Caper & Berry in Guildford

Caper & Berry provided amazing food and service at our recent wedding at High Billinghurst Farm in Surrey. We were provided with a huge range of options, with plenty of customisation opportunities. The tasting was wonderful, the food on the day equally as good. The service on the day and coordination with the venue was also fantastic. We felt really looked after on the day, with lots of personal touches and attention, going above and beyond. Massive thanks to Rachel and Alistair.

We can’t recommend Caper and Berry enough! They catered our wedding earlier this year, and they were incredible – the food was amazing, and they were so great at accommodating all dietary requirements. The service was very professional, and we had so many compliments on presentation and taste of the food!

We hired Caper & Berry to cater our wedding at Kew Gardens in September 2024. We cannot recommend them enough! Not only was the food delicious (we're still dreaming about the lobster mac & cheese canapés), but the service was absolutely impeccable. So many of our guests noted that the dinner plates were all set down at the same time. The staff at C&B were all wonderful and exhibited great professionalism. We only wish we had another excuse to have a tasting at their cottage.

Working with Caper & Berry on an event is always an absolute JOY! We were incredibly lucky to secure Caper and Berry for our wedding at Kew Gardens. From start to finish the service we received was impeccable- Tilly held our hand during all the planning and tastings, making sure we got precisely what we wanted. It was refreshing to have such a can do attitude to all of the various elements we wanted as part of our day. Ollie ran our day making it look effortless, he made sure everything we envisioned was executed correctly which meant we didn’t have to worry about a thing, other than enjoying our day with our guests. Thank you for everything that the Caper & Berry team did to make our wedding day so perfect, but especially for all the incredible food and drinks. We have had so many lovely comments from our guests about how the food was the best food they have had at a Wedding, so it couldn't get much better than that! C&B handled everything impeccably, with the rain on the day and not being able to cook and serve as much outside, and frantically moving everything inside! Thank you for all of your epic organisation skills to make sure the day flowed and even with some changes and timings going off, no one would have suspected a thing. The entire experience with C&B from start to finish was just awesome, the tasting is still one of my favourite days! Every person at C&B that we dealt with was lovely and really accommodating and above all just so friendly - exactly what we wanted and the type of company we wanted to work with for our Wedding. It just made the entire experience so special and memorable, so we can't thank you all enough. We would give even more stars if we could… A week on from our wedding, we are still re-living our favourite parts of the day and food and drink really did take centre stage. From the very beginning, Caper and Berry listened attentively to all of our hopes for the day (which, for us, had an Italian influence) and their communication, advice and support were all truly fantastic. We were blown away by the food at our tasting (choosing canapés was incredibly hard as we loved them all!) and so many of our guests commented on how delicious it was, as well as how beautifully presented all of the dishes were. In the build up to our wedding, nothing was too much to ask and we had so much faith in the Caper and Berry team. Their professionalism alongside their friendly and fun presence on the day was something we really appreciated. Alistair, in particular, was simply fantastic. We would highly recommend Caper and Berry to any couples looking for a top quality catering company for their big day - or indeed for any event - and can only say a HUGE thank you to the team!

Andy Boyd is a superstar. Andy’s team from Caper & Berry gave us an amazing wedding day with incredible food and top notch service. He is one of a kind and we had 100% trust in him and his team. The food on the day was much better than at our tasting. The service was exemplary. Everyone was so discreet yet whenever you wanted anything it just appeared, with a smart and friendly face! Amazing staffing on the day. However, the admin and sales team from Caper & Berry leading up to the day was unreliable, unresponsive and a real hassle. Once we were handed over to Andy a couple of weeks before the wedding, it all went extremely well.

Bizarre experience with this company - phoned just before Easter regarding a quote for a wedding in September and had a long chat about requirements etc. and then did not receive any quote. Thinking it an honest mistake I popped in to the business in person and went through the process again - still no quote weeks later. The staff in both cases were pleasant and diligent and I’m left thinking the only explanation is that the company did not want to cater for us and instead of saying so chose to ignore me instead.

Nice people, and very professional team?

This was a difficult review write, because ultimately, Caper & Berry did a lot of things right. The food they provided for our wedding was lovely and beautifully presented. They offer a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options, which is one of the reasons we chose them as the caterers. Our Event Manager for the day, was also lovely: a friendly, professional and calming presence. However, we had a very difficult journey with Caper & Berry. Four months after paying the deposit, we received a formal email explaining that prices were being raised and an updated cost sheet had been attached. The price rise was not insignificant. We therefore felt the need to seek legal advice as to how to respond to this email. Following this, we sent a response outlining that it was neither reasonable nor professional to unilaterally change a contract that had been agreed by both parties a matter of months ago. Within 30 minutes, we got a response saying that this had been a mistake, and this email was intended for bookings older than ours. While I appreciate that mistakes happen, it was very disappointing that no one had reached out sooner to us to let us know. We spent time and energy figuring out what to do and were incredibly worried. After this, we had a call where they apologised and I was assured that we would be treated especially well moving forward. A few months later we were in the period of choosing our menu options and going to the tasting cottage. The tasting cottage was a lovely experience and we really enjoyed our time doing this. However, the turn around time to get an answer from emails was incredibly slow and there were long periods of waiting. It got to the point where I started to strategise with my husband how best we could get a response - whether if we used bullet points they would be more likely to reply, or perhaps tried to phone them at certain points in the day instead. I appreciate that they must be very busy, but even holding emails would have been very much appreciated. After a few months of not having key answers as the wedding approached, I again called to speak with someone about how we could move forward. They did seem sincerely sorry and we were introduced to someone new who would be dealing with us from this point on. A lot of things were then thankfully sorted very quickly, but even with this, there were issues moving forward. For example, we had a ‘final planning’ Zoom meeting booked one evening and no one showed up on the Zoom call. After calling the office half an hour later, they had to chase what had happened and we were told that the person wouldn’t be able to get to us until an hour after the original time. This of course is not an issue at all as an isolated incident, but it started to feel like one thing after another. All of these problems were ultimately about a lack of organisation. There were a few minor issues on the day. For example, a handful of people didn’t get the correct meal and they had to be exchanged, and there were comments that not everyone saw or received the canapés . However, overall, it was a great day with tasty, well-presented food. Ultimately though, I’ve rated this on our experience with them across the year: we felt very let down. They clearly work on some impressive events and I imagine smaller weddings are less of a priority. While all of our other vendors were professional and friendly, we were often made to feel like no one at Caper & Berry really cared.

We couldn’t recommend Caper & Berry enough. From start to finish an amazing experience. The food was superb, the staff were brilliant and the drinks kept flowing! Saskia was a real calming presence throughout the day. The team were so attentive and really thoughtful in making sure canapés were saved for us both. Harrison, the bar manager was incredibly helpful, kept checking in on us and did everything with a smile on his face! Everyone commented on the outstanding service and we’ll be sending them your way! I am so thrilled that we chose Caper & Berry as our wedding caterers. The food and service on the day was absolutely outstanding. It was certainly the best wedding food that I have ever tasted and many of our guests commented the same. The catering manager Kate was fantastic. Caper & Berry were our wedding caterers (in August 2022) and they were fantastic. The food was amazing, the set up was amazing and their general professionalism and approach to the day was exactly what we needed. Fantastic food tasting served in a professional and tasteful purpose built tasting cottage. Tilly was attentive and very knowledgeable. Above all we were treated to some of the best food I have tasted.

Caper & Berry catered our Syon Park wedding last weekend (August '22) and we couldn't be happier with the result. The food was outstanding, and many guests claimed it was the best lamb they've ever tasted. The service provided was also top notch, with friendly, attentive, and professional staff. Tristan (the catering manager) was particularly great and tended to our every need on the day. We recommend anyone looking for a Richmond based caterer to use Caper & Berry!

We had a wonderful experience with Caper & Berry. The whole team has been amazing throughout the process. We really enjoyed the tasting at the cottage, Tilly was a pleasure to work with. On the wedding day, the service was on point and the food was delicious. Ollie was on top of every detail and everything went according to plan!

This is the best food I've ever had at a wedding and luckily it was at my own! We have probably come across everyone who works for c&b as we had to rearrange 4 times but every staff member were amazing! On the actual day we had Saskia coordinateing our wedding who was incredible, friendly and professional lbut also fun. We thought they were amazing they kept the alcohol flowing and the canapés coming for so long, normally at a wedding you have to chase the server down for more but not with these guys they just kept Coming, every single guest commented on how hard everyone worked and how amazing all the food and service was. I was so please with every thing and so was my husband and all of our guests. They really knew what they were doing and clearly had a lot or experience in events. Caper and Berry were the caterers for our wedding this year in June 2021 and were absolutely amazing. Caterers are such an important part of your day, and we highly recommend these guys if you want fantastic food, amazing staff and organisation to perfection! From the moment we contacted them (only a month before our wedding!), they were fantastic, very quick to respond and super helpful and efficient for us to make decisions. We had a lovely experience tasting the dishes which made us excited for the day. The food was incredible and we are still getting comments from guests on how it was the best wedding food they have ever had! The staff were lovely on the day, and Tristan was our event manager for the day and honestly made the day - he was lovely super accommodating when our day didn't run to plan and everything ended up an hour later due to traffic and weather, and was an absolute pleasure to have at our day. He helped ensure everything ran smoothly and was super helpful with any and every need we had! I can't recommend Caper and Berry enough if you want a special day with amazing food! Unfotunately because the food was so delicious, it didn't last long enough for any photos, but we managed to capture the Shots and Pots desserts which are incredible. Plus the beautiful table styling they also created for us, using their beautiful glassware, cutlery and linenware. Thanks so much guys for making our day so special!

Caper & Berry catered for my daughters wedding last month - the whole experience, from initial consultation, thru 3 postponements and changes in numbers due to Covid, to the actual day was absolutely amazing - very helpful, friendly, supportive and professional. On the day the service was immaculate and the food was completely delicious - everyone commented on it! I highly recommend them.

We recently had our wedding and Caper&Berry were our caterers, all I can say is WOW! They were so fantastic to work with from start to finish and helped us navigate a myriad of covid issues like pro's. Tristan the owner is really lovely and even gave us some direct calls when we had some last minute issues close to our date. Saskia our event manager, was lovely and really went out of her way to help us also. Everyone raved about the food at our wedding and said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding, very much restaurant quality. The service was also phenomenal on the day and they just helped our wedding run extremely smoothly. I cannot recommend them highly enough, thanks C&B team for everything you did for us.

I cannot speak highly of C&B. Our designated event manager Saskia was outstanding, as were all her colleagues that we had touch points with in the run up to our wedding day. Ever changing COVID guidelines and restrictions made the planning problematic for us in many respects but C&B were incredibly accommodating, and importantly very clear in their messaging to us around how we could work together within the guidelines to provide a COVID safe and compliant event, that didn’t compromise on quality of product or service. The food was delicious (our guests have not stopped raving about it), the presentation (including cutlery/ plates etc) was what you’d expect from a high end restaurant, and the service from all staff was professional on the day. Additionally, there were a number of ad hoc requests we had on the day, and they were delivered as requested. C&B team, thank you so much for everything, after what has undoubtedly been a difficult time for you all individually, and your industry. We have used Caper and Berry for both of our daughters weddings. They have guided us through the whole planning process. Every one of the 130 meals on both occasions was perfect. The staff were professional, superbly led by Andy Boyd. Comments from our guests have included ‘classy’ event, ‘best wedding I’ve ever been to’ I could go on and on.

This is the second time we have had food from Caper & Berry and we weren't dissapointed! Absolutely INCREDIBLE food! We had a fantastic 'date night' staying in at home as all the restaurants are closed and also ordered a mothers day box for my in-laws which really cheered them up after spending over a year shielding. Would highly reccomend - great quality, great service and a lovely way to treat yourself in the midst of a pandemic.

We booked Caper & Berry for our wedding at Syon Park which could not go ahead due to covid, when we rescheduled they changed the payment terms meaning we had to pay further instalments amidst the pandemic, still not knowing if the new day would go ahead and unable to get insurance. Within 7 days of the new agreement we backed out and fairly asked that they keep our original deposit (an already large sum) but return the additional amount we had paid the week before. This was refused saying the costs were used for staff and admin which quite frankly is not our problem, particularly given we were willing to let go of the 25% deposit already paid. Their food was excellent but we were really let down by this attitude in an already difficult time and would not recommend them again.

Hired for our wedding at Hedsor House, were absolutely fantastic. We were very worried about the food as it is such an important part of the day and have had so much bad wedding food, but it was all done so well and there were so many compliments on the food. Highly recommend!

Caper and Berry did a fantastic job at our Hedsor a House wedding this summer. From the outset, Tilly was so helpful in guiding us in the menu choices and we were blown away by the visit to the tasting cottage with Libby. It was definitely one of the highlights of the wedding planning process and got us very excited for the Big Day. The food was incredible and our guests were raving about it for a long time afterwards. In fact, two vegetarian guests are aiming to replicate the halloumi main course for their own wedding breakfast next year! The C&B team took on more responsibility for the smooth running of the day than I expected - going far beyond just serving food. In particular, Andy was a pleasure to work with. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he seamlessly dealt with two extra guests who had not RSVPd. Thank you Caper and Berry for making our special day such a success!

I got married at Loseley Park on 29th March 2018, where Caper & Berry are the exclusive caterers, so this review is in relation to the Caper & Berry Team at Loseley Park. Seriously exceptional service, not cheap but worth every penny! The Caper and Berry catering team that are exclusive to the venue so you have to use, were so so professional on the day, absolutely everything was in hand, to the tiniest detail, we didn't need to worry about a thing (they run the wedding logistics from beginning to end on the day itself). In addition, they were always so accommodating to our perfectionist ways and many questions and visits for months approaching the wedding. The food was really really good, was nice to have a smart meal for the wedding breakfast all the guests loved it.

Food was perfection every time we tried it (tasting & showcases & on the day). The service on the day was nothing short of extraordinary, Tristan made our wedding day come together and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Our guests are still raving about the food even now!

Very disappointed in my purchase of a cheese ploughman's sandwich from Caper and Berry on the Surrey Research Park. There is no excuse for using bread that is not fresh!

Visité Caper & Berry con un amigo un viernes por la tarde durante el Loseley Park Garden Show. Estaba lleno, pero nuestro pedido para el té de crema sabrosa fue tomada rápidamente y nos sentamos a esperar... La taza de té era rápido para llegar y bebimos nuestra primera taza... Y esperé... 15 minutos más tarde me quitó mi cabeza vuelta a la esquina y preguntar donde estaba-la respuesta "Ah, no, no tenía todavía?".Y esperamos... Mi amigo y luego fuimos a preguntar después de otros 5 minutos (teniendo en cuenta que estamos esperando un plato con 2 scones de queso, crema de queso y mermelada de cebolla y cebollino, un simple ensamble -, no complicado cocinar).Finalmente, 20 minutos después de nosotros mismos habíamos sentado, la placa llegó!Con un bollo.Después de llevar esto a la atención de los camareros (todo el personal era encantador!), otro bollo fue rápido aparecer, pero ambos estaban heladas, y volvió a la cocina.Tengo que decir que mis esperanzas no eran altos en este punto, pero estaba delicioso. Una combinación totalmente sublime de (ahora) un bollo caliente de queso cremoso y suaves cubiertas con mermelada rica fuerte de cebolla... Hubiera sido fácil para comer tanto.Casi compensó la espera.
