no real apology and the driver turned up about an hour later with a refund. That’s it,no bottle of wine or even a bottle of beer to say sorry! Terrible way to run a business!

The service all night was a disgrace, the manager was a rood horrible person, food overpriced considering how bad it was, will never come back

Popped in unplanned and was able to get a table; the restaurant soon filled up as it was part of the eat out to help out campaign. Lovely atmosphere, efficient staff, polite and masked. Food wonderful and service brilliant. Lovely that it’s on our doorstep.

As I mentioned in a previous review, we used to visit this restaurant occasionally and have only recently been ordering deliveries. We've had about 4 or 5 deliveries to date. Every single time, the food has been outstanding, every dish has been delicious. The starter prawn purée is absolutely lovely so I have to order that every time. Last night, we tried a new dish - King Prawn Jalfrezi. We would highly recommend this as well. The delivery service is excellent, food comes nicely packaged. Well done to all staff involved. Keep up the good work that you do.

We have visited this restaurant a number of times and have never been disappointed . Tonight , for the very first time , we ordered a delivery . Oh my goodness , everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic . Well done to you all . We can’t wait to order from your restaurant again .

Been coming here for years and years and can truthfully say the food has always been great. The taste is always consistent and deliveries are always hot! Stuffed mushrooms are really lovely and so is the masala!

Great evening, set menu had something for everyone, food was excellent and i would recommend it to all my friends and family

Service was for our take away was pretty good as expected. The nans breads were undercooked and still doughy, and the butter chicken we ordered on the phone was something completely differenent However they did try to put this right so credit where credits due.

We have been going to this indian for years now, it really is the best in the area, we have tried other Indians but always come back to this. The special chicken or special duck is delicious, the sauce tastes beautiful. The food can be slow at coming out to the table but it is worth the wait😊

Arrived at 8:15 after we made a booking the night previous. Still had to wait for a table. Waited till 9:55 for food before leaving as no updates as to how long our meals were going to be. Will NOT be returning.

Since our favourite Indian restaurant Bhangra Beat stupidly turned into a burger bar we have been searching high and low for a new regular place to settle with but nothing came close, until now. Based on a friends recommendation we gave it a try and we were really impressed, the food was delicious, the portion size was pretty good and the price was great. We live in Dagenham so we wasn't sure if they deliver to us but after a friendly chat with who I assume was the Manager, he said he can so this was music to our ears. We only tried the takeaway but the restaurant looked lovely so we will definately be trying that out too.

I have eaten at Cardamons for 17 years. I always eat early to avoid any rush. In 17 years the service has been superb and the food has been amazing. I usually order a Chicken Tikka Massala but at a Madras heat. (Highly recommend). The chef never fails to provide a superb curry of exceptional quality. I cannot recommend this curry house strongly enough!!!

There was six of us , this was our first visit but two of our friends recommended it . The restaurant is bigger than it looks from the outside . , good ambiance and decor. A warm welcome on entering the restaurant. They were extremely busy but the service was good . The meal was very tasty hot and very enjoyable. Will return and recommend. Parking is s issue though .

We come here quite often and again this was a lovely tasting curry. Can not recommend the Chicken Tikka Pathia more, but the other curries we had, the duck shashlik and meat madras was also tasty.

Totally empty on a Thursday night at 8pm...A bad sign or a sign of it being January?

Is this the best? Well that us down to personal preferences. However I have been here countless times for both eat in and takeaway. The food is good and reliable but just rarely the service is patchy when the restaurant is full.

Late decision to grab a curry, ordered and paid and then waited and waited, after 40 minutes chased up the order to be told - im not your waiter - so I went into the kitchen to inquire - absolute madness was told its coming - one minute - actually turned up 5 minutes later - when we got the food home - wrong rice orders and luke warm. What was interesting is that other waiting customers were offered small beers ( i didn't want one but the offer would have been nice) . However overwhelming was the very rude waiter that repeated " i dont look after you Im not your waiter" very well done - thats going to make me want to return isnt it ? his reply well thats your choice ......We dont need you.

Ordered a takeaway Saturday night was told 40 minutes. On arrival I should have realised there would be a problem as there were several people awaiting takeaways who had been there for a while. In addition a family who were dining in asked for their dinner to be a takeaway as they had been waiting ages. All those waiting for takeaways were told 40 mins and all waited over an hour. Appalling service. Food was, on late arrival, really nice but portions are very small. Usually have enough for leftovers but not at cardamom. Will take a lot for me to return.

People do not visit this place. Food ok but the so called manager an absolute waste of space. In this day n age when restaurants are struggling the last thing you need is a manager with no personality. This has that. Makes situations awkward for no reason. Knob. I visit quite a lot of restaurants in Hornchurch I will never step over this ones step again until they get rid of this idiot. Harsh but trueful

Was having a great night at this restaurant until graham norton come in with some very drunk friends one of them was a Swedish man who kept shouting out shilpa shetty, I will never watch another show of graham norton again!

Quick bit of grub before a night out. Decent lamb dhansak. Consistently good and a great service as always

Love this place don’t go as often as we used to as we have moved away but if in area we pop in or order a takeaway. I think it’s the best tikka and the best take dhal. Love the refurb. Friendly staff

Visited as a group of 12 people for a pre Christmas meal.

I thought we had booked a Monday evening just for our fundraiser but soon realised that other people had booked tables. It was for a political event and it seemed the other customers did not support the our night out. All through the speakers, we had a small group of customers making a lot of noise, laughing at what they were saying and then adding a lot of noise scraping their plates and talking. I think the restaurant should have either either said that at 9pm the restaurant will take the table back or they told us that it wasn't exclusive.

Cardamons is a firm favourite with our friends and family. The food is excellent! It is popular so it does get busy at the weekend. Occassionally there can be a 5 -10 minute wait for a table or to collect a takeaway but that doesn't bother me.

I visit curry houses like Judith Charmers visits Airports. I have been going to Cardomons for over 15 years and can honestly say the food is amazing. The special duck or chicken is a must try. If you like it spicy just asked for it to be made hot. Have not found a better curry house for the money and I have visited quite a few.

Cardamomo es muy cerca de mi casa, pero yo nunca había estado, siguiendo la recomendación de 13 de nosotros presentamos un lunes por la noche. Aunque no esperábamos la cantidad de gente que lo amazingly​. La comida llegaba bastante rápido todo caliente y todos juntos aunque el personal mínimo claramente estaban en, la comida era genial y recomiendo encarecidamente este indio, los precios eran bastante similares a la mayoría, pero la comida era estupenda. Y como un extra que todos tenemos un brandy o Bailey's complementarios que siempre es un bonito detalle.

Visitamos aquí dos veces en el último mes y ambas experiencias han sido excelentes, desde el menú de la comida y el servicio. Que diners y salir y para un buen curry de Brick Lane y por todo Londres y mucho más. Este es un lugar muy agradable. En San Valentín todas las mujeres nos dieron una rosa roja después de la comida no es barato, pero en un regalo plastici fragantes hermoso presentado. Recomiendo

Recientemente nos decidimos a sucursal en nuestra habitual restaurantes de curry en búsqueda del elusivo curry Cardamon fantástico y fue nuestro último puerto de escala.

Usando allí para llevar comida años siempre es muy buena a unos amigos y pensamos comer allí esperamos casi 2 horas para platos principales vienen insistiendo que quedaba y me dijeron 5 minutos 5 minutos, así que nos levantamos para salir y nuestra comida llegó. Yo estaba realmente anoyed era el hecho de que iban a tomar para llevar cada diez minutos y estamos pagando el dinero dejaban esperando. Para comer me quedaré con a llevar en el futuro una pena

Visited cardamons for night out with friends good food no rowdie people which makes a change for a curry house at 10.30 on a Friday night will use again

The food in here is by far the best in Hornchurch in our opinion. I avoid Saturdays as its just too busy for me but any other time it has to be applauded

Excellent food and service - we were made very welcome and the complimentary drinks were the icing on the cake!

We ordered a takeaway for 7 people from here after a recommendation and the food was average. The waiter taking the order was probably the rudest I've come across. Was hung up on and cut off every time I tried to speak. Won't be going back.

Great food - highlight was Lamb Naga - with usual great service and fab chat with Head Waiter at end of the night. Good value too!

Visited this restaurant last night...hadn't been before and as it I near to where we live was hoping it would be good! We were welcomed nicely and seated..We ignored the plaster falling off the wall. Drinks came quickly and food was prompt..however my starter plate was taken the moment I put in my last mouthful and even as I was still chewing this the mains cameHusband likes it hot had a vindaloo but was most disappointed and said wasn't even hot enough to be a madras! Food was okay but service appalling particularly when the clock struck 12 and it was obvious they want you out whether you finished or notNo tip was left on this occasion and don't plan on returning.

I have been a valued and regular customer of this restaurant for over 7 years now, their food in my opinion is the best in Hornchurch, i used to take my family and friends there regularly and frequently order takeaways. Over the years I have got to know the staff well and up until last Saturday considered it as my most favourite restaurant. We ordered a takeaway but there was some rice missing, when I called to let them know I expected a speedy resolve, instead I got a rather rude member of staff telling me they will get another rice delivered in 35-40 min! I told him we couldn't eat what we had until we had the rice and we couldn't keep the food warm for that long without spoiling the taste and also the popadoms we had would go stale. I suggested he does a whole new order and we'd wait for it, he was having none of that at first and kept saying there was nothing else he could do as he only had 2 drivers, he suggested I go and pick up the rice but I had had a few beers and couldn't drive. I couldn't believe he could not just drop off another rice straight away, (they are under 1 mile away!!) after arguing for a good 5 minutes he eventually agreed to do a new order but I'd have to wait over an hour! I declined and demanded a refund, he agreed and even sent a driver to collect my order!! And guess what? He turned up within 20 min!! He could have brought the rice!!!! I feel totally let down by a restaurant I have used for years, I am going to write a letter to the manager as I feel so strongly about how I was treated and as it stands I will never set foot or order from this restaurant ever again

The staff are so kind tans there food never disappoints when I went there I had duck and it melted in your mouth as well if you love curries you will love the cardamom

We visit here probably about once a month and have never had a bad meal. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you are going on a Fri/Sat night then is usually best to book as can get very busy. We only started going here a few years ago when another local Indian restaurant we used changed hands and Cardamons was an easy walk for us. So glad we did!

Often been in there and no complaints. Service good, staff friendly, food good. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Good standard Indian cuisine.

The food is very good here and reasonably priced. A meal for two adults and one child came to just over £50.00 with drinks and food. Service is polite and the food was delicious. The matar paneer is very good.

Left a review on here before and I mainly said that the head guy was the one that ruins this place because he is either rude, miserable or most of the time both at once.This time we took out kids 6 and 10 on a Wednesday early evening, the older guy wasn't there and what a difference. The waiters were excellent, almost as if they we more relaxed. They treated my kids perfectly and we all loved the trip. The food was excellent and we will certainly make another family (early evening) trip there again. The younger guy that seems in charge when the older guy isn't there is also very good and has the place well organised. Will come back again.

I have reguarly visited this restaurant for about 2 years now & often used theirtake-away service and can honestly say i have never had a bad experience with them.Their service is very good, the food is always cooked to perfection.There are a lot of very nice indian restaurants in Hornchurch but Cardomans is by far my favourite.If you haven't tried it, please do, you will not be dissapointed!

This place used to be really nice but has become more greasy and saucy as time goes on. Thing that let's this place down is the head waiter. Rude and ruins the whole meal. Once popped in for some nanns and poppadoms to take away and he looked really peed off that I didn't order a curry. Even when he has delivered a take away for us he is rude and takes the money and if you want change you have to ask for it. Once had to call him back to insist on my £4 change because he snatched the money and walked off.

We went to Cardamons on Friday night, we only live around the corner but had never been and hadn't heard any reviews before going. When we got in the restaurant it looked a little shabby, some plaster was falling off the wall and generally looks a little tired.The staff were rather over bearing to be honest, it felt like they were very keen to get rid of us as they were rushing us at every opertunity. We ordered a G&T, but only the tonic arrived so we asked for the gin and they just plonked a glass of gin on the table and rushed off. While we were eating poppadoms they asked if we had finished - we obviously hadn't as we were both still eating them. They then came over 30 seconds later to ask if we'd finished with the chutneys, we still hadn't......The food was ok, fairly standard curry house curry, however both my wife and I woke up feeling like we'd drunk 10 pints (we had two drinks) and had upset stomachs for the while of Saturday. While it wasn't the worst experience we've had out we won't be hurrying back to Cardamons......

This is my local Indian restaurant and apart from being convenient I keep returning as the food is always very good. The prices are no higher than any other local Indian restaurant so you know what you will have to pay. The staff are always very polite and have clear knowledge of the menu. I will keep returning here.
