I went to caravaggio for lunch this afternoon I had a lovely mixed fish skewers with Lobster sauce I highly recommend Caravaggio restaurant in Camberwell Moreover the staff members are lovely, they are so friendly and professional I loved this experience once again in caravaggio, I am coming back very soon. I am adding the dish picture that I had today. Thank to Caravaggio

This was a party of 20 people, and they handled everything perfectly, couldn't fault the food or the service. Everyone was served at the same time, from the full menu to choose from,it just goes to show how professional they are. Thank you to everyone..

This is a lovely restaurant, nice staff, good atmosphere - however the food lets it down. We came on a Friday night and service was quick, my partner order the chicken escalope and I ordered the tagliatelle with mushrooms and truffle oil. The pasta dish was dreadful - the mushrooms were bitter and it wasn’t the truffle oil - it was just a weird mishmash of clashing flavours - not great. My partner was very disappointed with his chicken, and the vegetables were awful. Potatoes refried at least 3 times. Desserts though were absolutely amazing, the cherry cheesecake and the tiramisu. All in all the price wasn’t too bad but we won’t be rushing back.

We were seated in what looked like a shed extension with very uncomfortable seats. We sadly received very poor service with very average food which was such a shame as this restaurant had been recommended. The restaurant has far too many tables for the amount of staff working. A waiter told us “ we have several large parties coming in soon so you will be forgotten about” . We laughed at the time thinking he was joking but he was being completely honest. Food was just thrown down in front of us. Drinks orders were completely forgotten. We all left a lot of our food and took home in takeaway containers but just threw it away in the end. Even asking for the bill was too much so we paid as we left. I know this time of year is very busy and we would have completely understood but there is no need for staff to be rude. We were made to feel very unwelcome. Will not return or recommend

Myself and Three friends were at the Oval where sadly the days play was rained off. So we got a bus to Caravaggio’s in Camberwell.. just 6-7 minutes away. I could believe that they weren’t busier because Caravaggio offers great service, great Italian food and very good value prices in an attractive restaurant. I’ve been there 3 or 4 times now and have never been disappointed …. Only surprised that it isn’t busier. Go there , you won’t be disappointed.

The staff are very friendly and the pasta dishes are lovely but my 2 sons ordered neat dishes that were undercooked, the lamb shank being burnt on the outside. Shame really as it was otherwise a good experience

We visited here for the first time on Saturday for my aunts 70th birthday. It was the best way to celebrate such a special birthday! The staff were extremely accommodating and patient with our large party! One member of staff in particular kept my 3 year son very entertained throughout the evening. He was very funny! The food was 10/10. And the customer toilets were clean and welcoming which is a big thing in my eyes! Great atmosphere throughout. It’s a shame we don’t live locally to this restaurant, we would be regulars if we did!

Romantic evening with my partner. The service was great, the staff are such fun 🤩 The food did not disappoint neither - deep fried Brie with mango was a highlight as was the mushroom and truffle ravioli. 💯 will be back

Lovely Italian restaurant with delicious food. Service could be a abit better, but maybe it was just an off day. Would certainly recommend for the food and will be back!

Went for dinner with a few friends. The staff were very friendly but the food portions were very big. I was so full by the end of it, and I didn't have a starter, only a main course and dessert. The food was lovely though.

This little gem of a restaurant in Camberwell is AMAZING! The staff treat everyone like family, no ask is too big. Incredibly welcoming, honestly have experienced some of the best customer service here. Food is absolutely delicious. Reasonably priced, super clean, great for family and couples alike. I would rate it 10 out of 10 if I could.

Me and friends and family came over after reading so many good reviews about caravaggio restaurant in camberwell we had to come and see for ourselves and I tell you its so amazing that the first bite on penne pancheta it was so nice my mouth got watery I had dig in its was beautiful, 2 of my friends had fruty di mare pasta they had the same reaction was well presented with great taste even my other 3 friends had pizza freshly baked out of the oven its was fantastic 👏 I rate this restaurant 5stars staff are amazing and really give their attention to the customers, thank you so much guys we will be back

Cannot recommend this lovely Italian enough. Excellent quality food, so tasty and very wide choice. Huge portions, great service and brilliant value for money. Delightful meal and will be back again as soon as we can.

Pedí Pizza Calzone, fue absolutamente un desastre, no solo la pizza era una esponja absoluta, sino que los ingredientes que normalmente no formaban parte de un Calzone y no eran frescos. Encontré Chorizzo en eso WTF. . . La ternera milanesa era normal. Acabo de poner dos para el tiramisú que en realidad era bueno pero, sinceramente, hay muchos mejores restaurantes italianos por allí.

Love this place. Amazing Italian cuisine. Fresh pastas, pizza. Delicious seafood, well served meats. Good portions, reasonably priced. The staff are always soo welcoming.

You get in and you suddenly feel like you're in Italy, although the staff is mostly Portuguese. Beautiful mediterranean ambience, amazing pizza and I definitely recommend the Torta de Nana and the Tiramissu. The house wine is divine and you can't really get a 2 course meal for less in London. Beautiful!!

I went to caravaggio with my family, to celebrate my son's birthday.As an Italian family I am glad to say that finally I found Naples in camberwell. We had some seafood as starter, as a main course we had Aberdeen Angus 36 days aged ribeye steak,and my little one had linguine Al Gamberone,and be honest I had a taste of it, I felt like my mum cooked it, uau mammamia.So for desserts we didn't have any, but there was a surprise by the Manager Fernando, he brought a wonderful tiramisu, with candles and singing happy birthday to my son.What can I say? Great night, an amazing service, the staff were wonderful, they were so friendly and I really want to say thank you so much for the wonderful experience and I really highly recommend Caravaggio in Camberwell, and an arrivederci soon.

The laminated menus are slightly off-putting, but fear not, the waiter recites a massive list of additional specials - which it would be better to see on a sheet of paper, otherwise there's just too much to remember. The dishes we had were simple, honest, good quality stuff, and plenty of it. There's a decent selection of wines at prices that are not ridiculously inflated. Service was brisk and efficient. This is not alta cucina, but easy to recommend for a filling meal at a reasonable price.

El entrante de langostinos fue increíble con el vino blanco siciliano recomendado por el camarero chico y para los platos principales el chuletón de 28 días en el hueso definitivamente me alegraron el día ya que la carne era tan tierna y sabrosa. Se lo recomendaría a cualquiera en Londres si desea probar una vieja escuela familiar italiana. ¡Hasta el próximo fin de semana Caravaggio!

Just had a lovely Sunday at this restaurant. Have been before but not on a Sunday. We had the roast lamb which was lovely very well cooked and presented. Service-at this restaurant is very good and friendly. Can thoroughly recommend!

Having travelled for 6 hours without having had breakfast, we were hungry and had a few hours to kill before attending and evening 70th birthday party. Number one on our hotel’s restaurant recommendation was Caravaggio; we were not disappointed!! Met with a warm and friendly greeting we were taken to our table by a most engaging Portuguese gentleman who spoke impeccable english. Offered the regular menu and a most inviting specials list, we felt most at home in the warm, spotlessly clean and well appointed rear dining room. The crab ravioli special starter was delicious as was the wild boar in mushroom cream sauce off the same specials chalkboard; meanwhile the American hot pizza off the regular menu put those offered by high street chain pizza restaurants to shame for flavour, content, and size. The wines menu was comprehensive but not ostentatious, while the deserts were a touch ‘from the freezer’ the homemade creme caramel was both generous and extremely tasty. The £112 bill was most unassuming for a London restaurant; consequently, the hotel’s number one recommendation is absolutely supported and Caravaggio gets a five star rating from me!

I've been coming here regular for 5 years and it always has impeccable food and service. My tip is to get something from the specials board, it's always amazing!

The frst thing you really notice about this place is that the waiters and waitresses are very efficient and knowledgeable. Good advice given and everything served quickly.

My second time visiting this place and it didn’t disappoint. Everything you want in an Italian and at an amazing price. We had 2 mains 2 starters 1 side and bread and olives and 3 drinks + service charge was only £40, you really can’t go wrong.

Delicious pasta with fresh ingredients, reasonably priced. Waiters in white dress shirts with ties and dress pants contribute to a genuine Italian experience. Service errs on the side of being a little too casual perhaps but overall worth a try.

This Italian Restaurant on Camberwell Church Street is a little gem stone. Authentic dishes served by real Italian waiters. Full menu at great prices. Get a real feel for the Italian way of dining in this superb restaurant.

We have been to Caravaggio quite a few times over the last 2 years and each time is as good as the last! The food is always super tasty and really great value for money. The staff are always friendly and more importantly, it’s always busy and it makes a really good atmosphere.

I visited with my Husband, being an inpatient at Kings College up the road I couldn't bare anymore hospital food, and what a lovely meal we had!

I’m going to keep this short and sweet: Lovely Staff Great Value Delicious Fresh Food Brilliant Service I LOVED IT. A week later and my wife and I are still talking about it. We will be back.

We are regulars of Caravaggio because the atmosphere is always warm and lively, the food is lovely and very good value, and the wine is often excellent. Usually go for the daily specials, but the pizzas are also consistently great. Staff are always friendly. Perfect local Italian.

We had to most fantastic evening here for my sisters 30ty Birthday party. The service was fantastic and the waiting staff were expertly attentive.

We had lunch here as a family. The waiters were friendly and welcoming and gave us a good table. The menu was excellent with a massive choice, plus there were many 'specials' to choose from too! The prices were so reasonable, we were amazed! The decor is good and the facilities clean. We all had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting again soon.

Este sitio sigue manteniendo su esencia con los años. Hace 7 que deje de vivir en Londres y casi cada año he vuelto a saludar a camareros y encargado, que hacen que esté pequeño restaurante adquiera su esencia. Repetir siempre. Ahora han añadido las pizzas y he de decir que ya es perfecto tanto para una Carme como para un pescado, una pasta o pizza.

Traditional Italian food, well cooked, friendly service and good prices. Believe it or not you won’t be able to find better Italian restaurant in London! Highly recommended!

Having been for a great birthday meal with family 2 years ago, we decided to take our Grandaughter,10 and her friend,11 for a meal when they came for a sleepover.

It was a very busy saturday evening and staff were under pressure - previously enjoyed more peaceful meal and good food - have to say the starters were fine but I had liver main which was over cooked and the special duck was overwhelmed with a too rich fruit sauce which difficult to finish - my son had chicken milanaise which seemed a better choice - my advice stick to what the Italians do best pasta and pizza

With such a great choice of restaurants in SE5, it took us three years to discover the cheap and cheerful joys of Caravaggio and now we can't stop going back and I've booked a big table for my birthday. A bit of a dullsville exterior leads into a cavernous hall in the back filled with middle aged Italian staff entertaining and serving hearty huge plates. You're not coming here for fine dining, you are coming here for a lovely atmosphere and bargain food that will put a smile on your face. I find it so easy to be disappointed with Italian food in London but not here, they take pride in serving classic Italian dishes for a good price in a really lovely setting. Go down the wine a list a little too, the ones after the 'I think I'll have the second most expensive' get good pretty quick! Veggie options are good, vegan options a little scarce on the ground, just like Italia itself. Don't make the same snobby mistake I made and get yourself a table ASAP.

Como de costumbre, la comida y el servicio fueron excelentes. Mi primer plato calamares estaba cocinado a la perfección. Mi principal halibut también era genial. Todo el mundo en nuestro grupo pensamos que su comida era estupenda, esta crítica va a ser lleno de palabras excelente, magnífico, etc. y todo a precios relativamente baratos, esta tierra es en comparación a la Torre OXO, donde el precio era alto y la vista del Támesis era excelente. La única desventaja de Caravaggios es la vista de Peckham Alta Pero incluso esto tiene Rd., un cierto encanto.

No sé la zona y caminamos por largo tiempo tratando de encontrar un sitio donde comer. El hambre llamaba a la puerta fui a Carvaggios. Sorprendido por los laicos dentro de la puerta. . El personal muy limpio y ordenado, así como locales. . . Muy, muy la comida agradable y buena relación calidad-precio

Por el demasiado frío (nieve) nos metimos en este restaurante por casualidad.

Qué gran restaurante para una noche divertida, porque cumple muchas cajas para todo el mundo. Personal amable que disfrutan de bromas, muy concurrido, con un ambiente relajado, un menú variado con tanta variedad y no sólo razonable sino también de gran calidad. Un lugar super para una fiesta.

My parents in law live around a 5 minute walk from here so gave been there a few times. Went this time with Mother & Father in Law. FiL is err difficult to please but was happy with the Sunday menu which is a special...

Food: standard Italian Value: average prices Staff: abysmal. Very grumpy middle aged men. Will never go back. Thank goodness that there are so many wonderful alternatives in Camberwell now!

This is an old school Italian restaurant with middle aged apron wearing Italian waiters, a full selection of classic British Italian dishes, good quality food and a great atmosphere. Can you get better Italian food? Well yes. In Italy. But the British style combination of pizza, pasta, and main courses like entrecôte steak au poivre, lamb chops or chicken in masala sauce etc is excellently delivered. We shared antipasto, linguine frutti de mare, saltimbocca and a desert. They split the portions for us so we had it Italian style, one course after another. Portions were massive. With a bottle of wine and couple of G&Ts; this was excellent value for sixty quid. For what this sets out to be, a local neighborhood family friendly Italian with great quality and value for money, this one’s a five out of five for me.

I walked in to book for work colleagues. I was greeted by a miserable man. I asked for the menu and he gave me the Xmas menu. I said can I have the normal menu please as this isn’t a Xmas meal. He then said ‘I have 67 bookings for that night it’s easy for us if you eat Xmas dinner’ couldn’t believe what I just heard. He sounded like he was telling me off for not choosing Xmas menu.next day I was walking past and spotted the owner fernando in the restaurant I walked in and asked for a menu and he gave me the normal menu with no questions asked. When we walked in we was greeted with friendly smiles. When it came to ordering if you didn’t know what to order waiter will tell you off.(well that’s how it sounded)they were walking away talking in their language.when food arrives they stand by the table and literally shout out name of the food and you have to put your hand up. I felt like I was in McDonald’s or fruit and veg stool. It’s very noisy in the restaurant as it is and you have the waiters shouting in your ears.i walked out with a headache which turned in to a migraine and lasted 3 days. By the way nice food but you cannot hear person next to you and opposite you. It’s not ideal for a nice quite meal.sorry fernando but your waiters let you down.

I had frequented this restaurant for many years - but an office move 10 years ago means that I do not visit often now - and had not eaten there for some years. The lighting what used to be a very bright daytime restaurant seems wrong and it is probably in need of a refurb - because the sensation of glossy smartness that used to hit on arrival has definitely ebbed - for all that it remains smart in a somewhat dated way. The food did not disappoint - a superbly executed plate of thinly sliced octopus topped with fresh salad and prawns, followed by thick ribbons of fresh pasta with hare ragu. The latter was rich and delicious and definitely merited a full red wine - rather than the lunchtime white I had chosen. It was a good crisp wine - and towards the less expensive end of a fairly extensive list. My guest thoroughly enjoyed her veal escalope too. We forgot to order any side dishes - the zucchini fritti have always been exceptional here and I presume remain so. Overall it was a most enjoyable eating experience and I will return soon. In relative terms, I think this restaurant is less expensive than it was 20 years ago and it offers reasonable value - although even an ordinary wine and side dishes will add considerably to a bill. Service was excellent - from reception cloakroom on arrival - to the same on departure.

Nice buzz as soon as you go in. Friendly, attentive. Opted for the specials and two different starters were fine but the salted fish was poor. Boney and very little flesh. Also the plate was cold. Boar looked much better!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very calm, with a very lovely Victorian interior. The complimentary bowl of olives was a very nice touch, and the food was amazing. The waiter was very pleasant and charming to talk to.

Booked a table at 7.30 on a Saturday evening. As luck would have it we arrived at 6.45 and were staying down straight away. The restaurant looks tiny from the roadside, but it's like the Tardis on the inside, going back a long way.

Called in as my son and wife were raving about it yep they were right, from going in to coming out a fantastic experience was had ,starters king prawns, scampi ,portobello mushrooms, prawns& crab ravioli,lamb steak & ginger , ribeye on the bone,venison parcels, salmon linguine,sweets Irish coffees, and three bottles of wine later will make this a regulardate on our visits to camberwell.

I am an Italian head waiter in one of the most famous Italian restaurants in London. I love going to Caravaggio, the food reminds me the flavours of some traditional dishes,back home in Napoli. The service it has been always super.The waiters are so friendly, and efficient. I really suggest to visit Caravaggio if you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in London.

This place is just great, welcomed with a smile which is just lovely. The food was incredible pizza was magnificent so thin and tasty the sauce omg!!!! Best of all the steak it was the size of my head lol massive portions, and the tiramisu was fantastic. Finally the service was great attentive, welcoming and fast just a good group of people with a family run feel.

I would recommend LA LUNA ITALIAN RESTAURANT, a family run restaurant on Walworth road. All the staff are friendly and the food is great. Service always good. As for Caravaggio. Their staff are extremely rude and no wonder when the manager is dismissive when you complain. They seem to have a problem with customers not eating a minimum amount of food. If their expectations are not met, you will no about it. When we left, one of the waiters clearly said now we can serve real customers. Definitely will not be giving them my money again, especially after finding such a welcoming gem.

Great value food in a nice setting. Don't be put off by the cafe look of the place as it really is much better inside and there is a back part that you cannot see from the street.We went wanting a quick meal and to get out, so told the waiter this. The service to be fair was not quick but it was nice/helpful. The food was brillaint value for money (at least the pizza that we ordered) and the drinks were a reasonable price.All in all a nice find considering the location, though it was quiet late Saturday lunchtime.Really recommended for a value meal in nice surroundings.

As the title says this restaurant is a work of art... From the deco to the music, from the friendly staff to the food... Oh, yes the food, that's the real master here. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The waiters Peralta and Miguel were great host and the chefs Fernando and Luis are masters in their own right. Caravaggio, this master restaurant paints a smile on your face.
